    I absolutely love your videos! So easy to follow and you explain everything so well!
    I have only recently started decoupage and love it! I’ve made a few coasters and they have been successful, however, I’m struggling with painting the edges? I have tried using the sponges like you suggested, but it ends up going onto the front of the coaster and ruining them :( any suggestions? What am I doing wrong xxx

      Thank you so much! Maybe try applying less paint, get your brush almost dry, but if you look on my coasters, I also have paint that goes over the front, it overlaps paper and creates this faded edge. Hope this helps xx

    Absolutely marvellous idea, exactly what I was looking for.🎉 This pouring water on napkin instead of spraying makes big difference. I even didn't need to brush it, just moving was enough to make napkin perfectly flat - no bubbles, no wrinkles. I like this idea not using any decoupage glue on coaster/ tile surface. I was worried that even if this is sealed, glue may become sticky under varnish when used for hot drink. I also love Polyvine products, they are the winners, include crackling mediums. Also is important that this company is UK brand, this helps cut delivery expenses as most products are USA brands, expensive in UK + delivery cost. Thank you so much for sharing this technique, I always watch your videos 😂 Agata from UK

    Hello! First time viewer… love your video and coasters. Question, please: Do you let your napkin dry before applying the Polyvine varnish?
    Also, I purchased the Polyvine that has 1 shell on the front. I noticed the formula you are using has 3 shells. The formula I bought is still heat resistant, but is very thick. Do you think I can use it? Could I maybe thin it with water? So sorry for so many questions. It’s very hard when first getting started. Thank you so much 💕

    I have tried your wet method of decoupaging napkins and have had positive results on the whole. I used Wilco matt varnish which says it is heat resistant but a hot drink still sticks to it even after a few days drying. Do you find the Polyvine varnish does this? You are very talented and I have enjoyed your demos and learnt a lot.

    • @IvetaZiedina
      @IvetaZiedina  4 роки тому +1

      I found that all of the varnishes that I've tried so far still stick no matter what it says on the tin, the only one that doesn't or hasn't so far is Polyvine heavy duty one (the one with shells on it) that I use in the video. So I now use it very sparingly as it is pricey but definitely a good investment if you do a lot of placemats and coasters. And thank you for your kind words

    These coasters are so lovely! I’ve wanted to make my own for some time now, but just haven’t taken time to do it.
    Do you have any suggestions as to how I could use some of my leftover wallpaper used on a feature wall in my home, to make matching coasters for my bar cart?
    Thank you in advance, your work is so lovely. Any suggestions would be so appreciated!
    Hope you have a brilliant 2022! 🥰

      A video I just got done watching shows that you could get blank square coasters from the dollar tree. Cut the wall paper slightly smaller than the coaster. Use decoupage to glue it down, use decoupage on top of it and then coat it with acrylic spray paint.

    Thanks for all your videos and sharing your ideas. I sure this is a learning curve but this is so cool, like the finish better then modpodge. Mod podge and me dont get along. It streaks or stay sticky I am not a big fan. I tired to do a plate with napkin and fabric and it left white streaks that still was there after 3 days. Question can these be washed with a damp cloth?

    I realize you’re using unfinished wood coasters that you seal and sand before using. Have you tried an MDF product that already has a slick white finish? I’m wondering if I’d need to lightly sand it before applying the napkin in order to assure it adheres well.

    • @IvetaZiedina
      @IvetaZiedina  4 роки тому

      Yeah I've bought pre-primed mdf coasters before and decoupaged straight on to them, depending on how slick the surface is of course you might have to give it a light sand if its very glossy or something but for the most part I think you should be ok :)

      Wrapping paper will definitely work, just make sure you soak it in water before you apply it on top so that it soaks up the glue or varnish That you use. So apply 1 layer of glue, then put on your soaked wrapping paper on and using a foam roller or a plastic card through a plastic wallet get all the bubbles out.
