THANKYOU FOR ALL THE INFORMATIONS.
Thank u so much...

I am forever grateful for this video…. Cant thank you enough… god bless u n maya!!!
Aww thanks. Glad you found it useful.
Did maya have to take a poke to sleep during flights?
Nope. She didn’t have to. It’s not even a requirement.
@@lockstockcanada8289 quick question. What was the total cost to take maya to toronto? Thx.
Hello Maria how's the weather over there
About CAD 1000. Half The expense was finding a crate.
Hello! Great video! I have a question: is it possible to travel to Toronto from centro America with my pet in 2022?
Hey there, this was very helpful. I am moving with my pet cat from Singapore to Canada .Just another question - did you have to apply for an import permit/ pet import license also along with the indian export license. Thanks again this was very helpful.
Hi could you please explain about titer test. Is it required in Europe?
Thank you so much❤ it helped a lot.
Just lifted ton of weight off of my shoulders. Info very useful helpful . Really appreciate it🙏👍👍
I am more than grateful to you that you helped me with this information. Thankyou so much.

Thank you so much for this information.
SO WELL EXPLAINED!! you are so good!! THANKS
Hello Sanjay how's the weather over there
I m planning to book with klm airlines. Should i do the booking. Hope its safe. Anyone has done with klm plz reply
I am coming with a Frenchie I would like to know if it’s expensive owning a dog in Canada, like the vet and all dat
If your pet is healthy, then I would say not very expensive. The problems start when they get ill or injured. Then the vet bills really start to stack up. This is also the reason why getting insurance for your pet as soon as you land is a good idea even if it remains unused. This can set you back anywhere between $70-150 a month.
I have german shepherd dog 3yeare old is this breed allowed in canada
Thank you for this info...any idea as to how the airlines charged you for Maya.i have a lab👍
Hey. The airlines charged me about $400 USD back in 2018. So I’d set aside about $500 factoring in miscellaneous charges for ground transport.
@@lockstockcanada8289 thank you for the quick response.
@@lockstockcanada8289 hey I have a couple of questions, since now canada have quarantine rule is there any registered govt covid hotels or stays.secondly my dog is not trained to do her job at home she generally takes a walk on the road ,in Canada do they have any specific place for dogs to do there job.i tried to search in google but there are no good results.thank you.
Hey, I don’t know about quarantine hotels that are accepting dogs. The list of hotels should be there on the Canadian govt website.
You can take your dog outdoors to do their business. As long as it’s not someone’s property and you pick up after them.
Can i travel to Canada with Indian domestic dog .
Yes of course.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is very informative and helped me to know the process.. hopefully I will be able to bring my pet to Canada soon!
How much you paid to Lufthansa and Lufthansa is still allow to travel with dog
Hi, were you able to bring your dog in lufthansa? I am not able to register as lufthansa says there is restriction in destination country but I dont see any such in government of Canada website. Your inputs are really helpful, thanks.
Hi can i ask what if i have only working visa?to canada am i still able to bring my dog?at tje same process?thanks in advance😊
Yes you can. No problem. Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you so much! This was like the most helpful video ever!!!!!
Very Informative. One question. Is there any restrictions or taboo for Indian street breed dog?
Nope, no restrictions. Just be sure that they are healthy and vaccinated :)
Hi, I tried registering my labrador in lufthansa as excess baggage but the airline denied it due to some restrictions in destination country. Can you please let me know if you have any info, I'm trying to bring my dog from Bangalore to Toronto.
Do we need consent from the gov of the place we are moving to i.e canada
No you don’t. Are you reading this somewhere?
Hi, does AVA or Canada government requires a certain amount of time or year that a dog has been vaccinated. its because i lost my dog’s vaccination card.
I don’t think so. You will however need a recent vaccination record.
Hey,
Did you have to take a rabies titer test when traveling with Lufthansa?
Not needed for Canada as a destination.
This is really good information, and I'm pleased that Ark was the vet you were using.. I am planning on moving my pet as well so this was really helpful 😊
Yup. They are the best. Hands down. :)
My pet is a rescue as well, he hates going to the vet and ye let's the world know by barking.. my concern is how he'd be treated by the handlers in Lufthansa... I know it's totally out of what your video is, but it's concerning
What is the process for custom clearance at the arrival port, what documents are needed for it, and what is the cost for the same ?
What is the cost for taxi dear ?
How did u find a pet friendly accommodation?
AirBnB. Many are classified as pet friendly. I took the time during my Airbnb stay to find another long term accommodation.
Very very helpful video.
Thank you.
We are going to import our pet now.
Hi … I have dog in Canada… I want to visit India. Could you help me what do I need to visit India with my dog ?
hi, just wondering how much will be the total cost i have to spend for this..Thank you
I can't thank you enough. Absolutely detailed and to the point. I will be travelling from the UK to Canada next month with Air Canada, I hope it all goes nice and smooth for my little German shepherd. Thank you...
Wish you and the little one a safe journey! :)
Hello Med how's the weather over there
hey, its really helpful information . i need to send one of the indie dog to canada ,, which is got adopted by Canadian resident . wanted to know how much cash u had to pay while checkin of your dog?
Are you sending the dog via cargo or will someone be accompanying the dog on the flight ? The costs differs greatly for these options.
I've a Pitbull, but I read that it's not allowed in Ontario. Is it true? So I can take him to other province right?
This is true. I have however seen pit bulls in Toronto. Probably rescues. You can always try another province.
Hello friend, thanks for the so nice video. I was quite interested to know how is owning dogs in Canada, especially during the winters. I own 2 big dogs here in Brazil, where I can keep them in a house with a large backyard...
Hey Fábio, winters are harsh but manageable. As long as you time the walks to about 10-15 mins for temp around -20°C, it should be fine. Colder it is, lesser they should be exposed outdoors. Otherwise until -10 they are totally fine. My dog was used to 30°C back home. After three years, she can’t handle temperatures higher than 20°C. 😂. She’s used to Canada now.
Hello. Thanks for such informative video. It has helped many of us.
I just wanted to know what's the size of the crate you bought? 40 or 48?
We got a 48” crate for our Doberman. But perhaps a 40” would have been sufficient.
Thanks for the video, i have a question when pet lands to canada, what all documents do they check?
Vaccination records. Animal health certificate. That’s pretty much it.
@@lockstockcanada8289 thanks for your response
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing your experience as well as the key points we need to keep in mind :)
Much love to Maya - from her distant cousins - Brandy and Zeppelin!
Hi thank you for so much information , it’s really helpful.
Also would like to know total cost & cost of pet kennel ?
If you are bringing a Labrador sized dog, then it will cost you close to INR 35k for all the documents, vaccines, certification. Plus, the cost of a crate - which can cost upto INR 25-30k.
@@lockstockcanada8289 thank you 😊
THIS IS SO GENUINE INFO ... MUCH OF THANKS 🙏
Thanks for the info. Wanted to reach out if anyone travelled with pet during pandemic.any changes in process pl?
No major change that I know of. Still the same.
Hi...can you please tell about the cost in Lufthansa..
Apart from your ticket, the cost of transport for your dog would be about $ 400.
Can i take my adopted(fully vaccinated) indian desi dog to canada?
Yes of course. Sorry for the late reply.
Hey , Great informative video....really helped me calm my nerves as I will be coming to Canada with two dogs ....Can u let me know what all vaccine are needed ? , Do they need booster vaccination for rabies.....also it is it necessary for them to be given the corona virus vaccine for pets?
Happy journey✈️
Rabies is the only one required. They should have the right vaccine for their age at the time of travel. You don’t need booster if there is still time for it. It can be taken here as well.
Hello Grenille how's the weather over there
Even I am a owner of a Doberman and planning for same thing... What was the total cost charged for maya to travel from India to canada.. (including vet documents, flight charges etc)
All inclusive about ₹ 60-70k.
Amazing Video & really helpful info! Can you tell me if Rottweilers are allowed in (Ontario -Toronto) as I will be moving there and need to take my 2 year old Rotty with me.
Hey Sahil, I think transporting Rottweilers is a problem. Not sure what the current policy is on Rottweilers in Canada. Changes from province to province.
@@lockstockcanada8289 I am moving to Ontario
I plan to fly with my male doberman in March. He'll be about 11 months then. Could you tell me about the crate you ordered, the dimensions and the price of it. Thanks a lot in advance.
Hi Anisha. We got a 42" crate that looks very similar to the Petmate sky carrier. It wasn't branded but it looked exactly the same. It set us back by a solid INR 30k. Please check Lufthansa's crate guidelines for additional details.
www.lufthansa.com/us/en/transporting-animals-as-excess-baggage
I would recommend a crate such as this because it has hand holds on the side for the ground crew to move the crate around. The only downside is that it's too large and bulky. Usually, your local pet store will charge you a bomb for this. So shop around and see if you can get a great deal on this. Sometimes, it takes time to import.
@@lockstockcanada8289 i already got a 42 inch one but my boy doesn't fit in it anymore. So I'll probably have to get a 48 inch one. I really appreciate your reply and shall keep your advice in mind. If it's not too much of a trouble, do you remember the dimensions of the crate you got for Maya? The height most importantly
@@anishasharma2579 Honestly, we dont remember anymore. I can't even trace the measurements so I can't reliably tell you if it was 42 or 48 inches. What I do know is that your doberman should be able to stand comfortably inside the crate. I wouldn't be too concerned about the ears scraping the roof of the crate (if he is cropped).
@@lockstockcanada8289 that's great. Thank you very much for your help.
@@anishasharma2579 hi plz share your experience too if you have flown to canada. Specially which airlines you took. It will be very helpful.
Hi, do they check the animal quarantine health certificate when you enter Canada ? Or Just the health certificate from the local vet works with the vaccination record works ?
Honestly, I am not sure. But you do need the Quarantine health certificate when you leave India.
Do u recommend a nonstop flight from india or a 1 stop? Considering moving with our 7yr old beagle.
Hey very informative video. thank you
can i travel with my dog on a student visa?
or do i need to have my pr to be able to?
I think you can travel with your dog while on a student visa. You don’t really need a PR to bring your dog.
Hi Sandeep, Thank you for sharing this video, definitely very helpful for those looking to bring their pet to Canada! I had just one doubt regarding transiting your pet through EU - do we need to get a rabies titer test done if we’re traveling via EU? Thanks
Happy to be helpful. You don’t need the titer test if you are transiting via Frankfurt.
@@lockstockcanada8289 hi Sandeep even i need this information. Do you have any valid proof of this source so that I can show at airport.
Crisp and to the point video.... Really helpful. Thanks. You just missed to tell us the total cost you have incurred on Maya for transporting her from India to Toronto.
Thanks Sumit. The flight ticket would be about 20-25k, vaccinations and microchip about 5k. Crate price depends in size of dog so hard to tell. Can range from 10-40k.
Since traveling from India to Canada is a long journey.. are the pets fed throughout the journey? Or they are left without food ? And wat abt pee n poo ? Everything in crate?
What are the total expenses of taking dog from India to canda? I have an indie breed (adopted stray dog).
Depends on the size and weight of the dog.
Microchipping, vet certificate - ₹ 5k
Crate: ₹ 10 - 40k
Flight ticket - ₹ 25k
These are the biggest expenses.
Heard different airlines have their own regulations about the size of the crate. How did U get the exact size of the crate specified by Luftansa and how much did it cost?
We looked at the Lufthansa website for dimensions and then looked at available crates at a pet store. We measured it ourselves and then ordered one that would fit the description.
Hi, is it true that pugs and french bulldogs aren't allowed in flights?
That’s not true. There are some special restrictions. Talk to your airline about it. I am unable to open the snub nosed breed regulations link on the Lufthansa page.
www.lufthansa.com/ca/en/animals-as-additional-carry-on-baggage
Hi is there a limit on the number of dogs you could bring?
I think you are allowed a maximum of 2.
Hello
I am travelling from India to Canada in june but Air Canada said that they do not allow pet travel between march and oct due to heat conditions. Can you tell in which month you travelled and does Lufthansa have such restrictions?
Hi , I'm from Chennai and I want to talk to you about taking my dog to canada .. I desperately need help .
Hi. How can I help?
Hi I am planing to bring my male rottweiler which is about 55 kgs do Lufthansa airlines allow rottweilers and can you tell me the total expenses to bring my dog from India to Canada
They do allow but classify them as dangerous dog breeds so a special crate will be needed. I encourage you to check with the airline on what the special requirements are.
The cost of the crate is the highest. Followed by $400 Canadian, for the flight ticket. Vaccination and animal quarantine certification is less than 10k
Hi, is lufthansa allowing dogs as excess baggage from India to CANADAm
Is it necessary to get Vasectomy done for my dog to take him along ? I hv a beagle and he can’t travel 24hrs in crate ! Is there a way I can keep him with me ?
Sadly, since beagles are slightly above the weight category for in cabin transport there is nothing we can do here. You’ll have to train him to be in the crate for an extended period of time.
You don’t have to neuter your dog. But it’s cheaper if done back home than in Canada
Hi Sandeep, thanks for the video. I am planning to bring my labrador from Bangalore to Toronto via frankfurt but when I registered my pet on their website it got declined due to restriction in destination. But when I checked govt of Canada website it says the restriction is only on commercial import but I am not able to move further with lufthansa. Did you face similar situations and did the pet accompany you as the owner or was it brought by your family or friend?
How much will it cost for flight ticket of a 45 kgs adult dog if it's accompanied trip ?
You can see the latest rates on the Lufthansa website. But I guess it should be between $400-$500.
Can't thank you enough for sharing this.
I wanted to know, post landing when you try to book a taxi, are they fine with a dog hopping in? Like if you need to fold the crate and keep it in and then the dog is free to sit in the car?
The drivers would complain?
Depends on the taxi driver really. Some are ok. Some aren’t. But you will be able to find someone. If your dog looks menacing then carry a muzzle if you want them to be outside the crate in the car.
Thanks for the quick response, I have a 6year old lab, she is well behaved, only concern is, if majority of the drivers deny, will be a little stressful if we have to wait post landing, plus we have a todler.
Lame question: From India, with the luggage, how did you manage to take the crate and the dog to the airport? A mini truck? 😀
Lab? Should be ok. Don’t worry. If you had a GSD or a Doberman, things would have been different.
We drive to the airport in two cars. :) it was very annoying. And my family helped move the crate inside the airport.
After landing at Toronto airport we found a porter to help us find a cab. They all know each other and freaking fleece you, but it’s still better than being stranded.
@@lockstockcanada8289 thank you.
Btw, on a average, how much does it cost for the dog food there?
Basically I want to know the expenses that we would incur if we have a pet.
If you could make a video If possible on what to expect while having a pet there would be Very helpful.
Like food, vet, etc..

Hi..
Do we need to inform canadian govt in advance that we’ll be landing with our pet..?
Or we just complete the formalities and straight away take dog with us to canada..?
You don’t have to inform. You can just land with your pet.

Hi thank you for the video, it's very helpful. I was just wondering if you know weather it's allowed to bring your dog while on a student visa? Thanks again.
I think it should be allowed. Don’t see any reason why not.
Great info, which airline you took to travel with your pet ? most of the middle east carriers dont allow travel with pet when the duration exceeds 17 hours checked with all of them recently.
We travelled via Lufthansa as I mentioned in the video. Great experience!
Lock Stock Canada I have heard that as I went through the rest of the video.
Arunkumar Janarthanan we did some research and landed on Lufthansa. The flight times were comfortable. Lufthansa is also more capable in handling animal cargo than other airlines.
Lock Stock Canada I can bet ya, so my next flight is going to be BA or Lufthansa for bringing a pup in 😊
Interesting ! A helpful Video, indeed.
Hello Sandeep, is tat mandatory to sterilise your female dog before coming to Canada ?
Sruthi, it is not mandatory to sterilize your dog. However, please note that it is cheaper to do so in India than in Canada.
Do we need a ticket for our pet too or 400 Canadian Dollar covers all it expenses
You’ll be booking for your pet through the call Center. No ticket as such. They will just add animal cargo to your ticket.

I was SO worried about bringing my dog to Canada. I’m a veterinarian nurse and I know that it can be a bit challenging for animals to go on airplanes. I’m moving to Canada in June from Spain, I want to bring my dog so bad. She’s a mix, she’s a rescue. But yes, I’m worried about her going to the cargo. It make me nervous about her health.
This is so helpful !! I have two questions - can you let me know which company you bought the kennel from ?
I got it from a local pet shop. Who imported the crate from someone I guess.
And did you do all the paperwork by your self or hired a pet agent ?
Most of the paperwork was us. The agent only helped us get a health certificate from the quarantine center before flying.
very informative.. how much does it cost you to land ur pet in to canada including documentation n travel expenses?
Hey Woww this is such an amazing video!! I didn't understand one thing. You mentioned Lufthansa had a pet lounge to take care of the pet. When does that happen? Is it during a layover?
Also, could you please let me know where exactly you ordered and got your specific crate. I too am from Chennai so the information would be really helpful.
Hey, sorry just seeing your message. The pet lounge is at Frankfurt, and yes, they take care during layovers.
For my crate, I picked it up from a shop in Spencer Plaza. You may have to order your crate in advance if they don’t have the size you are looking for.
Thank you so much sir, this is the most useful video on youtube : )
Great video, Gentleman! I am actually very anxious. I have two big dogs weighing around 40 kgs each, 9 years old. They have never spent a single moment alone in the house, forget about crates n all. They've never been on a leash at home and even many times even during their walks(they are very well behaved). They are so used to humans. I just don't know how well will they hold up in Cargo in crates. Not even sure if such big crates are allowed. Please advise, much appreciated.
Hey Santosh, Lufthansa has mentioned a guide for what the transport should look like including dimensions. Check that out.
Dogs are very adaptable. You can try crating them for 5 mins at a time and slowly increase the duration to 6 hours over 1-2 months. That should prepare them for the journey.
Thank you for sharing your information and rich video, I am going to fly with my 14 year old dog and I'm worried about her.Do they drug her?
For exporting her the required documents are as you mentioned. Are there any documents or requirements in Canada for entering?
Hey, no one is drugging your dog. It is entirely up to you. Some people give their dogs medication to calm them for the journey but it’s not mandatory. Check with your vet.
No other requirements for entering Canada.
What about total cost for this
Depending on the size of your dog, it can cost anywhere between 25-80k.
Hey, thank you for making such an informative video with spot on details. I am also planning to take along a cat when I move from India to Canada on PR. So I wanted to ask you about your journey of taking along your dog, is it when you too were moving to Canada for the first time, on a PR, or you already had a PR and came to India to take along your dog when you return to Canada?
Hello. Once you are in Canada do you need other requirements in owning a dog?
Not really. But there are hygiene requirements. Pick up after your pet. Make sure your dog is not dangerous to the community. Keep your dog on the leash at all times except when you are in a dog park. Get your pets vaccinated every year.
@@lockstockcanada8289 Thank you for this. Have a Wonderful stay in Canada. 🙂

There are some rules prohibiting pit bulls in Canada but I am not able to find the exact literature. Also, many airlines do not permit pit bulls on their flights which makes it very complicated.
Hello Sir…
Actually I want to bring my dog in Canada from India.

Do we need to inform the Canadian govt before hand that we will be bring a pet? Also what are the process to bring a cat?
The govt doesn’t need to know. Rules for cat are almost same. Except that since cats are lightweight, they can travel in a much smaller crate with you in the cabin.
Please check latest COVID rules for transport of animals.

Hi, great video brother.i am planning to travel to canada with my lab next year. I had travelled to us so aware of the procedures. My challenge is how to find a pet friendly apartment there from india? Is it possible?
It is challenging for sure. Best bet is to move into basement accommodations. Once you get a job you can move into pet friendly apartments.
Hello, I am also planning to take my golden retriever to Canada with me. By the time I finish all my formalities and procedures, she will be 1 year old. I wanna know how do dogs adjust to new place and how much care do they require? As I will be looking for a job and it would require me to dedicate around 8 to 9 hrs a day to my job, how will my girl react to being alone all this time.
Great question Khushboo. We have a post that details what life in Canada looks like with your dog.
lockstockcanada.com/index.php/2019/12/02/life-in-canada-with-your-dog/
Dogs in general are very adaptable. But depending on the general temperament of your dog it requires patience. The first thing I would recommend is crate training your dog and training them to be by themselves in your absence. Start with 30 mins and slowly extend that to 4 hours for an 8 month old dog. The older the dog gets the more time you can let them be by themselves. Puppies require more engagement.
We usually leave Maya in the house for sometimes upto 11 hours and she manages just fine. No barking. No whining and no destructive behaviour.
It’s also important that your dog’s toilet habit is set prior to you leaving them at home. This is a long journey but very much trainable.
@@lockstockcanada8289 Thanks for your revert. Want to know another thing. Are pets allowed in AirBnb's in Canada ? As we are not sure which province we will be landing in and our main challenge would be finding a home in Canada. Are there any tips that we can follow ? Are there any places we can accomodate our pet while we search for a home ?
Many AirBnbs are pet friendly. Soon after landing , if you do not have a job in hand (like intra company transfers) then look for basement accommodations that accept pets. Temporarily live there till you have a job and then move to a pet friendly apartment.
Thanks a lot, I needed this information desperately
Hi! This was so helpful! There is really a dearth of information on this topic. We aim to soon start crate-training our dog. I had one question about the day-to-day life after. Are there any laws or annual charges for licensing or registering your pet in Canada? Also, is it okay to leave your pet behind while you are at work.
Hi Shruthi, it’s ok to leave your pet at home while at work, as long as they aren’t destructive or excessively barking such that the neighbours end up complaining.
There is licensing requirements but no one really follows it. So wouldn’t be too fussed about it. You will however have to make sure your pet is up to date on their vaccines each year.

Thank you for the wonderful content. I have a 2 year old maltese puppy who weighs about 4kgs. Do you suggest taking her in cabin along with us or putting her for check in. Considering we also have an infant travelling with us we are so confused. Also do we require a dog passport?
Hi Meghana, if your dogs weight is within the prescribed limits for in-cabin transport, then I urge you to bring her in the cabin itself. It’s going to be difficult with an infant around, but having your pet close to you is better than having them spend 18 hours in the cargo hold.
