It is with great sadness that Sir John Hurt, who played Nostromo Executive Officer Kane, has succumbed to cancer at the age of 77. I dedicate this track to his memory.
This is the most depressing track from the whole soundtrack. A true masterpiece.

Goldsmith really captured the crew's mood in this short piece, after witnessing Kane's atrocious end. You can also feel the cold vastness of the cosmos, in which the Nostromo seems to float like an adrift vessel.
Those little back and forth flute chords are one of the most recognizable elements of the Alien score, besides the ghostly wind noise you hear at the very beginning of the film, and at other moments.
This movie and Isolation are the only ones that live up to this track. Even though I don't remember it in isolation, I'm sure there was a similar bit in Aliens. 1:01-1:15 etched the scene into me (and does everytime)
the screen they all cluster round in the movie is Kane's bridge station. that's his headset by the computer. turns out space isn't very nice & we have no business being in the LV system. the ancient, dormant horror on LV 426 barely even noticed the Nostromo. they awakened one egg and it reached out & destroyed the whole ship.
You guys should check out this fan-made 35th Anniversary Poster for the movie. It looks f*cking cool! wegotthiscovered.com/movies/35th-anniversary-posters-ridley-scotts-alien-remember-classic/ In fact, stare at the poster while listening to this 'Into Eternity' song from 0:52 - 1:40. ;) It brings back that moody atmosphere that you'd tend to feel when watching this movie.

Ironic that he died by having something growing inside him...
Our generation is born too early to explore the Universe. We will never know what miracles, horrors and phenomenons are out there.
Humanity is too young and immature to know what is truly beyond the Sol system
I love the feeling that this track inspires. The vastness of space and how truly alone the Nostromo is
In space no one can hear you scream.
and how truly screwed they are

Álvaro G. Plata I you haven't: check out Jerry Goldsmiths music for Star Trek The motion picture. Another true masterpiece from Jerry.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I agree STAR TREK TMP is an amazing and gorgeous soundtrack. My fave one is "The Meld" so beautiful.
+Laura Susan Johnson I also like "The Meld" the most. Gorgeous music. "Ilia's Theme" , "The Enterprise" and "Spock Walk" are also fantastic.
I really feel this piece of music.
Goodbye forever Kane.
R.I.P John Hurt
In many ways this track, particularly the last 25 seconds, is the motif for the entire film.
Doesn't get much darker or brilliant than this.
R.I.P john hurt from alien franchise

"Anybody want to say anything?"

Rewind! Love this moment... So sad and so intense!
not you, you twit
i think (for beer) miller high life is the only choice! :)
"Kane you dumbass, you're gonna get us all killed"
"Into Eternity" has always been my favorite track.
I'm going to have this played at my funeral when they load me into the incinerator.
Superb soundtrack both majestic and eerie.
I love the music at 1:16
It's the phrase that says "Alien series" more than anything else, other than that creepy "wooooo" sound.
hambone1138 what do you mean?

Silly Jackster They play that part in Alien: Covenant.

I never knew that was his console (with the Racal-Amplivox RA-150 Minilite communications headset) in the Nostromo's main control room.
Very poignant...poor Kane :(
L'angoscia di un mondo senza religione.
Pretty sad and scary to think that Kane's floating body was probably never found
Curiosity kills the Kane
Groovy.
Można dobrze tutaj spać
Bit of that star trek 2 motif in this
Except Alien came out before this.
"What are my chances?"
+MateoKalifas420 Does not compute
This scene was cut from the director's cut.
Insured... lol
"You don't want to know"
“I can’t lie about your chances…But… you have my sympathies.”
“…anybody want to say something?”
Kane you dumbass! You're going to get everyone (except Ripley) killed!
Goldsmith was a genius
LOL I'm listening to this playlist running Cargo CG's in Elite.....
michael barnhart I agree 100%
I want a movie where they find the Alien and Kane floating through space
In the vastness of deep space, it would take a while to find one dead body (Kane) or one live Xenomorph just floating around
@@jimhuffman9434 I just can't stop imagining a movie like that and how jawdropping it would be
@t_random_videos I didn't say it was alive, like they found the corpse and they go investigate more
@@godzillix7955 So... did you go watch Romulus?

I always wondered if Ripley was praying in that scene
Anyone have anything to say?
Kane you dipship, you've screwed us all!
