Why are they talking about Fight Club?
Edward was the only one high and laughing by himself
Good one :p
I think people missed this comment like the Venice grannies missed the greatness of the film
Ayoooo!
That's why everybody was looking at him
LOL
Shared a joint and got the giggles in a crowded silent room, there's no way to stop the giggles
I love that point when you're not supposed to laugh but that's actually making you laugh harder and it becomes like a loop
@@HittokiriBattousai17 had this happen to me and my mom at christmas in the church. Just couldt stop it and everyone was just staring 😂
@@tobisheesh2164 that’s good parenting right there
@@tobisheesh2164 you got stoned with your mum& went to a church….why?
@@HittokiriBattousai17 Yes!! And sometimes it can be the most serious situation that we are not supposed to laugh at all but the "paused silence" after someone talks about something very serious, and than there comes the giggles... Not cuz is funny.. cuz is a release of cannabis 😂
Edward Norton has spoken on this topic too where he and Brad are sitting giggling in the back, knowing that everyone at the screening hates the movie, and they talk about how it’s the best movie they’ll ever be in
They may be correct.
@@muiresuilgorm3452 not for pitt he’s done loads of great films
@@obscure.reference yet in my opinion it’s his best film, which says a lot about the sheer volume and quality of the rest of his work I think, but hey, Fight Club ranks in my top 3, maybe even best film, I guess I’m biased
It's the best movie. I went to see as much as I could in the movies. It was there for a year, going from the biggest theater to the smallest. And I was in each one multiple times. Once I saw it twice back to back because I missed it so much as the credits were rolling. And people always laughed. I dunno wtf was wrong with the people in Venice 😄
@@mary-janereallynotsarah684 yeah I just saw it a year ago since ten years (20 yo at that point), and have watched it three times since, since I was just baffled by how good it actually is. Plus Brad Pitt in arguably the best physical shape ever (coming from a straight guy). The funny part about it, the scene where they ask on the bus about the Armani advertisement, “is this how a man is supposed to look like?”, while Brad Pitt literally looks like that 😂
I am Jack's total lack of surprise
I am Jacks lungs and enjoyed that night.
Complete lack of surprise
Perfect comment?
I think so.
All must submit before the king of Mars
Whos jack
"We didn't make it for you" could have been the alternate name for Fight Club
Bit too ambiguous a title but funny lol
Nope
%100 LMAO
That was a classy analogy
It's also a sentence that can be applied to every grown ups hating on current kid and young adult movies.
fun fact
‘grade school’ line was actually a replacement line for
‘I wanna have your abortion’
Both good lines
Apparently, Helena Bonham Carter didn't initially understand the "Grade school" joke because she's English, and that's not a term used over there, so she had to ask after one of the takes made the crew laugh.
@@danielvalles9554 I just pictured it in my head of her asking in between scenes like "what the fuck does this mean?!!" 😂
That is apparently a 'thing'.
Yes, I am an Irish National and also unfamilar with the American School System. I shall investigate the implied ages elsewhere.
The story goes that Marla's original line was "I want to have your abortion". Thr studio was horrified at it and demanded that Fincher replace it. He resisted, and said I'll only rewrite it if you guarantee me we can keep whatever the replacement is.
Fair play to him.
On the audio commentary they talk about how they felt it made her too vulnerable and victim-like.
@@TequilaToothpick Yeah it was honestly a worse line than what replaced it
The grade school line is better imo
If you did not laugh at that line or Brian Paulson (meat loaf) being told his tits are too big tubby you are a neutral tool in need of a good cry.
The first rule of Fight Club is to get high before you watch Fight Club
Literally my buddy's exact words while handing me the bong before my first time watching
I need to this
I did it once after a 3 month break from smoking weed. Oh boy... That was an incredible experience
@@destroyerofworlds2239 sounds like ur already high ahaha “i need to this”
ill smoke to that!
Suddenly Edward, while laughing histerically, turns to Brad and realizes he never came for the screening.. wwwwwuuuu WWuuuuuuu
Hahahahaha
I actually laughed aloud at this, and I'm not even high yet.
This is gold
Very good. I applaud you.
You win this comment section, sir.
I just imagine Brad Pitt laughing at his own movie the way he laughs when Lou is beating the shit out of him
Yelling “YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE I’VE BEEN, LOU!” in a crowded theater.
Edward Norton and Brad Pitt smoking a joint before they're permire? Fucking golden ✨
What I wouldve given to be there with them for that ride.
@@TooMuchToCareAbout2 right! Two cool ass guys starting off the premire the right way dude
@@TooMuchToCareAbout2 i came here to say “i would give my left nut to smoke weed with those two before watching that with them.” Sincere as hell….
“We didn’t make it for you” Love that.
"we didn't make it for you."
Eddie Norton sure looks different
My confusion has been clarified now
Going from google, this isn’t him, he still looks the same only Grey hair now.
Guys, this is the director of the movie…
Ya...what happened... gained weight for sure
@@prod.hxrford3896 Don’t make me explain...
It’s one of the best movies of all time!
She looked at Fincher and all of her worst fears were confirmed.
We thought it would be a good idea...and it was!
This film has made a very positive long term impact on my life and was a fucking blast when i first saw it
A David Fincher Rocky horror would be brill...
🎬 “We didn’t make it for you”, INDEED! 🍾🥂😂🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Had a similar experience. Me and my sister went to see Inglorious Basterds and we were howling with laughter, others around us just didn't, just reacted normally, but we just didn't care. We didn't have a smoke before that one i think though.
I love this story xD
We didn't make it for you
I saw this in theaters with like minded folks and there was a lot of laughter. My mother, who accompanied us, said it made her feel depressed.
Can see why. The theme of the movie is existential dread. The characters are basically mentally sick people, that have become so due to a superficial and sick world. Personally I find the movie both funny and depressing.
@@HappyCatholicDane I agree with you. The first couple of watches it was so funny to me. Then I saw it last year and my heart was exploding. I felt very anxious and sick.
In case you haven't seen it: Inside Llewyn Davis is another one that came to mind...
The first time I watched it I was depressed as fuck. By the second time... A couple of years later, I was laughing my ass off with the same things I felt sad first.
It's like a comedy/drama bending... Oh, I love that combination.
@@THE.N1KO Exactly 👍
@@THE.N1KO
‘Withnail & I’ fits into that category too. Hilarious one liners, funny but tragic and sad.
@@Letts_prey thanks, I'll watch it.
If I could travel back in time, to experience that moment, I’d do it. 😂👏🏼
oh to be at the venice film festival premiere of fight club, should be filled with actual cinephiles instead of journalists and elites
So suppose that was the problem it was filled with stuffy old journalists and elitists.
I woulda been cry-laughing way louder than those 2, in a huge room full of highly offended elderly people. For sure.
Ee÷÷÷ee÷ê+
That would some of the most pretentious obnoxious people imaginable
@BradPitt-pb4zh yeah right man. Keep up the good work.
One of best movies ever made.
Ed Norton's performance as David Fincher at the end of this clip is spot on.
I laughed my ass off when I first saw the movie as well. Yes I was also baked
These small stories are just beautiful. IDGAF about inspiration, gimme the small details
HIS NAME WAS ROBERT PAULSON!
He had Lady Mammaries
Fincher quoting RHPS is the funniest shit ever "we didn't make it for YOU"
oh that's david fincher is it? i thought ed norton looked weird
In a way that’s a wholesome reminder that they are just two buddies and get up to normal stuff like the rest of us
“We had a great experience” that’s all that matters😂
And thats how you make a CLASSIC!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!
Im so glad they enjoyed it and all the boring people in the room hated it, too bad for them. Fight Club is the best movie ever made.
I'm glad they had a hard time with the premiere. The trailers for this movie made me not want to see Fight Club. Because nobody talks about Fight Club. It seemed so stupid to me. Then I rented it and loved it.
Wonder what Brad and Margot did before Babylon premiered
It’s like Patton Oswalt’s bit about the Angry Comedian, being the only one laughing makes it funnier
Absolutely fantastic movie and well directed for being based off a novel which I have read four times!!!
Wow....the premiere fits the movie perfect lol
A pleasure to see two quality, intelligent actors that don't use the word "like" six times in each sentence!!!
dude, the other guy is the legendary director David Fincher
So that's, like, the bar now?
@@aretwodeetoo1181 It's like literally the bar like..
just rewatched fight club last night... what a great movie... last time i saw it i was probly a teen... rewatching it later u really understand it a lot more...movie hadnt fucked like that since grade school 😂
You can tell they’re both Tyler Durden and The Narrator, enjoying themselves and getting high watching their effect on people watching their movie
Fight club taught 3 generations on how to live. The fact that in 1999 majority of its audience were senior citizens and now it speaks for the younger generation shows how great this movie was at speaking for people.
This clup just gave me the biggest laugh...can't believe that you 2 decided to smoke a joint before the screening...thanks very much...
WE DIDN'T MAKE IT FOR YOU!
Anyone else notice the painting of edward nortons face on brad pitts body in the glass onion movie?
I really hope brad and edward do another movie together
Ironically that is completely inline with the way the characters in the movie would behave, their own little rebellion, their own little mayhem.
I am Jack's uncontrollable high.
Once the stoned giggles start… you can no longer control them! 😂 What an epic movie and I would have loved to have been at that premiere.
That movie was one of the best one of my favorites
David Fincher’s last line is perfect without the Rocky Horror reference but… with it in there makes it 197 times funnier. Explains some of his humor very well in retrospect to know he’s a fan.
That's an awesome story
You don’t have nearly as many ads as other creators. Get your share of the pie Scott, for the amount of effort you put in these you deserve it and i don’t mind watching ads to support this channel
that line had me rollin the first time i watched it, i wasn’t even high
Chuck Palahniuk wrote the book. He was in a writing club years before where writers would read their writing to the club. Several people talked about him, and they had a vote when he was not there. They voted to kick him out because of the messed up stuff he wrote.
"Smoke a joint before" love it😂
Lol his joke at the end killed me
Loved this film when it came out, I could never understand why critics didn't enjoy it.
And the rest is history.
I watched it for the first time last night. Absolutely enjoyed it! I wasn't offended by it. There were no misunderstanding. I let the film take me on a journey and I didn't snap out of it until it was over.
I'm not a critic. I'm not cinephile. I'm just a guy who loves watching movies. And I this is definitely one of the best movies I've watched in a long time!
I live in a dry town. Nearest town still doesn't have liquor on Sundays and there was no wine in grocery stores where I grew up.
So anyway, back then finding a movie theater that served beer felt like I was in a different country. That's where I saw Fight Club for the first time. It felt like the movie was made specifically for me and I forgot I wasn't alone in the theater. This clip made it even more special to me based on what they said, especially Fincher saying it wasn't made for the others. I've ALWAYS felt that way. This movie wasn't meant to be watched by anyone even approaching "normal".
To all the forever 30 year old boys out there:
May you space monkeys never stop tonguing that cut on the roof of your mouths.
If I ever have a tumor I will call it Marla.
I think its very funny that he mentions RHPS, because on the 40th anniversary edition disc, one of the previews is for Fight Club
It's weird that it flopped, I thought it was just about the best most unique movie I had ever seen!
Nah watchin fight club for the first time high does hit so different 😂😂
As a soldier, I went with black friend to see Django unchained in a theater with ALL black people (I'm white) we laughed so hard In dead silence
What kind of black people were those? Every black person I know laughed their ass off watching Django. Myself included.
I’d pay $100 a ticket to hear BRAD’s epic & infectious laugh during the movie😂😂🎉
I still can’t figure out how this movie got bad reviews. Their marketing was awful , the way they sold it. I remember movie posters with a bar of soap that said fight club and was like WTF , Im not seeing that!! But once I saw it on video I was blown TF away. It’s still one of my favorite movies of all time
Stravinsky's Rite of Spring got about the same reception at its premier. And probably even worse, because many walked out. Not saying Fight Club is on a par with RoS, but it's a pretty damned good movie which will probably endure as a classic for many years to come and was largely misunderstood for quite some time after it was released.
How does Brad Pitt look so 90's here and Tyler Durdan so timeless?
Palahniuk, Fincher, Pitt, the wardrobe, etc. were just facilitators of the expression of something deeper from our collective unconscious with this character. At least for men.
David Fincher looks so young in this interview
The film is now a classic of cinema
David Fincher is the American Ridley Scott. There should be more movies like this from him.
Zodiac. Props, David!
Even brad and ed got high before watching fight club
Lol. Golden
lmao that last bit from Fincher
Fight Club: kick ass movie, extremely original, unbelievable acting. But the soundtrack? I don't know. Where is my mind???
“A particularly offensive joke” 😂 Half the movie is a particularly offensive joke, although one of the the best movies ever written.
Let that be a lesson. Journalists and critics are always out of touch with reality dinosaurs that should be treated as such.
I always love Brad and Edward for the greatest movie ❤💯✨️👏
"We didn't make it for you" Classic!
I just finished fight club and can't stop watching the ending it's such a masterpiece
David is in top 10 best directors of all time ! His films are always special ! A true visionary

"We didn't make it for you"
Chef's kiss
Amazing acting. Amazing directing. Amazing cinematography. Amazing movie.
One of the craziest/best movies ever for my generation and I loved it. Two heavyweight actors trading punches and it was marvelous
What was wrong with that crowd? I howled with laughter as well over the "since grade school" comment, still find it hilarious every time I watch it. And I don't need to be high (though it helps).
73yr olds still up at midnight? lol
Americans are just lazy bro
Greatest movie of all time
I LOVE that RHPS reference! What an amazing film. I miss Tim Curry…
WE DIDN'T MAKE IT FOR YOU 🤣🤣
That was a good idea 😂😂😂😂
Wrong audiences are great. I knew someone who took their kids to Team America thinking it was a kids movie because it had puppets.

Reminds me when I saw Rainman and I busted out laughing when Dustin Hoffman freaks out about not flying on Qantas airlines....my friend and I were the only ones in a packed theater that laughed 😆
Fight Club is one of the greatest movies of all time. Awesome for Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.
"House full of condiments and no food, how embarrassing" -Tyler Durden.
Love Finch. He yelled once about shutting a radio off as I was already struggling too beforehand. He wasn't "supposed" to be there for another few minutes and I respected him so much I didn't take it personally at all, and right after he looked like he felt like an asshole and nodded to me 🤣
