  • Hello lovers,
    I hope that 2022 is treating you well so far. For me its been a bit of a struggle getting my bearings after a hectic end of 2021...and I was pretty sure that (as usual) that I couldn't be the only one.
    So I figured for my first video back after a few weeks that I would talk about some of the things that are helping me get motivated to dust myself off and keep going.
    I love and miss you all and I have a new video coming for you in a couple of days!

    I just turned 60 and I wished I could have heard this talk when I was in my 30’s. It’s taken me nearly 30 years to realize self-care is not selfish. You simply can’t let people hurt you, walk in you, etc without facing a huge burnout. I have a friend who passed away a year ago who always said “if you’re messing up - the universe throws you a feather. If you ignore it - it throws a brick. If you ignore the brick - you are hit by a bus. Don’t wait for the bus”.

      The best part about your awesome comment is hearing that you did learn to love yourself! I always learn everything the hard way 😂 You’re proof that there hope for me that I can keep figuring this stuff out even as I’m getting older. So happy you’re there now ❤️ women are always trained to feel selfish for everything. It’s bs.

      @@whitneyhedrick Em is sooo right on! Great analogy 💙.... I know I'm sitting right on up in the front pew myself! Preach on, because I for one am ready, have been ready, to take ownership of my own "stuff"..... I'm also tired, no, exhausted from having to explain my taking time for MY self care... or worse yet, making excuses for why I'll put it off, yet making time "doing" for people I know deep down could care less if I cry myself to sleep. Over it, thank you! Thank you, Whitney... God bless you girl!!!!!!

    Whitney! I don't think I've ever commented on a UA-cam video (I'm really more of a spectator and less of a participant lol) but I've been a longtime viewer of your channel and your message always hits different for me. Burnout is something I can relate to big time, so thank you for sharing your journey and insights!
    I'm experiencing a little burnout right now because I just moved to Nashville from Chicago with my loving boyfriend 9 months ago, and am juggling a full-time job while studying esthetics at the Paul Mitchell School in Hendersonville. So your advice is gonna come in handy :)
    I hope what I'm about to say doesn't come across as creepy - and there is no pressure here AT ALL. But I remember you mentioning a while back that you're based in the Nashville area, so if that's still the case, I'd love to offer you a facial at my school to help you ease out of your end-of-2021 slump. I'm sure you're already working with an esthetician (I can tell by your pristine at-home regimen!), but if you're ever interested in getting a hella affordable and relaxing skin treatment just because, please let me know.
    I don't have many friends in Nashville yet and I'm challenging myself to do the "next right thing" as I'm settling into my new city, so if you're at all interested, my skin IG is jenuine.skin. Again, no pressure or hard feelings here; one of my 2022 goals is to grow my network of girlfriends in TN, so please humor my attempt at putting myself out there 😂 much love to you girl!

      That’s not weird at all! I just screen shotted…screen shat? Hahaha this comment and I will hopefully be in touch but with ol RoRo rearing her ugly head again I’m trying to keep it indoors for a bit. I hope you enjoying Nashville! Have you had the chance to see or do anything fun yet?

    • @jekuczynski
      @jekuczynski 2 роки тому +1

      @@whitneyhedrick thanks for getting back to me! Hear ya loud and clear on the RoRo front - she's been limiting my Nashville exposure unfortunately! I'm in West End so I'm well acquainted with Belle Meade/Radnor Lake hiking, like 5 restaurants, and Green Hills curbside pickups haha. Still have plenty to explore but slowly and surely getting there! Hope you're staying safe, healthy and happy

    Great video, as always! Glad you're back with us and feeling better. Your advice has helped me in several aspects of my daily life. I have incorporated the "big shower" into my week. It has changed so many things for me, including my attitude and hair routine. I also love getting a couple hours alone. When I do it, I tell my kids it's my only long shower, and I need peace. Lol didn't always work, but it's pretty close!

    Great video. I’m so incredibly tired. My next right step is to put on my CPAP tonight. Getting good sleep is imperative for me so it always blows my mind how I “forget” to put on my mask at night. Urg P.S. I have zero issues with my mask, it’s actually comfortable. It’s me being lazy. 🌹

    • @lunar686
      @lunar686 2 роки тому +3

      Sending love from Australia and hope you get a lovely night’s sleep tonight 😊😴🥰. Oh and it might not be you being lazy, your prefrontal cortex (brains decision making centre) begins to switch off in the evenings or if you’re in pain. Like everyone functions different, but I have found that by recognising and accepting that my brain experiences periods of impaired functioning, I have been able to help plan for future episodes of it and try eliminating as many obstacles during that time as possible, or make things more visible or set more reminders, lol I literally have my alarm clock verbally tell me to take my morning medication, which is placed in front of it (not inside the bottle but the counted out pill) beside a water, because otherwise I am so not a morning person and my brain is beyond impaired at that hour lol

    I believe that during and/or after a slump, you can add some "comedy relief" as a form of self-care. Allow me to demonstrate: Guess what Ebeneezer Scrooge got for Christmas -- chewing gum that gives him bad breath.

    Thank you for your videos. Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. My Dad is still here. She left in 2019. I did the next right thing I think by making a nice omelet. Your suggestions I'm following. Except I also have anger issues with myself. In 2019 I lost my darling cat, and a man i loved for a decade. I try to follow what my Mom is telling me, but I'm having trouble with that man. I also have a list of what is the most important for the day: my cat's brofur, 19 almost, giving him treatment (yes he's older but spunky). Making food. TRrying to work out. I have a problem though besides loss. i CAN'T take care of everyone. My Dad, cat, myself. I can't take care of much more than this.
