like that chic who looks real ugly in pictures but is a total bombshell in person but this one prius is actually pretty ugly even in person, have your eyes checked or don't forget your glasses at home next time you look at it.
Nice explanation of the Prius. At age 74 this is our first new car ever and probably be out last. We were not really looking for a new car. Just driving through Corwin Toyota in Fargo, ND one Saturday after doing some shopping. We saw a sales lady walking thru the lot also. We told her were not interested in buying but we would be willing to listen to a creative salesperson regarding the cost objections we had about new cars. Three to 4 hrs later we signed a 3 yr lease for an monthly amount we could afford, keeping our van we did not want to get rid of. We have a 2016 Prius 3 pkg and love driving it everywhere we go. What has excited us even more is every tank of gas we have filled we have averaged 62 mpg. We average more than the suggested mpg on current window stickers. We have driven long distances and short and it always comes out the same 62 mpg. Love it.
I really don't see why people say it's so ugly. It's not a sports car, but it's futuristic looking, aerodynamic, and the mileage and other perks for the price are worth far more than owning something that looks like a plane.
After considering probably 10 different cars, from Hondas to Mazdas to Fords to Hyundais, I finally bought this one, same trim, equipped the same way. The first time I looked at I thought it was ugly but it has a weird way of growing on you and it drives really well unless WOT performance is important to you. This car is about MPG and tech. Both are amazing.
This is a very nice car. I would absolutely buy one, and i'm a 19 year old black guy. Don't like the center console (I heard people say toilet, and it actually does look like one) Don't like the wireless charging thing just sitting there, I would probably never use it Exterior looks freaking awesome! Gas mileage is always a plus Beauty is subjective. I like it, but the next guy probably wont... I don't understand why everyone feels the need to dislike this car. Everyone is just jumping on the "Let's hate the Prius" bandwagon. I'm not a tree hugger, I'm not trying to "save the environment", I'm not trying to get 200mpg, I just like a funky designed car and good gas mileage.
+ARandomUA-camr My wife ones; a 15 Polar White Prius III with the solar roof package. It's not a bad car at all. I don't drive it much...but it drives just fine to me. I drive a Tacoma TRD Sport with the 4.0L V6....so I'm used to something with a little kick to it. When I drive her car, the first thing I do is push the power button. This lets the traction-battery send more juice to the drive motor...and it's quicker than people think. And the gas mileage? Well.....damn is all you can say.
+ChErRyaVe20pK That is not the demographic that Toyota is targeting with the Prius. My point was not every teenager, let alone a black one, is close minded and stubborn.
+ARandomUA-camr dog you must be high if you think the exterior looks awesome. Have you seen the latest 4 series BMW's or the Tesla? I just don't get why they have to make these cars look so fucking bad. Why can't they just make it AT LEAST look like a normal honda/toyota car.
I am a V8 Truck guy, but have to drive 1000 miles a week for medical reasons. Always knocked the prius until I drove a new one. We bought one yesterday. Great car.
PRIUS IN SNOW: Guys, I live in VT at a ski resort and have just ordered my 4th prius. I find that with snow tires, not all season, it is great and the only difficulty is clearance if we have a storm. Traction is good, but I do have a steep driveway and do have to use the Power mode to get up it when the slush is thick. Otherwise it is a great front wheel drive car in the winter.
I just bought a second hand 2017 today and I've gotten more information about the car from this video than any other source including the dealer. Great job! Thanks from Canada.
Excellent video!! We're thinking of getting one- so this was great on learning about all the features (& how to use them!) Love getting great gas mileage!
now this is a car review very in depth good videos you pretty much show everything I can go to the dealer and already know more about the car than the salesman
Your car is a utility. It is meant to get you from point A to point B. My wife drives a Mercedes Benz, I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee. But we just picked up the 2016 Prius 3 and its pretty nice. It feels futuristic, the interior gadgets and exterior are not like any other car. It wasn't meant to be sexy like a Ferrari. . So far, we've driven 90 miles and the gas tank is still full. Sure, its nice to have a sports car or luxury car but there's nothing wrong with saving $900 per year on gas alone. You can use your luxury cars for weekends or getaways. But this is the ultimate car for getting to work and back. TBH, i wasn't a big fan of the styling when it was unveiled but its grown on me. You go enjoy your muscle car that will prob break down 10 years before the Prius will.
Also after the Volt battery drains empty, it is only averaging 42mpg in pure gas mode (example: driving LA to Vegas or SanFran). This Prius will average 50mpg and therefore still be the cheaper car. AND the Prius (or any standard gasoline/diesel car) costs $15,000 less than the Chevy Volt. These are the basic facts which car reviewers of the Volt or plugins, never ever mention to the audience.
As one who has never considered a Prius, I must say that this Prius seems to be a mighty fine car. Will have to keep my options open when it's time to get my next car.
Well done Mike and thanks to Sparks Toyota. We have not yet seen the Prius 4 in France and your review is complete. We are waiting for the next vidéo of the Prius4 : on the road.
Wow, the interior is gorgeous. If Toyota offered some kind of extended range electric variant like in the Chevrolet Volt, I would very much consider this car.
26:58 "Now this thing right here you can push it down.." and you will hear water being flushed from the backseat XD In all seriousness though, I love that design.
I just discovered your channel and subscribed immediately. The quality of your videos is amazing. And you cover so much details when showing the car that pretty much left the final test drive when visiting a dealer. The tone of your voice and pronunciation is great too. Keep the good work!
I love this car....................I’m convincing my parents to buy one and we are thinking to buy one when we move .................. this car is a gas saver :)))))))) and I like the style it’s nice

This car is one of the most functional cars available today. To the shaped headlamps and the upslope to the rear, the car is made for function. LED Headlamps are standard with auto high beam assist. Toyota Safety Sense is standard. The car is also has a plush ride and is quiet as well. HUD is also available, while some manufacturers don't have it at all in their whole lineup. I've heard the B on the shifter is supposed to help with uphill climbs and snow. I have a friend who has this, I made fun of him when I saw it, but after he explained all these features including how the CVT works, I had gained respect for the Prius. The transmission doesn't actually use a belt, rather a variable configuration of planetary gears. So you could say that the Prius has a auto transmission (technically). Needless to say this car is a pretty good car for non-enthusiasts, especially in places where oil prices are high.
For the most part, on a Prius you would want to use the brake pedal. Using the gear selector brake feature will not give energy back to the HV Battery. Normally that is if it's a really long hill, if it's every day driving just use the pedal.
Looks like many new thoughtful improvements. Not sure I like the gloss back dash trim vs flat black. Seems like needless glare that could have been avoided. Good review Mike.
My Prius 2015 is up for lease soon and yet I've decided to keep it and finance. Here's why: 1)Solar Roof-In California it's hot as $%#$ and the solar panel cooling, there's no substitute. 2)Dual Glove Compartment, once you have one, you don't want to give it up. 3)Star Trek console, I love it, feels snug. 4)Sporty styling new one looks more like a Ford in the rear area, don't dig it. 5)Seats seem cheaper in new Prius, back cover is very cheap in New Prius. 6)More hidden storage, both in back and enough for two bottles of water on Driver and Passenger side. Granted it's a rough ride but otherwise something I plan to keep for 10 plus years.
The new Prius is a very nice car, the only thing that bugs me is that it doesn't have solar panels on the roof. The 3rd Gen had those as optional and you could use the panels to activate the air ventilation during summer and keep the car cool.
I noticed on the sticker that there was a number of USB charging cable options. I have a 2010 Gen3. The USBs are in the center console. When you opened it up, I didn't see the USB ports. Where are the USB ports in this car?
thanks, very nicely done and well detailed review. i'm surprised that with all the hi-tech gear, there is no remote start for those super cold mornings for those of us who don't have indoor car ports. still i'm more than a little interested in this car. thanks again
Few things I want to know about 2016 Prius Two: How to adjust the height the trunk opening How to setup the messages over iPhone How to turn off the backup/reverse sound alert How to setup with any temperature and preference for AUTO temp
good job mike you point out everything i like your speech thank you this afternoon,i went to toyota of bristol to get oil change on my 2015 toyota camry xle v6 instead stay in the waiting room, i went to test drive the 2016 prius nice car it's not as fast as my v6 camry but it is a fun car it is a very quiet car, very easy to drive it feels super comfortable to drive it is very light easy to turn left or right when i start up the engine i don't even hear anything at all great improvement i love the car and i will buy one new when prius has a good discount by the way a lot people don't even know the small tire is better (the 15 inch is much better feeling than 17 inch when you drive in local choose 17 inch if you drive a lot on highway)
Don't know why some of you out there think that this is a shity looking car...on the contrary it's awesome. Something different from your avreage car. I'm considering buying a new car, I will def go by a Toyota dealer and check this one out. If I like it I'll buy it..don't give a shit what others say. Grear video mate.
7:52 = A lightweight gas cap is NOT going to scratch a car's paint, that's just a myth. I let my Toyota Corolla gas cap hang by the tether all of the time and no paint scratches over the past 10 years from doing that. The only real thing that the tether is nice for is to prevent from losing the fuel filler cap itself.
I've been driving one of these for the past 4 months while in the UK for work. It's right hand drive, but basically the same. I normally drive a VW e-Golf at home. The Prius is weird, as a gas 'saver' it does it's job, but they don't take advantage of the EV motor enough . As an EV driver I found the EV mode in the Prius to be absolutely useless. If you mildly press the accelerator it shuts off for what it deems 'excessive acceleration'.... If you are going over 20mph it shuts off for 'excessive speed'.... If you are in 'B' mode it won't engage.... In fact 95% of the time it was unavailable for some random reason.....very frustrating. It does have 3 drive modes, normal, Eco, and 'power'. Once I discovered power mode I put it in power mode always, otherwise it's sluggish at best and needs to have power mode as a drop in mode if you mash the pedal for safety reasons IMO. ( the E-Golf does this where it automatically goes into full power mode if you mash the pedal). The interior is roomy, but otherwise cheap, lots of hard plastics, shapeless seats and the white painted sections are stolen from a Chevy Volt. The HUD display is a must have because the dials are off center otherwise. the adaptive cruise was decent, and the rear camera was well placed but too exposed and gets wet and dirty, (again another thing the e-Golf does better, where the rear camera is hidden away behind the rear VW badge and only pops out when in reverse.) the rear wiper was in the same place as the left hand drive car, so in right hand versions it's visible in the mirror and often confused with a car in your blind spot, and the area it wipes is useless. The exterior is frankly hideous, the front has too many things going on while the sides have very little and the rear is from a completely different styled car! Not to mention the awkward a pillar crease just randomly diving into the fender with no relation or pick up to anything else, making it look like a mistake. In all it's a weird car for those who only care about saving gas, but not brave enough to buy a full EV, and have little care for style... This new one makes the old one look handsome...
I like some of the additions, but not a fan of some of them either. Did they remove the sunroof feature that turned on a fan during the hot days? Thanks for the video!
How long does it take to charge from 2-bar to 3-bar. If the part of the video was unedited, it seems to take less than a minute, which is a major improvement over the previous generation.
I thought the "B" was to turn the brakes into 100% power generators to recharge the batteries. I use this feature on my 2007 to charge the battery while going down hills, as well as controlling the speed.
In the red color, I actually think it looks bad ass !! Not so much in this white !!! Plus the gas mileage though, come on, at that point not to many care....for me I could probably fill this car ONCE a month !!! Shit, that's a major plus in my book
Just test drive one today. Compared with my 2009 vw jetta tdi(24k paid at that time) it feels cheap. For a 25k car, I expect more. The one I tested was Prius 2 eco and... there is no space at all for me! 6'05" and long legs-38.5 inseam. Not worth it 25k...maybe 19-20k will be close to reality . And the road noise is pretty noticeable(not the engine but the rolling noise) compared with my tdi. I can close the eyes about the leg room since I found some websites selling brackets to relocate the front seats (or you can build or weld your own) but what is the point if you paying 25k taxes 9% for CA, fees...you end up with close to 29k. At that price, you can buy a cool MB E250 (or the older 350) 3-5 years old diesel bluetec.
My 2014 Volt has about 48,000 miles on it. I drive a lot. I just hit 100 lifetime mpg. That is 100 mpg average after driving about 24,000 miles per year. That is double what this Prius gets. Volts get higher mpg if you drive less than 50 miles per day, but remember the Volt has a gas generator for unlimited range. You can charge the Volt on a regular outlet at your home in about 10 hours, or you can use a 220 volt charger and charge it in 4 hours and drive about 50 miles on a charge. The Volt has 279 lbs of torque at zero rpm, so the Volt literally explodes off the line and blows away Prius, or almost any car. To keep up with a Volt most cars would need to rev their engine and drop the clutch, but the Volt just sits silently at the light then takes off like a ride a Disneyland. Why would anyone want to drive a slow Prius that gets so little mpg. Many Volt owners get 1,000's of mpg if they drive less than 50 miles/charge. Yes I said 1,000's of mpg. Prius is OLD TECH!
+9a2er In my state, California, we have electric vehicle rate plans that allow off peak charging at a very low price. In my case, before my Volt I paid $100/ month for electricity, and after I purchased my Volt and signed up for the electric vehicle rate plan my bill still is $100. So basically I do charge for free. In addition many places of employment have free chargers. I paid $22,195 for my Volt after $9,000 in government rebates and tax credits. That is cheaper than a Prius with as many luxury add ons the Volt comes with. I drive a lot so my mpg is only 100 mpg. My friend has yet to put gas in her Volt and she bought it 7 months ago. Free charging, $22,195 final price, oil changes once every two years, and no need to go to the gas station for 7 months and climbing....I think the Volt wins hands down. Oh, and the Prius is so slow compared to a Volt and a Prius handles like like driving an appliance. Prius is OLD TECH. Toyota needs to steal Volt technology to compete.
+9a2er I'm not sure a Prius gets 60-70 mpg, but whatever. If you are talking about a plug in Prius....maybe, but they cost more than a Volt and sold so poorly they will no longer make them in 2017. I sometimes drive 120 miles in a day, charging just one time, and I still get 120 miles per gallon. Readers, please ask yourself if you typically drive less than 50 miles per day. If you do you could easily get 4,000 miles per galleon in a Chevy Volt. Yah, I said 4,000 mpg in a Volt. Say what you need to about the Prius, but 80% of drivers of a Volt will be driving within the battery range of 50 miles. Remember the Volt can drive anywhere gas is sold and never needs charging, but if you do charge you can get 4,000 mpg. Search UA-cam for the Volt video that actually gets 9,000 mpg. It is so easy to argue from such a position of strength with the Volt, than to argue for the OLD TECH PRIUS. I'm glad I don't have to defend the 50 mpg slow Prius to the 4,000 mpg fast Chevy Volt.
+9a2er I find your claims of mileage not to be the typical miles per gallon for a Prius. I went to Fuelly.com and the average for a Prius in California is 46 mpg for the typical majority of drivers. If you hyper mile and drive ...well like a Prius driver you might hit mid-50's, but what man wants to drive so slow? If my 2014 Volt iever got 46 mpg average I would take it in to the shop immediately, because I usually average 100 mpg driving 46,000 in a little over 2 years.. I'm definitely on the low side of mpg in the Volt because I drive so much. People who drive 12,000 miles or less per year will have much high mpg in a Volt. If you really get your claimed Prius mileage, imagine what you would get in a Volt. I think you would get 1,000's of mpg in a Volt.
I like the digital dash to be in front of the steering wheel like it is on the 2007 Prius. Also the gear shift knob location should of been like it was on the 2007 Prius...it was more natural. It would be nice if both front seats were power. Even though the 2016 Prius has some really good features; I'll have to stay with my 2007 Prius a while longer because of the placement of the digital dash and gear shift knob.
I don't see why theres so many haters. This is my next vehicle!
i have one of these. Best purchase i ever made. I get 65MPG most of the time.
I was a hater until I drove one we rented a week ago. Purchased a 2017 yesterday. Its a great car and you can't beat 55+ MPG.
I have the 16 and I love it

Looks like many new thoughtful improvements. Not sure I like the gloss back dash trim vs flat black. Seems like needless glare that could have been avoided. Good review Mike.
This type of design is you LOVE IT or you HATE IT! Like the Ford flex was is
My Prius 2015 is up for lease soon and yet I've decided to keep it and finance. Here's why:
1)Solar Roof-In California it's hot as $%#$ and the solar panel cooling, there's no substitute.
I can understand how some people don't like how it looks, but it certainly does spice up the oh so boring road picture we have today.
The interior looks great. That's all I can say for this car.
I love it I have a 2012 Toyota Prius thinking of upgrading to a 2016 Toyota Prius love the Prius.
If Aliens had cars, i feel like this is what they'd look like
really?, my car doesn't look like that even though i like this desing, it's agressive and different
I like the design, looks futuristic
OMG!!! I love this used hybrid car & I buy this.
best review of toyota prius 2016
I actually like how it looks...
bad ass car.
The new Prius is a very nice car, the only thing that bugs me is that it doesn't have solar panels on the roof. The 3rd Gen had those as optional and you could use the panels to activate the air ventilation during summer and keep the car cool.
really best video ever , thanks Mikes
I noticed on the sticker that there was a number of USB charging cable options. I have a 2010 Gen3. The USBs are in the center console. When you opened it up, I didn't see the USB ports. Where are the USB ports in this car?
thanks, very nicely done and well detailed review. i'm surprised that with all the hi-tech gear, there is no remote start for those super cold mornings for those of us who don't have indoor car ports. still i'm more than a little interested in this car. thanks again
I still drive my prius 2010 with 40,0000 miles, but I still love it。
Few things I want to know about 2016 Prius Two:
How to adjust the height the trunk opening How to setup the messages over iPhone
How to turn off the backup/reverse sound alert
How to setup with any temperature and preference
for AUTO temp
good job mike you point out everything i like your speech thank you this afternoon,i went to toyota of bristol to get oil change on my 2015 toyota camry xle v6 instead stay in the waiting room, i went to test drive the 2016 prius nice car it's not as fast as my v6 camry but it is a fun car it is a very quiet car, very easy to drive it feels super comfortable to drive it is very light easy to turn left or right when i start up the engine i don't even hear anything at all great improvement i love the car and i will buy one new when prius has a good discount by the way a lot people don't even know the small tire is better (the 15 inch is much better feeling than 17 inch when you drive in local choose 17 inch if you drive a lot on highway)

saabkyle needs to up his game with some 8k videos
hi. Thanks for the review. can you please show which radio and navigation functions are locked up when the car is moving?
Can you please do the Chevy Silverado regular cab 2016
My first car goal 😊😊❤❤
Great video, thank you Mike!
it looks okay. as long as it saves me money, I don't care how it looks. its just a transportation tool. spend your money wisely.
+samsa deniz Cars are not just transportation tools.
Been thinking of doing uber, should I finance this car from Toyota or wait a few months for it to drop?
The front reminds me of the Lexus LFA
Nice looking car, very unique in appearance. I love it
This is so pretty😍
YOU ARE THE BEST BOY
For the "B" in the gear is actually for Transmission Brake not Engine Brake
+raynaldo torres thanks
I was wondering when someone was going to make a review on the new Prius by the way thanx
+Kyshawn Hamilton Thank your for your positive feedback! Please share my videos if you can :)
+MikesCarInfo ok thank for replying
great walk through!
+ltdorn Thank you for your positive feedback! Please share my videos if you can :)
Great video, but 31k for a Prius still makes me cringe at the thought of buying one.
I currently a 2005 Toyota Prius I would love to have this vehicle
ooooo toyota did a good job on that car 👍👍👍
+Kevin New I agree!
I love it and going to buy next December 2016
can a 6ft7in man fit in the rear seat and feel comfortable?
Great video!
I just bought this car, same color
After how many milage battery needs to he changed and how much it cost for 2016
I like the digital dash to be in front of the steering wheel like it is on the 2007 Prius.
It beautiful I'm going to get me one!!!! Wow!!!!!
+Brit aldridge I agree... it looks great!
I hate my 2016 prius. But I love the mpg, comfortable ride, and reliability.
I Love Toyota and this video is so awesome because it's a Prius 4
i am 9
