    Accent work with a Coach will help vocabulary usage because most non-native speakers write and read better than they speak, so it makes all of your "passive" vocabulary "active" when you learn to pronounce sounds better and stress words correctly ... come to our website for a free consult!

    Hi , Most of the coaching here is "Spoken English" They only teach people speak English (indian english ofcourse with prper grammar). Its really hard for me to Find any Accent Classes in Chennai (Down South- State of Tamil). So is there anyway I could do this online somewhere (Meanwhile I will do my search for accent classes here in Chennai, thanks a lot rebecca)

    I think you missed the point entirely and might want to watch videos #1-3 in that order to grasp the intent ... it's through awareness of how our patterns from our first languages affect our second and third languages that we can begin to create sustainable change ... make sense?

    Hi rebecca! I love your lessons so badly. However, I still get into trouble in reading a passage out loud. I can't articulate every ending sounds, link sounds as well as get the right intonation. Can you give me some advice because I'll become an interpreter in the future.

  • @rebeccalinquist
    @rebeccalinquist  11 років тому

    There really is no shortcut, unfortunately. You have to do a diagnostic, find out exactly what you are doing differently, and systematically work to create change with an Accent Coach (native speaker of the accent you desire) to correct you and give you feedback every step of the way ... you can request a free eval on my website if you like.

    This articulation with airflow sounds OK to me. But I find it is exact what native american, especially females, DO NOT do. They very frequently like to speak with a blocked, suppressed, monotonous squeaky voice at the lowest corner of their vocal chords. At the end of the sentence they lift it up as it was a question... but it is not at all.

    Do all Americans speak from the diaphragm??

    • @rebeccalinquist
      @rebeccalinquist  7 років тому

      good question ... first, the best way to phrase it "with the support of the diaphragm" and no, many people speak poorly ... the issue is that if you are going to the trouble of learning an accent (like the American one) why not develop good speech habits too? And that's why diaphragmatic speech is important!
