So you check the clearance. What do you do if clearance is too much? Bring them back and get new ones? I know they are not adjustable. Thank for your videos!
I have never checked one that had unacceptable clearance. If it is off it is usually because some one removed to little or too much when machining the crank Or if the crank has not been machined ,it could be wore out, and needs to be re machined. Maybe special bearings could be ordered if you are a couple of thousands of an inch off..Or the crank shaft would have to be corrected at a machine .shop. I do know that bearings come in standard, .010 under, and .020 under. Thanks for watching.
"Ford performance" has a nice section on building a 427 SOHC engine. What do you think of Pond motorsports SOHC parts. Have you heard anything about them
Dude your videos are great, really enjoy watching them. Love your Fairlane and Torino. But in this video it was unclear which way you put the seal in visually. But you said the leading edge of the lip seal goes towards the back of the engine. If you find yourself with a slight oil leak, that is it. But the plus side is it's not a skirted block, same as all Chevrolets. You can snake a new seal in without pulling the crank. Just drop the pan and rear main and slip a new one in there. Can be done at the track. Not a Chevrolet guy, just an engine guy they, all serve there purpose and last I checked none of them sponsor me? Just as long as it's American Muscle!
Putting your drag car engine together in the garage and raining outside now that's living! Good job!!
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for responding. I know the video is older but it is still very helpful!

Was this a stock build/mild/hi perf? Building a mild 466, ended up with the same clearances as you but with. 002 on #1 instead of the rear.
Its a bracket race engine.

Thanks for watching, and the heads up info on the seal. It was put in correctly. No leaks after startup.
Ignore the bow tie trolls, bro.
