For people wondering what happened to the people on Argent Moon, the books Halo Last Light and Halo Retribution go into the bioweapon backstory far more. A Forerunner AI named Intrepid Eye, recovered by Blue Team (minus the Chief) from a Forerunner facility on Gao (which they then nuked) decided to make humanity ready for the Mantle with all sorts of insane plans. She was actually kept on Argent Moon so hopefully Intrepid Eye died when the station went up. Her original complicated plot was thwarted by Blue Team and another group of Spartans called the Ferrets, actually culminating in a battle on Meridian. However, ONI was left unaware of the true culprit and it was instead blamed on one of Intrepid Eye's agents, an ONI chief science officer killed in the battle. Though Blue Team and the Ferrets dealt a massive blow to Intrepid Eye's plot, she simply moved it to Argent Moon and started again from scratch. And this is what came of that.
