How to Avoid Muddy Watercoloring 1. 1:07 Don't sketch harshly on your paper (avoid erasing) 2. 3:32 Limit your colors; use more water 3. 7:38 Let first layer dry. 4. 12:00. Don't overwork. Choose colors to emphasize wisely. 5. 17:02 Be happy with whatever level you are on and learn from it. Thanks Nitin
Really a great lesson. The two color mix is going to help me get better results - it is exactly one of the things I am doing wrong. Too many colors, too much over working with the paint. I need to learn also when to stop. Thank you!
Mr. Singh...As I've commented before, You are a real teacher! You care that people Learn! It shows as the audience watch what you do! You TEACH, with the intent of explaining to the learner, which should be the purpose! Emphatically, I appreciate your guidance because w/c is difficult enough without some of those who really don't take time...if their intention is to teach which results in confusion. I personally thank and appreciate you more than words can say! May God continue to bless you! Jimi
Try turning on the captions if you have trouble hearing. It will help, but keep in mind that it picks up the accent so that all the words may not be correct. I listened to this on my TV by using Chromecast and turned up the volume on my TV, which allowed my to hear it very well. Thank you for your lessons. I enjoy them so much! I'm trying to learn simplicity. You are very much a master at that!
Really enjoy your artwork and free and expressive style. Your encouragement, insights, tips and sincerity in the videos are very helpful as well! I do have a suggestion, though. If you can, please increase the volume of your "voice" when you record (I think you need to move your microphone closer to your mouth or increase the recording volume a bit). Your voice volume on your videos is, for me at least, very low, while the music overlays are at an adequate volume. Sadly, this affects my ability to understand what you are saying even when I have my volume at maximum on my speakers, my system, and UA-cam. Thanks again Nitin for your efforts! Most appreciated!
You are so, so encouraging, "Whatever you achieved so far, just be happy with that." :-) I do get discouraged but those few words perked me back up again, and I thank you for that! You are an excellent teacher and your explanations are so clear. Thanks, friend. I shall press on!
Thank you so much for your kind word Dee, i don't know if i am good teacher, i am just sharing what i know and whatever helped me. My best wishes for your next painting, keep going and enjoy them.
I just can't even describe how useful and beautiful your work is! You give me so much confidence so now I'm looking at my paintings and see the difference between yours technic and mine. So thank you for everything you're doing. Btw you taught me one precious thing - you should have fun with water colour! Nitin you are so right!! Lots of love!
You are an amazing teacher. I like the harmony of using only two colors, but I like the "bad" painting example on the left, as well. Even when you try to paint a bad painting, you are good. Everything you do is good. I will go try your two-color painting technique. I think you have just given me the secret to happy, harmonious watercolor paintings. Thank you.
Even the left side art( which looks odd in value scale) is looking glaring for me instead of muddy as said. Artist's hand!! Good suggestions. Thanks a lot.
Love it. "Please, please and please...don't overwork!" Thank you for this insightful lesson, Mr. Singh. It's easy to get caught in that trap of painting too tightly, and too realistically. Your work is so loose and expressive. Much appreciate you taking the time to post this lesson.
Thank you very much, Sir. This is a very valuable lesson. I tend to work directly without waiting for the paint to dry, and you are right: It creates all those muddy colors.
Lovely!! And so helpful as I’m just starting out with my muddy painting. I’m so glad I listened to the very end, because I quite like the DONT DO THIS side as well😅(unlike me even when you try to mess up you make something beautiful!), though my goal is to paint lightly and freely. Thank you.
Nitin THANK YOU for the video! So helpful and informative as I continue to practice and grow as a painter. Thank you also for mentioning "losing the motivation" factor. I feel it way too often when I brush on that horrible, mucky overworked color and then want to throw my painting away. Some of us, especially me need to learn to just say NO MORE! Like eating sugar, I just have a hard time saying no more. 😳
Hi Nitin, I'm glad that I found your videos. Your way of explaining makes it easier for beginners to understand the medium better. My heart felt gratitude to you 😊
You are a great teacher first of all . The way you have explained about problems , I could relate it to me . It seemed i am telling to me not to do this . I think realizing by won self is the greatest teaching . Thank you sir.
Wonderful video. I really appreciate your kind and gentle teaching style. It's not intimidating and it is relaxing to listen to your knowledge. Watercolor can be overwhelming at first!
Dear Sir...truly we are blessed to have you on youtube..each lesson of urs is priceless..you are absolutely wonderful teacher. So so so much to learn frm u. My best wishes..
Its a pleasure listening to your explanations. Your voice is quite 'gentle'. I just turn the volume to max and only get a fright when the youtube adverts kick in. As soon as I'm able i'll support you on patron.
My biggest problem is knowing which colors to,use and or mix, and where to place them. I gave up oilpainting because of color confusion. I think I have a mind block for color or soemthing. (Also for tonal ranges, but not as bad as for co,or). Gonna try a canal painting, simple, two colors only, burnt sienna and cobalt and see how ti comes out. I just struggle with too many misplaced colors in paintings. The eye then tends to want to ping pong all over the painting in a kinda frantic manner. I bought rebelle 5 pro on-sale and can try different scenes with different co,or combos too, which will be good for practice as it has the undo button if something doesn't look right, but ultimately, wanna get to physical painting with confidence more.
Learnt a lot from you. Audio can be improved though, I have a 5 months old baby with me so I see your videos from other room at a very low volume, and cannot hear properly. Cannot risk increasing the volume as the advertisement pop up with very high volume. Great learning from you 😊
Nitin - I am blown away! I really appreciate you sharing your considerable skill with us. I have learnt so much from your demonstrations . I feel my work had reached a plateau and having discovered you and observed your methods, I feel ready to tackle the next mountain! Thank you so much. Do you do painting seminars/classes? Where can I find out more details. Have paint brush - will travel! Chris
Hi Chris, I am glad you loved my effort. Going forward i have many plan for watercolor learners, right from online mentorship to workshop and many many more :)
Oh so you're using gouache? That makes more sense. I was wondering why I couldn't see much of your pencil work underneath sometimes. I will persist with my watercolour set but I might mix some gouache with it some day as well. :) your paintings are dreamy. Thank you!
Sir, however hard you tried you could not create "mud"! You can take tuitions from me for that LOL! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful videos, really helpful.
Hi Nitin. It's always great to watch your videos. I always find you provide valuable lessons. However, I was just wondering if you could either place your mike closer or speak slightly louder because I always find it a challenge to hear your instructions. I think if you speak louder, your audience will grow even faster. Thanks so much!!!

I like your style of painting water color and it's great for landscapes. I usually paint very tight and I have observed that it doesn't works in landscapes. I'm trying to learn landscapes. I'm confused with your second point "not to use more than two colors". If I want to paint trees and bushes then I shouldn't be putting yellow, green, blue, brown on the first wash?
hi ur work is great! i just noticed that theres a lot of granulation in ur work, i believe its the type of colors and maybe brand used, would appreciate if u can share these with us ❤🙏🏻🙂
Love, love, love your technique. wish i could hear better what you are saying. after raising the volume to full there still are some things you say that are in such low voice they are hard to make out and I,m sure they are important advice you are giving me.
thank you Nitin for another great vídeo. I bought the Chinese brush and is really fun to paint with. I couldn't buy it from Amazon.in because of shipment restrictions to Portugal i believe. I would like to try the camel watercolor set but i have the same problem. do you think you can help me overcome this problem? thank you
Is there any way that you can make your sound louder? I have mine turned all the way up but I still am having troubling hearing. I am enjoying this lesson.
what kind of painting style is this please ??? ... I want to learn this style bcoz I think this suit me .. please upload more tutorial videos ..thank you

Thank you Nitin. I have such difficulty with overworking and using too many colors. This has been so helpful for me.
Volume issue aside your red light green light teaching method is excellent.
Thank you.
Thank you very much, Sir. This is a very valuable lesson. I tend to work directly without waiting for the paint to dry, and you are right: It creates all those muddy colors.
Thank you! I drew my first painting by virtue of that tutorial!
beautifully done! and we'll explained.
such a lovely combination Burnt sienna and Cobalt blue!
Thank you Gary.
Thank you so much! This is what’s lacking in most classes then I wonder why my stuff isn’t good.
U restored my passion to paint…you are a prodigy
Great do's and don't tips. The best tip was at the end to not get discouraged and like the art you create as you are learning. Keep the passion!!!!
Thanks Lance.
Bravo ! C'est un très bon exercice d'avoir comparé la mauvaise technique et la bonne ! Merci pour vos tutos !
Merci beaucoup Michelle.
