For those wondering you can get all the pieces for this model on bricklink for around the same price as the new r2d2 set! the price my differ depending on where you are but roughly its about $100 including the Instructions and Stickers > tommyc.store/ < Happy Building!
Do you have a rough estimate of the cost of the chopper specific parts if you already have a 75379 r2d2 set to use?
I really respect that you tried to make your models out of affordable pieces, that’s definitely a big factor of why I get discouraged by MOC instructions

I absolutely love the build. My only thought is maybe changing the "eyes". I think having a silver lens casing and then all black lens may be better for the build. Using a 1x1 stud with hole would make the third eye have the variation and make it look more inset as well. 😄
Looks fantastic. I have never brought a custom set/moc before, but as a big fan of Chopper this might have to be my first.

Really awesome Chopper build.
Maybe a tiny oversight, as his left shoulder has a bit of a bevel around the curved edge, with the mismatched legs. But i imagine it was hard to find pieces that could achieve that detail.
not an oversight i tried to make the angle but couldn't figure it out to be accurate and good looking I've changed the shoulder a tiny bit for the final build but its still not much

Not all parts needed for the color swap are available in Pearl gold. So I'm using bright light orange. About 90% or so of the parts are available in that color. Interested in doing a decal kit for this one?

The talk about wheel reminds me of a factoid that the most tires made per annum is by Lego.
100% agreed. You really give Lego Designers props to make models correct and tested! I had to design, redesign multiple times in order to get my models to stay together. Nice job! Really enjoyed watching this.

I love your work, these are all really good and just to add, when I first saw the latest R2-D2 from Lego I was hoping for a C-3PO in the same scale to display together, the very iconic Star Wars duo but I know parts in the right color would be impossible for a MOC, it would have to come from Lego at this point.
C-3PO is being made by LEGO hence why I haven't made it myself, if needed i will be making a mods video on it when it comes out to make it more detailed like the r2 video last week :)
i love it. i'm sure people who build things like mechs in Lego could get something out of this.

I'm so glas this was recommended to me! I'm really surprised that LEGO has never made a Chopper figure after all these years, and this one looks superb. The Republic Bricks one looks great, but I'm not a fan of how fragile it was (plus, I've never bought the pieces for and built a MOC, so I'm hesitant to start with such a large build... the size of this one is perfect! I've only ever built alternate builds that just require the pieces in a retail set).
My only issue with this build, which is honestly more of a nitpick, is I'm not the biggest fan of Chopper's eyes here. I really don't know what it is, but they just feel kind of... off. It might just be that Chopper's left eye (from his POV) is a bit larger and differently shaped, but they all look the same here. I wonder if something could've been done either with different piece usage or maybe a sticker to make that eye look unique. That being said, it's such a minor criticism and doesn't at all change my opinion of the build! I plan on picking up the instructions from you soon!

yeah like i said in the video we test all of our models before uploading the instructions are done we are waiting on the pieces for testing

If I may suggest something - you should sell sticker designs as digital files for those who want to UV print it on the bricks - for me stickers are no way to go so I would prefer to pay for the design and then find a solution to print on bricks on my side.

This is basically perfect although I have one problem with it. I wish his arm at the front would move out, he uses it all the time and it would be so much better than a sticker.

i plan to add everything back to the website one day, however i need to go back through them and update everything to make it stronger and easier to build, I've come a long way from building these models and like chopper want the new instructions to be easier to build and higher quality for the builder

about the same as r2d2, cannot give specific's as bricklink will be different no matter where you are in the world

Joes right, also if you upload a set to ideas you loose the right to sell it as it would them be owned by lego for 5 years, uploading it to my website means you guys can go on there and build it now, imo its a better system and one day i may do kits so people can just buy the pieces outright

its not $500 its about the same price as r2d2 including the instructions and stickers :D hope that helps
