Enjoyed this tutorial but couldn’t believe how you stay so clean; I have it all over me when using acrylics. Your finished abstract was beautiful! Thanks! 👩🏻🎨
I really enjoyed your instructional video! I especially like your style of teaching because beginners don't have to struggle to understand the concepts/techniques being taught as your instructions are clear and precise and you're very easy to follow. Thank you for your video! And ... OMG, I LOVE your kitty! What a gem! So playful and lovable!
Thank you Beckie :) I am doing my best to let the negative remarks flow off like water off a duck's back. Many of the remarks are made by unhappy people...or people who don't understand the freedom of the artistic experience. ! Thanks for your support!
I will do my best! I have heard a rumor that they may be discontinuing the comments on UA-cam. Hope it is a rumor! We will find someway to stay in touch everyone!
It seems to me it might be advantageous to paint a thin solid background, letting it dry first then start to drip, dribble, splatter, and spray the various other colours on that. The way you’ve done it, manipulating the colours in order to cover the white, creates areas of muddiness. My experience is to do very little “massaging” and do a bit of scrunching of the plastic wrap to get the wrinkles of colour. That said, muddiness is ok, too.🦌💌❤️🇨🇦
Exactly right! This was one of my first attempts at such craziness 3 years ago. Since then, I do start with a colored background, usually opposite in "temperature" to the colors I put over the top. I started one with a hot cadmium orange and then hit it with cool teals, greens, and then intermingled metallic golds...it was fantastic. I need to do another video showing all the new tricks! Thanks for that tip for our viewers!
Pricilla Hauser is a "One Stroke" painter who most likely learned her craft from Donna Dewberry. They practice a technique painting that many people who are crafters really love. Double loading the brush to get particular effects, they practice distinct brush strokes to get predictable patterns. The original history comes from Germany and the designs are often painted on furniture. Very fun to practice!
Hi Beckie, I like Liquitex or Golden paints in the acrylics. Here's another secret...for more liquid paint, recently I have been adding high quality, high gloss paint mixed in various colors from the paint department at the hardware store. I have it made in quarts, then I put it in squeeze bottles! Note: I plan to do a lesson on the difference between acrylics and oils in the next video.
Merci!...My French is not great, but I think this person is saying, ...'In making the abstract, leading to something of admiration, there are other materials on the market that make it possible to create the painting without all the mess! ' Yes, you can create the texture with a thick texture paint or other material under the painting. The plastic wrap is just one way of doing it. Merci Beaucoup! Nettie Kaye
Hi Minna, This was one of my earliest videos. Since then, I do my best to cover most of the important points in "real time." Of course I don't film the drying time! :)
