Maybe giving their clothes the slightest bit of blue colouring could fix the problem of the top half looking to much like the original. a little bit like the moaning myrtle but keeping their flesh toned skin and hair as to not mistake it for full transparency but keeping those transparent legs and I think it would look much more like a force ghost
I think the most simple solution would actually be transparent blue minifigures but give them full printing, Lego has an ongoing issue with printing pale colours at full opacity and I think in this case it would actually work in favour of creating that ghostly glow. Literally print the flesh tone on the faces and the light tan onto the torso, the opacity should be strong enough to hide the webbing but not opaque enough to fully hide the transparency of the piece, which I think would really effectively convey that ethereal essence the ghosts should have. edit: Really should've just kept watching the video

Bagglesstudio probably has the best force ghost concept/design. I own all 3 figures (obi wan, Anakin, yoda) and I'd imagine it's most likely what lego would follow if they ever release force ghost figures. Trans-blue just seems to hologram for me.
I think it’s perfect! Except you should also give it blue transparent arms with a bit of printing on it. To give the upper part also just a little transparency.
Love this. I think a way to bring the look together even more would be with a transparent cape (if the character wears a cape ofc) like they also did with the vision figure you brought up. It would bring some of that transparent blue to the upper part of the minifigure without being too overpowering
could make the base of all the parts of the figure that trans blue and then put the colored print you have over those parts, the print would cover the connections and you'd see the trans blue on the sides of the torso, the hands, any non printed part of the arms and the head etc. which would give the fig that blue outline effect without it looking like a hologram due to the print covering most of it
@TommyC, what about adding similar characteristics to the arms/hands area as well? Kind of like the Jek-14 Minifig? I love your concept and the light brick idea, especially using a white light brick vs yellow!
Thanks! :) , the arms looked a bit odd when i tried it for the video so didnt include it but its just a concept and ive loved reading everyone's suggestions!
just put the heavy printing on all translucent pieces. If it works for the legs, it should work for the other parts of the figures (besides the hair of course).
I think the see-through blue legs is a great start, maybe adding a similar tint to the printing would help blend it more and get it closer to the ideal. You could also make the hands and half the arms have the same clear effect so it isn't as clear-cut start and stop as this is.

Retourning to ninjago, cause I forgot a whole season, the ghosts are mostly transparent. Only counting the one with legs, cause the smoke piece is getting common and reused in many different ways, they still didn't have a transparent body, but only half of the legs and the head.
I think the translucent legs are neat, but the issue I have is the normal color of the rest of the minifig. If possible, I think they should use opalescence colors, which are semi transparent and also have a pearly blue shine. They would have to do new colors for skin tones, but brown just so happens to already exist. When I look at the transparent blue, they just look like holograms, or hitch hiking ghost.
Those blue legs AND a conservative trans-blue cape, the cap is kind of the only way to get an aura around their edges from most angles The legs alone just aren't enough
An interesting way to do the force ghost wouldn't just be the legs, but also the arms. Dual molded arms and dual molded legs with printing to help fade from solid to transparent. That could look cool.
I think the sides of the min figure would also need to be transclear blue too and a slight crop of the torso printing to have some of the blue outline stand out too and give off the movie appearance and went be light it should carry through and up to the torso and shoulders
To me, this doesn't really look like force ghosts at all. I think the translucent colours would look better in trans medium blue personally. I do like the solid printing on trans pieces, but I feel to look like force ghosts, this would need to be taken much further. Probably light aqua or light nougat hands. The arms should be trans medium blue with some of the solid printing on it. The head should be the same. The torso and hair would be more difficult. I think that if lego refuses to do fully transparent torsos, they would have to be dual moulded to really get the look across. Light aqua in the areas around the arms and where it connects to the hips. The rest would be trans medium blue with the solid printing. I feel like having the hair be a solid colour would also diminish the effect. It could work but I think they would have to be dual moulded as well. Obviously this would make the figures much more expensive, but I think this would look the most accurate to what is depicted on screen.
Cool designs. I like the blueish Myrtle look. I’d like to see the transparent half leg design expanded some. Like take a full transparent figure and then print the middle of it. Leaving the edges transparent still.
I really like this idea. My only recommendation to help blend the transition more is to have a gradiant at the lower half of the leg printing that goes from a blue-ish brown hue to then meeting the normal brown to lign up with the crotch piece. But the only issue with this idea is that lego doesn't really put gradiants on their printing, if I recall correctly. Their printings are usually just solid colors, line details, and maybe lighting/shadowing.
I like the clear legs idea. I would just make the torso transparent with the robe printing on top. Mabey, the hands could be transparent as well. Mabey. Overall, I like it!😁
what I think they could do is put some sort of radioactive substance in the plastic molding with some sort of dye, for example, a blue dye with plutonium mixed with plastic could give it that nice blue force ghost glow while also not being transparent and then they could work on the hues for the plastic, maybe a bluish grey tint as well to the normal colors
What would a transparent fig look like with full printing over it? Like the legs for your concept figures but applied to every piece.... torso and back print, unique arm prints that fade out towards the hands, a face print that fades into the transparent head and hair pieces...
Go the colour from the Myrtle figure and keep the translucent legs to avoid having to have a light brick. If you happened to have the light brick on top of that, it'd be absolutely perfect and I couldn't think of anything else to make it better
My though on this idea is we still go with the translucent blue , but the printing won't be just the outline of the figure, but rather dotted printing, instead of printing a huge shape with color, we allow some small spaces for the blue to push through, or maybe even faded printing. Print the details into fade but not to the point it's color is indistinguishable.
It might look mismatched given the solid torso but making the head translucent as well similar to what was done for Captain Salazar from pirates of the Caribbean would work to emphasize the effect and further replicate the glow seen on screen
The Harry Potter moaning Myrtle ghost fig is proof if could be pulled off without being transparent. Mediocre figure printing on certain 25th anniversary figures shows Lego isn’t all about making a product perfectly accurate before release anyway
I think that in the most idea scenario, working with what we can, LEGO would do partial transparent light blue pieces on the legs and I think even the hands, and then have a mix of regular printing and bluish printing like the HP CMF. Mixing the two would give you I feel the best mix of all three approaches. Hell, if they wanted to, they could even potentially do dual molded arms with the lower half being transparent light blue for just that extra bit of ghostliness. Super tempted to give something like this a shot. I've been LOVING making custom digital minifigs recently, so it could be a fun little side project!
I really like the cool idea that you have with the transparent legs. However, changing the overall figures colors to more of a blue tint much like that Moaning Myrtle figure and combining that with the transparent legs would be a perfect combination for a force ghost. I doubt that's something Lego would do but it would be the best option to represent them in my opinion. Great video tho keep up the good work!
I think changing the black accent/outlines on the prints to a dark blue could be the best compromise, perhaps alongside the transparent legs. It would kind of represent the glow in a way without being overbearing
I think that if they did the transparent legs and also did transparent arms with printing and maybe gave a blue tint to the colours of the torso, head and hair piece it could work better, but the way you did it has been the best way I've seen it outside of the lego games
Brilliant, the idea of using those transparent legs is genius. Perhaps they'd just need a blueish tint or more pale tint, though you are right that Anakin's new ghost in Ahsoka doesn't have any blue on his skin and clothes.
Check out what the custom minifig maker Baggles did. They made a force ghost Anakin, Obi, and Yoda. I really like their design- they made the entire figure in a grayish-bluish hue.
I loved the idea. Looking at the reference material, Force Ghost are only a bit transparent and with a lower contrast. So, if lower contrast on the clothes and face it would look even better. But, I believe that this is the way :)
That is not a bad look with the transparent legs and printing. Though I think like the Moaning Myrtle version the best. It really comes off as a ghost. And Anakin does still have a blue outline in Ahsoka.
I'm not sure why the torso can't be transparent too. Especially with the way torso prints are done on LEGO, you'd have a blue outline similar to what you see in recent movies.
Okay so. If you add one layer of printing but have the main plastic be see through it would look great. Like basically have the head body hair and legs that transperant blue but add a singular layer of printing of the characters colors
I think the concept of the force ghost should have a more blue tint to it like to were the original colors are still there just with a slight blue look to it
Idk how this would be done, but Imo the best way to make a Force Ghost would be to mold/print the minifig in the appropriate colors for the character, but with a slight bluish tint & have the leg printing transition to clear blue like Vision. Not a full bluescale minifig like Moaning Myrtle, but a slight bluish tint (slight bluish brown for example). That'll be perfect, but Idk how Lego would go abt this. Also, speaking of Vision, Imo Vision ($500 Avengers Tower) is _SO_ close to being accurate. He should've been molded in sand green & his head printing printed on a silver/gunmetal head instead of blue-green. Then he would be the most accurate Vision minifig to ever exist.
Probably wouldn't work but maybe a full transparent figure with solid prints on the parts. This would create a sort of highlight effect around the edges
i like the idea, but with lego outright saying they dont want to make clear torsos.. its hard, until they do it in a set, i couldn't really use it as an option, remember this is would i think Lego would make, not what i would do if i was in charge :)
They should do all four that way everybody will be upset three different times. But they make custom weapons for ninjago and starwars all the time they also make custom armor for the collectable mini figure line all the time to. But they'd barely have to do anything, theres a clear version of the ghost shroud on bricklink for 200+ dollars. And it looks fine its just not blue. They'd only have to ditch the face and the tent its pitching on its head to make basically the same peice but more streamlined. Then pair it with some rounded energy wave with handle peices.
i think clear hands and partially clear arms would be cool to see and maybe a more gradual transition with the legs like vision and i think giving it a very light blue print would also help
I'd probably also suggest transparent arms with printing, but for cost-cutting measures, LEGO probably would do transparent legs with prints. Honestly, probably the best they could do as a compromise (aside from being more like Moaning Myrtle.)
I think they should do the blended-with-paint transparent legs, but also they should also do the same for the arms, and add glow in the dark blue color printing on top of the normal colored printing to emphasize that this is in fact a force ghost.
Maybe you could change their colours so they’re colder? Almost like you just put a transparent layer of blue on them in post or something. Though I could imagine that wouldn’t look as good as it does in my head
Maybe adding a slight bit of grey pigment to the upper portion would make it look better. Light bluish grey is too dark imo, just slightly lighter than that would look the best I believe.
I think the Moaning Murtle & Nearly Headless Nick are the best way for LEGO to make foce ghosts. Perhaps adding transparent legs, but honestly, the only transparent legs only look really odd to me.
I know it would probably be impossible in practice, but i think if they could figure out a way to put a light inside a minifigure that would be best. Like if the minifigure print was like at 90% opacity and there was a blue light eminating from inside the chestpiece.
I don't think there's one right way, a definitive way to do force ghost, but I think there's some proven methods. Like you mentioned on the video, the blueish undertones is the prefered method. But even only outlining the prints with blue tones would already give that effect of glow. Another proven method that I could see Lego try implementing in some way is a blue vail coat, which is being done a lot with force ghost cosplays. Even just replacing the normal cape for a coat veil would probably go a long way. And the transparent figure is probably the most no brainer choice, although for me it was always with colored paint covering it all, with just a few parts and details left unpainted to give a look midway through both approaches. That's btw something I feel that could be improved on your design, if not making the other body parts also transparent, at least make the internal parts/connections with a transparent material, so when you shine a light brick on the feets the light goes through the torse and can shine a semi transparent head, or something like that. Of course, probably the ideal approach would be a mix of these methods. So light blue veil coat + blue highlights around all printed details + blue transparent printed legs.
The could also just wrap veil around each part of the minifigure, but the Idk how much that would affect the playability, or at least how hard that could make the build (like having to hold it on place while you attach each part)
man this video gets so close to an idea i've had for awhile. lego has put lights inside minifigures before (light up lightsaber figs) they should just put the light in the middle of the torso, same head push feature, and make every mold in trans blue (except the head/hair) with the character's regular printing
I love the idea, but what about adding the leg effect to, like, the very tip of the hands, and giving the rest if the body a slight blue wash or something.
To the fairness of that translucent lightbrick idea up to the Luke Skywalker force ghost none of them really moved all that much. I mean obi wan's ghost sat down in one scene but that was the most movement we saw. So for 18+ sets like the dioramas they've been putting out it makes sense since most of the older audience has mixed feelings on the third trilogy anyway
I think if the printing had a slight blue colour added and if there was a bit more areas that had the transparent blue like on the arms or the edge of the head then it would be perfect
Not bad effort. I would've also tried including the hands as being transparent blue as well. I agree with that one UA-camr that just the legs isn't quite enough to give the effect. Including the hands as well might solve that.
I like the idea, but them just having clear blue legs doesn't feel like it does enough to differentiate them from the non-ghost versions. Maybe if, in addition to the clear legs, the arms were dual moulded clear blue on the lower half and some blue printing in the wrinkles of the clothing and maybe some lines on the face would sell the effect a little better.
I think opaque blue would work best. I think between the lego games and shorts everyone expects it to at least be blue. The point isnt really accuracy. I see lego as more cartoony figures anyways
I like this version/rendition of LEGO Force Ghosts very much. I will admit I hadn’t given it much thought before, but contemplating all the design they have been doing before and the mock-up cover, I have to say this is the perfect way LEGO would really do it. I am very fond of of Fortnite, and when I scroll through all the LEGO versions of their skins, I have to admit some are pretty basic, some colors are off (by design to match LEGO colors I am sure), and a very small portion to me is unrecognizable just because there are not enough distinguishing features they could add due to the blandness of some designs. MOST versions are instantly recognizable despite those differences and despite the fat that they are very basic representations due to the LEGO form and style factor, and they still tickle my LEGO nostalgia. So coming from that perspective, I do think that the leg element with standard upper leg/body part perfectly conveys the Force ghost in LEGO Formosa course it looks much better with a light piece, but even without it I still think they work perfectly during play. Plus, judging by the movies, Force ghosts usually don’t visit to walk a mile or do jumping flips. They rest on a log or stand around in one or two places for a short while, then they are gone again. So, TL:DR is THUMBS UP, I LOVE it!!! I would enjoy these LEGO figures in Fortnite or any other digital experience, and if I had kids, I would love to use those to play with them for real!
The hair you used for Anakin (Lloyd's hair) looks very suitable for "Revenge of the Sith" Anakin, I always thought Anakin's hair only fit for "The Clone Wars".
The transparent blue should be a new color, dark blue. It could fade from the blended printing of blue and normal color to transparent dark blue on the arms and legs, then the hands JUST transparent dark blue, without a fade. This'll differentiate between the lightsaber blue and Force Ghost blue. I think that'll be perfect.
I really like your idea especially sense LEGO could maybe include a spare pair of regular legs so if kids don’t have a regular version of that character all they would need to do is swap the legs out
The main issuse is that you have to have the light brick on all the time, so the only way you'd get those kind of figs in a collector event may the 4th thing.
It's not only about accuracy, sometimes certain features have to be exaggerated to properly get them across. It's not a bad idea to make them slightly blue and desaturated just so it's more clear that they're ghosts.
Wow really good bro! I think this is perfect! Now one thing I would change is dual molded arms with transparent bottom half’s to improve the look! Great job bro!
i think that it would be nice if the arms were transparent aswell, and have the blending a bit better. or maybe just have it be a blue glow in the dark figure
I did have an idea on how to combine what you had with the transparency legs and may be add the arms and hands as transparent as well with decals… but may be add the feature that Lego made in 2003 where they added lights and a battery in side of the minifig to light up the saber so add that and when pressing the head it would glow the mini fig with out a back light the tech is small and simple now I’m sure it be possible
Who remembers playing as the Force Ghosts in Lego Star Wars 2? Edit: So who remembers the Anakin vs Obi-wan set from back in 2005 with the light up lightsabers? Now instead of having that blue light in the back drop, put it inside the figure and make it one solid piece like they did with the Anakin and Obi-wan figures, with the light shining from the transparent legs when you push the head down. That would fix the playabaility issue and it would look really cool
maybe just making the outline of the force ghost into that transparent blue? a little more than lego might do but maybe i dunno. So just like the outer edge of the figure is that transparent blue but i feel like that'd require too much work for lego but if it could be done..... Though i think the whole bubble idea could be good as well just make the bubble into say a slightly larger minifigure.
A similar thing to how the comments suggest i think if they can have a minifigure and the add a glow colour that doesnt change the underneath layer but gives it more of a varnish of the blue colour and then they paint the edges with a darker blue
Maybe giving their clothes the slightest bit of blue colouring could fix the problem of the top half looking to much like the original. a little bit like the moaning myrtle but keeping their flesh toned skin and hair as to not mistake it for full transparency but keeping those transparent legs and I think it would look much more like a force ghost
i agree, there is probably way more you can do to make this affect even better and i hope lego try their hand at doing a force ghost!

I feel like having that fade effect for all of their limbs would be the best approach.
it is possible with a Chameleon paint (those paints change color depending on the view angle, for example front view skin, side view electric blue).
Transparent Legs is a good idea, but i think is not enought... maybe a combination with a monochrome minifigure as well.
@@TommyCFigs Maybe the parts needing to be solid are solid and the parts that don't have to be are transparent with printing
Transparent may not be "accurate" but they look cooler, so your point gets canceled out, but the glowing legs does work
i think the transparent would better be left to holograms
Maybe you could change their colours so they’re colder? Almost like you just put a transparent layer of blue on them in post or something. Though I could imagine that wouldn’t look as good as it does in my head
Maybe adding a slight bit of grey pigment to the upper portion would make it look better. Light bluish grey is too dark imo, just slightly lighter than that would look the best I believe.
I think your final product mixed with the color scheme of Myrtle would be the best.
Like your unique approach with the trans-blue legs, however I guess I prefer the style which Baggles used for his custom force ghosts
Make the legs glow in the dark
Not bad effort. I would've also tried including the hands as being transparent blue as well. I agree with that one UA-camr that just the legs isn't quite enough to give the effect. Including the hands as well might solve that.
Honestly I think the baggles custom figures are amazing for that. Maybe mix something like those with transparent legs with solid printing
Just cover them in holographic chrome. or put a metallic luster into their mold. Either would give them the deep shimmering effect you're looking for.
Harry potter does it just do what they do. It's not that hard.
Wow really good bro! I think this is perfect!
Now one thing I would change is dual molded arms with transparent bottom half’s to improve the look!
Great job bro!
I'd also use transparent arms and hands, with a blend on the arm. Emulate the glow effect
I think I remember some LEGO Star Wars Minifigures where the lightsaber could light up
I think making their skin tone a bit of a light blue would be good
i think that it would be nice if the arms were transparent aswell, and have the blending a bit better. or maybe just have it be a blue glow in the dark figure
I'd suggest also using translucent blue hands for the extra effect
And I also like how you made the blue only on the legs because the force goes only have the seafood part on the legs kind of
I did have an idea on how to combine what you had with the transparency legs and may be add the arms and hands as transparent as well with decals… but may be add the feature that Lego made in 2003 where they added lights and a battery in side of the minifig to light up the saber so add that and when pressing the head it would glow the mini fig with out a back light the tech is small and simple now I’m sure it be possible
The transparent legs with a slight blue tint on the rest of the fig would probably be the best compromise
A similar thing to how the comments suggest i think if they can have a minifigure and the add a glow colour that doesnt change the underneath layer but gives it more of a varnish of the blue colour and then they paint the edges with a darker blue
