I've been playing poker since '98, (back then, it was only Limit stud & hold'em.) Anyways, I've noticed a VERY common tell that almost nobody ever talks about, and it's the amount of EYE CONTACT someone is giving.
If a guy is watching you LIKE A HAWK, he probably has something solid, a "top pair & decent kicker" type of hand. He's desperate for more information, AND he's trying to cower you into not bluffing.
You will ALMOST NEVER see someone with the STONE NUTS or a PURE BLUFF watching you like a hawk.
The bluffers, however, typically have more interest in how you CALL (flop/turn) than the guys with super-strong hands. If you're calling in a way to signals strength, and "Hey, I'm not folding," this is something they need to know.
The guys with the super strong hands might not even BOTHER looking at you at all really.

Polk's a straight GTO player. I've watched allot of his "hand analysis" videos, he's TOTALLY oblivious to live tells.
Polk exploits just like the rest of us... just puts less emphasis on live tells as data points.
hand #1: pocket 10s means jamming so who cares about tells. #2 is a major freeroll doug polk shoutout. hopefully he'll give you a kickback lol. #3 is a very interesting hand with plenty going on... great video!

Nice Video. I wonder if Bobby was trying to induce a bet through some sort of reverse tell, knowing both were aware of this fairly classic tell (looking at chips) - Just by the timing, usually it'd be more of an automatic/quick glance as the card fell or when he first saw it. He waits here and looks for a little while (maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm thinking he thought he can give off an obvious tell that an experienced opponent would think Bobby would be aware of to level that opponent into betting their weaker/missed range). I like to throw in some reverse tells, but all depends on who you are playing with too how they are interpreted. You know if you catch someone leaning back and glancing down at your feet, leave them out forward/strong if you are weak, or back/crossed if trying to induce a call, etc. Knowledgeable players vs Knowledgeable players catch on to this though or take it inversely or just ignore it entirely for the math of course.
I think what you meant to say is that the villain in the second hand is named Doug Polk and hero gives off a physical tell.

As a poker dealer, you can make money AND practice this too. Just saying.
@D H Some pros got started as poker dealers. They used dealing as their day job (it's like $25-$40 per hour) and they got coaching from pros. While they were dealing poker for their job, they practiced their hand reading skills without the risk of losing their own money. That helped a handful of top pros get to where they are now.

cool video - great webinar today, the humegame one, i enjoyed it.....i like to have 600 preshuffled decks for my games....just cut the deck with the blocker by the cutoff and it is game on.....just stuff the cards after the hand, the next deck is a different colour.....the decks are in a shoe....no rake amongst friends. was that you in the 6 handed poker adter dark with j romerro?

Personally, I would be pretty hesitant to rely on a physical tell (that I hadn’t seen my opponent make at least a few times with the same result) when my opponent is a very seasoned high stakes cash game player like Baldwin.

This is with pros, average people are so different
No one poi ts out that in the first hand example Robl asks the villian if h3 is going to bluff. When villian has just been flst call allnhis bets. We should have analyses the real bluffer here and His Tell . Id have snap called him with 10s as well.
Its not really a spot that makes sense to size down at all in Dougs hand, hes already taken a polarised line, and sizing down to say 1/2 pot when the pot is sat 10,000 wins 20,000 when called. Where as 1.5x pot gets paid 40,000 when called. After such a polarised line, the IP player calling a flop checkraise, then a pot size bet on the turn, there is no chance is range is going to be elastic here especially for a recreational player, that means I expect them to call, 0.5x pot, pot and 1.5x pot at similar frequencies, they are just deciding if they want to bluff catch or not and size isn't a big deal. As much as I don't like Doug, the mans made a ton of money playing poker and I am pretty sure he understands elastic ranges and recreational players better than we do considering just how much he has taken off them.
you make a solid point. there are data points, however, that can impact your future plan/sizing scheme... one of those data points is when a rec signals they aren't going to call a gigantic bet.

He bluffed 60 into 150 not the best against a marginal made hand. I think 1.25X pot usually is a good sweet spot between risk/reward.
Yong could tell by his opponent asking for a tell that he didn't have anything,
anyone that says a certain tell is "100% accurate" is not someone to be taken seriously

What tail is a player giving off if he/she is breathing heavenly?
I once saw a video with a guy with a monster card breathing heavily, so if the guy acting weak but he's nervous then he have the nuts

Uhhh, i don't think Yong gave any physical tell at all; Bad example if you ask me. In fact, Robl gave a ton of tells with his poker banter. Evertyime Robl talks, he has a minimum to no hand........ You should have done a video of Yong calling Romain down from preflop straddle to the river with just an Ace high 8 diamonds. He obviously picked up a tell on Romain.
I agree to disagree ... although I don't think I watched the Romain vs. Yong hand you're referring to. Care to send me a link and maybe I will include it in Poker Tells 3?

@@OnlyNattysatUSC44 yoo so I didn't pick up on anything after watching the hand so I decided to re-watch every hand Romain played looking for patterns and couldn't find anything.
Rob Yong made a great call and, if I were a betting man (which I am), I would say that the call was moreso because of a sizing tell or some kind of out-of-line frequency Rob Yong picked up on through playing w/ Romain for hours and hours.
From what ive heard being commentated in other vids kings are in the range of possible cards that the big blind will defend with. Still trying to to figure out what cards are part of what players ranges so forgive me for being retarded.
There is an obvious tell that Rubel is bluffing on the river in hand one. When he bluffs on the river he quits chewing his gum. This is a subconscious tell and is almost fool proof. The "Coach" seems to ignore that tell.
@D H It has been a while but watch his mouth and how he chews his gum and when he is concentrating so hard he forgets to keep chewing. It shows that his focus is exclusively on the hand and that he thinks he has something, If he didn't have something he would continue to chew. He is consent rating to the exclusion of non-automatic actions like breathing and blinking. It is REALLY an unconscious tell and a very telling one. He should not chew gum at the table! lol Unless he is playing at my table!
Doug was did not pick up any reads. In his mind he was playing heads up online in this hand. Was not even looking at the guy at all.

Polk’s overbet effectiveky polarized his own range, encouraging hero calls. If it works 1/3 of the time vs smaller value bet it makes more money long run. Advanced concept, you really shouldn’t be analyzing poker players at this level without understanding these concepts. Stick to small stakes and your videos will be more informative.
Wow, so if a bigger bet gets called at a lesser frequency it's still more profitable than a smaller bet?
