Great video and driving. These are the videos that are truly helpful to someone like me who's looking to buy... it's nice to see real world comparisons vs paper comparisons.
Todays truck's are priced for super stars not for the average blue collar worker, and to put a finger point to that. We can't really work on them any more. The one thing most could take pride in doing now is gone. Not to mention the price to fix them. That's the real kicker $$$$ So as you watch all theses super stars show how good it is, just remember what we are loosing. And that's a lot!!!
Wouldn't a Raptor 37 be a better opponent, I only thought they got the Raptor R because they still had some time with it after the drag race, but they seems to really focus on the price, which really is just for the engine and cool stickers.
The RHO is cheaper than the base Raptor though and makes 100hp more. So it really doesn't matter which truck they pair it against. The RHO has a nicer interior as well.
When snow wheeling you guys should wear a winter beanie and leather gloves to stay warm in the winter. Just saying this as a suggestion for staying warm during the winter weather.Thank you for the video.
You can definitely see the Ram 🐏 out perform the Raptor on Razor Rock. To much slipping. Front wheel on the Ram would lock up with abs way before the Raptor. These trucks are toys. I drive an AEV Prospector Power Wagon on 37's and is a tool. Great video, as always. Ram wins 🏆 again. Real world reviews. Before the power wagon Before willys Before jeep Dodge 1.5 ton 4x4 military truck since 1934.
Dude! And every guy, including myself who’s ever been out in a four-wheel with buddies who own Fords knows this and what happens halfway through the trip as you start seeing them finding excuses to go home or something else they gotta do they don’t wanna be embarrassed any longer and they bow out seen it half a dozen times And the guys who didn’t bow out always say “well I gotta go home and figure out what’s wrong with my truck cause this thing usually rips on the trail and I leave everyone behind but today it didn’t do very well“ lol and I always laugh. Well this is par for the coursefor me in my ram leading. There’s a reason there’s a tow hook on every Ford.
I'd say the RHO kicked the Raptor's butt in this one. Climbed better, handled the obsacles better (and with 37" tires to equalize against the Raptor, wouldn't have scraped at all) and is $30K cheaper. And yes, it looks better!
Yeah, you could upgrade to 37" tires for far less than $30k. The RHO also has a better front diff than the Raptor R. IMO it certainly looks better. The interior alone is in it's own league, as usual. Ford guys will continue to shill though.
You guys are crazy if you think $114k is what people are actually paying. Minimum $10k markup, likely $20k. When you compare the RHO actual vs Raptor R actual $45k - $50k difference.
I would go with the regular Raptor f150 with the 3.5. Put a tune on it and save a ton of money and be neck and neck. Raptor suspension still dominates off-road. Ram is trying to hit the sweet spot between Fords Raptor models and has really done a good job. Engine reliability would be a wait and see.
Goosetuned with E50 puts 500 HP to the wheels (or about 588 at the crank). 0-60 in about 4.5. so yeah i agree with you. but you have to run ethanol. with 91 octane you are looking at 444 WHP and 522 at the crank and still a sub 5 0-60
It dominates in your dreams buckwheat. I’ve been out with plenty in the TRX and they always back off because they’re afraid to break their little babies so it becomes Dodge country to do the heavy lifting
Great comparison video guys! I was sold on the RHO until I learned about the thermostat failures happening between 10-30k miles with other vehicles that have the Hurricane 3.0. If the thermostat gets stuck in the closed position, it will cause permanent engine damage with a warped head and block being the result. You won't see anything on the dipstick because there isn't one on this engine. You will need to look for the "milkshake" by looking at the inside of the oil fill cap. It's possible this issue has been resolved and maybe someone will chime in on this. The other issue I see with this engine is the plastic thermostat housing. Yep, plastic. That was a bad engineering decision to make the housing out of plastic. Both the thermostat and its housing is a PITA to replace if/when it comes time. I'm unsure if these parts fall under the powertrain warranty so an extended warranty may add some peace of mind. It's ironic that an engine called Hurricane has water problems. For me, I'm staying away from the Hurricane!
The hurricane is a brand new platform and many brands have had issues with new tech. Saying you will "stay away from the Hurricane" makes you come off as biased, as Toyota's were blowing up engines for the past year now and no one says they'll "stay away" from Toyota.
@@jc6618 Exactly, Ford has tons of recalls and problems. The Hurricane is a brand new platform and will have some teething pains. Certainly nothing to worry about in the long run. Also, the Hurricane isn't a "Stellantis engine", considering it is built in the US by Chrysler engineers, and shares less that 3% of its architecture with other engines.
"Pull the bandage off" is funny. I don't understand why car manufacturers build a so-called extreme 4x4 with side steps. If the car manufacturer is installing 1 or 2 lockers, 35-37 inch tires, and skid plates, it should also have rock sliders. Car manufacturers need to start including a simple way to deactivate all the sensors/alarms when off-road.
@@is6566 It doesn't matter what the owner does with the 4x4 because it's designed to be an off-road vehicle. I've seen well designed aftermarket rock sliders that can also be used as a side step. Why go to the trouble of putting skid plates on a truck but then install side steps for a street truck that doesn't prevent a rock from damaging the door frame?
@aeryn… One of the worst offender is the Taco TRD Off-road with Predator steps installed by the distributors. The shape of those steps by protruding out looks as if they were designed to catch rocks and trees.
The question is.... How many more $ for a moon/sun roof and bedliner for the RHO? If included, what is the price difference? Next, can 37" tires be placed on the RHO? I love your videos. It is so easy sitting in my chair and watching you off road and not being nervous.
There's a lot of disagreement on the subject. My opinion is, since it wasn't deep it probably wouldn't make much difference. However I would have aired down around 5 psi myself.
The reason I say I'm happy with the engine in my 3rd gen Tacoma because it's 2000 lb lighter (4,500lbs) than these trucks. Anything I've thrown at that Tacoma TRD off-road 4X4 it has done VERY well had a lot of fun in Phoenix lake pleasant area & around crown King there's all kinds of trails. I don't go on anything hardcore but still doing what it does is amazing 🤩 you don't need to spend $80,000 to have a great time my truck was $41,000 with 120,000 mi warranty, manual transmission & probably more reliable haha... I just put on sumo spring bump stops to help with the washboard roads & when I'm towing, I also got it OTT tuned
Have been on many many outings with TRX Jeep Rubicon’s for Broncos Raptors raptor R’s and the Fords are always notorious for the worst four-wheel-drive systems always bringing up the back of the pack, there’s a reason there’s a tow hook on the front of every Ford.
Sure guys, compare testing a truck that cost $30K less to the Rap R should have been more like the RHO against the Rap Eco to make it fair. That video would be more realistic. I've only seen Rap R owners be pavement princess's with all kinds of accessories to show off that the owners got all kinds of money to spend on their toys.
For those looking to off-road their RHO, do not buy those steps. Clearly lost several inches of clearance over the rocks. Other than that, sweet truck!
Raptor has the steps as well. The steps on the RHO sit higher than the skid plates underneath and they help with gravel/rock chips in the paint. If the RHO had the 37s that the Ford does, it wouldn't have scraped the rock at all.
The Steps was a perfect example of why the front Torsen should not have been removed on the R specifically! Any why they haven’t thrown in front lockers on the F-150 Raptors is a mystery to me. They should just do as they do with the Ranger and Bronco Raptors and just give it to the people. The front Torsen with rear locking diff should be reserved for the Tremor line of vehicles and front and rear lockers for Raptors.
Dude, if you go Whelan with any of your Ford buddies in a ram, that’s 10 years older than them they will find excuses not to do it because they will get shown up by a vehicle that cost 20% of what they paid and a decade older Ford never competesI’ve seen it so many times to the point I can’t find Anybody Who Dr., Fords that wanna go wheeling with anything made by Jeep or ram. They usually go out with the Chevy guys and they’re very closely matched inept.
Still wish Ford continued to make the short cab version with the rear suicide doors. My 2020 Raptor is the last year they made them. 12” shorter wheelbase and it has a Torsen front diff.
IMO both are overpriced by $30-$40k. And any truck marketed as "off road" needs front and rear lockers or it shouldn't have that badging. And Andrey's problem is he lets off power or hits the brakes every foot or two. As Roman said, "Sometimes you just have to stay in it'. Stellantis is rumored to have a big price drop in the next few weeks, I'd wait until that happens.
Hi guys at tfl! I don't what upgrade you have down to your video equipment. It's very noticeable I wish all the other bloggers would do the same. Happy holidays
tbh will choose the raptor r even if it is more expensive bcse if you r ready to spend 85k on a pickup might as well go for the supercharged v8 , also feel like the raptor r s might hold their values a bit better in the future compared to a downsize....
The extra weight helped the RHO in low traction conditions it looks like. But either one seems like a fair deal. With the pricing difference the RHO almost makes you ok with 200 less horsepowers. 👍 Is the raptor r still towing 3000lbs less or did they match the 10k? That would be a good decider.
They're cool and all, but I think the days of people willing to go into 100k of dept for a freaking pickup are more or less over. As is apparent from the mountains of unsold 80k+ trucks sitting on the lots.
0:51 Wow. Over $80,000 and over $100,000, I don’t see how they sell many these and unless people are doing extremely well financially, they must be swimming in debt if they buy one.
😂😂 and that’s if you just compare the traction alone on the much bigger tires and it’s much less capable because it doesn’t care about their clients. They wanted to save the money so they took out the torsion system and guess what you get paid back by being a loyalist by getting screwed
Of all the trucks TFL has tested on the Razor Rocks the best one is still the Canyon AT4X. No slip, no stutter, constant movement, plenty of clearance. If a midsize truck can work for your life they have the best potential for off-roading despite the slightly smaller tires. Especially with ones that have a front locker like the AT4X or Ranger Raptor. Plus these heavy trucks rip up trails so bad it makes wash out 10x worse
@ afraid of depreciation or just in to flip it and make some $$. You would be surprised how many people buy vehicles in this price range and just park them. I don’t know how you could, it’s IMO the best daily driver sub $300k. And I’m really not sure I would have any more fun in a Urus.
Hey Andre .. How do you think gmc at4x aev 1500 I 6 duramax would have done today vs these two?? Obviously these are in another leage of their own.. but as far as climbing and rock crawling .. with front and rear lockers
I wouldn't buy either of those trucks, but I still like watching the videos. Manufacturers have gone insane with pricing. I bought my 2019 Tundra for 51k out the door and its all the truck I need. Not impressed with these bells and whistles. My first truck was an old 79 suburban with a lift that went anywhere. Not too crazy with the tires or anything. An extra 1500 bucks in parts total maybe. This was in the early 2000s. Big meaty solid axles and a 4wd system that was dependable and simple. I had 2 more suburbans after that and if it couldn't get me there, I didn't need to be there. 2

@@bradleymckinney83 I see it the other way around
@@DWH300 diff perspective, I like it we all have em... Which part in particular do u see the other way around if I dont mind me asking? I know it's not the part about them being biased towards Ford they are in every single video. Thanks for the reply though.. hope to hear back from ya !
These are great $65,000.00 trucks! On a side note. hardware stores sell "High-visibility Water-based Marking Paint" in assorted colors. The paint is great for marking the ground if you want to repeat your path.
Yeah, you can imagine the first service would love seeing orange paint sprayed on the ground by a UA-cam channel. It will be there for years.
@@AmericanSurvival001 Have you ever been around construction sites and saw the orange ground or the grass coming up orange? Sorry, it doesn't happen because the paint dissolves in a week or two. It's temporary marking paint. Firms that mark underground cables or pipes use it.
Laurel and Hardy on the trail😂. Nice work guys. Happy Holidays to you.
Thanks, happy holidays to you too!
The RHO seems to have better traction on Razor Rocks. The Raptor's front right wheel spun more till the left side had drive.
Driving through already packed snow makes it easier for the Ford.
I would pick RHO I love the comparison videos.
Great video and driving. These are the videos that are truly helpful to someone like me who's looking to buy... it's nice to see real world comparisons vs paper comparisons.
You guys never disappoint. Hello from Puerto Rico.
Good point.
This ram is a beast!
Visually RHO looks better
Lmfao no it doesn't
Just a bloated version of a 15 year old look
I do like the look of the rho but it's definitely not better the the raptor
Lmao ,yes it does. What a stupid argument.
@@DEACONR6155 Yes it does
When snow wheeling you guys should wear a winter beanie and leather gloves to stay warm in the winter.
T looks like it is cold & windy & kudos for you guys braving the elements;S to bring this video to everyone. THANK YOU
I kinda knew the Ram would do better off road, every one that I have had the past 50 yrs has done better than Fords ✌💖☮
@@AmericanSurvival001 well said man, well said! Theres a reason they are called gurly ford fan bois ESPECIALLY those slowstang drivers
I'd say the RHO kicked the Raptor's butt in this one. Climbed better, handled the obsacles better (and with 37" tires to equalize against the Raptor, wouldn't have scraped at all) and is $30K cheaper. And yes, it looks better!
And broke down shortly after. 😅😅😅
And broke down shortly after.😅😅😅
Yeah, you could upgrade to 37" tires for far less than $30k. The RHO also has a better front diff than the Raptor R. IMO it certainly looks better. The interior alone is in it's own league, as usual. Ford guys will continue to shill though.
Amen 🙏
Put that dam crack pipe down. You can't even compare a Fiat to a Ford
Off-roading isn't my thing, but this was interesting. Andre was so intense about his driving, and Roman was his instigator.
Excellent video i think RHO was better!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The biggest problem with the Raptor R is the artificial scarcity. Make more of them and the price issue solves itself.
Another Awesome video... Merry Christmas
Same to you
Got to go real high up in elevation to see any snow for those guys. It's 60 in Boulder for the next week.
Same down here in Albuquerque. It's becoming disconcerting
You guys are crazy if you think $114k is what people are actually paying. Minimum $10k markup, likely $20k. When you compare the RHO actual vs Raptor R actual $45k - $50k difference.
Ford struggling as usual. Imagine swapping some 37’s onto that RHO! 😮
Unstoppable.
RHO is a sweet truck 🫡👌🏻
Nice Ram. It’s very difficult watching Andre off road.
@ecu4awhile yes I didn't want to run Ethanol, but I do run 93 in it. It does make a slight difference.
It dominates in your dreams buckwheat. I’ve been out with plenty in the TRX and they always back off because they’re afraid to break their little babies so it becomes Dodge country to do the heavy lifting
Andrea is a little TOO scary sometimes. Enjoy the truck for all it is worth. I love these types of videos, great job.
That's ok, others will buy it
The hurricane is a brand new platform and many brands have had issues with new tech. Saying you will "stay away from the Hurricane" makes you come off as biased, as Toyota's were blowing up engines for the past year now and no one says they'll "stay away" from Toyota.
It's covered under warranty so who cares new engine at 30,000 😂
@@PyroBlonde7777 I actually prefer the RHO vs the Raptor. Who knows, maybe we'll see a TRX comeback!
@@dor1tomcswagger69 How long do you think you will be parted from your truck for that engine swap?
The RHO didn’t struggle as bad as the raptor and it’s a supercharger V8 sad. Oh with 37 also
What an EXTREME offroad test...😂 Scared to death of a literally rocky road...
I think I go with the ram myself
Make sure to get an extended warranty, they are already having issues with these stellantis engines.
Oh that ram quality 😂
Say what you want about Ram, and I’m no fanboy, but pretty sure Ford are always cost to or at #1 for recalls..
That would change after several trips to the dealership.
Because 99.99999999999% of ‘extreme 4x4’s never, ever, go anywhere but pavement. Surely you cannot be THAT stupid.
I'd run my Colorado Trail Boss up that with no problems. It has lockers front and rear and rock sliders.
@mike…. Agree with pavement comment but are you having a bad day?
Not sure why you guys did not lower the tire pressure
Great vid and review of the RHO. I can't wait to get my hands on mine. Sadly RAM has messed up the ordering process.
I was more impressed with the RHO
Nice video keep up the great work TFL
Glad you enjoyed it!
haha andre you are so dramatic. wheels on the raptor look sweet. great looking truck
Both nice trucks , my question, which tires were better , KO 2 or Ko3?
Sure guys, compare testing a truck that cost $30K less to the Rap R should have been more like the RHO against the Rap Eco to make it fair. That video would be more realistic. I've only seen Rap R owners be pavement princess's with all kinds of accessories to show off that the owners got all kinds of money to spend on their toys.
Your insecurities are showing. It’s all first world problems, no need to be down on bros that have more than you.
Never seen one person, that being said you just sound like a hater.
The RHO and Rap R are more closely equipped, the Rap Eco comes with 33’s out of the box so that would really set it back in this testing.
Ah no the raptor v6 comes with 35s! In fact every generation of raptors had 35s@@crappy60
@@bengarcia1091 really? I thought 33’s. Well I learned something new. I do know 37’s are an option for the Raptors nowadays.
16:00 Interesting suggestion. Maybe off-road trailer testing, soon?
For those looking to off-road their RHO, do not buy those steps. Clearly lost several inches of clearance over the rocks. Other than that, sweet truck!
Raptor has the steps as well. The steps on the RHO sit higher than the skid plates underneath and they help with gravel/rock chips in the paint. If the RHO had the 37s that the Ford does, it wouldn't have scraped the rock at all.
I don’t believe Andre. There is no universe where somebody purposely chooses the RHO over the Raptor R where price is not a factor.
7:29 Once you start going keep consistent acceleration and do not stop then that’s when you start spinning more at lose momentum
Another video of two great trucks looking for one great driver.
Andre seems to have severe anxiety. I thought my anxiety was bad. Holy hell. I feel bad for ya 😂😂😂
you guys have to keep the comparison between the EcoBoost raptor and the Rho!
Tapping out on this one.

It's always a "game of inches!!" Ha!! Love you Guys... Happy Holidays TFL!!
Andre is great, but we need somebody who isn't crapping their pants the whole time, lol. TFL needs a Stig for off road driving 😊
Andre can’t be replaced
tbh will choose the raptor r even if it is more expensive bcse if you r ready to spend 85k on a pickup might as well go for the supercharged v8 , also feel like the raptor r s might hold their values a bit better in the future compared to a downsize....
Probably be a little easier on you if you aired the tires down
The extra weight helped the RHO in low traction conditions it looks like. But either one seems like a fair deal. With the pricing difference the RHO almost makes you ok with 200 less horsepowers. 👍
Is the raptor r still towing 3000lbs less or did they match the 10k? That would be a good decider.
With money in hand, to buy either truck, which do you recommend, the RHO or the Raptor R? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
They're cool and all, but I think the days of people willing to go into 100k of dept for a freaking pickup are more or less over. As is apparent from the mountains of unsold 80k+ trucks sitting on the lots.
100k cars sell better than 100k trucks?
@@silvergeoff568 people don't want either option, at the moment. It's just too much money for what it is.
0:51 Wow. Over $80,000 and over $100,000, I don’t see how they sell many these and unless people are doing extremely well financially, they must be swimming in debt if they buy one.
The Ram is a nice truck. No way the Ford is worth 30k more
😂😂 and that’s if you just compare the traction alone on the much bigger tires and it’s much less capable because it doesn’t care about their clients. They wanted to save the money so they took out the torsion system and guess what you get paid back by being a loyalist by getting screwed
Does Andre pick eating establishments the same way?😅😅😅JK enjoy it all!
I own a trx but I build the zr2 and canyon for a living so seeing this comment really puts smile on my face

@ afraid of depreciation or just in to flip it and make some $$.
You would be surprised how many people buy vehicles in this price range and just park them.
I don’t know how you could, it’s IMO the best daily driver sub $300k. And I’m really not sure I would have any more fun in a Urus.
I would be terrified scratching up these awesome trucks. Don't have that problem with my 30yr old mighty max :p
Seems as though the Goodyear wrangler MT tires on the RHO were better in the snow than the BF Goodrich KO2, or that what it look like in this video
You take some really strange lines. An offroad driving course or two might be in order.

Thank you! Cheers!
the real question is do they have cruise control.
RHO is the better truck. Better value, and way better features and styling
Raptor smashed it.
