Have you hear "Council of Wolves and Snakes" it's very unique and original, I see that Dimmu Borgir is always trying to evolve their music and doing something different, but I absolutely agree with you about Mustis and Vortex have said he was the creative force of the band on that time, he is such amazingly talented songwriter and I miss so much to listen to something new from him...
@@deggial2005 yes of course, their music is still great, but is not close to the level of their old albums. A jewel traced through the coal was my last favorite song from dimmu borgir since it reminds me a lot to the puritanical euphoric misanthropia era tho. I don't know, I discovered this band since enthroned darkness triumphant and it's hard for me to accept their new albums cus to me they dont sound like the dimmu borgir I fell in love with more than 2 decades ago.
This and Borknagar were the masterpieces heard on my college radio station at 2am driving around to act as a chauffeur that got me into Black Metal back in the late 90's and early 2000s. I'll never forget it. I had to pull over and listen and write down the band names else I'd probably forget. ICX Vortex is a treasure.
Finally someone reacts to one of Dimmus best songs. Everyone does Gateways, and that song is terrible and on their worst album. This song and whole Album is Dimmus best IMO because Mustis on the piano and Vortex's vocals make it so beautifully haunting. I also always love Shagraths vocals. And not to mention Astennus beautiful guitar solos (this was his last album with Dimmu).
@Gorilla Beanbag lol just because other fans don't like certain songs, that makes them terrible? Tell me one good part of Gateways. The lady's voice is annoying, the orchestration is overdone, the drumming isn't as good, and it's just boring overall.
@@JeremyBarbell it was downhill from that album on after removing vortex and mustis. I was lucky to see em live on the Death Cult tour here in BC Canada.
Fave song by them I play it frequently it's a masterpiece. Was 18 when this came out seen em live in 2005. Best symphonic black metal band ever period.
literally my favourite song by Dimmu Borgir, besides In Deaths Embrace. Might even be equivalent! Mourning Palace is second for me, and my top three DB songs of all time. That solo is fucking godly. I loved how ICS Vortex’s cleans are such a contrast to Shagrath’s in this track.
That synth orchestration was all the keyboardist. Progenies of the great apocalypse you will also love. The keyboardist wrote ALL the music for that song.
Glad you enjoyed it man! Thanks for the mention as well, that caught me off guard, haha. If a less raw sound is what you'd prefer then I suggest checking out this song on their official channel in your spare time, it's more cleaned up (just feels less aggressive in my opinion). 1997 to 2003 is my favourite span of years from this band. All albums they released in those times are 10/10 for me, and they each have their own style/sound. They are very different from each other. That's why when people on UA-cam only check out modern Dimmu Borgir I am like "But their older albums are amazing and sound completely different!". Unfortunately however, first impressions are a thing and not many people check out older Dimmu. Thanks again for this video. :) I hope someday you'll be curious enough to check out 1 or 2 songs from each album, because that will broaden your horizons even more. Have a great week man!
Thanks for bringing it to my attention man! Really awesome tune that shouldn't be overlooked for sure! I can see the appeal behind the more"aggresive" "raw" sound in here ,but i guess modern metalcore has spoiled me,ha! :) This was awesome,so i'm definitely open for more DB on the channel in the future! Cheers and have a great week as well :)
If you want a band that took orchestrations and blastbeat to the next level, you can try Anorexia Nervosa, a french symphonic black metal band that released 3 albums between 1998 and 2005 before beeing on indefinite hold due to the vocalist departure.
The Orchestra is a keyboard synthesizer Performer hehe but this is one of their best songs as much as Cataclysm Children, Progenies of the great apocalypse, and gateways. I also like mourning palace cool music
Wow a studio dimmu borgir reaction. Dude I could give you the the most wonderful list of vortex vocals over the years. Nick Barker is just an absolutely amazing drummer. But vortex is always the star here dude. 💎💠
Amazing song and reaction! You should react to Epicardiectomy-horrendous festering transmutations. If the band name ends with "ectomy" you know that is gonna be good ;) Cheers from italy!
I have the same problem with Abbath's vocals. Actually I like Immortal's music, but I can't deal with the vocal style ... I've tried many times, but nope. ^^ But this has always been one of my favourite Dimmu songs. It's great when you're mad about something and someone - you can let Shagrath scream all your anger out in the world. :D
Oh yes! Finally someone is reacting to this masterpiece.
Thanks for stopping by! This song is nuts in the best possible way, haha 😁✌️
@@JohnG_YT If you are hungry for more Dimmu, I would suggest Kings of the Carnival Creation. Nick Barker slays those drums!
Mustis was a freaking genius. Since he left Dimmu Borgir started sounding more generic. He and Vortex were the best parts of this bands.

I'd say Mustis & Nick were geniuses in the band...The band sux since they left the band...They did their great stuff even without Vortex/
@@MetalConfederation this album was with tjodalv on drums, not nick
While Mustis and Vortex were awesome, DB still makes great music. Try to ignore principles and give it a try.

That's how you know you found something really spectacular! :)
Bought this on vinyl 20 years ago. Probably their best album next to Enthrone.
Fuck yes!
Next? SBD is better than EDT.
My favourite album of theirs as well!
@@containternet9290thats ur opinion :) nothing beats the darkness of EDT,yet amazing album.

100% agree
I just commented on a video how gateways is crap. This is one of my fave song by them Vortex killed it.
@@mikehunt4797 Gateways really is crap. I don't like th girls singing, there's no justis or vortex, hardly and shagrath singing, and it's just subpar.

Mi canción favorita de todo lo que se llama metal . Gracias a ella aprendí a tocar la guitarra ❤
I fricking love this song, one of my all time fabourites.
It's a fantastic composition :)
ics clean vocals send chills down my spine- majestic

This album & the next 3 are their best.
Man, you gotta watch the live at wacken 2007 performance of this song. ICS Vortex's vocals are epic

This is still Tjodalv on the drums. Barker moved in after the recording and did the tour.
"that thing can do that, but not me" 😂
Yep. My thoughts exactly when looking at my own guitar.
react to arcane lifeforce mysteria.
VERY underrated song imo.

I love DB so much... Thank you ))
Thank you for watching! :) Glad you enjoyed.
Yes, dimmu borgir is great. I remember buying this CD in 1999. How about Dani Filth's vocals from Cradle of Filth? Dani for me is the best :)
Hey john, I like the way you give your honest opinion in every song you react. Keep it fun! Haha
Thank you for the kind words man! Appreciate it :) I

Yeah the music is fun,but Abbath...not my thing at all :D Shagrath's vocals are whole different story tho :)
Abbath was actually dueting shagrath in progenies of the great apocalypse.
React to SUMMONING - Old morning’s dawn.
epic
For better sound always listen to the "topic" videos. They have the highest sound quality on UA-cam.
I had a suggestion to do this video specifically, but otherwise i go with the "topic" ones you mentioned :)
Also check out Cradle of Filth similar sounds good music
Could you react to Bind The Sacrifice - Deathwrought please?
Also, great vid!
Does anyone know what the song is about?
uz jsem nemel co delat na hodine xd tak jsem tady
😅 Tak pokud to nepovede k horší známce,tak v pořádku :D
Great fn album but the production was horrible unfortunately would be great to hear remastered
