Just reviewed this myself. Awesome bar but personally I only use the chain and standard short handles with mine. Awesome review though! Professional and well made
Thank you I really appreciate that, that’s what I am shooting for! I just saw yours the other day too - When you said 25 degree camber, I was like what the heck did he get out a protractor and do some geometry here 😂 I agree completely on the handles, I’m pretty vanilla myself mainly just the short handles. I have to choke my grip way up on the long handles to use them, that plus then it technically is harder to store if you leave those on. if you are rehabbing a shoulder injury and need to keep your arms down could be helpful for people or people who have better body proportions for it, how I squat relative to my arms they always hit my legs if I use them how they should be gripped. In any case glad they offer options, still bummed REPs page says handles coming soon and it’s been 2 years…
Awesome in depth review of our SS4 bar! We put a lot of feedback from the community into this bar and we are so glad to see the features being showcased so well. 😄💪 We hope our bar serves you long and well!
Thank you! you can definitely tell you put alot of feature and quality together all for a really really good price. It's been going strong for a year so far and should be for many more to come
I bought this bar a year ago and it is a game changer for leg days. 1. SSB Squats (obviously) 2. SSB Split squats (much better than holding onto dumbbells imo) 3. Standing calf raise off of a block. 4. Good mornings
Ooh SSB split squats, that's definitely one exercise I need to do more frequently. Calf raises with this are also great, I actually had it fall off my shoulders because I was trying to shift how it was sitting (my fault) and it fell backward and my plates dented my platform so that was a bummer, but yes calf raise are great as long as you don't do something stupid like I did 🤣
Thanks Mark! I always felt so weak using the REP SSB because 1.) SSBs make squats harder so you have to use lower overall weight and 2.) couple with the 70LB starting weight, make me always feel like I had my warm weights on the bar ha
A good value SSB is definitely on the list of specialty bars I'd like to get at some point, thanks for the review! Any chance we'll see a review of any of the following: - Kingsmith Leg Extension/Curl machine. Seems similar to the new RitFit & Lionscool options with cable + cam mechanism for a better resistance profile but I think it looks a little nicer/better. - Gear for Fit Freestanding Leg Extension/Curl attachment. Cool compact option that works with almost any bench and has a decent resistance profile! - RitKeep Thunderbolt A10 Leg Press & Hack Squat combo. Unique features like large foot plate, lots of adjustment, and good weight capacity makes it seems like one of the best options around $1K! - Synergee Wing Back bench. Solid value bench with standard premium design for way less than most other comparables. - Eonfit Power Rack. Unique affordable/budget option with pivoting arms for the cable system.
you are welcome, I think this one definitely wins for best value (and best price when you get it on 10% off sale). I would like to review the Kingsmith one and the Gear for Fit Freestanding, but honestly already have weekly reviews booked through end of May. Alot of good stuff coming out that should hit very similar products. I can add these to my list if I can get my hands on them for sure, thanks for the suggestions!
Great review as usual. I also spied I BOS deadlift platform as well btw. Looking forward to that. Really leaning towards making my own but am interested in your thoughts before I pull the trigger.
Thanks Derick! Yes, I was able to get my own custom configuration for the sake of a review - I am really interested in that review (currently planned for March) because prior to this BoS option if you need one that is a narrow overall profile, 2x8 to be exact, you had/have to make your own pretty much. So excited that they thought it it, just need to keep testing how well it works!
Great review. I had Rep's SSB, and it is awesome. But, I'm in a tight space. Storing the bar and getting it from where i stored to the squat rack and back again was too cumbersome. It looks like Bells did a good job with this one.
This is actually a Bolt Fitness and Titan Fitness Hybrid rack (Bolt Fitness front posts with a built in smith machine, and the taller rear upright are Titan Fitness Titan Series). If you have the budget I highly recommend 3x3 not even for the sake of durability but because it is the gold standard for power racks so every and all companies make attachments or compatible products for this rack size. You never have to upgrade again after getting a 3x3 rack, preferably with 1 inch holes for maximum cross brand attachment compatibility
I would say short-er really just depends on the width of your plates. My pretty standard rubber coated olympic weights I can load up 495 on here. if you had thinner plates definitely can do over 600+. bumpers might eat up more space
Hello! Would the bar fit, a 48.5 inch rack? Made sure to measure the jcups from end to end. I am considering this bar for how light and customizable this is.
@@brainymeathead9206 yes! The rack I displayed it on here is 49 inches outside to outside, and the bar clearly had another inch or two or room on either side before the bend 48.5 is even shorter, so yes it will fit

Seems great!! The ones I’ve tried were always too big and heavy. This seems reasonable for us light weights lol
Great review!

Still better than Rogue lol
There aren't many they get wrong but from what I understand their SSB is low low down the totem pole in this category.

thank you! that was exactly my main problems with the REP too, plus the failed promise of additional handles after 2 years
What power rack is that? I'm currently selecting equipment for a garage gym and was curious if you'd recommend a 2x3 or 3x3 tube rack.

down fall is the sleeves are short

@ i can fit 3 bumpers on each side only
@@rickjames8087oh man, bumpers ruin all the fun

48.5 is even shorter, so yes it will fit
