BOS is putting out some good products. I love a good laugh at your unorthodox testing. Haha. I would love to see a blooper reel of some of those tests.
The weight stack option looks like a great value when compared to the rep and rogue alternatives. The aluminum pulleys definitely help set it apart from the budget options without being much more expensive. Thanks for reviewing it! I appreciate you being thorough with the tip test and bench positions!
Bell’s is definitely hitting a specific consumer with their cable machines and I’m here for it! Thanks to your review I’m glad I’ve gone big on my power rack and just added 1 cable tower but still might add the 2nd. Thanks Gluck for your attention to detail!

This thing would be perfect in my basement. Great job, BoS! I have a Rep PR 1100 with the plate loaded cable attachment, but this would be a nice upgrade. I like that it’s compact.
The rear delt fly "issue" is very easily fixed by simply using some rope extensions, or you can use the D handles that come with the machine and just grab the strap part. Lots of ways to add length to the cable.
I have the Bells Single stack tower and the pin is almost impossible to insert. I always have to mess with the trolley to get it to cooperate. I was jealous to see yours wasn't that way.
Just bought a big order from titan and rep with the affiliate links! Thanks for the great info, was exactly the details I needed. I’m making a Frankenstein titan/rep knockoff rouge 390fullw, rep bench and bar, titan x3 folding is the base and plates from titan.
I purchased one of these at the start of the year. Glad to see your opinion on them. This thing works great in my basement and me and my wife have very little complaints. One major design flaw we noticed. When using the seal row as a lat pulldown seat, the pin from the seat will rub on the cables ( bells shows this usage on their website). I noticed you used a bench instead and I’m curious to try it out this week. Thanks Gluck for everything you do!

Great review and for $1500 easily half the price of a good Rep Rack and cable system good solution for many who want to save $$. I don't see how you can put bench far enough back to do incline benches though. I laughed when your dips made it tip over good one!
Video is very helpful. Still, when they call out the part numbers, they make a few mistakes. Had to watch the video several times while following along with the manual to resolve this issue before starting the assembly.
Awesome job as usual! Do you think the pulley system here is similar to what rogue is doing with there new rack integrated system? Meaning a 2:1 per side that becomes a 1:1 when doing bilateral exercises (I would think so). The reason I ask is that would limit the travel of the cable during flys and may be a limitation of the Rogue system when compared to the Ares. Thanks for being awesome and keep it up!
I would think so but I'm hoping we can buy one to test it for a review. I've got some Athenas, the Ares, and some other systems we could compare it to.
Love the idea, but the proprietary upright sizing means I’d have to sell all my 3x3 accessories with my existing rack. Would be a pain to switch to this.
@@GlucksGym I think for someone who wants to only spend $1,000 and have access to the most amount of exercises as possible, this unit is tough to beat.
Great review… thanks! Here’s a question for you. Would you recommend these be put outside, (under a structure of course) but may be exposed to the elements from time to time? Thx
Great review, as always! This looked way more stable in your review than I expected without bolting it down. Did you get a chance to measure the cable travel when using both handles? It’s good to know they work for almost everything, but I am curious where they max out.
I greatly appreciate the honest and thorough review. This checks all the boxes for me. Just one question. Is there an attachmentthe Balls of Steel sells for this machine to keep your knees from lifting up during heavy lat pulldowns while using the middle upper row pulley? If so where would you attach it to the machine? Any light you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Not a bad option, but the depth wouldn't work for me. I went with two bells cable towers for the rack/functional trainer and then the ironmasters cable tower with seat for high/low pulls. My space is long and narrow so this setup works better. The units only come out around 27 inches from the wall. Also, it comes in around the same price point.
This is the style of rack I want to upgrade to one day. A rack with cables. Cause I only have space for one large piece of equipment. I would love to hear about other similar pieces like this to compare. And that’s available in Canada like Bells
Id be interested in a comparison pro con breakdown against the ForceUSA lineup They seemed to also really cram a lot of stuff in there without a lot of apparent trade offs, but like this product I wouldn't know at all without trying it in person or a review like this
If you didn't mind having it spaced away from the wall do you see any issues with having the weight stack flipped so the numbers are on the backside so you can easily put the pin in the back? I remember watching your review of Rep's Adonis cable tower. With that you called out that doing dips with the belt attached to the weight would rub the cable. Is this set up so you could do dips/chin ups with the weight attached to a belt? Thanks for all the reviews you do!
@glucksgym how do you rate the sliding actions on the sides ? is there any tightness when moving the functional trainer adjustment guides up and down the rails?
Sliding of the trolleys goes pretty smoothly. What is not smooth is the pulley system movement. I just assembled mine and it was SUPER clunky with friction not even letting the stack go back down all the way after release. After applying silicone 3 in 1 to all cables, pulleys and guiding rods it is much better. Seems the plastic bushings on the stacks and on the top plate need to be broken in. 🤞🏽
Right before these came out i bought a rack with a pulley attachment... For quite a bit less than these. These would take up less space and that's about it
Can you do a ROGUE FM-HR FUNCTIONAL TRAINER review? so excited for it and new to know if its superior to rep or force usa g6 or g12 before buying the ROGUE FM-HR FUNCTIONAL TRAINER.
Not really. When the storage plate is oriented towards the sides the pin rubs against the lat pull down cable. When oriented towards the front it gets in the way of movement, bench or other attachments. I wish the put some holes on the back legs and made a barbell storage attachment. Foe plates storage I would prefer they had figured out a way to place the the welded ones vertically instead of horizontal.
BOS All In One Trainer vs a set of BOS Cable Towers ? Can the All In One mount a monolift arms? What is the maximum weight you can have on the uprights? Can it handle a 500lbs+ squat (bolted down obviously).
The All in One can use Bells 60mm Monolift Attachment but we haven't tested it. Technically so could two of their Cable Towers. The weight capacity on the All in One is 750lbs. I think either depends on what you're going to do with it. Two cable towers bolted down (weight stack) would be pretty cool too. They both have their limitations.
BOS customer support very poor. Try to call and they are always closed and do not reply to emails. I ordered this machine on 20th and said it would ship by the 31st but have not heard anything.
Use spotter arms as J hooks? I don't see why you couldn't, except having that much weight, that high off the ground, and that far away from the unit would likely be a dangerous tipping hazard.
Wondering if you had an iron master bench and moved the seat up to the middle or highest setting if it might be enough to work with the regular j-hooks?

One thing I’m looking for that none of these guys divulge would be the lightest “feels like” resistance available. It matters for those who need light resistance to start with for things like side delt raises. Does lightest (top) plate have an equivalent weight of 5 pounds? 2 1/2 pounds? 10? How about the plate loaded without plates? Fewer people could give a rats ass if the stack total is 80 pounds or 90 or 900 (lol) but the lightest weight useable is never given, or very, very rarely discussed at all in these reviews!
It's something we've mentioned and talked about in several of these reviews. I feel like a broken record when I say 10lbs is fine for me but it's too much for my wife on things like delt raises. It's probably easy to watch and assume we've glossed over or skipped things but the reality is a video like this took a ton of time to make with all the testing, research, etc. The plates are 10lbs each, with a 2:1 ratio the top plate gives you a little over 5lbs of resistance as there's additional weight and a lot of pulleys etc so it's not exact.
This is important to me as well. A week in after assembly. The pulley-cable movement overall feels clunky. Even after lubricating the guiding rods (black gunk from the plastic bushings friction very noticeable). Also lubricated all cables and pulleys. Better but still clunky, specially at lower weights. With only the single 10 lbs top plate… it doesn’t even go back down all the way. I think this is a parts tolerance issue that requires some breaking in. On the positive side, the stack easily accommodates MicroGainz 1.25lbs plates. I got 4 of these and think using them in pairs (one over each side) would be best practice as to not interfere with the alignment of plate-to-rods further compromising smoothness.
After watching your review and others I ordered the All In One Trainer... Unfortunately, dealing with them has been the worst experience ever!!!
