Thanks for your story. My son is graduating boot camp at cape may in 6 days. I haven’t heard all of his stories yet, but he said it’s the hardest thing he has ever done.

I just found your videos. I watched the Penbryn Lake video. Then discovered you are in or retiring from USCG. I served back in 80's and 90's. Enlisted to Officer. I did a tour on 378 Jarvis as DCA. My son is now in serving in the CG and a YN2 at Cape May. I had a great time serving and have good friends both enlisted and officer ranks. Good Luck on your retirement! I look forward to checking out the rest of your videos. Fair Winds and Following Seas!

Damn, I was over it after 8 years!!! But I was always at a station. We both went in the same year 2003 I went in February. Ya, they called me little Arnold cuz I was a big body builder then. This idiot right when we got our company commanders was talking to me and they called me and him over there. Made us hold a one arm push up for like 15 minutes. I made it he didn't. Then laroach my commander says it sucks when someone else gets u in trouble. They respected me after that. I had PO Emrick and PO Laroach and my company commanders, and they called Emrick little Satan. He was nuts. I went in the dead winter, and he would walk around in a short leave shirt when we had jackets. Dude wasn't tall but he was one tough as dude.

I really enjoyed listening and watching your video! I'm going to A school for Damage Control, I'd really love to hear any input you have about a DC, if you knew anyone or meant any of them, I'd like to hear what it'll be like. Thanks for your service!

    • @Bassandbrewsfishingpodcast

Some of the coolest people I’d meet in the CG were DCs. It’s a tough job though. You will be in the trenches so to speak while on a cutter. Upside is you’ll learn tons of skills that translate outside the CG. Good luck at school and stay safe.
