imagine 10 months with this band doing this en Floor changing songs so she can sing operatic pieces herself as they where Original ment she is the best what could have been added to the band
Hello again, James. The difference between the official version with Anette and this one with Floor is mind-blowing. Nightwish used a backing track for the operatic vocals section that Floor performed here. But Floor's performance throughout is simply spectacular. Loved your reaction. Keep the Nightwish live with Floor coming.
That's partially why I felt so blown away by the performance. The fact she can do those operatic spots live, gave Nightwish so much to work with. More Nightwish will be coming, ain't no stopping that train
wow. already ten years ago. I was there in the third/fourth row and had a blast. It's always amazing to see Jukka the drummer going in with all the emotions and passion. He and Marco were the best rhythm duo to create the Nightwish sound so heavy and symphonic at the same time.
Hey, JamesWolfBlood. Thanks for your reaction and well said. I love the reactions of people who really understand how special Floor is and how she belongs to Nightwish. Together, they are the complete and best package, ever. To my personal opinion. Nightwish started off wonderfully with Tarja, was okay with poppy Anette. But with Floor, Nightwish is at a Out-of-this-world level. Although still missing Marko. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 🤘🫡
The original is great, it fits the album, it fits the movie its used in. This is a performance, its not trying to be the original and its a lot more joyous, energetic and just happy. Both are great in context, but I will admit if I had to pick, its this one.
Hello again. Nightwish army dicision Netherlands, land of Floor, here. Wacken is great, but Wembley, Buonas aires, Hellfest, Mexico city, Tampere...all awesome live recordings. I saw them 6 times and yes, they sound exactly like this in concert. They have so much fun on stage always anf rreally enjoy interacting. They are so sweet to the fans. I know you are scared of the rabithole of Nightwish. Just jump...for real Floor is the most female versatile singer out their. She sung opera's, but metal is where here heart lies. Her formor band, Revamp...there you see the full metal Floor.
Hey James, You 100% right on Floor. She is like no other. As a long time metal head, she has affected me so much that i made it my mission to go watch her and Nightwish and which i did in June this year in Gelsenkirchen Germany. It was like a Devine experience. And i flew out with my wife all the way from South Africa and great cost to make it happen but it was worth every cent. Whoever can go watch them please do so
I'm not sure if you ever seen Anette do this live but if not I'll say that the operatic part was a backing tract for Anette because she could not sing it herself.
It's really nice to see how much you enjoyed this Floor brought (almost) every song to a different level. There are many she never touched of course and there are one or two in which I prefer Anette. No hate from me for liking Anette - I listen to all the albums regularly and watch all my 30 concert videos regularly too, including the Anette concerts
5:07 to 5:14 to 5:39 yep 😅 I already knew you'd react like that 🤭 considering Anette couldn't sing the operatic part, so she let the backing track to do it for her, and there we have Floor, who can do pretty much everything
We all love Anette. However, she was not prepared for the live Nightwish experience. Unfortunately Anette was not able to sing the operatic middle section live. Floor? No problem. Then she powers it over the top and finishes so powerful. Respect to Anette. There are not many vocalist who could pull off this entire song in this style. I also loved the Imaginaerum record as well as the Dark Passion Play record. Two of Tuomas' best efforts. Do you like dark pagan music? Check this out. ua-cam.com/video/WT65X0eBTEA/v-deo.html - Eivør - The Last Kingdom: Main Theme (Live at Hammersmith Apollo)
This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Awesome tune , although on it's original form (Studio recording) is kind of a pop/rockish sound (originally sung by Anette. Great singer also, I might add), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER (Now it's More Metal) !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer, but Floor has none of that "Limit"!!! NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.
Watch Devil and the dark deep ocean in Buonas aires live. You will love it. Marko and Floor singing against eachother. Always a good thing to do is reading the lyrics first. They are way deeper than you think.Even storytime.
Greetings. Although Tuomas used actual choirs for their backing tracks, please note that in NONE of the songs in this concert did he include the backup vocal harmonies you would otherwise hear in the studio recordings. After hearing the originals, it was clear that Floor had such a great tone to her voice alone that Tuomas just performed the songs live without any additional harmonies other than Marko and or Troy. In 2016, however, he decided to start adding some harmonies to Storytime and Ghost Love Score to name a couple. This forced Floor to start singing Storytime more the way it was recorded in the studio than she did at Wacken 2013. If you enjoyed Floor on this, another one by Annette that Floor absolutely steals is "Seven Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley. But at this point I'm ok with any song you choose because Floor steals the show regardless of who recorded the studio version.... as you already witnessed. Thank you for the video, reaction and comments. Keep em coming. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤️🤘🤘 Edit: You may also want to check out Floor singing along side Simone Simons from Epica performing "Sancta Terra" live from Retrospect. Unlike Nightwish, Epica does travel with their own orchestra and choirs. Fun Fact... Floor and Simone both graduated from the same classical training class in the same year, have been very close since, and it definitely shows in that performance.🤘
The opposite of you, I heard this before I heard the studio version. My impression on first hearing this was "How in the hell was this not all over the radio on the US?" Then I heard the studio version, and I understood why. Annette is fine. She can sing. But the special in Imaginarium is Nightwish, not Anette, and listening to Floor do any Imaginarium song, or any other Annette album song (see: Poet) proves that. That last part before the last chorus in Storytime had to be handled by a chior in studio. Floor blows the chior out of the water. It sounds SO much better with just a single operatic lead backed up with a minor harmonic backing track. And it makes it SO much more impactful when she swings back Into the chorus.
Yes love nightwish, love all 3 singers too. You mention at the end about reacting to different genre's, then said all in one song, then chuckled....you know who that is don't you? Falling in Reverse.
Great reaction to this marvelous performance and I totally agree with your assessment. I think you would enjoy listening to Lara Fabian singing any one of her fabulous songs. 'Love by Grace' would be a great one to begin your adventure. Enjoy.
👍Hi James, nice reaction, i tell you straight away,i don't like the studio version, not so much that Annette is a bad singer but,i said before on a other reaction, the mix in the studio version of the 2th and 3th choirs sound unnatural to me,like a kind of "Mickey Mouse",maby a pitch shift effect on these voices? I also would argue,i'm older and alway's was/are more into heavy rock type bands and the period that Annette was in Nightwish,i got/get the impression that there were more younger people who liked them, because of the more "poppy"sound'',i can only respect all singers nightwish had/has but,Floor fit's like a glove for me in this band . Age and the time people "discovered" Nightwish surely play some role for what period people like most or don't like , but objectivly Floor is more advanced ,technicly and in versatility than Annette and even Tarja. Floor was already "schooled"when she started with Nightwish,Tarja was still learning and ,in my opinion,Tarja became better after Nightwish and Annette, well, i think Tuomas made a wrong choise in the sence that he ,in a way, threw away the old fan -base,because Annette could not sing a lot of the older repertoire, so i can imagen, the Tarja fan's were not happy.Floor brought everything back and more, she is just a vocal "chameleon" and a super stage presence, just what the "doctor"ordered.🤘
I suggest you try "wish i had an angel", "ghost river", "amaranth", " song of myself", "dark chest of wonders", "ever dream" live from wacken13 too And also "want my tears back" and "dead boys poem" live from buenos aires "last ride of the day" live at masters of rock "The poet and the pendulum" and "your is an empty hope" live from wembley "The greatest show on earth" live from tampere thanks for the reactions
New subscriber here! Hope to see much more Floor in your channel!! :) I stopped listening to NW after I heard Anette's vocals. I tried to listen to new album with her, but just couldn't. I hate her voice and she is not made for Nightwish (my opiinion, sorry Anette's fans) Storytime cought my attention, I liked the idea of the song but something was missing. And then few years later a friend of mine told me to listen to NW, cause they have new vocalist, and he gave me a link to this very song, Storytime from Wacken 2013. I was blown away. It was it! Floor was the factor missing in that song and now it is perfect! Powerful! And she is even singing all the operatics with no problem, live, while Anette is not even singing those in the album?! It IS a new song and Floor is the best vocalist NW could ever dream of (yes, even though I was Tarja fan, I think Floor is better for NW and I can't listen to old NW antmore).
If I could only watch reactions to only one Nightwish video, this would be the one. I like the performance of Storytime at Tampere 2015 for my 2nd choice. My 4 year old granddaugher likes that one better.
Great reaction. I like how you compare the album and live version, making the point that Floor doesn't sing it better, but differently, due to their diversity. My personal opinion is that Anette sings the song too "boring". Not bad, but too boring. It only has one continuous key. But whatever... I love seeing your face when Floor goes into the operatic part and lets it all out. This is what my face must have looked like the first time I heard it. Good job and keep at it. Would love to see your reaction to "The greatest show on earth" Tampere version. I am excited! Greetings from the German Nightwish Army xD
Hello, great reaction, the truth is that Floor sings Tarja and Anette's songs, but neither Tarja nor Anette will sing Floor's songs from the new Nightwish album, Tuomas unnecessarily promotes old hits with Floor's talent, but it's the band's choice, greetings from Poland
3:51.....what do you do when you try to sing along with Floor? You sing backup vocals or you sing with the choir. All threw this concert, you will see the crowd singing the choir parts, because nobody can sing like Floor. It is just that simple.
@JamesWolfBlood: Hey brother! I looked on your reaction lists, and I have some recommendations for you! First up, Canadian power metal band Unleah the Archers! Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Canada, Unleash the Archers is led by frontwoman Brittney Slayes. Unleash the Archers is an award-winning band, having won the Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for 2020 Metal Album of the Year: Abyss. Here is my Top 5 Tracks: 1) Abyss 2) Time Stands Still 3) Northwest Passage 4) The Wind That Shapes The Land 5) Tonight We Ride Next up: Sabaton. As you're probably aware, Sabaton sings about military history -- but as you only have 1 reaction to them, you need MORE SABATON. Here is my Top 5 Tracks: 1) Bismarck 2) Christmas Truce 3) Night Witches 4) No Bullets Fly 5) Defense of Moscow Next up, old-school metal powerhouse Iron Maiden. I have only one recommendation: Hallowed Be Thy Name, live at the Hammersmith, 1982. Led by frontman Bruce "The Human Air Raid Siren," the live 1982 performance of Hallowed Be Thy Name was the Ghost Love Score of the 1980s. Next, Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. Hailing from New Delhi, India, Bloodywood is a mix between Linkin Park, traditional Indian instruments, electronica, and all mixed with curry. Bloodywood is also a social-issue band, but is 100% independent, along with singing, growling, and rapping in both English and Hindi. Here is my Top 5 Tracks: 1) Jee Veerey (Hindi for "Brave One") 2) Endurant 3) Yaad (Hindi for "Remember" or "Memory") 4) Dana Dan (Note: This song is about SA. Make sure to turn the captions on. If you like, do some pre-reaction research on this one before reacting. Trust me.) 5) Aaj (Hindi for "Today") James, if you react to any of these recommendations, I guarantee you will not be disappointed! I would not recommend music I myself don't listen to. Be well, my friend! Cheers!
Thank you so much for all the recommendations! I'm already big fans of both Unleash the Archers and Sabaton, BUT I haven't dove in Bloodywood much. I think I've heard one song. I'll have to check them out!
I have heard both versions of this song. So very different. Floor just takes this song to another level. Because that’s what she does.
That voice that presence.. pfff she's the GODDESS.
James, your face was a picture when Floor went into her operatic voice!!!..… Great !
Yes, mind-blowing!
Love seing Toumas smile. It's like the smile of a really proud father watching his awesome kids ❤
Tuomas: ...and this is where we fill in with an operatic track..
Floor: hold my beer...
Those faces during Floor's Operatic part over the choir....EXACTLY!!!!!! lol 😍😍😍
imagine 10 months with this band doing this en Floor changing songs so she can sing operatic pieces herself as they where Original ment she is the best what could have been added to the band
Band:"So this part of the song is sung by a choir.." Floor:"Hold my beer.."
With Floor it more like, hold my whiskey. Single malt, scottish.😄

This song belongs to Floor now. This is the ultimate version now.
so true

Indeed
That is the fastest vibratto I head when Floor hits the high operatic note. She's like an artist that paints a picture with her voice.
Beautiful way to put it
I love this. The best song ever. My spirit song. ❤

My favorite song. Still makes me smile after listening almost every day for a year. 😊
But then all there music makes me smile 😊
Its difficult not to smile when listening to Nightwish. SO much to be joyful about with their music
Damn right, Imaginaerum is an amazing album. You sir, have very good taste 😁🤘
Thank you :D

Your reactions to Nightwish are killer!
Thank you :D

Yay. The mix is more powerful and vocals too. And the bridges vocals with the choir felt a bit weak before
This song always makes me so happy.

You need Last Ride Of The Day, live at Masters Of Rock!

Anette is a good singer, in studio. And for pop
Faster Louder Ornamental Original Ridiculous - FLOOR is just an acronym for the machine model she is.
Ornamental? Not sure she would approve.
I suggest you try "wish i had an angel", "ghost river", "amaranth", " song of myself", "dark chest of wonders", "ever dream" live from wacken13 too

"last ride of the day" live at masters of rock

Don’t forget 7 Days. “Wembley let’s go!”
Great reaction. Yeah you get it. Will need to check out your other NW videos. NWA Philly division here.

I am a Led Zeppelin fan, But this band are not from this world /best live band
Indeed !!
It is different because, unlike Annette, no matter how hard the band plays, they cannot out-power Floor!
Annette is a really good pop singer. She is not a metal singer. And Floor kills the stage presence, Annette was a frumpy shrew.
Evanescence can't sing ,when you hear FLOOR. !!
