  • On the second no talk, just work Shut Up Sunday I remove a 1978 Honda four cylinder CB550K engine by myself. The video is a bit longer than my normal stuff but it is extremely detailed with just about everything that you need to do to remove this heavy motor.
This is the second episode of what I am hoping to make a weekly series airing every Sunday. I take a job from the week before and film it with no talk, and no music. I try to pick work that is visually self explanatory so I can use as few narration cards as possible as well.

Lol, it is a bit tougher reinstalling by yourself. But where there is a will there is a way.
      Best!

@@theeddies Yeah i got this bike from a moving i helped in,the poor thing is identical to the one you dismantled and it only had 20 thousand miles when they left it outside in 1984 behind a house, of course time just ravaged it, one of the cylinders in the jugs was completely toast so i bought a new whole assembly on eBay for cheap, the same piston on the actual head, that combustion chamber is toast also, gonna have to probably get that too plus the whole thing needs restore but thats the fun of it,at least for me.
When i pulled the engine out i actually straddled the bike and pulled that bastard out to the side by myself gently setting it on the floor, after that stunt i dont think ill be having anymore children in the future,ha ha ha.

@@dntlss lol, I feel ya. I have done plenty of twins and fours with the old straddle and pull method. Honestly, this video is kind of stupid because as I remember the engine can be further disassembled (and reassembled) in frame. Twins are near impossible to that way because the head studs are too long. In frame is the way I would do it in future. I am pretty sure the whole top end can be done that way. This guy came out intact for a complete video teardown.

I always take the engine out last, and put it back in first. It's much easier as you can just lift the frame off/on.

For a full teardown that is surely easier.

Are you stripping it for parts, or going to rebuild and reuse the motor?

Man, do you sleep? JK. Bike has a lot of rot, motor??? Hmmmm? Haven't decided yet. I won't use it, but I may try to sell complete, good compression, shifts, etc. It will get a new life somewhere, either whole or in pieces.

I am not programed to sleep. lol That's cool. I'm sure lots of people are looking for parts or even a whole engine. I was talking to a guy about a week ago that said he has a CB750, I think. Maybe it was a 550 too. Not sure. @@theeddies

Yeah I don't sleep much either. They are still fairly popular, maybe not as much as the 750.

1:45 That hose off the bottom of the airbox is made of "unobtainium", I hope you didn't throw it away.

I don't throw anything away unless rotted. It sold with the airbox.
      Thanks!

@@dntlss It's true, it's a really hard to get part. The bike will run just fine without it tho.
