Hobgoblin is sooooo good. I’m from the US and it’s imported here, I just tried it for the first time last week and it is now my favorite beer ever! Thank you England.
Lucky you. I can’t find a single import where i live
I have not seen a single one from this list where I live in the United States. I will have to travel abroad to try them. I have had a few English ales. Samuel Smith's Nut Ale, and a few other craft ales. I had one years ago that was a banana bread beer that came from England.
I'm so thirsty I'm ready for a pint of Old Peculiar. ..or two or three.
'Yes Gov, I'll have a Pint of Tetley, a packet of Ready Salted and WHO BROUGHT THOSE KIDS IN HERE?!'
Too right.
No Trooper beer? Up the irons
WTF - where is Timothy Taylors Landlord - totally typical brit beer?
AGREED!
London Pride and Old Speckled Hen is available here in Sweden (we have to buy strong beer in state controlled monopoly stores). I really love them both. I also bought Hobgoblin in a food store. It was good, but due to Swedish regulation, the amount of alcohol was only 3.5% by volume. I guess the original beer is stronger? Usually I prefer lager, but British ale can be quite delicious.
Im an aussie and love Australian beers but whenever i get the chance i love a good pint of bombardier london pride or newkie brown! All great English beers!! Also love to drink myself silly on Guinness haha😂
For anyone wondering about the footage of the festival used in Hobgoblin's advertising - that's the Bloodstock Open Air festival held in Catton Park in Walton-On-Trent, Derbyshire. It proudly boasts that it's the "UK's largest independent metal festival", and works closely with Hobgoblin in its Metal 2 The Masses initiative, a national competition for unsigned metal bands to win a chance to play at Bloodstock on the aptly-named Hobgoblin New Blood stage.
And in pretty much every bar that isn't tied to a specific alcoholic beverage (such as the Kraken or Jaegermeister tents), there's always Hobgoblin available.
Hobgoblin is good, but it's gone down in quality since Marston's got their grubby hands on Wychwood
So true. It's a shadow of its earlier self.
Tottally agree
I love a pint of John Smith's
I'm glad you put Old Speckled Hen on. It was brewed in my local town until the late 90's. If I want Ale it's my go to Ale. At 5% it packs a punch.
They do Old Golden Hen and Old Crafty Hen now as well.
I'm old
I've been through the 'few glasses of wine' stage and the odd G & T at the weekend phase, but I just keep coming back to beer.
“Lunatics broth!!” - Great description for a beer! 🍺
I really like Boddingtons and London Pride. Maybe one day soon I will finally make it to London.
In the 80s I spent a summer in Hounslow where there was a Fullers pub down the road from the house share. My favorite was Fullers ESB. Unfortunately, no longer available in the USA
I'd love to taste them. Thanks for the review. Greetings from Belgium.
Newcastle Brown used to be a great beer but since it was taken over by Heinekin and brewed by John Smiths, it's absolutely terrible. Doombar is nowhere near as good as it was now that Molson Coors own it.
Where Is Timothy Taylor?
I lived in England in 1980, and I remember Whitbread Ale, Watney's Red Barrel, Wadsworth 6x, Ansell's, Sheffield's Best Bitter, among others. They were great beers, but I think they have largely disappeared. I also liked Brains Best Butter brewed in Wales. Great beers.
Watney's Red Barrel, great? It was dreadful chemical muck! The rest were average to good though.
They need to a cinder top ten well I hope there do as I am proud to be British and let's that I love a lovely cinder so if there do make a top ten cinder video I will love to watch it keep up the amazing work watchmojo uk
where is ghost ship by adbams as a Scottish person brought whisky gs is an awesome ale goes well with chicken , fish and sweets
i think you mean adnams.lovely beer.
Hell yeah hobgoblin! witney makes some of the best beers in the world I study at the college in witney and so the brewery isn't far from where I am the smells that come from the brewery are amazing!
It’s damn tasty stuff. I was surprised to find it in a Mexican supermarket when I was on holiday. It’s deliciousness is spreading!!
Used to live down the road from sharps brewery. Crazy how popular it is seeing how small the brewery is.
Why is Doombar 10th???
It's my favourite one.
Love a hobgoblin, haven't had on in quite a while
Agree hob gob is georgus but my favourite is Pendle witches brew it's like gold dust in most parts of the uk
John Courage, Newcastle, Whitbreads and Bass Ale
Seriously, why the Alan Partridge clip while talking about London Pride? It's not a lager, and Alan Partridge fucking *hates* London.
my favourite english ale is courage's directors followed by old speckled hen and then st austell ,
This list is so wrong xD
I will agree it's a good list but it does need a bit of tweaking... I'm from the West country and grew up near the Wadworths brewery by the way, so a great beer is a way of life for me.
Sharp's Brewery is an excellent brewery. Doombar is by far their weakest one. My favourite is Atlantic, with Wolf Rock and Sea Fury beautiful beers as well. 👍🍻
obviously not written by someone from here :)
? he's british
Where are the Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish beers in this list?
IqbalM was deeply disappointed by the lack of Brewdog
Mac McJof I am English and I second this
They are not good enough for a to 10 list, as Scotland exports it's best, the welsh's is shitty toilet water and Guinness is too much of an acquired taste.
IqbalM I agree tenants should be on this list that is a good beer
Apparently England is the only country in the UK according to everyone outside of Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland 😒
Black Sheep is awesome, as is Trooper and I’m not just saying that as a Maiden fan
Expecting Tribute
Hobgoblin & ginger beard are an absolute delight. Also few others from that brewery are delicious. And from fuller's actually honey dew is my personal favorite. A pint of anyone in the list and I would be happy.
“British beers” you me and English they were all only from England
Have you tried looking at the other countries of the UK? Just change the channel to Watch Mojo England and be done with it?
Oh and it's pronounce Jai poor...
Exmoor ale and Hop Back summer lightening is the best beer around!
So, what's YOUR favourite then?
skinners cornish knocker.. omg soooooooo good
I quite likes Iron maidens trooper beer
while i don't drink, tribute, proper job and korev are really popular in the pub i work in
Doom Bar!
Tribute is good, also deuchars ipa
Fullers HSB and Honey Dew are my favourites
I impressed a guy I worked with by mentioning old peculiar!
You want an amazing taste? Newcastle drunk halfway up a mountain in winter. Had one once at Heavenly in Tahoe and I swear it tasted better then any Newcastle I'd ever drunk and I love Newcastle.
Toured UK a bit in December. Doom bar is superb. Welcome departure from our local lagers.
Honourable mention: Innis & Gunn!
Theakstons OP was my dad's favourite ale. I even have his old shirts with the LOGO on the front.
Its great for cooking, I use it with Pork on a sunday
British People (English People) love Heineken Beer
Hobgoblin made in Wolverhampton or was I went past Marstons Brewery on my way to College I know it as Banks's as does everyone in the West Midlands, the pub next to the brewery lists Wynchwood on it's list of Brewery companies on the facade of the building. A guy said that's all the ones that have been ruined by Marstons
Perfect example of how WatchMojo works; Come up with just about any kind of list, throw it at youtube, and see what sticks.
Stouts and porters for me!..... obviously seems I'm from Yorkshire.
Green King IPA? yum yum yum. Not forgetting Newton and Ridleys best bitter (joke)
Newcastle Brown Ale is the tops!
Abbots is my favourite speckled hen then hob goblin
Samuel Smith's is. #1
Their pubs are going down the plughole now.
Nooo, always decent.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May Loves to drink Beer
Defo some breweries sponsored this vid 😂 the fact there’s no Timothy Taylor’s landlord on here (most awarded uk ale and recognised as the best pale ale by most ale drinksrs) is a travesty
As an American with a slightly better taste than most of my fellow citizens, I mostly drink Dutch, German, Irish, and Belgian beers.
Beta beers
Weirdly the world health organization is not targeting alcohol advertising.
Newcastle is the equivalent of Budweiser! It’s even brewed in the states now. Get serious!
It's owned by Heineken which means it's automatically worse than Budweiser
Timothy turner
Newcastle Brown - I give up.
Newcastle is owned by Heineken now which means it's automatically worse than Budweiser
What no badger's
Would like to hear from an Englishman/ woman on their thought on the best English bitter. Not long ago most Americans would hv told you Budweiser( was the best), only becuz it is widely distributed as they spend millions on advertisement. Budweiser is horrible. So just becuz it is the most popular and widely distributed don’t mean a thing. I lived in England in the 80’s And fell in love with the English bitter ales , something you can not really get in America. Please give me your favorite English bitter now days. Cheers!
Shoutouts to Brains SA as well. Really nice easy drinking bitter
Do British people love Aochol
Why would Spitfire Ale be called the "Lager of Britain"? Ales and Lagers use different yeast and are definitely different types of Beer... 🤦🏻♂️
Where can I get this in America
I gave my dad a hobgoblin and he hated it, I was like wtf
Interesting
Robinson's/Iron Maiden's Trooper belongs there!
Everytime a southern fairy pulls a pint without a head, a puppy dies
I'm a southerner and if someone pulls a headless pint for me I just walk away and never return. ;)
Oh don't even. I work for an ***undisclosed family holiday resort company*** in Somerset (I'm a Yorkshireman) and the amount of people we get moaning about the head on their pint is ridiculous. For example, just the other day we poured someone a 4 pint pitcher with a 5% (Because by law any pint or pitcher has to have a 5% head) and the guy was like "what the fuck is that, fill it up, I run a pub, I never put a head on pints or pitchers". My team leader turned round and said: "Since you run a pub, you will know what License holders can do" He replies: "Yeah, anything, you having a fucking laugh?" TL responds: "Exactly, they can do anything and you're now being refused service, please leave the premises or we will have security escort you out" Customer: "You cant do that" TL: "We can, and we are. Maybe next time you should accept having a head on your beer"
I'm not even British, I'm from Canada, and if anyone pours me a beer with no head on it, I get pissed. Especially if it's an ale, porter, or stout. I rather drink directly from the bottle than have a poured beer with no head or head retention. That's why I love beers like Duvel, it's hard to pour a duvel and not get any head
Awww another deluded Northern twat.
The South like drinking the beer either in non branded Pint Glasses so Carling for example in a normal glass or plastic to despite the Companies own Glasses having the Widget to keep the head. Every pint in the south looks Watered down up North and in the Midlands it's a proper pint with a Head and refreshingness
So! Where is Tetley (without the "s") in this list?
ayy I live in Abingdon
King Goblin is epic
Clicked on this expecting Caledonian to be on there and was disappointed
Do British People love Aochol ?
Love to see Kernow beers on the list, 🟰🟰♥️
Newky brown should always be from the bottle
IncontrolgamingHD poured into a half pint glass which you keep topping up 😊
It has to be either Landlord or Hobgoblin.
Newcastle is the only one I've seen here
Can you now do a list of British beers?
I mean while i do love these English beers, i do like me some brains now and again and i notice its not on the list.. oh yeah.. because to watchmojo, UK is just England
Doombar ? - for fuck's sake.
where is carling
In the bin where it belongs
Carling is basically Budweiser but without the flavour.
😂😂😂
4:13, Jezza enjoying a pint of London Pride
That's James May
most brewdog beers
st peters beers
samuel smiths beers
clouwater beers
bishops finger
batemans
some on the video are actually pretty shitty and there are much better out there.
Parish - Baz's Bonce Blower, where art thou?
Question to Englishmen from a Scot, what the fuck actually is bitter? Never seen it in Scotland
Hobgoblin one of the best.
love doombar & hobgoblin & WHITSTABLE BAY COLLECTION (not BLONDE)
The beers on the list have mostly been put together by someone who's clearly not been to many UK beer festivals and tried enough of a Range of ales. Even though this Vid is coming up 3 years ago, pretty much all of these ales are just trading off the name and have been bought out by big companies that have sweet F.A to do with the Brewery itself. (Even Hobgoblin has turned to the dark side now)
The notable exception in terms of a quality product in the glass is Thornbridge JI-POUR Not Jay-pour as this idiot pronounces it. It's the only one that is still properly independent (Although they do have a second brewery now) but the quality is still good and it's a unique beer for sure.
The rest are poor or bang average now they are mass produced.
I'm a little surprised Carling and Boddingtons Are not on this list
Shawn Wilson I tried Boddingtons and hated it. It was imported to the US so maybe they send us the crap version?
Usually it's water down in North America or the white tasted like crap I thought the same about the Guinness over there i'm at the beer over there is water down that's the trouble are usually drink corona over there because it just comes in a bottle and I know it's Pure beer And not that water down crap
Because carling is cheap and nasty.
Shawn Wilson carling is canadian
The only GOOD guinness in North America is the the Guinness FOREIGN stout (which is ACTUAL Guinness imported directly from Ireland). The Extra Stout in the US is made by Moosehead in Canada. However, it still beats the Guinness that's actually in Canada which is brewed by Labatt/Anheuser Busch-Inbev. Everything that In-Bev touches turns into shit. The Guinness in the US tastes more like a watered down porter. The one we get here is worse since it tastes like a watered down Schwarzbier
That's why when I go for an Irish stout here, I usually go for Murphy's
British history world
Capt. Slow at 4:35 😂
Doombar is so good
Educate your taste buds, try Bathams bitter.
