I've had a tsa person yell at me for having my dog out, even though 10 feet from where I stood I was going to have to take him out to walk through security check. It just depends on who is working that day. In my carry on, I try to carry stuff that I need for the trip for my dog and check my own things because my items are easier to replace. An empty collapsible water dish is handy for when you arrive at the destination airport to give the dog a drink, and pop up crates/tents fit great in carry on bags. I do always get a health certificate from my vet every time I fly, but I've never once been asked to see it. The best story I have about flying with my dog is when we landed I carefully picked up my dog carrier and put it in my lap. An older lady sitting next to me was surprised that I had a dog in there. She said she thought I was talking to myself throughout the flight! LOL!
PLEASE HELP!!! I too have the Sturdi Bag that I will be using for the first time on Feb. 3, 2021. I am moving and purchased the bag 3 months ago for my 5yr old Maltese Cocker Spaniel. I also purchased the K9 Sport Sack to carry my dog on my back instead of by hand, on my arm, or pulling. We are flying Delta. My dog is used to the crate/kennel but he whines A LOT when we get in a moving vehicle. When I had my car, I had seatbelts for my dog so he was never boxed in (I like for my dog to be as free as possible). I consulted with his vet, received meds for him and did a test run in an Uber to my mother’s house. As my dog was a little woozy, he still managed to whine in the Uber until I took him out of the bag. My dog is an ESA dog however, as of Jan. 11,2021 ESAs are no longer recognized on flights. I say all of that to ask...how do I get my dog to stop whining while crated to avoid disrupting other passengers????
I have a question I have a 100 pound Service dog now he’s a service dog and she can’t fit into a carrier. He needs to be with us in the plane and he’s a fairly big dog do you think he could fit in the leg area
@@Navi405 its been a bit so you've probably already gotten an answer, but a border collie most likely wouldn't be able to fit under the seat in front of you. Most airlines require the crate to be no larger that 18×11×11ish and that's barely enough room for my 20lb chihuahua mix. It's also very hard to find carriers that meet those dementions that can hold more than 15 or 20 lbs
Great advice! I am taking a trip with my dog for the first time this summer. You’re right, Delta says call to book for your pet. I tried to call twice to book last week and each time the hold times were 7 & 9 hours!
Thank you for all the tips! It is helpful to be prepared! I've flown many times with my Chi-mix. The best thing I can do to keep her calm, is to remain calm myself. She picks up on when my breathing or expression changes. It reminds me to calm down & breathe deeper. Also, I unzip the carrier top slightly, so she knows she isn't trapped. She is fine as long as she maintains some eye contact with me. They love to be with their peeps!
Another training tip- once you land and get your luggage you may want to attach your pup’s container to your luggage (like you would a carry on bag) and roll. Practice that at home, and going up the street with all the vibration that concrete/asphalt creates as you roll.
This was all the information I wanted to know that other videos leave out. Thank you so much! I’ve been avoiding travel with my new puppy, but this makes me feel much more confident about it.
Did lots of research about traveling with dogs but yours did the best on how to prep your pup and details on actually traveling with him. Thanks so much!!
We're planning to take our small on a plane flight in July. We've been taking her to the airport to walk around before TSA to get used to the the sounds and all the people. She now gets excited when she sees the airport, because she likes being there.
I am so nervous to travel with my 15lb Bichon for the 1st time. Loved all the detailed tips that was provided in this video. I already started implementing them and starting to feel a little at ease! Thank you so much!
I know you posted this a couple years ago but OMG how helpful 😊 I also live here in Phoenix and will be traveling back to my hometown in a week to pick up my new baby pup. Thank you so much for all of the info! 😊
I appreciate your post! I will rewatch it again and take good notes. My only comment is that I fed my dog a tendon and she loved it! BUT I thought she has been eating enough so I took the tendon away from her and discovered that she had swallowed the tendon and I pulled it out of her throat. I think its a great long time treat, but I would not recommend letting them eat it without supervision.
What is the size and weight of you dog? Moving to Hawaii soon and am trying to do as much research as I can to keep my fur baby safe! Thank you so much!!
Now he's 25 pounds and too tall to get in the carrier. Then he was 15 pounds I think. We do not ever want to put ours in the belly of the plane per my husband. But if they're chill from just a little bit of drugs, maybe they won't mind. Best wishes to y'all! Thank you for watching!
Thank you sooooo much. I am flying to Phoenix in a week & my original plan was to take my dog and then I started getting anxiety. This really helped. I pray that all goes well because my plan is to take him. He is extremely calm and he is used to being around people. Hopefully that will help. He has been riding in a vehicle daily for 8 years.
Wow this is been unbelievably so helpful. I've been super nervous because I'm a first time dog owner and I'm taking my little Chihuahua across the country. Every single tip that you said was treasure. I really appreciate this
Great video. My daughter is traveling with her dog for the first time, and this is extremely helpful. I will share with her. 🐕 😃 ✈️. Thank you for sharing!
Woohoo star sticker!!! Thanks Susan. I'm so happy for y'all. We need to find a pet sitter soon so we can travel more often. Sadly he's now too big I think to go under the seat. Thanks for watching!
TravelTipsbyLaurie I wish I could take my schnoodle with me. He’s so friendly and loves traveling. Since I. Headed overseas, it won’t happen this trip. When our two stay home, it’s usually with a family member or close friend. Hope you’re able to find a sitter for Ollie soon!
Great tips. I am not traveling with my pet, but I did want to say your tips are soooo helpful. I took my first flight ever in November. I also had to make connections in 2 major airports both ways. Traveling alone, first flight was easy because of all of your videos I watched. When I was unsure of anything I just thought what did Laurie suggest. Boom easy peasy. Now I can not wait to fly again. Knowledge is power and your tips empowered me. Thank you and Happy New Year!
I think in America ESAS (or pets) can’t fly with you. They have to be put in the back of the plane in a kennel. But you did your research and this is only what I have heard on the news. Don’t take advice from me!
thank you for this video because I have been trying to convince my dad to travel with my dog but his excuse is he don't know how to book for the dog to go on the plane but when i show him this video he I will be able to travel with my dog thank you but we are not gonna travel not because of the pandemic maybe in 2021 for summer
I found your video to be very, very interesting; but the amount of details going into taking a pet on the plane would overwhelm me 😊 My little Chihuahua stays with a sitter we found on Rover, and it helps us to be free to travel. We don’t fly much and he travels great in the car, but he doesn’t like being away from home and wants to be glued to us all the time. He’s used to his sitter now, and we all do better that way.
Very useful your tips thank you. What you didn't mention was to keep the dogs as I did hydrated obviously not to push water too much as they'll wee wee but enough. When they have chew sticks they will get thirsty which will lead to a headache if they are dehydrated. I also take mine on the aeroplane and her first flight was also 4mths. Thanks for sharing.
I’d also ask about benedryl dosing for your size dog. If you travel from say, a heavily forested area to say, a desert; the dog may have unknown allergies to the environment. And maybe bring some blister packs of allergy meds just in case someone sitting near you is allergic to dander and no one is willing to trade seats.
Our dog loves traveling in my truck or wife’s SUV. We are planning a trip to Las Vegas around Christmas and this will be first airline travel. Thank you for the information.
I’m moving and living by myself but I have to fly to get my dog back as he was being cared for by my parents while I was in college and I am so nervous 😬 He’s never flown before so I really hope it goes well 👍🏼
Oh, awesome! Ours was not comfortable walking through the airport, so we just carried him and walked slowly. He was in the carrier and 19 pounds ugh. Hope it goes smoothly. Thanks for watching!
Hi, in 2018 my kids and me traveled to Italy with two cats!! A great guy/vet told them exactly how to deal with the “emigration”, with getting the pets used to the cages, plus eating a “relaxing” cat food 2 weeks before. Also he suggested that having a familiar-smelly item (an old t-shirt...) inside the bags would help. Very interesting to know that a cat can live without food or water for three days, so 13 hours on the plane was not the biggest deal.
Wow, I never knew that. We asked for a private screening room for our cat when we moved to Houston. I love the idea of a stuffed animal or shirt too. Thanks for watching!
I have not traveled on a plane with a pet but I have an awesome carrier by PetsFit and it is sold on Amazon. Mine has on the side two wings that fold out like a pup tent for when you are sitting and waiting so your pet can stretch out a little. When your ready you fold the wings back in and zip them up. There is also the material on the side so you can slip it securely over the carry on handle when it is extended. My bag fits exactly on top of the carry on bag to and it is the size requirement the airlines require as well. There is a really size pocket on the back to. I hope this helps.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I’m very nervous Laurie as I’ve never taken her on a trip before she’s a cav King Charles and 6 years old my world 🌎 and thinking of seeing my sis for Christmas 🎄
@@stephanieacierno2584 The best thing ever is the low dose medicine my vet prescribed. It does NOT make them comatose; it will just help her be super chill when she has to be in the carrier for the flight.
Thanks for all of the super helpful tips. We are bringing a new puppy home in October and your video provided a lot of extra things that I wouldn't have thought about. I am buying a carrier, per another video's suggestion, called Mr. Peanuts. I really like so many aspects of this carrier and feel it will be the best for traveling with our new pup!
If it is domestic flight in United you can definitely book your pet online but if it is International flt you need to call. Since there's a connection flt
Thanks for your tips! I booked a roundtrip to Europe before I knew I was going to have to take my dog. Three trustedhousesitters backed out due to getting bigger places to sitt at, so he is coming. Luckily, I took him on his first ride a year ago and the flights were only an hour, and he is pretty smart, so he was napping on the way back. Now, the flight over is broken up in Canada, so he won't be on the plane for more than 5 hours on the way, but on the way back we have a 12-hour flight! He uses potty pads, and I plan on taking him to the restroom, but I am nervous for sure. I plan on going back and forth to Europe frequently now, so he has to get used to it, so wish me luck! I am nervous.
This video is so helpful! Thank you so much. After some research I decided to buy the Elitefield carrier. We're flying internationally and yes, I can't help but to think about how it will go. I gonna buy the chewing stuff
Try traveling with 2 cats! I moved from Virginia to Florida a few years ago. Had to have my sister fly up and back with me to handle one of the cats. I was scared my cats would surpass the weight restrictions (they just squeaked by). I was really petrified about having to take them out of their carrier and take their collars off. Can you imagine if a cat gets lose in an airport ? Fortunately everything worked out ok and they were little angels in the plane.
Barbara, same for us when we moved to Houston; but then I read you can request a private screening room. Did you hear about the hairless cat that got loose a few years ago? I would think I'd never see ours again if that happened. But they found him. Thanks for watching!
Thought I would give an update that might put some cat-travelers at ease. Two weeks ago I flew to SLC (round trip, in one day🥴) to pick up my son’s cat (long story). I downloaded the TSA app as well as the app for my airline. I had lots of questions that seemed to multiply as the trip got closer - it was sooooo easy to chat (plus, I took screen shots of my Q&A’s in case I needed to reference them)! I was about as informed as I could be. At TSA, I requested a private screening. Now, granted, my experience at SLC (Salt Lake City) may not be an example of all airports, but going through TSA was a breeze! I won’t go into details, but to say that it was a very positive experience. The only issue - the poor TSA agent who had to screen my backpack….. I packed a zip-lock of kitty litter, and yes, because it was a “powder” it had to be swabbed. Poor guy….but he had a wonderful attitude❣️ One thing to keep in mind, traveling with pets…… My airline counted the pet carrier as my “carry-on” item, so I had to check my roller bag. That meant I had to carry a 20# cat (cat plus carrier) through the airport rather than use my carry-on as a trolly. That was brutal, as the new SLC airport requires a lot of walking! I had tight connections, so had to hustle.
Happy new year. Good tips. Yiu hear awful travel accidents with dogs on flights. My dog is close to 50 lbs so he wont be able to go in the cabin and I dont trust airlines to safely transport him below.
I hate to be a kill joy, bc I know people love their fur babies, but I for one am very allergic and I feel awful when I arrive at my destination when there has been a pet in the cabin...I inevitably get sat in close proximity. My respiratory system, sinuses, throat and eyes itch... it's miserable. Just want you to know the other side. This is not a ding on you, Laurie, I love your channel, you've made me a better traveler! Happy New Year!
Oh, how I feel for you. They're everywhere. I also feel for those who are allergic to perfumes/deodorants/hair sprays. Thank you for your support. At least you're not allergic to bread dough or pasta lol.
I feel the same. Trained service assistance animals is one thing, but the skies are being turned into one huge pet park. Poop/pee accidents on the airport floors and in planes, pet dander being recirculated in the cabin, incessant barking /howling, etc. Why people can't use kennels, pet sitting services, Rover app, etc is beyond me.
Hi. When ordering your flight you should inform your flight about your allergies. Usually that will lead to no pets allowed on that plain. Or pets will have to be on the other side of the plain.
@@hela8215 Service animals will still be allowed on the plane. Airlines aren't allowed to bump disabled people just because of their medical equipment. The airline can seat the person with the allergy at a distance, however.
I missed seeing your videos--welcome back! Question--when you said you have to take off the dog's harness and collar and walk him through the security area, how did you keep him from not staying with you, or is it a very short time period? My dog has never been on a plane and is 13. How much does your dog weigh? Mine is 15 lbs. I think it's so much easier to train them when they're puppies to be in a carrier than start with an older dog. We leave ours with my son for a short vacation, otherwise we drive. Love this video and your puppy is adorable!
I really don't want to do it again because he was so heavy lol. He was 15 so maybe 20 lbs at full size? I'm looking into the Rover app for doggie sitting while we travel. Some let you leave them at their house. Thanks for watching!
TravelTipsbyLaurie The rover app is great. We have a dog sitter we use all the time. She loves him and lets him sleep on her bed. Our dog is used to going there and gets to play with the other dogs, so it’s kind of like doggy camp for him.
You do not have to take your dog's gear off, but if you choose to leave it on, the dog will get a pat-down (in US and Europe) or visual inspection (in Canada).
We bought two Sherpa carriers for our maltipoo- one medium and one large- she fits more comfortably in the large. I am having trouble FOLDING the medium one for return… can anyone advise me on how they fold their carrier for storage or packing? In addition, Delta recommends the medium, but, again, the large is definitely better~ with only 1 inch difference in measurements, would you think I’ll encounter a problem with boarding? Thank you- flying with our precious pets is certainly a daunting pursuit! 🤷🏼♀️🥹
When you flew with your pup, do you know how tall he was and how well did he fit in his crate? My pup is 18 weeks old and only 8.5 lbs but she is tall (13” at the shoulders) so I worry she won’t fit/won’t be comfortable.
You can always get one on Amazon or Pet Smart, test her standing in it by throwing treats near the back. Then return if she does not fit. She'll mostly be laying down in it. I took a break from comments last week. Now I'm back. Thank you for watching! My dog was 20 lbs when we went, but he's short.
Awww get there in time to try a couple of relief stations in case he does not use it the first time your try. Or make time to go back and try it again if he is too nervous the first time. Have fun!
Good to see you back Laurie! Your puppy is adorable! Really good information! I had no idea there was so much to bringing your pet along on a trip! Happy New Year!
Alaska requires you to book a ticket then call to confirm pet in cabin. Only 5 animals are allowed on each flight. Flying with my puppy, no prep time with carrier from breeder.
Love all your tips thanks for another great video! An unrelated comment...please watch your dog carefully when he's enjoying those pigs ears or rawhide treats... Unfortunately I learned the hard way but they can be a choking hazard for dogs. A little baby is such a cutie pie ❤️
I need help! I am flying Delta and the dimensions they are requiring are 14x12x8.5 and I cant seem to find a soft kennel this size, can anyone recommend where I can find one this size?
I don’t know about Delta, but for American Airlines, they say (and you can’t speed-read or you’ll miss it) that the size listed is for a hard-sided carrier. Because a soft-sided carrier can compress, those dimensions don’t have to be the same. Basically, I think what they are saying is that the dimensions listed are the actual dimensions of the under seat space.
Ok so I know that not many people mean harm by letting their dogs out by the gate, but my Service dog was almost attacked by another dog at an airport gate. 😊💛✨
I've never traveled with a pet so am totally ignorant about it. In your travel tip #10 you said to pack few items in your personal item bag because less leg room." It looked like a backpack so couldn't you put it in overhead storage bins rather than at your feet? Thank you so much for your very helpful video (I now have a small-ish dog--17 lbs--and if I want to go anywhere I'll need to take her with me so I'm gathering all the info I can find.
Update: My dog has all of his shots but now my question is are their any things I should practice with him before we go on the plane? And he is kind of big because he is a 6 month old Aussie so I don’t know if I would be able to bring him in the cabin.
I would also recommend taking them to a car wash regularly to get them used to the scary sounds.
I wish you'd shared this tip a year earlier. Brilliant. Thank you for watching!

- getting him used to all kinds of noises, e.g. jet/turbo engines starting up, plane taking off, PA announcements, sounds of a busy airport, sounds of people going through security) by playing sounds from UA-cam over speaker at increasing volume
- withhold food and water before the flight.
- bring an extra empty water bottle for your dog that you can fill up after going through security as well as a collapsible water bowl; ice cubes are another option
- bring high-value treats (make sure he’s used to them to prevent stomach upset)

- bring his favourite toy (non squeaky or silent squeaker), a chew stick (non-smelly)
- bring paper towels, wipes, disposable gloves, potty pads in a Ziploc bag to clean up in case of an accident
- talk to your vet about giving him something to prevent an upset tummy

Thank you for all the tips! It is helpful to be prepared! I've flown many times with my Chi-mix. The best thing I can do to keep her calm, is to remain calm myself. She picks up on when my breathing or expression changes. It reminds me to calm down & breathe deeper. Also, I unzip the carrier top slightly, so she knows she isn't trapped. She is fine as long as she maintains some eye contact with me. They love to be with their peeps!
That’s so wonderful Wanda! She sounds like a sweet dog for the airplane💕
Another training tip- once you land and get your luggage you may want to attach your pup’s container to your luggage (like you would a carry on bag) and roll. Practice that at home, and going up the street with all the vibration that concrete/asphalt creates as you roll.
What a great idea!!
This was all the information I wanted to know that other videos leave out. Thank you so much! I’ve been avoiding travel with my new puppy, but this makes me feel much more confident about it.
I'm so glad! Thank you for watching!
Did lots of research about traveling with dogs but yours did the best on how to prep your pup and details on actually traveling with him. Thanks so much!!
Oh my word that made my day! Thanks for watching.
Very helpful. Thank you for your tips.
Thank you so much. I travel all the time. First time I will be going with my beloved. So kind of you. Very thorough. Really appreciate it.
Thanks!
We're planning to take our small on a plane flight in July. We've been taking her to the airport to walk around before TSA to get used to the the sounds and all the people. She now gets excited when she sees the airport, because she likes being there.
Awwwww that's so smart! I would do that too if we could do this again.
I am so nervous to travel with my 15lb Bichon for the 1st time. Loved all the detailed tips that was provided in this video. I already started implementing them and starting to feel a little at ease! Thank you so much!
It’ll go great. Highly recommend prescription meds to help him feel chilled out.
Hey! How did it go? I’m planning on flying with my Bichon in about a month because of work. I’m nervous. He’s about 15.4 pounds.
I know you posted this a couple years ago but OMG how helpful 😊
I also live here in Phoenix and will be traveling back to my hometown in a week to pick up my new baby pup. Thank you so much for all of the info! 😊
Eeeeeek have so much fun! Loved watching videos about how to train puppies. Whew it was awful tiring though
This is helpful for when I take my dog to see my aunt and uncle and grandma in Florida
Thanks for sharing! Great tip.
This actually helped because I wasn’t sure on some of the airlines rules with having your pet plus wanting to have carry-on thank you for this video
Awwww it's going to be great.
Wow this is been unbelievably so helpful. I've been super nervous because I'm a first time dog owner and I'm taking my little Chihuahua across the country. Every single tip that you said was treasure. I really appreciate this
Oh I'm so glad! That was ours too. Your vet will help so much!
Great video. My daughter is traveling with her dog for the first time, and this is extremely helpful. I will share with her. 🐕 😃 ✈️. Thank you for sharing!
Oh, I'm so glad. Thank you for sharing and merry Christmas!
Great job of helping out a first time pet traveler. Thankyou mucho!
De nada! But check your airline's rules for updated Info.
You’re back!! I’ve missed your videos, especially as I’m getting ready to make along haul flight and you have the best info on UA-cam!
Welcome back! Great tips! I love Zak George, too!
He's so darn nice too! I have his book. Watched a ton of his videos prior to puppy. Thanks for watching!
Really helpful! I’m really gonna follow these tips!!! Thank you
So glad! Thank you for watching.
im bringing my new puppy home from florida to los angeles on a plane, this will hopefully help make it an easier flight
I'm so glad to know this Patty! Thank you from the bottom of my personal item bag!
Such a cute and well-behaved puppy! Congrats!
Thank you!! 😊 He's now almost 1.5 years old! So. Much. Easier.
Thank you so much for this advice. Flying with Caesar, a Yorkie, for the first time to AZ. I am nervous since he’s a barker. Again, thank you.
I think in America ESAS (or pets) can’t fly with you. They have to be put in the back of the plane in a kennel. But you did your research and this is only what I have heard on the news. Don’t take advice from me!
How did it go?????
Good luck!! I don't know how I missed this comment. Sorry for the delay. How did it go?
thank you for this video because I have been trying to convince my dad to travel with my dog but his excuse is he don't know how to book for the dog to go on the plane but when i show him this video he I will be able to travel with my dog thank you
but we are not gonna travel not because of the pandemic maybe in 2021 for summer
Have fun planning his airport outfit lol. Just google your airline and pet policy, and you'll get all the facts. Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Very helpful tips. I’m travelling in a few weeks for the first time with my dog to Italy
I hope it goes well, and I am sure it will.
We're trying out Rover so we can travel for a week sometimes. Thanks for watching!
Such a cute puppy & thank you for the great advice. Happy New Year Laurie!!
Greetings from South Africa
Hi again! Thanks for watching! Have a lovely day and year!
Thank you, very informative, will try your suggestion on leaving travel case in familiar area, see if it works.
I give my service dog ice cubes to lick.
Ooh I love that idea. And like a baby, test it out before you fly. For our human baby it made him totally hyper. Thanks for watching!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Benedryl made my son hyper. He had a lot of allergies.
Our dog loves traveling in my truck or wife’s SUV. We are planning a trip to Las Vegas around Christmas and this will be first airline travel. Thank you for the information.
Oh, awesome!! Have such a great time; perfect weather time to visit LV. Thanks for watching!!
thanks so much for the advice im getting a dog soon and i travel a lot so i needed this i was freaking out thank u! ❤️
I'm so glad! Have so much fun!! Aullie is now a year and a half old and is so much fun!! Thanks for watching.
Goodness thank you for this video I am flying United and I had no idea where to start
Glad I could help! Let me know if you think of a tip once you do it. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for taking the time and sharing with us all this great tips
Thanks for watching!
sherpa bag is my absolute favorite! i treid a few and i study abroad so we fly a lot :)
Oh how amazing that would be! I'll look for it and link it. Thanks KT and thanks for watching!
Omg , he’s soo cute and everything is helpful !!!!!☺️
Glad you think so! Have a fun trip!
Thanks for sharing and have fun! You can sleep 5 years from now😂
Super helpful and super sweet. My video time seeing one of ur videos, I’m less than half way through and I’m already liking and subscribing🤗💕
Awesome! Thank you! Hope the tips help. I have several playlists, but most of them are in the Travel Tips playlist. Thanks again for watching!
It’s amazing how long they can hold it as they get older. Sounds like he will do well again.
Thank you!! Your video is just the perfect information i need. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful! Be sure to see what your airline requires. Thanks for watching!
This video is so helpful! Thank you so much. After some research I decided to buy the Elitefield carrier. We're flying internationally and yes, I can't help but to think about how it will go. I gonna buy the chewing stuff
I'm so glad it has helped. That carrier looks amazing. Mine did not want any of the chews or treats I brought, but you never know. Have a great time!!
Always such great tips and general information!!! Thank you!!! And so glad Oliver has joined the family!!!💙
Hi! We are too! That puppy stage is exhausting though. I'm too old! But he's so good. Thanks for your support!
Laurie, you are delightfully knowledgeable! This is extremely thorough. Thanks for your invaluable help. 💛👍🏼
P.S., you sound like a Texan!
Traveling with my one year old frenchie next week and am VERY nervous. Wish us luck and thank you for this!!!
Have fun! She will be so cute. Thank you for watching.
I am traveling with my 3 yr old chi mix, and I'm nervous about the whole thing.. thank you for the tips.
I hope it goes smoothly!!
Poor guy….but he had a wonderful attitude❣️
One thing to keep in mind, traveling with pets…… My airline counted the pet carrier as my “carry-on” item, so I had to check my roller bag. That meant I had to carry a 20# cat (cat plus carrier) through the airport rather than use my carry-on as a trolly. That was brutal, as the new SLC airport requires a lot of walking! I had tight connections, so had to hustle.
Ooh I bet that was wonderful. Yes, we also have to check our airline for pet requirements too. Thanks. Sorry for the delay.
Very useful. I am flying with my 2 cavaliers for the first time in 3 weeks 😮❤
How did it go??
Yes, great vid. I needed this information. Happy New Year!!!
Oh yay! Happy New Year to you too! Thanks for watching!
She is so pleasant thank you for the tips
Happy new year. Good tips. Yiu hear awful travel accidents with dogs on flights. My dog is close to 50 lbs so he wont be able to go in the cabin and I dont trust airlines to safely transport him below.
Sue, we do not trust them to do that either. Our dog will not fly in the cargo area ever. Hug your 50 lb sweetie for us. Thanks for watching!
Happy Beginnings 2020! Thank you for the tips. As always extremely good! Be safe and take care. Love ❤️ your Aussie!
He's a sweetie! Thanks Carmen.
Extremely helpful as I prepare to pick up my puppy 🙏🏾
Best of luck!
Thank you! Flying soon with a brand new pup. Super helpful.
I hope you have a snuggly good time! Thanks for watching.

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Live and learn.
You do not have to take your dog's gear off, but if you choose to leave it on, the dog will get a pat-down (in US and Europe) or visual inspection (in Canada).
Amazing information! Thanks so much💕 i feel you answered all my questions! Thanks for being so detailed and informative
Sorry for the delay.
Such a helpful video... going to be traveling with my puppy in a week and you’ve given many useful tips.
Yay! Take pics to look back on. Let me know if you think of a new tip.
best advice!! and at the end, be kind to yourself. true that!!
Yay! Thanks for watching.
Very helpful moving me and my dog to New York in April
Hope it goes smoothly! Thanks for watching!
Laurie, honey! I love this! Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video! I’m traveling with my puppy to India from the US, and you can say I am PETrified lol this really helped
Hey Deborah! Now that I have done it once, I can easily do it again if our puppy was smaller ha. Happy New Year!
TravelTipsbyLaurie ❤️
I got a carrier that’s a little bit bigger,I called delta and they said it was fine ,as long as it fits under the seat.
Yay!! I would agree.
Alaska requires you to book a ticket then call to confirm pet in cabin. Only 5 animals are allowed on each flight.
Flying with my puppy, no prep time with carrier from breeder.
Love your little carrier by the way ☺️🥰
Thank you; it's from when we brought our cat to Texas. Thanks for watching.
Love all your tips thanks for another great video! An unrelated comment...please watch your dog carefully when he's enjoying those pigs ears or rawhide treats... Unfortunately I learned the hard way but they can be a choking hazard for dogs. A little baby is such a cutie pie ❤️
I don't know how I missed this comment. Sorry for the delay.
Thank you so much for the tips. Mi going to be flying whit my dog in the cabin for the first time . Miami to Argentina.
Wonderful!
Cute pup.. never heard of that mix.
Thanks! He's so darn cute and has a bright blue eye and a bright blue/green one. Thanks for watching!
I need help! I am flying Delta and the dimensions they are requiring are 14x12x8.5 and I cant seem to find a soft kennel this size, can anyone recommend where I can find one this size?
That does not sound like the correct size. Sorry I cannot help. What about etsy?
I don’t know about Delta, but for American Airlines, they say (and you can’t speed-read or you’ll miss it) that the size listed is for a hard-sided carrier. Because a soft-sided carrier can compress, those dimensions don’t have to be the same. Basically, I think what they are saying is that the dimensions listed are the actual dimensions of the under seat space.
Ok so I know that not many people mean harm by letting their dogs out by the gate, but my Service dog was almost attacked by another dog at an airport gate. 😊💛✨
Oh I would've been so mad. Thank you for watching!
This happened to me multiple times
My favourite tip is the ziplock bag. LOL Great video!
Thank you!
Great tips. And a pretty puppy. Happy New Year! Greetings from Germany
Guten tag! Thanks for watching!
Im traveling with a 32lbs doodle! Not sure how he will fit under the chair but we were told up to 40lbs is good!
Oh wow! I can't believe that heavy will be fine. Maybe he's short? Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Update: My dog has all of his shots but now my question is are their any things I should practice with him before we go on the plane? And he is kind of big because he is a 6 month old Aussie so I don’t know if I would be able to bring him in the cabin.
Oh how cute!! We have an aussiedoodle. I would google your airline and pets in cabin. Thank you for watching!
