@@MrSexymatthew I was 16 when I heard them early '67. As far a sound quality, check out the Doors performance at Isle of Wight 1970. That sounds alot like what I heard. The band's sound was so clear and powerful and you could hear every nuance of Morrison's lyrics. The only difference in the performance I witnessed was that Morrison was completely wasted (drunk?). He had to wrap his arms and legs around the microphone to stay on his feet. That is because the venue (Valley Music Theater) was a theater in the round. The stage rotated around and around with the audience seats were arranged in concentric rows of circles around the stage. The band started playing softly but clearly. Suddenly Morrison leaped into the air with his primal scream and they launched into "Back Door Man". What an opener. It was shocking. My sense was that Morrison would not be with us much longer. He was just too wild.

I met a guy once who said he met Jim Morrison once in 1967 when he was 15. He had no idea who he was until Jim appeared on the Ed Sullivan show!
His parents were shopping for a station wagon....yuck...and he was drooling over a blue shelby mustang that was on the showroom floor.
He heard a commotion behind him and turned to see a man dressed in a black leather outfit surrounded by stiffs in leisure suits coming into the dealership.
    Wow...that guy must be somebody!!!!
Oh well....back to staring at the Mustang.....
A few minutes later he's startled by the man in the leather suit who said
    ....
" Hey man...you gonna buy this thing?"
    He said he went speechless.
    " Uh...no...no sir. I'm only 15...I don't have enough money...not yet anyway"
    Jim just laughed.
" Okay man...cool. I just didn't want you to think I was trying to buy it out from under you are something...you know?"
" Naw...you gonna buy it?" The kid asked.
"Nope.....you see that uptight dude in the white shirt? He is...." and Jim started laughing.
    They both laughed.
Soon his parents called him over to the sales office. They shook hands and said see ya later.
His parents asked him about his new friend...who was he? The boy didn't know...but the salesman said he was some new rock star.
A few months later they were watching the Doors sing people are strange on Ed Sullivan....and they all said in unison...."There's the guy from the Ford place!"
    Pretty cool, huh......

I saw the doors in Louisville Ky. Freedom hall. I was young and didn’t realize I would be witnessing. I saw Jim. On stage wearing a white shirt. He wasn’t moving around the stage much. Just singing into the mic. It was loud and I mean loud. Lite my fire was the hit most came for. Then decades later. As a truck driver. I was far from home. And music is your friend. I discovered the music I grew up loving. That really meant so much to me. But I never bothered to connect the dots. That the DOORS was my favorite band of all time. Jim Morrison in some odd way. Is a messenger from another world. His personality and voice radiate on another level. Reaching some of us in a good way. Thanks Jim RIP.

The teacher said he can get a C if he gets at least A- from the exam so he read 2 nights and got the best grade. Robby was the youngest member of the band and already had a wide variety of influences when they did the first record (flamenco, blues & slide guitar, Indian ragas) and wrote some of the lyrics for th Doors' most popular songs.

The Doors were a perfect example of how special a group can be when each member brings something unique to the mix: A classical pianist, a flamenco guitarist, a jazz drummer and a poet who couldn’t play a note but just happened to have a good ear and a distinctive baritone voice. To me as I've only read about his life he was a very intelligent but conflicted young man that had problems with his father. He was a runaway and a college dropout making his way to California to end up making some of the best music ever made and die by age 27. He's touched soo many people with his words, actions, and thoughts. Sad that he died so young. RIP Jim

Morrison was kicked out of a few friend's houses/apartments when he was attending UCLA, for what else? Eating his roommate's groceries, among other shenanigans of course. Living on acid and legal pads can work up an appetite.

Jim WAS a huge sex symbol for years I think he got depressed during that trail and packed on the pounds then he could tell who really loved and supported him and who just liked his "image" he was fat when he did LA Woman its still an amazing album so people who cared about the music didn't care how much he weighed when he sang on it. Same thing happened with Elvis when he got depressed and fat some people treat you different. Use you then throw you away.

You are right, people DO say anything on youtube. But if you check the official record or even the unofficial record of wikipedia you will see that I am right...almost. Jim died in July, '71 and his father gave that speech in June, '71. I checked just to be sure and if you look at a few videos on my channel you will quickly see that I served on the ship that I said I did. It is good to have people checking to week out the errors and posers.
