Sometimes when you start out trying to save a buck it's costs you a lot more in the long run. That is my experience with this carburetor. You can check out the issues with in this tear down video so you don't repeat my mistake. ua-cam.com/video/0ccY3WnzRqE/v-deo.html
I've purchased a couple eBay Chinese carbs for various ATV projects, just as a word of caution I've always taken them apart and inspected the passages for metal shavings and sure enough there's been left over chips from the manufacturing process. Everything was fine after a good cleaning, just wanted to let people know if they ever have issues with tuning a Chinese carb is to check for metal debris. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching and for your comment! There is a follow up video on the channel. Let’s say long term results were not very good. I took it apart and the rubber was poor quality and ultimately lead to issues after a few thousand miles.
I bought one and installed it on my 1980 Ford F-100 with a 4.9 inline six cylinder and it works great! Only adjustment I had to make was the hot idle as it was a little low for my truck, idle mixture was spot on!
I'm glad it worked out for you. I ended up trashing mine. All the rubber went bad including the accelerator pump. I'm positive it would have leaked at some point. I did make a follow up video with a tear down. ua-cam.com/video/0ccY3WnzRqE/v-deo.html
Excellent no-nonsense, no frills review. Thank you for taking the time and energy to do a comprehensive and objective review. Great assessment and display of rust "somewhere" going into the carb/engine. Definitely makes me think twice about the carb I am trying to find for my '66 Mustang 6-Cyliner!
Glad it was helpful! After my experience I think you would be better rebuilding what you have or spending a little more for a rebuilt one at RockAuto. I ended up replacing the tank (which wasn't the issue) and all the fuel line (which was the issue) with Nickle Copper (that stuff is the best) fuel line that I bent myself using sockets in a vice and the old line as a guide. I then drove that car from Harrisburg PA to San Francisco and back. :) Yes I had some issue but fuel and fuel delivery wasn't one of them.
I just discovered your channel, such a nice christmas present, I'll be watching your videos. Your presentation is very good. I'm a 70 year old man who grew up with these early mustangs and mavericks. My parents in the 1960', 70's drove econolines and mavericks with six cylinders. My mother loved her Maverick, 6 cylinder , auto, P/S. They always started in below zero weather in central Minnesota, just had to keep the batteries fresh, those mechanical voltage regulators were tempermental. So, when I was in the Navy in the seventies I drove Mustang, 1966 2+2 fast back with 200 six and top loader four speed with hurst shifter all over the country, never had a problem. Today I drive a 1977 f150 300 six with c4 trans, P/S. Great cars and trucks back then, I live in the midwest in a small town, not leaving, they still sell regular gas here for my old trusty-truck.
Thank you for the kind words and for watching. Before you order one of those carbs you might want to check out the follow up video. I developed a flat spot after a couple of months. :) I too drove 6 cylinder Mustang during my time in the service during the mid 80's I was an Air Force Jet engine mechanic stationed North Carolina. Both of mine were 67's with 200 6's one was an auto and one a three speed. I drove those cars back then because they were reliable, cheap, and easy to keep on the road. They made plenty of trips back to Pennsylvania none of them quickly but they got me where i needed to go.

We put an eBay version on my uncles falcon and it’s been running for 6 years now. Just need to adjust it when the season changes. Swapping to V8 soon, it was originally a 289 car but someone stole that and put a 200 in it.
around 2020, I decided to delete the feedback system in my truck because it really was not running well at all, so I installed a vacuum distributor and in order to do that I had to replace the carb too. I went with the amazon special carburetor like you have, and I did add a manual choke to it just because I wanted one in there. so after I had everything snapped into place, and I tuned the carburetor I was actually impressed with a cheap carburetor like that one. I might try to go the next level and install a 2 or 4 bbl, or maybe find a manifold that you can mount two single bbl carbs onto, but right now this carb is serving me well.
I'm glad to hear that. I had uninstall this carb 400 miles later as the accelerator pump and some of the rubber gaskets failed. I did a follow up video and a tear down video. ua-cam.com/video/0ccY3WnzRqE/v-deo.html
A couple months ago I got an eBay $79 Carter YFA carb. I just have manual choke and not electric. Couple of months in and it seems to be doing fine. I took put a second filter. Pick up a spare filter; it's just two screws and a quick swap. That trip should clean out your tank. Have a great time. Don't forget the mix tape
I have to update this video. I'm four months in and the accelerator pump went out. I picked up a rebuilt one and I'm good to go. It ended up being $86 of money tossed down the drain.
Thanks Tony for showing what you got going on with your Maverick. On my 65 Mustang I put a new gas tank in . Hopefully my carburetor is OK or I will buy a new or rebuilt one also. Do they make gas tanks for Mavericks I wonder. 😁👍
Thank you Roy and yes they do make tanks for the Maverick and I have found one for $129. I'm going to run the car and bit and see just how bad that filter gets before I buy the tank however I am pretty sure that's where I'm going to end up at before too long.
I bought one. Works OK, wasn’t great out of the box but it did run and was an improvement over the carb that came off. It was A LOT lighter than the carb that came off. I need to work on tuning mine and maybe that’s my issue
I made an update to this video. I ended up taking it apart and tossing mine in the trash. I had a 6,000 mile cross country trip I was going to take and didn't want to press my luck. ua-cam.com/video/0ccY3WnzRqE/v-deo.html
