I have never played a heart of iron 4 game but if he joins the AXIS as USA wont that give the axis a very powerful advantage since it has one of the world's millitary powerhouses? Or was america's Military weaker in 1936? Because the way i see it the game will be very easy for Drew.
America was very powerful economically, however its military was actually quite weak, and America followed 'Isolationism' which meant that they refused to engage in European and Global politics, and during the great depression, they were okay, but had nobody to trade with as everyone was poor/struggling.

It was isolationist and had a pitiful army but its economy (even during the depression) was the most powerful one in the world. The US economically destroyed the Japanese even before formal war began, signaling the amount of power the US wielded. It became the most powerful nation on earth militarily around 1943-44. It's even more powerful competitively now since during the 50's, the soviets were an effective counterweight, but now there are no soviets, leaving the US alone with superpower status. China couldn't feasibly catch up for about another 50-75 years because they don't have a mil-industrial complex, and likely they don't want to have one, leaving the US likely to maintain dominance throughout the 21st century.

One time as the Reich I boosted support for my party in the US and succeeded in changing it to Fascism but the US was already at war with me so the Reich was actually at war with the fascist uSA. They beat the Reich.
the right tree is pretty useful, just dont choose the one that triggers the civil wars, do the others, its how i got a foothold in south america, one gives you a reason to war venezuela, others let you boost party popularity in other countries which is very useful for starting civil wars
I found this guide useful when playing with the Monarchy mod. The popularity gain was definitely faster but still fun to try out. All hail His Majesty Franklin Roosevelt! Lol

The one time I played as axis america i took out canada and by the time i finished with that (I was a noob at the time) germany had already basically lost like dday had happened and they were being pushed back ... it was sad

I LOVE playing as Democratic USA. Am I the only one? The fact that you can just sit back until at least 40 or 41 and just build up to ridiculous strength and join the war with no threat of anybody invading you... I love it.
you can have elections, coups or civil war depending on the situation ts best to have the election and with that better to go with the younger generations because you will get more support and get the country isntantly pretty much
You can flip major countries without a civil war. I did it a few days ago with Great Britain. Also, why are you saying you don't want to grab up national focuses after WPA? It doesn't cost anything to do it lol
If he needed his political power for other things then national focuses might not be something you'd want to pursue given that the USA has a horrible power generation rate before the end of the Great Depression.
idk if it was the difficulty i was on, recruit, but i had the peaceful coup, i just tried to choose the options in events where it seemed like it would increase support, then support got high enough, but I do know Ireland had a peaceful fascist coup as well, i boosted fascist support and when it got high enough it flipped, for the soviets and brits i supported rebellions, the fascist UK rebellion got stomped immediately, but the ussr one triggered right when they declared on Japan starting WWIII during WWII, basically the comintern vs the axis while the axis where crushing the allies, and that rebellion is doing very well and is now part of the axis PS: I chose younger generation, that seemed to be less likely for rebellion to me, seemed like more people would want fascism that way
well the two most overpowered countries joining forces... axis becomes broken with america's industrial machine and especially the reasorces. now germanuy can make as many tanks and planes as they like.
Would it be possible to do this: 1. Turn the USA fascist 2. Annex the Americas INCLUDING Canada and all European possessions 3. Make peace with the Allies 4. Turn the USA democratic 5. Join the Allies ? I'm going to try to find out.

US is op as fuck, if this series goes for long, please make shure to backstab the axis and at least conquer Germany and Japan.
Btw, radar isn't worth if you are not using a lot of small units. If you like large armies, radar is not worth
