    I needed another vehicle so I purchased the 2016 Toyota Prius two Eco , so far in 1000 miles been avg.low 60 MPG without trying .
    The looks do grow on you ,color makes a difference and the side molding makes an appearance change especially from the side profile .
    Alex is spot on with his review as compared to my daily driving experience with same vehicle .
    Thanks
    Joe

      Yes, Tech. We bought a '17 Touring 3 to replace a '15 Two, lease. It is much superior in every every way. and the looks are high tech, but sometimes awkward when viewing the back, from the side. We are considering selling our '15 SE Sienna and just having this one vehicle. The only thing stopping us is the utilitarian aspect of the Sienna. Thanks.

      @@lsotojr1 I have a 2017 Prius 4. Overall average is about 63 mpg. I get more like 58 on the highway. As high as 68 for a day with more city driving. Up to 70 for single trips city driving.

    After the initial shock, I am liking this all-new Prius (and its overall looks) more and more. That stellar MPG is simply too good to resist.

      yes, the 4th gen is everything the 3rd was not...as long as it is remembered that acceleration falls off above 50. The new platform feels more like a sporty car, rather than just utilitarian.

    Wife is averaging just over 60 mpg with her '18 Prius Two. The engineering in the car is amazing. We considered the Ioniq, but two factors swayed us in favor of the Prius. First, Toyota has far more experience and engineering knowledge base relating to hybrids than Hyundai does. Second, the Prius has a very well documented reliability history, and the transmission in the Ioniq was a big question mark, not worth the risk long term.

    The Prius 4 is the best offer out on the market. Why? Strange but good and very interesting looks. Roomy like a turnier combi. Very good low fuel consumption, if you know how to drive the car very economical. Even an efficent electric car is no alternative. Most reliable car, will not leave you stranded somewhere sometimes. Will last longer than any other car. That's what I think and believe. I enjoy every ride with the P4 very much over more than 4,5 years and there are many more to come.

    Excellent review! I own a 2018 Prius Two Eco, and I like it, and it is surprisingly roomy. I am about 6'2" with broad shoulders and once you're seated, it really doesn't feel that cramped at all. IMO it's ugly, but actually better than a normal gauge once you get used to it. My favorite is the old Civic gauge that had the speed above the steering wheel and the tachometer in the traditional location behind the wheel. (goo.gl/Xtysos) I like the Prius gauge just slightly less since it's a little more in the periphery of your vision than the Civic one was, but you never need to actually look at either gauge because you can read the number while looking straight ahead.
      It's too bad Honda no longer makes that type of gauge, but I guess HUD are getting more common so it's a moot point now.

      Despite what Alex says, do yourself a favor and drive a Volt too. I just bought one (coming from a Volvo s60R) and it's superb. Definitely smaller than a Prius, but much nicer in many ways. Even only charging about twice/week, I am averaging 80-100 mpg. Great car.

    • @corystansbury
      @corystansbury 8 років тому +2

      HappyListener50 I currently can only charge my Volt about twice/week (only through October). Even with that, I manage to match or beat the latest Prius for operating costs, CO2 emissions, and total well-to-wheel efficiency (including all losses and electrical generation). Of course, once I can charge every day, that gap will grow tremendously.
      With that said, the Prius is bigger and gets better mileage on road trips, so the Volt isn't for absolutely everyone. I wouldn't use a Volt for a family of 4 adult-sized people. Rear seat headroom is tight.

    Can anyone tell me how they expect the 2016 Prius to handle in snow? I currently drive a 2010 Prius and live in a northern US city. I deal with occasional blizzards, and snow that refuses to melt. Getting out of curb-side parking spots and snow drifts can sometimes be problematic. Conditions aren't so terrible that I need AWD, so I'd like to stick with an efficient hybrid. Is the 2016 worth it for me? If it's not, is there a comparable hybrid that would tackle snow drifts better than the Prius?

    • @fluffysharkdatazz9460
      @fluffysharkdatazz9460 8 років тому

      its kind of just a weird set up of a traditional set up. you take the shifter and move to the direction of whatever you want the car to do, popping back in place one click away, they make it more directional so it has a feel and its easy to understand. The ones on chrysler vehicles are a shifter that goes back into place, but without feedback or direction. you would have to physically look at the shifter to tell if you are in drive for sure. its easy to navigate and get use to, but literally anyone can slip up in a blink.

    Toyota really need to fire whoever designed this new Prius! It's one of the most ugly cars on the market right now! The Chevy Volt on the other hand is a lot more attractive.

    The problem I have with the new Prius is that it is even uglier than the last model, and the interior design is a disaster. The bone white cup holders on certain models look like little baby toilets. I love the friendly looking Corolla inside and out. If they could Corolla-ize the Prius I would love it. The mean razor-dragon origami shapes of the new Prius seem to appeal to the Japanese, but I don't think most Americans like it judging by comments and reviews. A car should not look like it is going to bite you and then drag your corpse to hell. I like friendly looking cars.

      Christopher Calder if they corolla-ized it then it’s target audience would stop buying it. The reason owners love it is because it’s so tech-forward and innovative.

    Toyota is a HUGE company, which can design cars better than this ! This is an over-styled front and back - with dorky side proportions. The Toyota accounting-department must have done this job.

    Disliked only because efficiency is not good enough compared with... for example... BMWs with 3-cylinder diesel engine. There are multiple options.

    • @DanielBlaney
      @DanielBlaney 8 років тому +2

      you have to compare it in the city. The diesel will never get 50+ mpg in the city. Also european gallons are larger than US gallons so you need to convert. Not a big prius fan though. I prefer fords approach to hybrids which doesn't change the look of the vehicle, or remove sound deadening/reduce interior material quality.

    • @tarassu
      @tarassu 8 років тому

      Daniel Blaney why not? 50 US mpg in city traffic is possible. Start-stop system, planning 10 seconds in advance and light foot. 50mpg from Prius is also from moderate foot. Prius (not plugin version) can regenerate very little. BMW B47 and B37 engines can get 50mpg in city. 60 us mpg on roads outside the city. I just travelled 2000km on BMW 530d (N57 engine). Steady speed 90km/h and exactly 48 us mpg. But this is a huge executive class vehicle on massive tires so not comparable with Prius.

      Prius One wasn't ever released in the US and it was basically just a Camry of its time with the hybrid system thrown into it. Gen 2 was redesigned to be eye-catching instead and was the first released to the US and even then about halfway through its production cycle.
