Welll lol, sadly a large potion of cancer research funds went into ppl’s pockets. Particularly in America the healthcare, pharm and medicinal research fields are all for-profit, incredibly corrupt, and tied into religious companies like the Catholics so they even further avoid business taxes. There’s a reason why most major hospitals here are St. this or that, and it ain’t out of the kindness of the Catholic Church donating funds 😂. Not to say research isn’t worth doing, but it’s unlikely even half the amount was spent on actual medical work.

@@mrs.h2725 I believe it. But instead of calling that out, the media media ahas the audacity to say 3.5 billion into revolutionary clean energy research is a waste. I hope that since now there has been such a break through, fission research gets more funding. Maybe it gets more privatized so we can all have a chance to get some money on the way up. But still, more funding mean more research and incentive which leads to more breakthroughs (ideally). I think that maybe because health research is a little more ambiguous than energy research we will see more results. But I’m not a professional or a scientist. I’m just a guy who wants to see our carbon foot print drop and stop seeing petty wars over fossil fuels at some point in my life.

This is actually one of the worst ideas ever.
The most efficient way of building a city is in spheres or blocks, that way you maximize accessibility and ensure multiple transit routes and routes of travel for people to reach services or services to reach people.
In the line, you don't get that.
You will need exponentially more schools, hospitals, police stations, stores, parks etc. to ensure quick and easy access to these services. This happens because no matter where you are, your will only have the ability to travel in two directions to find a service you require, which ensures that you only have 2 options which are ALWAYS either really close or really far from you.
Also, congestion will be unreal as you're forcing all vehicles, people and transit vehicles to travel in two directions.
What happens during maintenance? Can you just not go north or south that day? What happens in the event of a power failure? a fire?
How do you "go around" when you can ONLY go one way or the other way?
This is THE WORST design possible.
Not to mention the utility nightmare this place will be.

Any system that can deal with the fact that it is only allowed to go in two directions will be bottlenecked and needs to be absurdly over designed in order to deal with the induced demand by design.
You need everything built in duplicate or triplicate to have fail safes if just 1 thing goes wrong.
Like, this is THE DUMBEST design on virtually every level that you examine it. Not just from practicality, but also from a "sustainability" point of view. Its truuuumendously material and labour wasteful.

My biggest question will always be where the workers will stay. Oil rich countries rely a lot on foreign workers to keep things clean and to serve them, where will these people stay? I'd figure they'd either have sad sad housing in the bottom units with no sunlight, or will have to be placed outside the line. If it's not convenient for them to get from point A to B then they won't bother working there. A city full of rich people with no workers willing to serve them is a disaster waiting to happen.

That’s a massive margin. It’s easy to misunderstand the article but this is huge news, and the fact that they call it a disappointment means they have no idea what they’re talking about

I think if every person had enough money to design their own ecohome that they would want to live in and was able to choose if they wanted to live with being filmed constantly or not then together we could build an eco city that with an organic design that could enable people to live in tune with nature and have freedom.
