  • Firstly let me apologise for the AFR display it was more stable in the flesh none of the jumping about.
So I believe the optimum ratio is 14.7:1
fourteen point seven grams of air to one gram of fuel.
I couldn't believe how much I had to adjust my idle mixture on tune ECU to obtain the perfect or close too setting forty plus ,it's only a number .
So with that set I had a go with holding the capo at revs I've got it pretty close for a big simple twin which goes super lean when those throttle bodies are opened up.
I think I was around six point five for the long term fueling and ended up around tenish.
I think the AFR gauge is fantastic at checking so see if your engine is running right , I wonder if I will feel the difference riding or get poorer fuel economy now .
My results idle went from 12.5 to 43
Ltft went from 6.5. to 10.8
    Conclusion-
After adjusting six out of eight valves
    and balancing my throttle bodies
    was my bike lean everywhere?
The latest news I tried again and moved the Venturi tube to a different position in the exhaust and dropped the idle trim down to 12 to achieve the 14.7:1 at idle so all quite confusing I think ride it and double check the plugs .
Please see part 2 for final fueling results .

All you need now is a rolling road and the sky is the limit 👍🏼

Ha ha I have thought of the centre stand and running it also I made the power lead to plug into the aux on the bike so actually could ride it on the road and fix the AFR box and have a watch what's going on .
I think a quiet road would be best or an old Airfield which I have a few around Norfolk left from WW2.

Thank you for your dedication to sharing this info as you go about your build. Most of the information out there is old and hard to piece together through dead links on the forums. One question though, why did you go with air/fuel gauge as opposed to carbon monoxide tester like the Gunson Gastester? I know Catfish had always recommended using the CO tester to get the ratio right. I have neither because $$$ but hoping to find one eventually

Thanks for your comments and the short answer is that you actually need a four gas tester and like you said mega $$$ or £££.
I had an old snap on one from the 1980 and when it broke it was impossible and expensive to repair this is the same with the gunson one I've heard mixed reports .
The innovative AFR with wide band oxygen sensor will measure the ratio through the whole rev range so I thought I would give it a go.
