This gun demands a certain level of trigger discipline IMO. For immediate threats, I have to correct my aim and intentionally miss and hit the ground around them, so the splash damage kills them, not me.
Absolutely, spamming it will punish you. It’s real good tho against many enemies. I run it with Stalwart, Supply pack, Gatling turret, and EAT. It’s ridiculous

In my opinion, this gun doesn't carve enough of a niche to be used over any other options in any particular role, but also is worse at being a generalist than all other generalist options. I think it would be most usable if you bring a support weapon that makes up for the weapons shortcomings. It can handle chargers and small enemies, but not whole hordes very efficiently, and not hunters without great risk, so I would say pair this with the grenade launcher for horde clearing, then the plasma to clean up whats left and deal with chargers. Feels a little odd bringing 2 grenade launchers, (and self harm galore) but it could work. I dunno, its in a really odd place, and i might take it because its conceptually cool, but it feels so awkward to try to get it in the right scenario just for it to barely perform well enough in its best use case for me to survive. you gotta LOVE what this weapon is to put up with how this weapon can be. *edit, i should add i dont believe any primary should alone have horde clearing capability, but it certainly cant handle anywhere near the number of bugs any shotgun can, or the number of automatons any rifle can, which is odd for a splash damage option.
It cetainly can handle automatons way better than a rifle in the appropiate conditions, and is generally better and handling the medium class units at medium range too. While true you generally want to engage at long range, sometimes you don't want to be TOO long range regardless, since you need to clean up efficiently
Lots of footage of shooting this thing into groups and just not killing anything. If you want to bring a grenade launcher, but you don't want to actually kill things, this is the gun for you.
The ability to shoot straight up and arc the projectiles high and make them come straight down on top of enemies comes in handy particularly for the currently new 'tower defense' asset protection missions. You can kill enemies that are right up against the gate without having to expose yourself standing up on the platforms and paired with other things like mortar sentries, its stagger effect can make it easier for the mortars to kill them. Becoming the mortar sentry yourself takes a lot of practice and understanding the trajectory angles in order to get the most of out this niche trait the weapon has, however and some people don't like to use their brain to solve in-the-field math problems. XD
Use it in combo with melee. Scout hopping at you? Melee in the face for 1 hit kill or send it back far enough to fire. The range on this shotgun is about 100 meters depending on your elevation. duumguy6219 have you even played the game? U can't aim while in the air. Also if u shoot whatever wepons it will be to your far left while in the air no matter wear your reticle is aimed.
I just got this thing, and it's my new main weapon. This thing is OP as fuck. It takes out scout strides in 2 hits from the front, and devastator with shields in 3-4 hits no matter where you hit them.
regarding the high arcs, it's GREAT for extractions to lock down an area. Also, aiming at the feet of enemies makes it more consistent at hitting, since you can rely on the AoE instead of the direct hit, which is liable to miss because of the slow projectile.
This, the plasma shotgun has a high skill cap IMO. Master it, and you'll be top kills All.The.Time. I now main this weapon instead of the scorcher for bots because it can stun lock pretty much anything besides hulks,tanks. 1 Tap striders and is soo good at artillery, have gotten a 36 kill streak by raining down artillery on an enemy outpost. You'll never have to worry about rocket devastators ever again.
@@abdulaziznasseralsaif7588I can get over 500+ kills with the rover on some missions, and I use the dominator as my primary. I seriously doubt he made over 700 kills with just the PP, mostly likely it was airstrikes and orbitals or even a rover doing the heavy lifting.

As long as you have this weapon you can kill everything.
This with the GL is ridiculously powerful. It's also makes other setups more viable, I like to run it with a stalwart or hvmg, weaken them with the plas shotgun then clean it up with a machine gun.
Whenever I use the plasma punisher I just think "I'd be having a better time with the Grenade Launcher" and go back to that with the Scorcher and supply pack.
Grenade launcher bounces off heavy armor and can even deflect off medium. Plasma shotgun ignores heavy armor and will not deflect. I think the plasma is just better other than not being able to close bug holes.
@Someguy6571 Plasma punisher cannot quickly deal with the sheer density of enemies at Helldive. It just kills too slowly. The only enemy the grenade launcher can't kill is the bile titan. The GL only bounces unintentionally if you're using it incorrectly because you're inexperienced with it.
I run plasma, jump pack, and grenade launch for closing bug holes. Otherwise I tend to run flamethrower instead for chargers, I just hop up on a rock, flame em down, it’s good against tightly packed hunters if any get too close jump away or melee.
issue is nade launcher practically requires a supply pack to use in frequent general combat. This lets me use a nade launcher-like weapon with PLENTY of ammo, and use something else for a secondary to deal with more niche situations.
I have unlocked this gun early and it brought down my average mission time per mission type by 20-30% at difficulty 4. Thats ~660 XP every 20 minutes for the big mission parts and 220 XP every 6 mins for the smaller ones. I've never regret picking this gun up
It’s amazing because you can kill 3 at a time and berserkers. It takes skill to know how and when to use it. Also accuracy. It reloads quickly and has plenty of mags. You can kill anything in the game with it. It hits weak spots indirectly allowing you to kill things from the sides and front like tower turrets, tanks, hulks, chargers etc and it blows the belly out of chargers, bile titans, and spewers. All in a primary. If aimed well you should be getting multi kills often per shot. Not to mention stunlocking very lethal enemies like any devestators, brood commanders, and stalkers. It’s amazing.
@@HandyDandy6 you can 1tap devastators with the diligence CS, and 2 tap with the regular diligence. Both of them can do it at excessive range and with cover. This thing requires you to stand still (it will miss if youre moving) and pump 5 shots into a devastator, its useless against bots.
@@HandyDandy6 You can take devastator out with a lot of primaries namely with OG punisher. I hit is enough to stagger it, second one aimed in the head is usually a killshot.
Having lots of fun with this gun when paired with guard dog rover and stalwart, especially against the bugs. Highly recommend when paired with the above.
I love this shotgun, and I will never stop using it. I'm also so tired of trying to show people how to use it effectively, because it takes practice, strategy and understanding to really see it shine. What this gun does better than any other is keep you alive.
I wanna start get into bots but since it’s alot of medal grinding im in doubt wether to go for dominator or plasma punisher… Scorcher is too far out my reach with grinding.

It's a good support weapon for bug breaches. So long as you have a somewhat competent team not a whole lot will get vary far. You just aim for the breach point and unload trying to hit everything that comes out while your team focuses on doing the actual killing of the things moving forward. I pair it with the recoilless rifle since my job is anti heavy and it's the only thing this gun cant really deal with
This has been my weapon of choice on bot runs, usually paired with the Rover and a heavy rocket (Typically EAT, but could be the Quasar recoilless or spear.). Rover and my sidearm take care of the ones close to me, The rockets take out the tanks, hulks and dropships, while the punisher pops Scouts right out of their walkers and keeps devastators stunlocked until they die. The range can be good if you're willing to walk some shots to dial in the right angle.
youre right, it doesnt feel like 100dmg, it feels like 30. i had to double tap scavengers when i used it idk if it was bugged or something but good lord that whole like 3 games it felt like i was running around with a super soaker
I did try to make this gun work, but in diff 9 even fighting bugs this gun performed less than satisfactory, there will be 10+ hunters all the time, and you can't even fight the flying bugs. You could pair this with a Laser cannon or Rover and even a laser pistol, but then again, if you have the Laser cannon, you already won't need this gun anyway. However, I believe this gun will perform well with a good communication team, You could take the role of a short-medium range group killer and stun lock the bug breach, which will give the team an easier time to do the objective. the SG-8P Punisher Plasma is a nice unique gun that could potentially be good with a team that you know, but for quick play and random, there are many better guns that are easier to use and more effective, such as the well-known Slugger that is the only primary that can open metal door.
Honestly I mostly run it for those nasty spewers with jumppack, it’s great if you get up high you can stay safe for a while and reign plasma nades, the key is to run away to aboit 25 meters and fire everywhere, there’s so much ammo I find it better to spray and pray at groups from a mid range typically from above.
The Plasma Punisher has very similar bullet drop as a Non-Servo Assisted, regular grenade throw; so you don't have to adjust your aim when throwing a regular grenade. That said, I've been able to max this thing's range at about 140m on flat terrain, and hit shots reliably as far as 110m. Just depends on how good you are both arcing your shots and predicting enemy movement.
I have a great time with this weapon teaming up with Laser users and assault rifle/shotgun users makes for brutal combos against the bugs. I was also using stun grenades, anti-tank/ 500kg, eagle air strike, sheild generator (not the green relay one) also makes viable builds with this. I just wish it could shoot straight or have medium penetration to hit as hard as liberator penetrator but having autocannon teammates as back up helps too but without them that grenade launcher will help wipe out massive hordes and take out chargers if you dont have airstrikes.
I feel like if it had 12 rounds per canister(similar to breaker), fired a little faster, and had about double the arc distance and 1.5-2x the projectile speed it'd be a much less niche pick and more viable for an actually useful portion of the community.
U can "avoid death" of explosion upclose by diving backwards and shooting hunter. It saved me many times. Also i use heavy armor -50% explosive damage with this gun
It has the most horrible sight in the game. Grenade launcher at least shoots point blank out to 20-30 meters. Here's an idea: Let us use the weapon setting menu to dial in the sights. Like you dial in 20 meters and it show you an aim point for that.
honestly this is my favorite primary gun aldo i only use it for egg missions for obvious reasons and not on any other since i feel like i could do so much more with a breaker or the schorcer or any other shotgun. tbh i myself would just love to see it get a little love maybe be able to one shot warriors or a little higher mag capacity or honestly just be able to close bug holes i never bring normal grenades only the shock one thats why i could use some explosive damage and not rely my 500kg bomb just to close 1 bug hole... this gun could have so much potencial it it gets any help
My experience with this gun is having to ask myself if it's the best gun in the game or the worst one and I think that says a lot about it. the highs are really high, but the lows are incredibly low. Killing six small bots with one shot because they were all grouped up around a devastator is fantastic, but missing one small bot three times because your shot went between their arm and their torso or they were just a moderate distance away is painful and that isn't to even mention blowing yourself up.
I just wish it would have a pitch offset like many games do grenade launchers so you didn't have to point your camera so high. My player model or viewmodel is always in the way of what I'm shooting at with this thing
I really want them to buff this thing. I've, with a mixture of excitement and disappointment, taken it as my primary for solo Automoton dives. I was using the grenade launcher and a marksman rifle to great success, but came to the realization that I'm totally helpless against flying factories. I NEED the bubble shield, so the autocannon is out, and EATS are too slow, so the quasar is the only solution. However, I need a way to deal with masses of devestators, which is why I brought the grenade launcher to begin with. This thing shines pretty bright sometimes, especially if you combo it with an impact grenade to clean up berserkers quickly. It needs to do more damage and in a wider area, though. Requiring sometimes an entire clip to kill 1 gatling devastator because it's so hard to hit at range makes it feel really weak, though I did just start using it yesterday so maybe I just need to git gud.
I made the mistake of thinking the armor that prevents 95% of Arc damage would protect me from killing myself on accident if bugs got too close- I guess plasma and arc are not the same thing? Also I have been afraid to use it because I was thinking this gun is part of the Arc gun bug that causes everyone to crash their games presently. This game is so broken right now.
This does not crash the game only arc specific weapons due to how the game is registering shot accuracy for any arc weapon, blitzer, arc thrower, and Tesla sentry.
When I first played this weapon, back in the days, I told my friends : This is not to be used as a gun, because it is a mortar. What you said was correct, but in the video at least, it seems you haven't connected the dots : More damage at long range + unpractical at close range + firing arcs... one answer : MORTAR baby !!! If you can, try it that way with friends, before they assault a compound, bombard the place mortar style. Cheers.
One thing I never see anyone saying is that if you are point blank diving away is the safest way to deal with enemies. Also when at that range, aim at the ground behind or to the side to be safe that you both hit and give yourself enough room
I love this gun , and only thing I want from game dews to fix about it is it's ballistics , can it's plasma projectile fly a lil bit more straight? or mb they can provide us with distance measuring scope? I'm good with both
They updated the damage stats to be more accurate. Both scorcher and plas punisher are 200 damage. Advantage of plas punisher is bigger splash damage and stagger
All I heard was kills chargers in 6 hits. Sold. I have a support weapon primary that deals with everything else. Chargers are the bane of my existence and if it does that singular thing I am happy.
It takes forever to kill a charger with it and on higher difficulties there will be sometimes 3 of them with horde of smaller bugs jumping everywhere. Its a trash honestly.
Honestly they shoudl buff this and let it break nest/fabs. they no unlocked it for the reuptor. there is 0 reason not to do it for this one. and give two options. if you have one you already opened the door.

Definitely my go to weapon. Sometimes I try other primaries but this thing allows me to specialize as an anti armor diver so well that I always go back to it. Sorry scorcher, I know we had a good run...

@@DrPooplove A lot of people don't understand, unfortunately. I think Hollywood and politicians have butchered gun related terms so much that more folks get it wrong than right.
This gun just feels awkward in every way imaginable. I tried it couple of times and forget about it forever. Gun that makes me struggle with trash bugs on diff 4 and running circles from them aint't gonna work on diff 8-9 no matter how hard you try. You can see it yourself in the video, the guy is playing on diff 3 and 4 and constantly backing away from bugs and struggling to stay alive against 2 hunters this is telltale of how terrible this gun underperforming. Scout walker literally only enemy in the game this gun performs good against and even in this incredibly specific role it greatly outclassed by scorcher.
I have found it's very powerful against bots for me. I do not like it much against bugs, but it shreds pretty much every bot type except for hulks. I consistently get 1.3-5x my usual amount of kills when I use this gun vs bots it does seem to work well vs bugs too and it increases my kill count quite a bit, but I find it awkward to not be able to shoot adjacent to yourself vs bugs so even if I do well, it doesn't feel as good to use I typically only play on difficulty 7 but on the few higher level missions I ran vs bots I still felt good about the gun

I wanna start get into bots but since it’s alot of medal grinding im in doubt wether to go for dominator or plasma punisher… Scorcher is too far out my reach with grinding.
the fact that it was more grenade launcher than shotgun really disappointed me at first, but i can see its charm. I'll need to give it a few more tries.
Using this rn for the illuminates, perfect for stunning the overseers and crowd control.
This gun is so good, it requires a some what learning curve to master it, haven't tried it against the bots but against the bugs it's amazing
It's a good support weapon for bug breaches. So long as you have a somewhat competent team not a whole lot will get vary far. You just aim for the breach point and unload trying to hit everything that comes out while your team focuses on doing the actual killing of the things moving forward. I pair it with the recoilless rifle since my job is anti heavy and it's the only thing this gun cant really deal with
This is the gun I always use, once you master the arc its devastating

seeing how usefull and powerfull it is, I think it would benefit alot from using any of the two machineguns

I love the Punisher Plasma! It has been a boon against the bot menace!
This has been my weapon of choice on bot runs, usually paired with the Rover and a heavy rocket (Typically EAT, but could be the Quasar recoilless or spear.). Rover and my sidearm take care of the ones close to me, The rockets take out the tanks, hulks and dropships, while the punisher pops Scouts right out of their walkers and keeps devastators stunlocked until they die. The range can be good if you're willing to walk some shots to dial in the right angle.
youre right, it doesnt feel like 100dmg, it feels like 30. i had to double tap scavengers when i used it idk if it was bugged or something but good lord that whole like 3 games it felt like i was running around with a super soaker

0:22 I use this gun a lot and I didn't know it can kill those tanks from the front, that's a huge and AFAIK unique advantage of this primary.
The scorcher is like a mini auto cannon, and the plas is like a mini mortar
I did try to make this gun work, but in diff 9 even fighting bugs this gun performed less than satisfactory, there will be 10+ hunters all the time, and you can't even fight the flying bugs. You could pair this with a Laser cannon or Rover and even a laser pistol, but then again, if you have the Laser cannon, you already won't need this gun anyway.
However, I believe this gun will perform well with a good communication team, You could take the role of a short-medium range group killer and stun lock the bug breach, which will give the team an easier time to do the objective.
the SG-8P Punisher Plasma is a nice unique gun that could potentially be good with a team that you know, but for quick play and random, there are many better guns that are easier to use and more effective, such as the well-known Slugger that is the only primary that can open metal door.
Honestly I mostly run it for those nasty spewers with jumppack, it’s great if you get up high you can stay safe for a while and reign plasma nades, the key is to run away to aboit 25 meters and fire everywhere, there’s so much ammo I find it better to spray and pray at groups from a mid range typically from above.
This, supply backpack, and the new mg could be a fun loadout I think.
The Plasma Punisher has very similar bullet drop as a Non-Servo Assisted, regular grenade throw; so you don't have to adjust your aim when throwing a regular grenade.
That said, I've been able to max this thing's range at about 140m on flat terrain, and hit shots reliably as far as 110m. Just depends on how good you are both arcing your shots and predicting enemy movement.

Been using it a lot recently over the scorcher. I feel like my ammo control with this is better, wish it could close bug holes!
Regarding BILE titans, if they've had some damage, use this gun to aim at the shoulder. It will ruin them providing they've had armour taken off
I have a great time with this weapon teaming up with Laser users and assault rifle/shotgun users makes for brutal combos against the bugs. I was also using stun grenades, anti-tank/ 500kg, eagle air strike, sheild generator (not the green relay one) also makes viable builds with this. I just wish it could shoot straight or have medium penetration to hit as hard as liberator penetrator but having autocannon teammates as back up helps too but without them that grenade launcher will help wipe out massive hordes and take out chargers if you dont have airstrikes.
I feel like if it had 12 rounds per canister(similar to breaker), fired a little faster, and had about double the arc distance and 1.5-2x the projectile speed it'd be a much less niche pick and more viable for an actually useful portion of the community.
U can "avoid death" of explosion upclose by diving backwards and shooting hunter. It saved me many times. Also i use heavy armor -50% explosive damage with this gun
This thing needs a leaf sight similar to the m203 I deployed with to Iraq. Or maybe the indirect fire sight.
It has the most horrible sight in the game. Grenade launcher at least shoots point blank out to 20-30 meters.
Here's an idea: Let us use the weapon setting menu to dial in the sights. Like you dial in 20 meters and it show you an aim point for that.
honestly this is my favorite primary gun aldo i only use it for egg missions for obvious reasons and not on any other since i feel like i could do so much more with a breaker or the schorcer or any other shotgun. tbh i myself would just love to see it get a little love maybe be able to one shot warriors or a little higher mag capacity or honestly just be able to close bug holes i never bring normal grenades only the shock one thats why i could use some explosive damage and not rely my 500kg bomb just to close 1 bug hole... this gun could have so much potencial it it gets any help
If you wear armour with 50% Explosive resistance it helps alot
you can totally snipe with it once you get used to it. yeah it doesnt go across the map, but it goes preeeeetty far
My experience with this gun is having to ask myself if it's the best gun in the game or the worst one and I think that says a lot about it. the highs are really high, but the lows are incredibly low. Killing six small bots with one shot because they were all grouped up around a devastator is fantastic, but missing one small bot three times because your shot went between their arm and their torso or they were just a moderate distance away is painful and that isn't to even mention blowing yourself up.
It needs more damage, and some medium armor pen. THIS would make it an odd YET effective niche in the HD universe. Until them, Scorcher is SO SO GOOD.

I tried using the scorcher after using the dominator, and it actually made me mad at how bad it was in comparison.
If you get really good at it, this gun has incredible range, be a mortar!

I just wish it would have a pitch offset like many games do grenade launchers so you didn't have to point your camera so high. My player model or viewmodel is always in the way of what I'm shooting at with this thing

That would only help with electricity weapons like the arc thrower. Need armor with explosive resistance I think
Favorite gun to use against bots
I really want them to buff this thing. I've, with a mixture of excitement and disappointment, taken it as my primary for solo Automoton dives. I was using the grenade launcher and a marksman rifle to great success, but came to the realization that I'm totally helpless against flying factories. I NEED the bubble shield, so the autocannon is out, and EATS are too slow, so the quasar is the only solution. However, I need a way to deal with masses of devestators, which is why I brought the grenade launcher to begin with. This thing shines pretty bright sometimes, especially if you combo it with an impact grenade to clean up berserkers quickly. It needs to do more damage and in a wider area, though. Requiring sometimes an entire clip to kill 1 gatling devastator because it's so hard to hit at range makes it feel really weak, though I did just start using it yesterday so maybe I just need to git gud.

I made the mistake of thinking the armor that prevents 95% of Arc damage would protect me from killing myself on accident if bugs got too close- I guess plasma and arc are not the same thing? Also I have been afraid to use it because I was thinking this gun is part of the Arc gun bug that causes everyone to crash their games presently. This game is so broken right now.
This does not crash the game only arc specific weapons due to how the game is registering shot accuracy for any arc weapon, blitzer, arc thrower, and Tesla sentry.
When I first played this weapon, back in the days, I told my friends : This is not to be used as a gun, because it is a mortar.
What you said was correct, but in the video at least, it seems you haven't connected the dots : More damage at long range + unpractical at close range + firing arcs... one answer : MORTAR baby !!! If you can, try it that way with friends, before they assault a compound, bombard the place mortar style. Cheers.

One thing I never see anyone saying is that if you are point blank diving away is the safest way to deal with enemies.
Also when at that range, aim at the ground behind or to the side to be safe that you both hit and give yourself enough room
just got that gun and will try to get using it.
I use it alot with the bots, only hulks and tanks can defend against it, everything else stops in its tracks and get stunnlocked to death
Also, the longer the projectile travels, the bigger the AoE...
maybe that's why my mortar bombardments are so effective. :v

I love this gun , and only thing I want from game dews to fix about it is it's ballistics , can it's plasma projectile fly a lil bit more straight? or mb they can provide us with distance measuring scope? I'm good with both

They updated the damage stats to be more accurate. Both scorcher and plas punisher are 200 damage. Advantage of plas punisher is bigger splash damage and stagger

All I heard was kills chargers in 6 hits. Sold. I have a support weapon primary that deals with everything else. Chargers are the bane of my existence and if it does that singular thing I am happy.
the difference with scorcher is the range. and it needs more practice for precision

It takes forever to kill a charger with it and on higher difficulties there will be sometimes 3 of them with horde of smaller bugs jumping everywhere. Its a trash honestly.

Definitely my go to weapon. Sometimes I try other primaries but this thing allows me to specialize as an anti armor diver so well that I always go back to it. Sorry scorcher, I know we had a good run...

@@DrPooplove A lot of people don't understand, unfortunately. I think Hollywood and politicians have butchered gun related terms so much that more folks get it wrong than right.
This gun just feels awkward in every way imaginable. I tried it couple of times and forget about it forever. Gun that makes me struggle with trash bugs on diff 4 and running circles from them aint't gonna work on diff 8-9 no matter how hard you try. You can see it yourself in the video, the guy is playing on diff 3 and 4 and constantly backing away from bugs and struggling to stay alive against 2 hunters this is telltale of how terrible this gun underperforming. Scout walker literally only enemy in the game this gun performs good against and even in this incredibly specific role it greatly outclassed by scorcher.
I have found it's very powerful against bots for me. I do not like it much against bugs, but it shreds pretty much every bot type except for hulks. I consistently get 1.3-5x my usual amount of kills when I use this gun vs bots
it does seem to work well vs bugs too and it increases my kill count quite a bit, but I find it awkward to not be able to shoot adjacent to yourself vs bugs so even if I do well, it doesn't feel as good to use
I typically only play on difficulty 7 but on the few higher level missions I ran vs bots I still felt good about the gun
