    Yours is the more traditional recipe for bouillabaisse. It's so versatile, that you can throw any fish or shellfish into it. Thanks for the baguette tip. I wish I had known about this tip two baguettes ago. 😕

      I watched your video several times: write down an ingredient, pause, rewind, write down another ingredient, watch, pause.... and then went to the store. I was able to find Seafood Stock (the box container type) for...you may want to hold onto something...for 25 cents. Yes, that is correct. I just wanted to say that this recipe was ABSOLUTLEY WONDERFUL!! You're right, it is definitely 'company worthy'. My husband went back for seconds and then ate the leftovers the next night. Say, have you ever thought of writing a cookbook? Thank you for the recipe and love your channel!

      Java Junkie Wow! 25 cents?! That's amazing! So glad you enjoyed this recipe. I have thought about writing a recipe book but needing more time! I greatly appreciate your encouragement and support. Thank you! ❤

    Yummy! Your recipe brought back memories!! I miss my home town of San Francisco where in North Beach you can get cioppino, the Italian fish stew. Guess I need to go do a Costco run for the crab meat! That soup looks equally delicious to cioppino!! I learn so much from your videos. Thank you!

    Love your vids, was actually curious about soups--is ten minutes a good general rule of thumb for soups? What if you had say cubed potatoes or butternut squash, would ten minutes be adequate (trying to adapt a recipe of my own). Please keep your instant pot videos coming! :)

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  7 років тому

      +shartanne Depends on how big you cut up your veggies. You probably don't want them melting away unless you plan to purée the soup. If I cut up potatoes into 2" chunks, they are cooked by 5 mins and will hold their shape. Often 5 mins will do but I wanted more intense flavour here so I cooked it longer. I appreciate the encouragement! Thanks!

    Sharks are fish (and primitive fish at that, they aren't even vertebrates). Whales, Manatees and Porpoises are fully aquatic mammals. Dolphins are...troublesome. The Mahi-Mahi, also known as a Dorado, also known as a Dolphin fish is a fish. Bottlenose Dolphins (like Flipper) are mammals.

      I cook for 3 adults and 2 tweens. They are a bunch of piggies, so I want to say they ate it all but I think this made a lot. Probably enough to feed 6 adults as a main course.

    Could the stew itself be thickened up a bit with a roux? Or would it take away from it? Trying to have a less watery, thicker stew

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 років тому

      +hawkeye93ify Bouillabaisse is not intended to be thick like beef stew or a chowder. It is supposed to be like a broth.

    Dry white wine in place of the stock (all or part use a bottle of good stuff - 1 glass). Thank me later! ;-)

    Would Asian fish sauce in water make a good fish base?

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  6 років тому

      No... please don’t do that. 😉 It would be similar to diluting soy sauce to make a soup base.

      Mel Mack The Québécois are the only ones who can really make an argument that they aren’t. Canada’s entire identity revolves around not being America. But no one can tell the difference, when you go overseas. You guys wear little Canadian flags just so people know. It’s embarrassing. Canada is like a woman who does nothing but bitch about her drug addicted sister, but she still works at McDonald’s. Like you’re not as shitty as the US. We get it, Shut up.
