Trigger was one of those unique characters who made you smile before he even opened his mouth. Probably because you knew full well that you would find whatever he came out with hilariously funny. Roger Lloyd-Pack's interpretation of how Trigger should behave was an example of comedy genius.
One of my favourite trigger moments is when he's talking about his brush, and he says he's had the same brush for many years - it's had 3 new heads and 2 new handles!
I couldn't put a position on what comedy was the best, there all at the same level, top quality, yes minister, yes prime minister, one foot in the grave, ab fab, faulty towers, little Britain, the royal family, gimme gimme gimme, poridge, rising damp, black adder, red dwarf, keeping up appearances, and I'm sure I've missed a few, but ofah did make me laugh when my life was low, thanks
I saw an interview once with David Jason paying tribute to the guy who played Trigger, with every other actor playing similar characters, he said he could look into their eyes and see a little bit of the actor there, with Trigger, he couldn't see a thing, the guy was well and truly in character
@@ElvarMasson I'm sure the actress who played Raquel said Roger Lloyd Pack would never break character and the cast tried to make him and he could easily make them break character but they never could
that is his brilliant acting to look like that. he pulls it of so smooth you think he is getting winded up but he's not. it's like trigger playing dumb and thick. that takes a very talented actor to pull that off. look at trigg in the vicar of dibley. another priceless profformer. goes up with the great one off a kind Ronnie barker comedian actor singer.
How utterly brilliant were this cast of actors and with John Sullivan writing???... Absolute brilliance!!!.. Not a line wasted!!!... Genius!!! and trigger!!!..😂😂😊😊
I think you just praise this show and make it seem so much better than it really was just out of respect for it. If anything the show was pretty simple and laugh tracks put on which has been proven to make someone else watching the show laugh as a reaction. So even if something isn't really funny but you put a laugh track over it and very often you will laugh too.
I'm from the U.S., so I've never seen these guys till the other day. This is comedy gold. As funny as Larry David, or Seinfeld. Lol funny every time. Some of the best writing, and comedic acting in t.v. history. Now that I'm hooked, I cant stop watching, and laughing. Too funny these guys. Brilliant, lol.
i watched some episode's with an american sister in law from Louisiana. She didnt find it funny.Unbelevible!I highly dislike all those american sitcoms, complete garbage. The american sense of humour is absolutely alein to the Brits and vice versa,it seems. The only thing in comedy you guys have close to this is The Simpsons.
This is simply not true. As an English man I have to say some American sitcoms are fantastic and some UK sitcoms are utter rubbish! And there are American comics who are fabulous.
You need to watch Miami Twice, one of Del Boy and Rodney’s hilarious holidays. As the name suggests they venture over to Florida, and run into a mafia family.
minaskimbles I love British comedy. I'm sorry you dont find our comedy funny, but I respect your opinion. All I have to say is, what about, Mash, Married with children, Cheers, Friends, Larry David's Curb your Enthusiasm, Mad T.V. First two years of Saturday Night Live, Living In Color, The Dave Chappelle show. Your saying none of these deserve any credit? Your doing exactly what your sister in law is doing. Which I highly disagree with her. So, if I invited you to my house, and watched one of the aforementioned, you would be just like her? Kinda of hypocritical, right? Respectively saying.
Hard to imagine "Trigger" being such a fine actor. I mean, he's done Shakespeare and all sort of serious acting roles but Trigger..... absolutely brilliant. There can never be another. Thanks Roger, 😊😊😊
I used to watch this with my dad when I was a kid, and Trigger was one of my favourites characters, I couldn't believe it when he passed away. He was an amazing actor
Phoebe It's always part of the enjoyment, and of the happy memory of it, to watch with family. This was one of my dad's favorite shows, and I loved laughing with him.
I remember watching this episode when it first aired on the TV and I would recite the scene poorly to my friends, and piss myself telling the karaoke version line... This is an all time great comedic scene. The timing (especially), the setups, the punchline and the faces.. Epic stuff.

Best part is that Trigger remembered exactly that is was Mozarts 83 symphony in D major and everybody thinks , "WOW Trigger remembered t..." .It's the karaoke version.😂
Also notice the way Rodney looks around having put his Mozart on as if to say Look at me i’m very intelligent! Brilliant acting. And the long wait before Trigger says You put some music on then Dave. Nick Lyndhurst may have been thinking Come on then Roger deliver your line but His ( Roger) comic timing was brilliant!
I just love the mannerisms that Roger gave trigger giving the character reality God rest his soul and the other cast members we lost along the way ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Trigger was a one of a kind character. Del and Rodney were clearly great. But Trigger and the way Roger Lloyd Pack played him elevated them and Only Fools and Horses to another level. The best ever comedy character and sadly missed
Rodney:" You have to walk past the pub to get to this flat" Trigger:" Yeah, but Del said he'd give me a lift".... Classic and beautiful acting from Roger Lloyd Pack.... I love Trig.
Notice that in Roger Lloyd-Pack’s delivery, he never played it for laughs or over the top. He played it completely deadpan every time, and thank god for that
Everything about this Sketch is perfection.. Trigger stretching his arms on entrance Alright dave The passive aggressive reply to Rodney about getting a lift The perfect timing and facial expressions before asking the music on line I could go on... Perfection.
When I was in my last year in school in Scotland, I used to watch this whenever in was on and looking back it's like seeing relations one hasn't seen for a long time. I have such affection for all these characters /actors Iain w in glasgow x
Roger you were an absolute legend. Bar Del and Rodney you got the most laughs without question. Trigger was one of the funniest characters ever. (You were awesome as Owen in Vicar of DIbley) Thank you for the laughs Roger, you’re a legend. RIP.

That catchphrase "alright Dave" will never ever stop being funny. It's a genius piece of comedy.
Mike West the funny thing is, I actually know somebody called Dave and I saw him this morning. I nearly walked over to him and said "alright Dave?"
Michaela Coulthard 😂😂

You see David Jason break character. Roger Lloyd Pack must have ad libed.
