@@Back_Road_Hero Most definitely. Test drove a F-type. After driving my friends XKR. A wee bit tight inside and just missed the the soul and room of the XKR. F-type is a right sports car but I'm buying an XKR.
Just happened upon this looking for XKR videos. So pleased I found you tube. Absolutely fitting challenge and love the car, in fact been looking for the right one for some time. Got the bug even more so - need another garage and will potentially be kicked out with my Jags but who cares when you have that workmanship, engine and mastery. Thank you.
Just getting the XKR bug and watching loads of videos. One day I will own one!! That sound…..😮 and those looks 😊 Gutted to hear you sold it……and not to me 😢
Did you barge into a poor blokes house demanding a room for the night and then "borrow" all their silver ware on your way out? Just givin ya a ribbin. Love the XKR. Cheers from a right cheeky ozzy. Cheers to ya father in law as well. Excellent taste!
40:29 just got my XKR in the memory of my dad as it was what he really wanted but sadly passed away before he got it. Now I want to try this challenge. Keep up the good work and good luck with your next challenge.
@@Back_Road_Hero not the best way to spend are savings as the wife could think of other things to use them on but wow what a car. Would never of been my first choice but now I’ve driven it for a while I love it.
Well done on what was probably one of the hardest Race Against God for many years due to the road closures on the M25 and A12 and also the possible diversion up the A1(M). I did it successfully in 2014 but we had no road closures to deal with, which makes it a bit easier. Congratulations on successfully completing the challenge.
Awesome video! I needed this to get through the day, another 18 hours and I pick up my 2007 XKR convertible. I'm excited to drive this beauty home 2 hours and 100 miles after picking it up. I hope to enjoy it as much as you have your/Robin's XKR!
It’s great fun. Best to do it on the 21st though to share with others. There’s always a thread on Pistonheads forums for those doing it any particular year. Ed
Good work. You might want to consider the UK 4 Points challenge (most northerly, westerley, easterly and southerly points) in 24hrs. Needs 2 of you, a friend and I did it a few years ago and to add extra spice we did it in a car that cost us less than £1000.
Well put together that. I should've spent more on an XK. My XK8 was a corvair, so rusty it was unsafe at any speed. And guess what, popular car auctions people don't accurately describe the car!
That was awesome fun… You must remember to de stress in these challenges a little more by applying the super charger a little more frequently… that’s what it’s for..😂🤣👏💯👍 😉🫢 driving is so much fun. I am busy building my own month long trip to Europe and will buy a car when I get there.. the XKRS is high on my list. I was thinking of using some of the roads from the bond movies as a theme..
Thanks Alan. I love road trips. All we need is an excuse. Looks like you have a great idea. But where’s the info on the bond roads? I might like to do that myself some day. Ed
We sent it to Chiltern Jag for a god look over. There was a couple of suspension boots, we did all the belts inc the supercharger as a precaution, service and an air con re-gas. About £1k in all but just brings it up to perfection. Did you know the previous owner? Ed

The XKR is a genuine piece of mastery. One day I will own one. The whine of that supercharge is unbelievable
It’s just a beautiful car and will go down in history as one of the finest Jags ever. Ed

Lovely tribute there to your father in law :). Love the XKR! GB
Thank you very much. It’s greatly appreciated. Ed
What a fitting tribute and a great way to continue Robin's passion for cars
Thanks Steve. It’s very much appreciated. Ed
Well Done!!!
Thank you for watching it. Ed
The XKR is hard to beat as a GT car. Perfect for journeys like this. Well done
Thanks Hugh. It was massive fun. Ed
Well done and what a lovely tribute to your father in law. That car has to be a keeper!
Hi Dale. It sure was fun but unfortunately the car is now sold. Ed
“Good Man” and a fitting challenge. You should be proud not so much for the journey but more for your reasons for taking it on👍
Thank you for watching. Every little helps. It sure was fun though! Ed
🍺👍
Great presentation and tribute to your F in L. He had great taste in cars that Jag in the nicest colour combo has to be a keeper.
Thanks. Unfortunately it’s now sold. Ed
Really like your work sir. The passion is evident.
Thank you very much. Ed

My wife sold it against my wishes. Ed
I am contemplating buying one; however my current options are
1. 987 Cayman S
2. E92 M3
3. SL 55/500 2007
4. XKR 5.0
5. E 400 Mercedes/C 300 Mercedes
All great cars. Ed
Well done sir. Gladiator we salute you!

It’s just the most awesome long distance cruiser ever. Enjoy. Ed
What a fantastic car. Amazing colour too !
I prefer this XK over the F-Type.
The XK is true to form for Jaguar. The XK sure is a right sports car but it's just missing the soul of a XK. Especially the supercharged XKR.
That was a genuinely exciting challenge. Well done for achieving it against the odds.
Thanks Paul. It was a really worth while but entirely trivial pursuit. Ed
Congrats Ed. Thoroughly enjoyably. Had me on the edge of my seat at at the end, cheering you on 👏👏
Thank you so much. I had massive fun doing it. Ed
I've wanted to try this for a few years now, getting older though (67...).
It’s great fun. Give it a go this year. Ed
Well done very impressive and would give gezzer a run for his money..nice video
Well done. Great video. Love the XKR. Good luck with challenge 2.
Thanks Malcolm. It was fun, and for a good cause. It’s just getting the time now to complete the rest.
Well done ..............Love the XK.
Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Thank you. I’d so much fun making it. Ed
Really good video, I am hoping to do the same with my 4.2 SC next summer
Hopefully I’ll get a chance do do it again. Best of luck. Ed
I'll have to try that adventure. Jacksonville, FL to San Diego, CA. 34 hours by Google maps...
It was so much fun but made possible only be the sunset to sunrise times. Have fun and thanks for commenting. Ed
Great video Sir - what a noise the XKR makes on an overtake!
There’s nothing quite like it. That supercharger whine and the V8. I don’t know of any other V8 that revs so freely. Ed
Fantastic video, always wanted to do this challenge. Will definitely have to give it a go next year!
Hopefully I will as well. Maybe even in the first EV to try it! Ed
Well done that was very exciting.
I live in Lowestoft and the traffic lights can be horrendous
Thanks Jim. It was awesome fun. Ed
Well done. Great drive. Fantastic car. You should keep it
I’d love to but technically it’s my wife’s. Completely up to her but she has more memories with her dad’s Maserati 3200GT.
Great drive, great car, great presentation, enjoyed this vid , 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Keith. Much appreciated.
Thank you really enjoyed watching you and condolences best of luck 🙏
Many thanks Steven. I sure had fun. It’s just getting the time to do these that is the issue at the moment. Ed

Well done, great vid 👍
Beautiful car 👍
An excellent video and really enjoyable. I'm developing a bit of a thing for the XK and seeing this video had proven why. Subscribed.
Thanks Ian. I still prefer the XK to the more modern F-Type.
@@Back_Road_Hero yeah me too. They do different things, I suppose, but the idea of a GT car just sits better with the Jag badge for me.
Sorry to hear about your loss edd
Thanks Ian.
Enjoy and take care.
That was so good! I'm looking at a xk r.n 😂
Glad you enjoyed it. Ed
Well done.

To be honest it was an awesome drive. Couldn’t include the ‘incriminating’ footage. 😜🥸
@@Back_Road_Hero I know, your getting muddled up now, that was the other fella… 🤫🤐🤭🤥😉
Been watching your videos. Can’t decide now on the 4.2 or the 5.0
Just buy on condition and history. Both are great cars. Ed
@@Back_Road_Hero thanks for the sound advice
Oh man seems not long since you n Robin bought the car online...take care.
Not that long ago at all but seems a lifetime. Ed
What work was needed if any on Colins Jaguar when purchased ? It’s a beautiful car !

Try it again on 21st December 😄
Edit: No need 😯
But that’s the longest night! Easy. Ed
