Hey Reagan! I’m also a big fan of the Gentleman Bastard (The Lies of Locke Lamora) series! The fourth book is called The Thorn of Emberlain, and I believe it’s coming out next year! At least, that’s what BookDepository said. We’re also getting a prequel novel next year!! I’m so excited!!
So excited to see that you are planing to read the Wheel of time. It’s one of my all time favorite series, the books that Sanderson wrote are just amazing
I'm just getting into books (except for non-fiction) and I'm so excited. Personally I really wanna read Gideon and the Upon the burning throne but I'm afraid they might feel too long. Loved the video, have a great day.
As a fellow fantasy lover, I only read Eye of the World this year! I thought it’d be a 5 but it was a 4.5 for me but I still loved it and can’t wait to continue. It does an awesome job of introducing you to lots of characters and world building. 👌🏻 Yessss enjoy your Hobb journey, seeing you enjoy her books make me warm and fuzzy!
Find books that you think you will love. Stay active in reading if you have to put reminders around your room. Put your bookshelf in your room and read everyday. Set an alarm if you have to.
OMG! I started watching your video, than told myself to go read one of the e-books I downloaded on my kindle on the 26th of August 2019. The book is "The Eye of the World". Came back to video because I can't read at the moment any more and you are mentioning The Eye of the World. Keep up the amazing work you are doing! You are great!
I love that feeling when you just know it’s going to be 5 stars and these all sound fantastic😍😍 I’m predicting that The Diviners and The Gilded Wolves will be stars for me- everything I’ve heard about them sounds like everything I’ll love!💜💚
2:51 minor correction 14 in the series with 1 prequel and yes, BS wrote/compiled 12, 13, 14 with help from the late RJ's wife/editor and his notes and some passages fully written before death and RJ wrote 1-11 and the prequel (which was published between 10 and 11 (and when I read it and it was the perfect time to b/c you don't want to end on the prequel if you can avoid it imo)). Do recommend the series even though I am many years in to my first time through and just now starting 12 but it is so worth it so far :) Plus it is completed so you don't have to wait at all between or wonder if it will be finished :) Happy Reading :D
The Space Between Worlds and Jade City are amazeballs. You are absolutely going to love them. The third Locke Lamora book was my least favourite but still good.
I’m also SO pumped for Space Between Worlds and Jade City :D As for WoT, I hope you like it! I...did not 😅 Some of the fandom is really condescending and toxic, unfortunately, but you always cultivate such a lovely community, so fingers crossed you like and have nothing but positive experiences :D
The way you described Robin Hobb's books are exactly how Christine Feehan writes her books. They are amazing, if paranormal romance or romantic suspense is something you are interested in then I highly suggest all of her series. She has 6 or 7 series total, five still ongoing.
I still need to read Middle Game as well! I picked it up, I think it will be one I love as well but I just haven't made it there yet! I just finished Space Between Worlds and really loved it! I think you will enjoy it for sure
Hey Regan, since you love historical novels, you should try Pachinko by Min jin Lee. It’s set around second sino japanese war like the book Poppy War and it’s very fascinating and a good book to learn more about Korean history!!
"fantasy series I have been putting off in my entire life" < WoT. Same, haha, my oldest tenants in my TBR, been there for 17 years. :D They are just so overwhelming to start with, it's a commitment!! I also just got the books recently to finally read them.
I started the wheel of time series this year. I'm only about a 3rd of the way through book 2, I'm taking notes so I can remember things between the books because its gonna take awhile.
Totally with you on Robin Hobb, just finished the farseer trilogy and now can not wait to get into the entire Realm of the Elderlings. Also Wheel of time is my all time favorite fantasy series, it look me years to get into any other series after reading WOT, nothing compared.
Regan, I saw that you haven't read any of the First Law / Joe Abercrombie books and I have never actually heard you mentioning them though Joe Abercrombie is pretty popular on booktube, just wanted to ask any particular reason for that? They're grimdark fantasy and very character driven, I feel like you would really enjoy them. I only finally read them this summer and flew through the first 6 books in a matter of a few weeks. I'm curious what would be your take on them.
I’m 100 pages into Ship of Magic and it is very promising! Already, the expansion upon the world is so great and I think I’m going to love these characters by the end.
Hi Reagan!! I was wondering if you can give some suggestions on how i can overcome my reading slump. I have not been reading as much as i used to (before i started working).
Some great picks there. Only one I gave 5 stars to was Republic of Thieves. It's my favorite of the three. Of the others I've read (Magic Ship, Eye of the World, Jade City) I gave 4 stars. I'm currently reading Jade War right now
I was always so intimidated by WoT, watching all the UA-cam videos and trying to choose between the different editions (& the number of books:) made me feel like that I think. And there was like nothing to be “afraid of” haha I loved the first book and the second too! For me they were easy to read and a lot of times so funny too! (it was like Archie and Jughead and Reggie would go on an adventure:D)
Have you read Wicked Saints and Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan? It has a lot of the things you described liking such as gray morality, dark gothic themes, Gods, villains, etc. I loved them! Soooo much atmosphere. 💖
She read Wicked Saints last year and it ended up being a disappointing read for her. I loved Wicked Saints and Ruthless Gods though, and am very excited for Blessed Monsters next year.
im currently reading the shadow rising (fourth book in the wot series) and honestly the eye of the world has been my least favorite so far, it’s still a very good book, but keep in mind that if you’re not a huge fan of the first, it gets a lot better!!
Yep, you're going to give Ship of Magic five stars. And while the Liveship Traders has a great, and very broad cast, I'm going to give you two words to remember when you assign those stars: Althea. Vestrit. Enjoy!
If I can make myself read it, I have a feeling that The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd will be a five star read. And maybe Seasons of the Storm by Elle Cosimano.
Hi, Regan! I recently saw a book called The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington and I honestly thought of you because you might love it that I even sent you a DM on Instagram. I think you didn't see it, so anyway, I hope you see this so you can check it out!! ♡♡♡
Tbf, it's a pseudonym, and an androgynous one at that. Unfortunately Fantasy was a Male dominated genre during the 90's, so probably was done for marketing reasons. She has also published under Megan Lindholm during the late 80's and didn't have as much success as under the Hobb name.
*Watching you talk so passionately about books makes it very hard to keep my book buying ban.*

I am SO excited for you to read the Wheel of Time series!! it isn’t perfect and some of the books are slow, but the series as a whole is so lovely.
I almost picked the first book up the other day!! I'm glad to hear its good. I will have to go back to get it ahah
I'm just getting into books (except for non-fiction) and I'm so excited. Personally I really wanna read Gideon and the Upon the burning throne but I'm afraid they might feel too long. Loved the video, have a great day.

Omg read the house in the cerulean sea based on your recommendation and I loved it so so much!!! Chauncey! 😍

The Diviners series is in my top3 I think! The atmosphere and the characters in those books are amazing😍

I started WOT book 1 this week... I'm loving it so far. It's actually 14 books and a prequel haha, so definitely a saga. I think you'll like it!
Liveship Traders trilogy is fantasy at its absolute finest.
So good!
The way you described Robin Hobb's books are exactly how Christine Feehan writes her books. They are amazing, if paranormal romance or romantic suspense is something you are interested in then I highly suggest all of her series. She has 6 or 7 series total, five still ongoing.

UK book covers

Got the notification and I have never clicked so quickly in my life.
this makes me so anxious. whenever i think i'm going to five star a book, i often hate them. 😔

@@samdailey4854 Me too! 😁
Middle Game, Jade City and Gideon the Ninth are all HIGH on my list, I’m pretty sure I’m going to love them all and can’t wait to get round to them!🖤
I feel like Twelve Kings by Bradley Beaulieu would really be up your alley. I've just finished the 2nd book and loved the depth of the world.
Ooo middlegame is on my list too!!
I bought Upon a Burning Throne a few weeks ago based on Starlah's rave review.
Definitely want to read Middlegame! Everyone seems to have read it and I feel like I'm missing out! Haha
Yaaas tWoT is SUCH A CLASSIC. One of my favorite series ever!
Great book collection you’ve got!!
Upon a burning throne is awesome!! Tw suicide though. Brief scene but clear.
im currently reading the shadow rising (fourth book in the wot series) and honestly the eye of the world has been my least favorite so far, it’s still a very good book, but keep in mind that if you’re not a huge fan of the first, it gets a lot better!!
Yesssss! Liveship Trilogy!! 💜💜💜
I think you will love the Arcane Ascension Series by Andrew Rowe. Highly recommended, one of my favorite fantasy books/series.
I want to be a wheeler too someday hahaha! From the books I have, I think I'm gonna love Chain of Gold and Crier's War.
Middle game is a brother/sister, not two brothers
EVEN BETTER
several different brothers and sisters :-)
SO GOOD.
i feel you with middlegame!
I had to dnf Gideon the Ninth, at first I really liked it because it was so different. But at some point I couldn’t push myself to read further 😅
Read wheel of time series!!! I'm currently reading the 5th one
I'm on Book 4 right now.
