    I have a military that I adopted back in 2019, and Jamie actually help put me on the right path to his training, and he is now a absolute sweetheart (when in a good mood). I was able to read that nip coming militaries have very low emotional tolerance windows and as soon as I saw the "mili glare" in her eyes I was yelling at Dave to pull away! I'm glad she didn't get you too bad they don't mean it because I adopted one that latches on.
    Edit ps: I will be teaching my military the fluffiest of nos now because that was way too cute

    Such a good point about neural absorption rate. We really do need to chew and swallow bites, no matter how well they cut the steak for us. Don’t give up, our 27y/o CAG is finally happier and healthier than ever, and even healing from decades of plucking. We’re living our best life, thanks to the seasonal feeding system and permission based training, as taught by Birdtricks. Oh, and now that she has two whole wings, Captain Morgan, the Spiced Birby, has started very (very) short indoor flights. ❤️‍🩹🐦

    Awesome vid, my lorikeet will nip when I am hesitant or doing something to him without clear intentions, he calms right down when I really centre myself and do things confidently and knowingly.. when I’m unsure he’s unsure :) they can sense your vibe. I think they are telepathic on some level.

    • @mimthyss
      @mimthyss 2 роки тому

      Lol I don't think they're telepathic, but they are one way or another very in tune with the energy and body language of people. They know when somebody isn't confident about what they're doing for sure.. but I think it's more of the fact that our actions show that, and make them unsure too, because they don't know how to react to it lol

    An alexandrine i’m working with is very similar when it comes to energy. If you ask her if she wants to step up, and she doesn’t comply within 5 seconds, then she’s not going to do it. And if you leave your hand there, or move it closer, she will give you a warning bite.

    She is a Great Green Macaw, these ones are slightly bigger than the Military Macaws, the skin on their faces is mostly pinkish, I have one myself, they are way smarter then the rest, they are very picky on their habitat, when you see Great Green Macaws in nature, that speaks very good of that particular part of the forest , they only live in the best ecosystems, I would love to see and learn from you guys how to train this beautiful species, I love to watch your videos !

    I hope I wasn’t the only one who went on this video thinking this bird was some type of veteran of a military program, like how they use dogs.
    I am now informed 🙃
    In my defense an African gray parrot served on a British destroyer back when!
    Apparently he was rude to a commanding officer visiting the ship and was demoted from his actual crewmen rank, to abled body parrot!
    And no, I did not just make that up!
    I guess drones make up for any use of such animals and morally that’s great. Though compared to dogs, are not parrots like macaws and African gray is the most capable of consenting to service of their country?

    Viewing the video, the bite was predictable because her body language (raised head feathers and backing away) indicated that she was uncomfortable and didn't want to step up, however, Dave continued to move his hand toward her in spite of the bird's obvious discomfort.

    I owned a cockatiel who seemed to get nightmares when it was dark. Never had that with other parrots or parrot like birds.
    It happened once in a couple of days, totally unanounced he started flying (more like falling) through his cage, making hissing sounds and was clearly in a panicked state. The only thing that helped was putting on light and it took several minutes for him to snap out of it. If i tried to interact with him ( i once opened the cage at that moment) he attacked me.
    Has anybody heard of this before?

    • @matio6487
      @matio6487 3 роки тому

    I'm curious what the reasoning is for clicking and NOT rewarding? In dog training, the golden rule is that every single click gets a reward, even if it's an accidental click, because that consistent 1:1 click to reward ratio is what keeps the value for the clicker so high.
