The part about Cybermen that scares me the most is...Even when you are converted into one of them...That's still 'you' in there. You still have your memories, thoughts, and sense of self..Only your emotions are stripped away. You don't forget who you used to be, but you stop caring about your old life as your body is gradually replaced with metal and plastic, piece by piece. And of course there's no guarantee that your emotions would be the first piece of you to be removed. As we see in 'Attack of the Cybermen' some captives who try to escape have already been partially converted. Their minds and emotions are intact, but not all of their bodies are... Just imagine being captured by Cybermen and being forced through a process of systemic and gradual 'conversion' where your body is cut up and replaced by prosthesis, piece by piece, until eventually you no longer have the capacity to care...
I would love to see a proper horror game about the Cybermen (with NOTHING held back). The origins, process of becoming one, being chased by them, everything. The Cybermen are a terrifying concept, and I would pay top dollar for such a horror game to become a reality.
I always love these videos. What creeps me out about the cybermen is that its never clear WHAT they are. are they still alive and emotionally blank, driven to convert others because they like the way they are after, or they could be machines that believe they are still alive but are actually just preserved flesh driven by their cybernetics to carry out their given purpose.
Depends likely on the version. The original design definitly is still mainly alive. They just have the robotic life support thing & likely some interals replaced but the majority is human. The majority of second doctor ones seem to be less human though & may be mainly robotic with some small remnants of the human inside of them. The fourth doctors one have so much emotions I think they have lost part of the emotional inhibitors & so likely are alive. The 80s cybermen are likely made mainly of human parts with a little bit of robotic stuff keeping them alive again. The wilderness years use the 80s & 60s designs in books & comics & big finish. Then the new series seems to mainly only keep the brain for the RTD era so they likely aren't really alive here & are more robots than humans. The ones in the Moffatt era are odd & we have 3 types the Mondasian ones which seem to be alive as they keep most of the human parts as shown by the old puzzle game & the 2nd James Cordon episode. Then the Iron man ones also seem to mainly keep human parts but they have used dead humans a few times in this form so likely they are more an undead thing not really alive or dead. Then the Chibnall era ones are different. Ashad is alive for certain but he can kinda turn on the dead ones which makes them more like robots. But then again it really depends on how we define life. Mrs C Gren is a basic way of doing it. Does it move yes. Does it respire unsure. does it have senses yes. does it have control of its internal stuff yes. does it grow not likely. does it reproduce no. does it excrete likely in some way. does it gain nutrients & again unsure. But then again there is a lot of different things we can think of to define alive.
Cyberman > Cyberpunk Both in esthetic, story, and tone. The Cybermen are just superior in every aspect compared to Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk exists for glamor, and to glorify cybernetics in humans. The Cybermen are the real warning, and what will actually happen had humanity went down that route. There’s a reason I take the cybermen as a name, especially as a horror artist.
It's too different stories, one is about humanity, what is losing it may mean, another is future controlled by corporations where you are just another asset for some company
its much more horific in petes world having your brain and nervous system extracted and placed in what to those who arent vconverted is esentially a walking steel casket for those converted is truly horifiying
The Cybermen are much older than the Borg and I'd not be surprised to find the BBC had a quiet word with Star Trek about where the idea for the Borg came from....
@@tonybmw5785 That might be the reason that they made the Borg look like people with the parts attached rather than "suits" like the Cybermen. And yes, I know that they appeared in Doctor Who, but it was two months after the original Star Trek started.
@@martykarr7058 if we're talking dates... Dr.Who started in 1963 and met the cybermen in Hartnel's final series in the role. Yes, Trek started in 1966 but the Borg had nothing to do with TOS and first appeared in the TNG season 2 episode Q Who in 1989, which is the neck end of a quarter of a century later than Dr Who bumped into the Cybermen in 1966.
The Cybermen are awesome villains and they are better IMO than the Daleks, and also in Blake,s Seven the Mutoids are like the Cybermen they have their emotions and memories erased because emotions and memories are an impediment to the Cybermen, the Mutoids and even the Borg in Star Trek Generation too in STNG the Borg are both male and female whereas the Cybermen are exclusively male but even woman have been turned into Cybermen and they are not called Cyberwomen .
WE WILLL SUUURVVIVVVEE! What a beautiful fantastic video and dare I say an upgrade on the original it’s beautifully edited and u bringing up an ancient god like evil reminded me of something when will we get a review of pyramids of mars? Come on for Ebraheam sake where is it
Thank you very much for all the kind words.🙂 I did do a vid on Pyramis back in the early years of my channel, but I'd gladly revisit it. It's the least I can do for Mr Namin..😉🐵
You *might* say the Cybermen can call themselves a brotherhood.
A Brotherhood of Steel.
Elder Maxson: *(visibly angry)* SYNTH ABOMINATIONS!

They're not removed - they're behind a 'wall'. If the suppressor fails, your brain collapses.
fine... I'll listen to Spare Parts again
DOCTOR MAN ALAN
And watch World Enough And Time again.
I only just discovered spare parts, it's fkn awesome hahah 😅

"Cybermen are an invention unique to Doctor Who"

Eh. The borg are just posers

Reminds of "The black Hole", Quake, Phantom 2099, the Borg from Star Trek all in one,,,,, 👍
Wow amazing video! Creepy and informative

to be honest I still think the SCARIEST THING EVER is to get converted into a you tuber... Like... Like...
THE CHOSEN CHIMP!!!
Is the CybeFaction coming up
Yeah, that Cyber-Pain thing was a really stupid addition to Cyber-Lore.
Nice job. 👍
Great vid
Is revenge on the horizon?
yes
Out of context this conversation is hilarious
Ummm, nicely done ;)
I wonder if they're going to get a name change soon? Cyberman is just not right in these "enlightened" times. Cyberthey/them sounds much better!
Was thinking the same thing. And take the Daleks out of their shells, too. One can only hope for reapers to undo the retcon.😂
