You’re right that’s exactly what it is, runners at Sha’Carri level know what they are doing, they strategize at this stage in the game. ShaCarri looks beautiful with her natural hair yet it used to be said to pull or braid the hair for the actual race because of “aerodynamic” reasons. ShaCarri time is usually less than 22.4 (and that time was in the rain, I believe). Been watching her in Australian season Become the 200m senior champion and Taking the National record in 100m 2 years ago she was injured at World u/20 championships When Tina Clayton won the title . SHE OBVIOUSLY BECAME FASTER SINCE THEN
Sha'Carri was 1800-Jogging. She was just there to fulfill sponsors obligations. Nothing else. Not taking anything away from Torrie though. Just coming off her national champs (very early in the season for the rest of the world), she was in career best shape, and had nothing to lose, running from lane 9. A win is a win, so good on her. Sha'Carri will find a second on this time though, come August.
Ok, so in the middle of watching this video my mind began to go in a different direction. This morning, I saw the race and thought this start and the start in Budapest are the absolute worst I’ve ever seen from ShaCarri in the 200M, and although I think she only lost because she couldn’t see Lewis in lane nine approaching (just like I feel she failed to qualify in 2022 for the exact same reasons), I was also a bit disappointed to see she still looks so fatigued in the final 50 with her knees dropped, etc. THEN, while watching this, I began to think perhaps she did use this race for training purposes to see how she would fare if she didn’t have such a great bend (as usual), and whether she could catch folks from behind. That part, she did well here. The more I think of it, ShaCarri almost always runs the 200M from the front, and doesn’t have much experience running folks down. In any event, whatever happened, she is clearly focused on 200M fitness this year and I hope she gets it. By the way, MAN, Christian Coleman impressed me big time today! He had that slow start (although it set up his race well), but still pulled away from Kerley and held his lead? WOW…he’s definitely fixing his problem, and I’m now beginning to think he may be the man to beat in Paris!
@@onestick1614 thanks, and right (?), I don’t think many realize how amazing Coleman’s execution was today and what it says about his training! Lets be honest, that was a slow time for professional women runners. Girls in high school have ran faster than 22.96 in the 200M. Allyson Felix ran a 22.11 in high school
Y'all forget she's getting a few races in before paris she's not trying to hurt herself before. That's part of being a athlete you work yourself but in the fold slowly not rushing cause that's how you get injuries or season ending one's but I think she'll be fine.
@@tonys7175 I believe she was using this race as a tune-up. For someone who hopes to contend for the gold in three months, it is a little early to go 100%.

She did. It's hard to see the outside lane. I'm sure she thought she had the win and let up. But I'm sure she won't do that again. But it bothered me that it seemed that only a few of the runners congratulated Lewis.

She's gonna be star both in the 100 and her favourite 200m.
Lets be honest, that was a slow time for professional women runners. Girls in high school have ran faster than 22.96 in the 200M. Allyson Felix ran a 22.11 in high school
this was just one race. No-one is peaking - they were having a hit-out
Australia no doubt now creaming themselves when this means nothing. At her best, Shes about a second behind actual contenders in the olympics.
Right, she only beat Sha’Carri by Three hundredths of a second, not even a full second😂
Y'all forget she's getting a few races in before paris she's not trying to hurt herself before. That's part of being a athlete you work yourself but in the fold slowly not rushing cause that's how you get injuries or season ending one's but I think she'll be fine.
This promises to be an exciting season for track and field.
Great run for the young Aussie!🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺
Been watching your channel for awhile now good job. Thanks
I am not a Sha'carri apologist, but I hope eveyone realizes she slowed down at the end.
Bc she realized the girl was ahead..she jus lost & we jus wanting on the next race.any country lost next
You would think she’d keep an eye on lane 9. She’s had experience with that. Just sayin’. 😊
I said the same thing, she slowed down at the end of the race
@@whop7941you think she could see her 😂
@@tonys7175 I believe she was using this race as a tune-up. For someone who hopes to contend for the gold in three months, it is a little early to go 100%.
The summer season has ended in Australia, but for Richardson the season has not yet started
But they all are aiming for Paris in under 100 days
@@frankchan5547that’s an eternity in track and field the should peak in July August.
Gotta be in the race to win! Good run Lewis!!
Damn 🙄 these women are why I'm here to enjoy their achievements.
Yeah and it looked like richardson was slowing down .....
She knows better..
Sha'Carri is looking gorgeous as usual!😀🔥💖🎆🌋👑
if you like arm pictures.
Awesome run Torrie!
Or, just a thought. In the woman's 200m, the "gear" a lot of runners were on last year is now detectable and they had to back off early with the Olympics coming. Just a thought.
Did Sha'Carri kind let up just before the finish line?
Get set position. And Finally yet AGAIN !
Yes she did..
She did. It's hard to see the outside lane. I'm sure she thought she had the win and let up. But I'm sure she won't do that again. But it bothered me that it seemed that only a few of the runners congratulated Lewis.
@@m.ltucker4314Richardson should know about lane 9 😊. I agree about the lack of grace from most of the runners. Only the Swiss runner hugged her. Richardson gave a smile and “good run” as she passed but no handshake even.
She pretends everytime she's losing. Such a 🤡
She slowed up. Congrats to Torrie.
Way to go Torrie Lewis !!!
That was accidental. Runners in the middle did not notify the runner in the 9th lane. Further that was just a warming up for Sha Cari.
somehow your voice fits track and field.
NOT WORRIED, you guys need to realize they have a very , very long season. and as we saw Sha'Carri doesnt do too well with long seasons which is why she said she's taking a different approach to this season I wouldn't e surprised if she just really got her training started. her form is off, arms are too wide, no leg lift which means heavy weight training
Excuses excuses excuses and more excuses.
Congrats Torrie...
Congrats to all AUA girls & ALLNthe competitors...
We should not say things to undermine Torri amazing win as 19 older. The sky is the limit for her. I am impressed with Australian capabilities in all the departments of sports even though they have very small population.
Big up all track and field fans
Those women are tired!! I'm sure they did their best for the moment. Being an athlete is very hard work so my hat goes off to all of them on both sides!!!
I’m so proud to be Aussie today ❤
You deserve to be proud. Athletics is about local heroes. All a person has to do to please me is lead their nation and then represent their nation well.
I only count the time my countrymen crosses the line.
Australia deserves to feel her champion is like no other. All nations must feel that way to keep athletics relevant and breathing.
@@josedelnegro46 I been a fan of athletics for years it’s so cool to have a young challenger representing Australia. I still remember the goosebumps and I know exactly where I was when Cathy Freeman won gold in Sydney 2000. We haven’t had someone like Torrie who has this much potential for a while now.
@@GaryTornado-zy2mz You write of the day I cried joyous tears all day long. She was my whole heart that day. Thank you.
Many important names were missing from the women's 200.
I'm so glad that she's going with her natural look over them wigs
Damn Sha 'Carri is so fine..
A strange race; most of the U.S. athletes ran slower than they did as juniors. Without a doubt traversing multiple time zones had an effect. With all of that said, a win is a win...congrats to Torrie.
Sha Carri, didn't appear to be putting forth any effort in the final 50 meters of the race. Once she caught up to and passed TT, it looks as if she just shut it down.
ShaCarrie has it all sporting the Afro hair style out natural 👑 crown from God Almighty.
Love the way Sha'carri is wearing that hair. Too sexy! With that said, I will always feel when it's blown out that way, it slows her times down. Digging that style though.
That fro is tight AF!
Great video
It's an early season 200m race in an Olympic year. Why show all your cards too soon? I wouldn't read too much in to these results.
Everyone is doing HEAVY work right now. Legs are dead.
What cards? It’s running, not like it’s chess mate
@@QuaiChandler-nn5duexcept Mondo Duplantis set yet another WR in the pole vault
@@sychodellic3523 I can tell you there is so much more to sprinting than just running. All things being held equal, physical ability....etcetera, having a mental edge is huge. The appearance of underperforming may allow your competitors to thing maybe this just isn't your year. Sport at the highest level in almost every regard is an absolute chess match. Whether it be in your preparation or performance at an event, there is a method to everyone's madness.
The only ones who would read too much into this are the ones who want to see Sha’Carri fail. They’re all giddy over this result as if it was the Olympic final 😂
Also to answer your question "what will they run".Doesn't matter what they run, Sherika Jackson will me the gold medalist in the 200m.
Exactly.
Indeed
Am glad Torri won and not Sha Carri... I feel Torri should have been celebrated without people being disappointed...coz you never know who can win
Early season race
wow. th eolympics will be awesome
All that matters is that you made it over the line the first three

Finishing second isn't a defeat ..the spin on this track event is so negative because its Sha Carri Richardson.. America really is such a divided country and doesn't stand behind its athletes with pride when they finish in the top three unless they are white or mild Mannered minorities that dont have a flair..
OH GOSH Shakari, you look the best you ever looked in the Afro.
3:56 - The world lead from Gaby Thomas stands at 22.08 secs. What does it mean by world lead? That is not the fastest time ran by a female nau, right?
Fastest time for the year
Why is there a need to Richardson? Yes she won gold in 100m world championships, but in the 200m was a bronze medalist. She was completely blown off the track my Sherika Jackson. The race wasn't even close.
Weird comment...100m is considered the fastest woman on the planet...200m clearly isn't her specialty...All eyes on Richardson
@@Taybaby2000Shacarri showing there is going to be more competition against her winning another bronze medal this year.
@edwardjones717 you are a fool...just stop commenting 🤣
@edwardjones717 What about this meet shows Olympic champion potential and big stakes lol?....if thats the case ud say The AUSSIE is the next 200m Olympic champ...GO SIT down‼️...we all can tell you a bit slow so Just go watch trash ass Abbey Steiner..lol better yet, pick a different sport to be super wrong and say random things about .....I'll give you another clue- Watch the last 30m and also watch Richardson let off the throttle...you don't even understand this is the 1st meet lol....I GUESS YOU SAID EVERY RACE COUNTS AND PROGRESSION DOESNT MATTER..😒
Well done to the young Ozi but I feel this could be the year Miss Richardson becomes the fastest female ever over 100 m just got to get those starts perfected . Go girl.
