Thanks a lot for your regular Prius reviews. I followed them keenly and they were encouraging me to buy a Prius which I now own for ten days. It's early days but so far I am extremely satisfied with the ride comfort and fuel consumption. Some of the tech packages and features here in Europe might be slightly different but basically it is the same car. Keep those updates coming.
I have my 2006 Toyota Prius and i love it! It's my first car and like you said i'm a techy guy and i feel satisfied with what it has for being a 2006, all other cars have much much less. It's a great car and hopefully someday it'll get that new prius! Thanks for these reviews, keep them up maybe in a couple more years, it'd be nice to see how it handles time.
Very good review!! Thank you! I am about to purchase a 2017. Actually, I ordered mine from the manufacturer. As a retired basically an empty nester, I wanted all the bells and whistles! (RED extra charge for this color) Prius Four Touring with Premium package plus option)! This will be my fourth Prius. My wife and I were the early adapters back in 2000. We had to wait for that one as well. It was worth it! I hate gas stations and I love the earth! This vehicle matches great with that attitude! I am going to try and keep a diary for the first year of ownership as well. Heck, I don't have anything else to do!!! :) Thank you for the review! It basically reaffirmed what I had anticipated!! Take care! Larry in Denver!
@@snowm9043 Your brain melted last spring , or your just a da !!! People that watched this review have a Prius or they are curious about what technology and milage the car gets !!! Almost a year with my 2017 Prius 2 eco. We are having a very cold winter here and I'm really having to use every trick to get 59-60 mpg. Last summer I averaged over 70 with my highest on a 250 mile trip being 78 mpg. I try to keep my heat down so that the engine runs less and it does help. Lower the fan speed and it helps with the battery usage if you use pulse and glide as I do. The last tip that the mechanic gave to me is to get the car moving in cold weather after 10 seconds. This 0-20 fully synthetic oil stays thin enough to coat the engine internal parts immediately.
Good review 2013 and 2016 Prius owner and highly recommended this vehicle. I have no problems with 28k on the odometer. Lowest maintenance vehicle. 10k service intervals.
Got a corolla hybrid 2021. Awesome! has the same motor and electric as the prius. Made in Japan. Gave up a Nissan Leaf 2018 for this car. Was a great car, but the limited range made me rescind it. I don't regret it. The corolla 2021 hybrid can go for 655 miles with a full tank of gas. Incredible.
Nice review. I have four cars (Avalon, Camry, Prius, Miata). Of these cars, only my Camry was purchased new. And it'll probably be my last new car. Depreciation is a killer. I'm blown away that you lost $7000 in depreciation the first year. Ouch! I bought my '07 Prius (equipped with leather, heated seats and sunroof) for $6000 CDN. It had 71K miles on it (now it has 99K). Things gone wrong: one wheel bearing, a set of front brakes, and two headlight bulbs (not the expensive kind). Otherwise, just tires and oil changes. Still drives like new. As much as I like new cars, like yours, I will always go used. I really appreciate your review. The low ground clearance point could be a deal breaker for some. I did a video of my Prius in the heavy snow. Have a look if interested. The key is good snow tires. All the best.
The other fan that you also hear is the one behind the back seat that cools and helps to exhaust the battery fumes, you have 28 individual battery cells that run hot and the fan cools them down.
I have the 2013 Prius v, which is heavier and slower, and you're right: the ground clearance is an issue, but other than that, I love my Prius. This is my 2nd Prius, and while I plan to keep my Prius v for quite sometime, I hope they keep manufacturing them, because I do intend to keep purchasing them.
Quite a realistic evaluation with the good, the bad and the ugly. I traded a 2010 Prius two for a 2017 Prius two C about 30 days ago so I am familiar with all of the quirks of the model. The vehicle is a lot more quiet than my previous model and better insulated. It does have it's own peculiar noises during driving and after you shut it off. My 2010 got about 55 mpg when it was new and oil changes were at 5K. The synthetic oil it uses is quite expensive so I am happy that the new ones go 10K. I noticed that JDN said that his plastic interior looked cheap in his 2012 and he is correct. The new ones have a better grade material for the dash area and the rest of the interior but the new ones have their own problems because of led screens that have glare in the morning and afternoon sun. I bought the mid priced Prius at 27,600 but it came with a dealer controlled Platinum package. I like that my new one has a radar which detects and helps to correct lane drift. It also controls the cruise control will slow you down if you overtake another car. It also has pedestrian or object detection which will warn you and stop your car. I like these features but the last one has not been used yet, thank goodness. Since I plan to keep my car for a long time I bought a dealer option that will guarantee all electronics, including the batteries for 10 years. My old Prius still had about 77% battery power after 7 years which is not bad. The new Lithium Ion batteries are much smaller, lighter and have virtually no memory. I think they started with 2016 model. The only thing that I would disagree with you is that I like the reverse BEEP. It was also on the 2010 but I am usually concentrating on the backup camera and the side mirrors so I don't notice it. Keep the vids coming. I am enjoying them.
Amen on the black paint. I have the Attitude Black metallic on my 2014 Camry and I'm constantly buffing and waxing to get rid of Haze and swirl marks. Must be the clear coat!!
I spend 40 dollars a month in gas when I was spending 30 dollars every 4 days you do the math and oil changes once a year or every 10,000 mile which is over 3 times longer than your regular gas vehicle plus the brakes pads last 5 times longer because the wheels have generators on them that actually slow the vehicle before the pads even engage. Ask that guy named MOST PEOPLE what he says about that ????? A person who doesn't own a hybrid can't give advice or their opinion about a hybrid , it's a no win conversation.

We bought a '17 Prius 3 Touring last year.....fairly happy with it....but not really worth the initial cost, not to mention depreciation. Back in March of 2005 I bought a Base Model Prius. After about 7-8 years I noticed that on the average i was getting 45 mpg. I kept the car factory, hell I never even changed the spark plugs. The car Always Started up nomatter how cold tese NY temps got. In November of 2017 I traded in my 2005 (dealer gave me 2 thousand) ad I bought a 2017 Prius 4. My 05 Prius gauges were just under the windshild and right infront of the steeering wheel. the Prius 4 has HUD which is the closest thing to the 2005. what i miss is the Huge Clamshell glove compartment. the small compartment for note pads, pens etc. just under the MFD, the center armrest compartment opening (Front to Rear. rather thanside to side, the draw under the center arm rest , the cup holder just behind the center arm rest, and the eye glass holder by the rearview. I've had my Prius V with the trim level 5 for about 9 months now. The trim level 5 is the only one that turned me on. Looks very sporty with the 17" wheels. If you're on the market for a Prius I suggest you take a look at the V model. I had to have the V model for the extra cargo and rear seat passenger room. The rear seats adjust just like the front seats. I bought mine used at 32,000 miles and I'm currently at about 50,000 miles. The overall MPG is at 43.2 MPG. The official color is Sea Glass Pearl which is a teal green metallic and it has tan leather seats. A beautiful combination. The one thing I never hear about on Prius vids is the power button used for acceleration purposes. Not to be confused with the engine start up button. This power button is located on the center console within the drive mode selector. EV, ECO, and PWR. Before my purchase when I was doing my research I noticed everyone saying how sluggish the Prius V is. I'm really glad I ignored those comments. The PWR button can be thought of as an anti sluggish button. A turbo button if you will. Hit the button a second before you need it and go back to ECO when you're done accelerating. It will surprise you how this thing will launch from a red light.
More than the battery, the reason why Prius underperforms MPG-wise in the cold is that the car is required to warm up the Catalytic convertor sufficiently to allow it to function properly which means it has to run the engine more at idle in the winter. Also, you are more likely to have the engine running at a stoplight in the winter to run the heater to keep yourself warm.
Thanks for your videos. After watching them in Feb/March I bought a 2017 4touring. I've got about 2,100 miles and the mileage keeps going up I'm averaging 55+ mpg now..
Thanks for the vid. I decided to go for a Lexus 300h, needed a bit more ground clearance and awd. Averaging 33-34 mpg which I find ok, considering that I'm not hypermiling.
thanks for the review - very insightful. I just bought a Prius '17 (one month ago) and am loving the cost savings (~300CAD per month) over my previous car (Infiniti G35x). Being from Canada, I am aware that my savings won't be as good come colder weather, and I note your comment on low clearance. Have you had issues driving your Prius on an un plowed road following a snowfall?
Veronica Gomez These are good, but check for excessive oil usage on 2010 models. Common issue with them. I forget what the reasoning behind it is, but it is an issue to look for.
Hey man I saw one of your videos where you're talking about how Priuses r pretty bad in the winter. That's why they came up with the new all-wheel drive that's the perfect one for the winter that one laughs at the winter
Kevin Hickey Me too. Just got a white 2014 V 5 approved at Carmax yesterday, its on the way. The trunk space and legroom is more than I thought....more than my 2008 Sable I have now.
Hello there friend. Have a question for you.from a gasoline truck guy. How much those that car cost over it direct similar on gas ? And how long do you have to keep it to start the real saving ? All this with my respect. I mean if this car is 7,000 dollar more expensive that a similar gas car. How long would it takes to save those 7,000 dollars in gas ? Thanks
Im not sure if you ever hear a spring pop sound when you turn the steering wheel on a 2016 prius? have you ever experienced this? usually when I turn the car on and first turn the steering wheel.
I have my 2012 prius for 6 monts now. And i think the plastic interior is cheap and it makes noice . The rest of the car is super i had a 1600cc ford focus 50L tank tou can drive 420 km's woth it and this prius is a 1800cc and drive 750 km with it
So assuming dealers still have new 2018 stock left currently , what is a pretty great out the door price for a new 2018 Prius one with mostly standard features and accessories ?
I love my 2010 Prius. As a one who puts relatively few miles per year (about 2500 miles per mo), its is more than enough car for me. On average, I need to fill the tank once every 2-3 months (seriously). This is a second vehicle which I use for a short commute to the office. When the time comes for a new vehicle, I'd probably buy a new Prius. It's been practically trouble-free (except for some recalls, new wiper blades, and routine oil changes. I just took it in for service, and the brakes were at 70% remaining, the tires had plenty of tread life.
Great video, keep up the good work, I am interested in getting a Prius, but in the UK they are £29,195.00 or $38,000 quite expensive compared to the US, this is a brand new showroom base model, it is another £2,300 for the next model up, The rep mentioned that Toyota are stopping manufacture of the Prius ?, Anyone else heard of this, why invest in a 10 year R & D project to be at the front of the queue with a hybrid only to stop production, When most countries are going to have to start using full electric or hybrid cars.
The only thing that I see bad about them is like you said the closeness to the ground I've tested a couple of used ones and looked at the wheel wells and undercarriage and have seen them all have some kind of damage under them potholes are cruel to these cars besides the high ice thanks for the insight
I don't hear much noise at all with my prius only the electric motor starting off and then the engine great car with the eco model almost 60 mpg and long lasting.
I bought my black 2016 Prius Three in October and love it. Toyota replaced the head unit shortly after purchase when it malfunctioned. How is the HVAC system? I am happy with the heat set on automatic but find the AC is underwhelming. If I manually crank up the fan speed, it sometimes has a buzzing sound until it either ramps the speed down or a baffle closes. Of course some of this could be due to the mouse nest that was found in the cabin air filter. Not sure if he left behind other problems in the HVAC. Interior storage space in little nooks and crannies is no where near as spacious as my 2006 Prius was.
The only thing that really contributes to cabin noise in a car so new is tire wear. Replace them with new ones. Go to tire rack and read the reviews. Beware buy the most awesome snows you can. Tire noise with cheap snow tires is terrible.
Just to my curiosity. d We are getting bunch of benefits when using a Prius. but if you had to change battery after few years, whatever the savings would have gone.? Which is more beneficial ? Drive a hybrid or petrol car.?
What year and Prius trim level/ model is your can in this review, please mention this simple thing when you start your video reviewing anything about any car!
Hi, I would love to hear from you how was your 2nd year of ownership. Just watched all of you Prius videos and thank you for them, very informative and helpful!
I am in a tough spot and not sure which Prius l should buy to replace the 2008 one I lost when I was T-boned by a kid who ran a red light and hit us a few nights ago. It has really bummed me out because the car was fully paid off and had only 62,000 miles on it. I had just had it detailed for it's 11th birthday and was hoping to see that car make 20 years. It was certainly worth more to me than the $5- 6,000 the Blue Book says it's worth. Have any recommendations? Thanks!
Yah me too! Had it for a little over half a year and couldn't be happier. The car does take a big hit when it's cold and you are driving a short trip, but a block heater could solve that. Otherwise for me it's flawless, I really like the interior the space in the back, and the overall practicality of the car. I don't think I'll buy another none hybrid daily driving car.
I wonder if part of the added noises and even lower MPG might be that the aerodynamics may be worse with chunks of snow sticking to the car and even stuff like road salt and dirt on the paint disturbing airflow. (as it would with any car , but that car in particular is designed for aero benefits). But I'm sure most of it is temp related, rolling resistance issues stuff like that. Do a 5 year owner review if you still have the car and have the time to do one.. IF you had the choice looks wise now that the corrollas are out. Would you have gone for that more typical body style and more conventional Instrument cluster design (rather than the offset speedo on the prius.? Gone for a trunk rather than the hatchback prius.? Replace it with the Corrola Cruze Hybrid in 23?
I think the Corolla is an excellent buy! I used to own one and now that they come in a hybrid that gets excellent mileage, it's a no-brainer. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Do you still have the Prius ? If yes can you please make one more owner review video to let us know how are your impression over the last years. Thanks a lot for everything you did from Prius pov. Have a nice day. Demis.
How is your EV mode coming on on highway? I have 2013 Prius C and I thought Ev mode turns on under 25Mph . Is that something limited to Prius C models ?
cruise control base model ? Also in ev mode does the mode reset every time you stop or park ? or does it stay in the mode you have it set in ? thkin about the 2020 corolla sedan
An issue also with toyota is the airbag recall. You’d think they would have corrected the issue ! Which they didn’t after 2016. Many other Car Manufacturers did fix the issue after 2016. On a whole a vehicle is only as good as it’s dealership( service department) and in that case TOYOTA has gone downhill
Great video, but one way I would love to see you improve is to perhaps put timestamps in the description on the specific topics, so I can jump to straight to the issues I am seeking info for, despite the whole video being quality.
Just bought a 2014 V 5 from Carmax on the way. Question: if someone is in Prius parked, say 15-30 mins, will tbe ac still work with the engine off, and the engine starts only when a charge is needed? I drive Uber/Lyft on weekends part time, and it would be awesome to stay cool, not use much gas/engine wear while parked at the airport or other places. thanks
If the heater or airconditioner is on while the vehicle is parked the engine will start for about 30seconds every 15 minutes to maintain the traction battery charge for as long as they are on. But be warned it will count against your average mpg though.
Yea.. that's i bought the 2016 3 turning it has 17 in wheels... white paint. check out the Garry Dean method ,on youtube...one bucket 8 micro fiber towels ,just keep using a clean towel ,never put a dirty towel back in your water. check him out... he has video on how to fix the paint.
Thanks very much for this update, great video. Could you please advise how well the cloth seats have held up vs kids, thinking of getting Prius soon but might go Softex due to our 2 year old.
Have you thought about buying tesla model s or Ford Fusion energi, tesla is full electric car and fusion energi is plug in hybrid. They both have lot of technology.
*The car is noisy inside because it is suffering from anorexia, regular cars have sound suppression materials on all walls, Toyota probably did not install those to save money and weight, plus S class would have thicker glass, which is another few dozen pounds, to be honest, you could modify that car by installing few layers of sound dampening materials which would make that car much quieter, thus sacrificing at most 50 pounds of weight, I also personally hate white car interior so I would cover everything with black alcantara*
Ground clearance - I haven't had any problem, though, modern cars are getting worse than older ones. it's better clearance than my previous 2011 FORD Fiesta.
Great, thoughtful review. I have a 2006 Prius and love it. I am the third owner-- 170,000 miles and no issues so far in two years of ownership.

I am slowly learning about the newer features and I find your videos very informative and helpful. thanks, Keith
Great vid. One thing is I have the white pearl and never wash it and it looks OK to me. I liked light colors cause of that.
Thanks so much for making this video. It was extremely instructive. I'm searching for a used Prius to purchase at this very moment. Thanks again.
Thanks for the comment and good luck with the hunt!
Thanks for your videos. After watching them in Feb/March I bought a 2017 4touring. I've got about 2,100 miles and the mileage keeps going up I'm averaging 55+ mpg now..
I would like to see more videos of your Prius. :)
If you got regular all season tires, instead of the fuel saver rock hard tires it come with, that would eliminate your tire noise.
Yes, that would help quite a bit. I wonder what the MPG difference would be.
2017 Prius Two is currently selling for around 20K. Just so you know.
Thanks a lot! I am now buying the 2018 Prius-C in Mexico City and your videos helped me take the decision.
as a taxi my ev % is about 67 ish daily.
Very helpful - straightforward and honest!
No issues at all.
I will buy a Prius III 2010 next week! I like your videos gives me confident!
3:05 thank you! first time I had heard this in all the reviews Ive seen
I like my 2017. Great gas saver for sure! Hell,on the side of my main job I do Uber lol.
Kevin Hickey
Me too.
Thanks
I like your review. Very practical.
The rest of the car is super i had a 1600cc ford focus 50L tank tou can drive 420 km's woth it and this prius is a 1800cc and drive 750 km with it
JDN Rotterdam wtf you talking about?
So assuming dealers still have new 2018 stock left currently , what is a pretty great out the door price for a new 2018 Prius one with mostly standard features and accessories ?
8:20 Most important point of this video.
So you top off the gas every 5,000 to 7,500 miles?? Nah, this must either be exagerrated or fake review.
@@triparadox.c Maybe he means 250 miles a month. At 2500 miles a month, that's 30k miles a year which isn't little to me at least.
Very good review 👍 . I am interesting to buy I cover a lot of km is it a good choice to avoid diesel engines also??
57.3 is what my average is over 6,5XX miles too! I also have a two model. This month, I'm averaging over 60 so far since it's warming up.
Austin Kinser for me I got 65 mpg at the start and from then it sustained from 65 to 69. it's all about managing the acceleration tbh
Great video, keep up the good work,
I am interested in getting a Prius, but in the UK they are £29,195.00 or $38,000 quite expensive compared to the US, this is a brand new showroom base model, it is another £2,300 for the next model up,
The rep mentioned that Toyota are stopping manufacture of the Prius ?,
Anyone else heard of this, why invest in a 10 year R & D project to be at the front of the queue with a hybrid only to stop production,
When most countries are going to have to start using full electric or hybrid cars.
Noob Tube you can get it via drivethedeal and similar sites for about 23k brand new.
Prius still being made today so maybe a sales trick from the dealer!
I like the new prius except for those seats. The previous two generations had soft suede like fabric and super soft foam cushions
The only thing that really contributes to cabin noise in a car so new is tire wear. Replace them with new ones. Go to tire rack and read the reviews. Beware buy the most awesome snows you can. Tire noise with cheap snow tires is terrible.
Do you have clicking noise when applying the brake? I heard it is a common issue with this 2016 Prius
Just to my curiosity.
d
We are getting bunch of benefits when using a Prius. but if you had to change battery after few years, whatever the savings would have gone.?
Which is more beneficial ?
Drive a hybrid or petrol car.?
What year and Prius trim level/ model is your can in this review, please mention this simple thing when you start your video reviewing anything about any car!
does your car get super hot in the summer because of the black paint? i bought a red but really wanted blue or silver.
Thanks!
Isn’t that how things go? If I were you, I’d get another Prius, but then again, I may be a little biased ;)
I believe that the reverse beeping can be turned off. Also what was your average mpg in the winter?
Jettlash1000 thanks for the reviews your the reason I Bought the Prius! Very good reviews! 👍
Thank you for taking the time to comment, this is what keeps me going!
Just got mine. It's 2020 ,but 2016 model. Any suggestions?🐸☕✌️☝️☝️☝️
Hi,
Do you still have the Prius ? If yes can you please make one more owner review video to let us know how are your impression over the last years.
Thanks a lot for everything you did from Prius pov.
Have a nice day.
Demis.
Hi there. I will be posting a video on this, but I did have to sell it. I want to go over my thoughts on the car, and why I got rid of it.
How is your EV mode coming on on highway? I have 2013 Prius C and I thought Ev mode turns on under 25Mph . Is that something limited to Prius C models ?
It will come on at pretty high speeds. You have to be on a downhill slope to get it to come on though.
No updates on this car for awhile, do you still own it? Mileage?
Do you have adaptive cruise? What gen 4 trims come with adaptive cruise?
cruise control base model ? Also in ev mode does the mode reset every time you stop or park ? or does it stay in the mode you have it set in ? thkin about the 2020 corolla sedan
What trim?? It makes a big difference between the C trim and the regular.
why is there snow in May 26th
An issue also with toyota is the airbag recall. You’d think they would have corrected the issue ! Which they didn’t after 2016. Many other Car Manufacturers did fix the issue after 2016. On a whole a vehicle is only as good as it’s dealership( service department) and in that case TOYOTA has gone downhill
Great video, but one way I would love to see you improve is to perhaps put timestamps in the description on the specific topics, so I can jump to straight to the issues I am seeking info for, despite the whole video being quality.
BlikenavE yes this
I appreciate that feedback and will consider that in future videos. Thanks for taking the time to suggest that.
What Spec is your Prius?? And what size wheel does it have 15 inch or 17 inch. Cool videos Dude :)
Prius two, 15 inch. Thanks Dude!
Love the Prius 2017, I do not have to use any charger, and save on gas.
Hi there!
How many miles you in a full tank?
Only a man like this would review a Prius
How much did they cover with the 3m paint protection
About half of the hood.
Yea.. that's i bought the 2016 3 turning it has 17 in wheels... white paint. check out the Garry Dean method ,on youtube...one bucket 8 micro fiber towels ,just keep using a clean towel ,never put a dirty towel back in your water. check him out... he has video on how to fix the paint.
Super review 👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Thanks very much for this update, great video. Could you please advise how well the cloth seats have held up vs kids, thinking of getting Prius soon but might go Softex due to our 2 year old.
The cloth has held up beautifully. The fabric looks like it did on day 1.
Great thank you.
My last three new cars I bought new I have made at least $1,500 on.... crazy market...
It sure is a crazy car market right now.
Have you thought about buying tesla model s or Ford Fusion energi, tesla is full electric car and fusion energi is plug in hybrid. They both have lot of technology.
Any updates ?
Great video!
How many suitcases can you fit in their with you and one passenger?
I would guess about 6 medium sized with the seats folded down.
Technology wise: You should try a Jeep, they dont even have power windows on certain trims.
i was always wondering how to turn on the side mirror defog.
Ground clearance - I haven't had any problem, though, modern cars are getting worse than older ones. it's better clearance than my previous 2011 FORD Fiesta.
Good review...
what's your sales tax? mine is 9%
Which trim is this? The eco ?
Prius two
So basically don’t buy one if you live in a freezer
It makes the experience less attractive.
U never made video of how many miles you do for full tank every time you fill up in winter or summer like 600 500 or what ever
Hey, why did you sell the prius?
Hang tight, a video will be up shortly on this.
@@jettlash1000
Did you upload a video on the reasons you sold the prius?
one thing that pisses me off about toyotas is the acceleration, it takes a while to shift gears
cvt transmissions don't have gears.
Been thinking about getting Prius. Not in Canada i guess
You should close the air inlets of engine room in cold weather.
I noticed that my Prius takes longer to warm up than my other cars. Is that normal?
BOB S Yes. Because the engine is more efficient it does not produce as much heat (waste).
The gen 4 2016 and after heats up faster than other cars. Since it use the exhaust heat to heat the cabin instead of the radiator as in other cars.
Is this a prime
Maybe prius v has higher ground clearance?
What trim is that ?
Prius two
jettlash1000 isn’t the three better? I know there is the battery difference
What year is this prius
2016
