Those trucks really look awesome
Thanks mike!
I picked up a VFD twin and Phoenix chassis off eBay for cheap. I'm currently fitting an Early Bronco to the chassis. I'm surprised how easy it all goes together. Very little modifications. I can't wait to drive it. It's my first Vanquish and I'm very impressed with the quality. Makes Axial seem more "toy" like.
That is exactly how I felt! Really love the fit and finish of a vanquish!
My old scx10.3 bronco I sold was a great trailing rig, my 10.2 trail honcho is a beast with the very little in brass I’ve added, but my phoenix is by far my go to grab for anything, I want to go trailing in style and know I’ll make it home after 100 scale miles Phoenix is the go to 🤓
Now if you want to talk the portal rigs if either I only recently have experienced the vanquish stance portal axles 😋and trx4 haha
Love the rigs regardless 🤘🏻
We are truly the same buddy when it comes to picking what to drive to the terrain!
I love your outlook on stuff Jerry. So many guys breaking rigs constantly. Drive them for what they are. Crawlers crawl. Trail trucks cruise the trail. Stop treating them like overpowered bashers and making them faster and faster
Thank you so much Chris 👍
I run a 12lb rig that is all metal except the body. It has a 3400kv HOLMES HOBBY V2 puller pro. Backed bye a mamba x. But,it's geared down with a ten tooth pinion and keeps the motor itself running in a higher rpm powerband range. It's a 3s rig. If I wanted to,sure I could blow up every bit of the drivetrain with that combo. But Im not an animal with the trigger. And I left 1 cheap fail safe part. My short shaft from transmission to transfer case. But know on wood. That rig never breaks. So don't whiskey the throttle boys and girls. And enjoy your time using them instead of repairing them 👍🏼
@@chrisnorthup137 sounds like a beast Chris 💪 iam in heavy maintenance mode right now getting ready for spring checking out all the rigs and nothing broken yet!!🤣🤣
That's great Gerry.. keep up the amazing content and reviews. Its to bad you're located so far away. Ide love to take a couple of my rigs and have some seat time with you.
Some here chris! And thank you again!
If you want to see what the chassis looks like just look at the Axial Bronco 2 the chassis is the same Axial just slapped a new body to it. The only reason I want the Axial CJ7 is the body & just like the Bronco it’s always going to be a good trail truck. I also have the RTR Phoenix which is more climbing orientated it’s not really a trail truck but not really a pure Climber. How Axial keeps charging $540ish for the Gladiator & $499 for the JLU stumps me they are to expensive for what you get. I’d take the Vanquish anytime over any Axial but they are a pain to work on. I love the Blazer ya got up on the shelf & one of my favorites the Gen.8 I don’t see the Marksman back there. I just had my SCX 103 JLU & I was thinking the same thing about the body mounts they gotta change it I also had my TRX4 2021 Bronco & new FMS 1:10 Brazer which both have clipless bodies. You definitely need to check out the FMS 1:10 Blazer it just seems like it would be right up your alley. Good to see ya though I haven’t seen many videos lately. Oh I do see the Marksmen now 👍 mine has been out recently even though people hate on it I have had no issues & other brands could take a lesson from Redcat selling a RTR with a 1080 & Holmes motor in it.🤨
Very true on all points! I have seen the bronco many times but still I don't feel they are 500 rigs, I have the fms blazer and fj40 on my wish list plus the cj7 just wish I pre-ordered it for 100 less! Thanks for watching and I subbed to your channel!
Yes yes a thousand times yes, I agree!!! Guys get these trail rigs and way over power them especially the Rc4wd stuff they are bashing not trailing. Those types of guys get on FB groups and start spouting how junk said products are when they know oh well they were straight bashing and not actually trailing. Traxxas always what I say makes a tank of an Rc usually they are really well built like you said sometimes quality control plaques every manufacturer. I had the Vanquish Vs4 was pretty disappointed myself, upon taking it apart I seen a plastic motor plate and was like 😳 lol! I plan on a Fordyce or CJ7 probably the Jeep because I'm a Jeep guy.
Thanks buddy, I knew you would get it!! I also agree about traxxas they took their time and I have had zero issues with the trx4 in particular. I too will probably be getting the cj7, would like to do it up like my 77!!
If you love the cj7 you can put the vfd trans in it now too i believe josh made a print file for a tab that you use to drop it in to stock axial skid plate you could even put a 3 gear or basecamp trans or element stealth too with a tab from bow house as well but for performance less is more so fordyce or stance or vrd carbon but just trail the phenoix & fordyce & cj7 are sweet just depends on what you want & what you plan to do Gerry & other you tubers if you see behind them all the tiny trucks they have just goes to show you there is no perfect truck just a bunch of flavors lol
Right on point Eric! But for alot of people it's price and just getting out and running and having to upgrade trans, shocks, radio, tires on a 500 truck is abit much! I feel the Phoenix is truly the best of both worlds!
Luckily we have the phoenix and the gladiator because I'm still undecided 😆 Great video Gerry
It has taken alot of work, but I really like my gladiator, and love what you did to yours!!
Well? Y'know where I stand in all this. AXIAL AXIAL AXIAL.... lol Well done Gerry
I really think you would like the fordyce sir!
Kinda like a real thing, drive it like it was meant to be driven! But it iz fun to upgrade and destroy
I will admit I have drove some a bit hard to see if I could break some thing!!🤣🤣
A RC guy noce collection
Thanks Kyle 😁
All good info, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Axial scx10 ii is definitely the best!!
@@bootheelrc my favorite 😍
simply don't buy RTRs , they're a waste of money. you get charged an extra 100-150$ for shit electronics that will get replaced anyway, same with the wheels & tires. just my opinion.
Servos and usually shocks too.
Shocks, servos, tire and esc if it's not right for what the vehicle is supposed to be used for. Those are my only changes to rtr's. Oh and of course the radio (axial) if you want to use all the functions...
