Cool, but what was the colored powder.
It’s release powder. It’s for the stamp not to stick to the concrete. It’s a thin layer of powder that doesn’t stick to the concrete either. But once it’s on the concrete it’s not supposed to be troweled in because it will stain the concrete.
It's for coating your lungs so you can breathe better as you get older
Why you useing a float over the matts?? For even hand tamping? Never seen it done like that. But only been stamping for 4 years

Curiosity- would it have been beneficial to add the dye powder to the concrete before mixing? Putting it on top might make it wear faster with weather and foot traffic. Regardless, it looks great!
You need the powder on top to fill in the nooks and crannies of the stamp so it looks more like an actual stone walkway
It's better if you have the concrete died in the truck before it arrives, then get a darker shade of powder to stamp with so it adds a contrast

Casting colour is a thing of the past. Release spray tint is superior. Get with the time mr day.

Pavers around here always move by the following year, and have lots of ants.

I don't tamp either. I'm a fat boy, got to wait a little bit longer but it still turns out just as good. Nice work.

Depending the pattern, my flagstone has a certain pattern

We cut expansion joints about 5 hours after the slab is done.
Fucked up on the FIRST stamp....shoulda put the smaller one on the right... then the joints would be broken!

Ok captain here. Just so you all know don’t do it this way. At the beginning if you can’t walk on it to tamp it. Your color will not impregnate the same. Nope. You can see I. The beginning it was to wet to get on and they were lightly putting on the stamps as they went on they were standing on them. Just be patient what for it to buck up and give it a good tamp so your color will be the same. If you do it this way use bubble gum release aka liquid then no worries. Yep.
Looks great finding someone to do that in my area is almost impossible.
Then do it yourself.

Forget the tamper that day. I mean hard up use the mags but omg.. a Cumberlong is better more control like a tamper. If your walking on it you should be tamping it..

Powder release is the only downfall to stamp work. Gets on everything!

Looks great, until the powered pigment that was dusted on the surface instead of in the wet mixture wears off right down the middle in about 2 years. Now you have an ugly mess.
Never use surface dust pigments to color concrete. ALWAYS add the pigment to the concrete as you're mixing it. That way all of the concrete is colored and you will never have a wear path right down the middle.
Pretty sure they add it as an accent not the main color.
Why would you want to make an ugly stamp? I don't get why people want to fake stuff like this, just lay stones if you want that.
