Jim, thank you so much for creating this beautiful bowl for the Canadian Occupation Therapy Foundation. The proceeds of the Auction bowl will go directly to fund Occupational Therapy and Science Research. It’s been a few years now that you have been doing this for us. We rely on people like you and it’s truly appreciated. Thank you my friend.
What a gorgeous bowl!! Your color blending technique is yielding you great results. And, the wood is so full of character and really gives the bowl such depth and interest!! Another winner!! Also, I'm crossing my fingers for another mid-week video treat to see what you make of the core. Can't wait!!!
LOVE the eyeball on the bottom! The island is cool! I appreciate ghosted resin close to the islands because it looks like the shallows. The figuring in that wood is stunning! The green and yellow is a great background for the burl archipelago
Every one of your videos I have watched, I watch in its entirety. I enjoy watching the pieces go from a lump of wood to a piece of functional, eye-catching art. Best part is that it's done by a local boy. Heck yeah.
wow, the green and gold combined are so good together it almost looks like the bowl is glowing neon, and the pearlescent effect is particularly strong on this one. you get these silvery wisps in places when it catches the light just right and adds a whole new layer of interest. i’d love to see you take on another all resin project again one day!
The swirls of gold within the green are so lovely, particularly with the light shining through. You are getting really good at achieving consistency with the color separation. Also, the burl has so much interesting character. I look forward to seeing how the smaller bowl turns out when you get to that one.
One of your videos was suggested to me. I don't have a lathe or any of the tools you do. I'm absolutely fascinated watching you make your art. Some day I just might be able acquire one of your beautiful pieces! 😊
Oh my days!!! The lit up beauty shots at the end really elevated what was a superb work of art into another dimension! Keep up the fantastic work, good Sir! 😎👍
I rewatched the end of your video from today, the lit up bowl is absolutely stunning. Made me think of how a red, orange, gold, combo would give the maple burl islands look like they were surrounded in lava. Just a thought.
@@SpragueWoodturning Awesome! But be careful the red doesn't overtake the other colors. Some red pigments are rather aggressive. I look forward to seeing this!
Thanks Jim. My guitar repair guy in Ashton Ontario gave me a HUGE maple burl. It’s totally dry and has been sitting in my basement for months now. I keep looking at it trying to decide how to approach it. The idea of slicing it up and casting in Designer Epoxy is probably the only way that I can tackle it. Great video.
Designer Epoxy Another GREAT project Jim. Happy to see that when you core you are not going all the way to the center. The tailstock extension really adds to that.
This is not the first time I have watched this particular video. I love green and the gold with it, is stunning. I so enjoy watching the end product taking shape. One of my uncles did wood-turning and also custom made furniture. I am now 75 years old and I still vividly remember his workshop with the wood and tools, and the wonderful smell of the wood and the shavings on the floor. It was bliss for me in my childhood years.
Green is not my favorite color, but I think that turned out beautiful. I like how you call the owner of Designer apoxy for advice and then pass that on to us. Have a great week.
This bowl is pretty for sure, sorry you got beat up by it. Excited to see what you create from the core of it. I am sure the charity is thankful for a this very artistic piece you created. Designer Epoxy
Although I think it is absolutely gorgeous like you said items in a seat of green it would have been so beautiful with blue. It literally looks like a globe❤
Oh Jim what a wonderful foundation to donate this Absolutely amazing Gorgeous bowl to. I hope the auction goes very well for them. Lol Canuck Tire is only in Canada. I Absolutely love the eye that formed. Love the green and gold mica powders you uses. I was talking with Gabriel yesterday about you at Designer Epoxy on the phone. All great 😂 not to worry. Lol I have to sell some of my 70 thousand dollars of craft supplies here so I can buy some Absolutely stunningly gorgeous pieces you have made. Take care and oh yah finally 27 degrees Celsius here. Hoping it is warm and melting that white stuff away.
When you first showed the bottom edge with "eye," that is exactly what I thought! And at the very beginning, when you were about to cut the piece on the band saw, there was what looked like a monster face! I'm surprised no one mentioned, (that I've seen). Another beautiful piece.
My mum is actually an OT, so its really cool to see a channel I watch doing something related to an OT charity! The bowl itself is fantastic, the colours are really great and the burl is beautiful. You've done it again, Jim!
Great piece, truly appreciate that you do works for charity. I’d love to see this color combo with that awesome deep purple as a contrasting addition. ~Smile oN
Another beautiful piece, I like the combo colors ( The green has a calming feeling to it) we enjoy your programs. DESIGNER EPOXY looks like a product. Keep on turning !!
WOW, your stuff always looks soooo nice! Don't ever stop your talk-overs, it make this channel special. I don't miss a show but I usually watch on my TV so commenting is hard. Keep up the great work.
This bowl turned out fantastic and whoever wins it in the auction is a very lucky person. DESIGNER EPOXY seems to be the way to go. I am encouraging my hubby (the woodturner in the family) to use it
As always Jim, your artistry is wonderful to watch! I also can’t understand why people wouldn’t watch your whole videos, we love your longer ones like these!
The best happy accident " bubble eye " - very cool. Love the green and gold. Hope your bowl fetches a really good $ amount for the charity. It deserves it. Fun video to watch as always. Thanks for all your great content.
A gorgeous bowl Jim! it should bring a good amount at the auction. Looking forward to seeing what your do with the small bowl and the rest of the burl. Cheers
Mind blown ... absolutely stunning combination of wood and resin ... almost looked like a planet from the side with the continents floating in a green ocean ... fantastic 👍 Perfect timing ... just as I typed my comment ... you mentioned planet 🤣
Good afternoon Jim. If you remember our metal detector/shrapnel conversation, I did forget to mention my CHEAP solution. Go to a harbor freight type place, and pick up a set of welding sleeves. Cut out some cooling areas on them, opposite the side facing the lathe. They will get hot otherwise. Cheap protection, in a set of 2. $9 US.

Hopefully it sells for a million bucks! Thanks Kim!

I put comments in the older videos only to let you know how impressed I am with your craftsmanship and imagination. I don't want anything in return. 😊
I do thank you for it!

The green and gold together make a very impressive bowl. Another amazing piece of art.
I found animals in the bowl!
Seahorse, armadillo on the outside, and a woodchuck inside!
Love the green and gold!

Got lots of blanks ready to do at some point. Thanks
I love the Pearlescent colors. They remind me of the Bowling Balls of the 60's. I loved to bowl when I was a kid.

My wife and I love your videos - it's amazing to see your art come to life!

I rewatched the end of your video from today, the lit up bowl is absolutely stunning. Made me think of how a red, orange, gold, combo would give the maple burl islands look like they were surrounded in lava. Just a thought.
Yes, we might see that with some of the other pieces from the same burl. Thanks
