2 years ago I taught myself how to sew, and since then I have sewn a lot of my clothes myself. Just now I completed my prom dress yayyyy And I found that you have one of the few channels on youtube that I can watch and learn. Most "sewing" videos, unfortunately, include girls hand stitching a piece of elastic to a bra and calling it a "caged bralette". Or worse even, they glue it on! So I find it absolutely delightful to know when I click on any of your videos I will see actual, proffesional sewing. Thank you so much!!!

That herringbone is gorgeous! I'm excited to see how the jacket made out of it comes out. The pieces you made with the lace and tulle overlay for the Civil War ballgown came out so amazing. I wasn't sure what I thought of it until I saw the finished pieces. You've given me some ideas for a long sleeveless cape/coat that I'm working on. I really love watching your weekly progress videos - I hope you can find the time to do more! I love double gauze too. It's so soft and easy to work with - it does fray like hell though! Most double gauze is Japanese so can be expensive to source (especially online), but so worth it.
Great progress! I know it's a lot of work but it's coming out beautifully. That petticoat is really inspiring me to make one to put underneath a robe à la française I'm working on.
Thanks for posting your progress! I am making a civil war dress and a Victorian dress as well, but I've been totally unmotivated because of the amount of narrow hemming and gathering I have to do for the ruffles 😭. This gave me motivation to push through and try to get these dresses done👍🏼

Honey, you should make yourself a rice bag. Just make a small bag and fill it with rice. When your neck is hurting heat the rice in the microwave and place it on your neck. Lay on a pillow or something to hold the bag in place. The heat will really help your neck. Also ibuprofen helps if you can take it . Combine the ibuprofen and the heat for a double bang. You might also find doing this when you go to bed will help relieve your pain so you can sleep. I also find ice packs to be a great pain reliever. Try both to see which one works better for you. I recommend this as a nurse with many years experience, plus someone with ruptured discs in my neck, so I’ve learned over the years how to deal with neck pain! Good luck.

Do you have any suggestions as to where I can buy affordable chiffon fabrics to make 1930's dresses? Do you make your own patterns when making your projects? I have THE SAME questions. To me all these videos are very deceiving. We never see her do the actual work, just the easiest pieces. Then suddenly all the garment is complete and every costume she shows has such an unimaginable amount of work invested. She only says I did this, I'm going to do this but you never get to see the process 😒. The work is amazing, it seems the work of someone who has lots of experience and knowledge and a PURPOSE, not someone who does this as a hobby.

My Weekly Progress Logs just document what i'm up to throughout the week and what my headspace is like as i'm working on things. They give an overview of what I have in progress and how things are coming along. And usually a bit of information about projects that are too complicated to film the process of making. Your personality makes me so happy!! Is it weird to say that if I met you I think we would be friends? I recently started sewing a lot of my own clothing (I learned how to use a sewing machine pretty young but never really made anything more than a few square pillows) and I just love watching your videos! They inspire me so much! I am actually currently in school for nursing and I'm about to change my major to apparel and textiles so I'm really scared to make the change because I know a lot of people that think I should stick with the job security of healthcare but I know what I want to do and love doing and I'm very excited!
Hi! Was nice to go through this video and get some things solid in my mind. I am making a 1866 evening gown with a twist. It took quite a bit of research to figure out what was appropriate. It needed to be post civil war, of course, and right for a matron, not a younger woman, and right for someone of middle income. My husband's restaurant is catering an historical society yearly ball. Since it is Laramie's 150th anniversary, it's a big deal. All servers, etc, are to be in costume, and these folks are picky. Needing extra servers, they asked for my help, but im not dressing like some young serving girl (they went a little too immodest with the costumes) but i could dress as a middle aged matron in her "best dress" who was asked to help. I love history, but had never explored this one before. Not sure of appropriate trim at sleeves and collar, though. Any suggestions?

Hi Angela, in some of your videos I hear you mention that you don't feel well or like in this one you are mentioning your neck is bothering you. Would you mind sharing what is the cause of your discomfort? I am disabled and it is very hard to sew because I am in pain everyday all day! It is nice to see that you are pushing through your discomfort! I wish I could! 😒 I try in small amounts but it is hard! Keep up the good work! You're amazing!
You use a lot of boning which helps amazingly with the structure of your bodices... Where do you get your plastic boning (that looks kinda like a never ending ziptie..)

i really enjoyed watching you work. you have a great eye. i understand how much work you have put in. i once mad a civil war dress plus undergarments from a simplicity pattern. that would have been easy compared to what you are doing. i wish there was someone with your skill and i wish i could afford someone with your skill near me. i have found historical clothing looks a lot better on me than modern. do you do commissions or do you only make the costumes for yourself. also what do you do with the clothing once you have made them. i personal would wear them in my normal life. (im crazy like that)
Where do you keep all of your finished projects? I imagine some kind of "bat cave"-esque underground hideaway, but I won't be disappointed if that doesn't actually exist.

+acestrella93 Those are very expensive materials. Lots of fabric and sequened lace is expensive. Such a big project. I would really like to know what this project is for? LOTS OF QUESTIONS!!! Lots of talking but no footage on the process 😞

I would love to see a video about how you scale up patterns from books! I’ve never seen how that’s done and it would be super useful for someone looking to get into historical costuming

Also I wanted to ask you something. How do you make a panneled skirt as long has that pink civil war era costume? Does it work just like a normal panneled skirt? How much fabric did you use for that one in the end?

Your personality makes me so happy!! Is it weird to say that if I met you I think we would be friends? I recently started sewing a lot of my own clothing (I learned how to use a sewing machine pretty young but never really made anything more than a few square pillows) and I just love watching your videos! They inspire me so much! I am actually currently in school for nursing and I'm about to change my major to apparel and textiles so I'm really scared to make the change because I know a lot of people that think I should stick with the job security of healthcare but I know what I want to do and love doing and I'm very excited!

Hi! Was nice to go through this video and get some things solid in my mind. I am making a 1866 evening gown with a twist. It took quite a bit of research to figure out what was appropriate. It needed to be post civil war, of course, and right for a matron, not a younger woman, and right for someone of middle income. My husband's restaurant is catering an historical society yearly ball. Since it is Laramie's 150th anniversary, it's a big deal. All servers, etc, are to be in costume, and these folks are picky. Needing extra servers, they asked for my help, but im not dressing like some young serving girl (they went a little too immodest with the costumes) but i could dress as a middle aged matron in her "best dress" who was asked to help. I love history, but had never explored this one before. Not sure of appropriate trim at sleeves and collar, though. Any suggestions?

Hi Angela, in some of your videos I hear you mention that you don't feel well or like in this one you are mentioning your neck is bothering you. Would you mind sharing what is the cause of your discomfort? I am disabled and it is very hard to sew because I am in pain everyday all day! It is nice to see that you are pushing through your discomfort! I wish I could! 😒 I try in small amounts but it is hard! Keep up the good work! You're amazing!

i really enjoyed watching you work. you have a great eye. i understand how much work you have put in. i once mad a civil war dress plus undergarments from a simplicity pattern. that would have been easy compared to what you are doing. i wish there was someone with your skill and i wish i could afford someone with your skill near me. i have found historical clothing looks a lot better on me than modern. do you do commissions or do you only make the costumes for yourself. also what do you do with the clothing once you have made them. i personal would wear them in my normal life. (im crazy like that)
Where do you keep all of your finished projects? I imagine some kind of "bat cave"-esque underground hideaway, but I won't be disappointed if that doesn't actually exist.
