Laid in bed watching this and I cried. Wow. I'm currently going through a sort of quarter life crisis and I'm not sure why, but this made me feel like I need to do something, make a change, explore, do something big. When I saw Oregon, the tears came. It's one of my favorite places on Earth. I went there in 2008 and it changed my life. I went on a trip with Wilderness Ventures. We backpacked for 5 days, rafted for 3, and climbed for 2. I'll never forget sleeping under the stars in absolute awe of how many I could see...it was mind-blowing. You did an amazing job with this film, it was so beautiful! Congratulations on your journey. :)
Life is short. I realized that too last year that something needed to change. Hope you're on the journey. Maybe one day we'll see each other out there on a trail. Good luck stranger on the internet!
This hits SO different now that I've actually hiked the PCT. thanks Tip Tap for inspiring me to take a leap of faith into the Wild. I will never be the same.
Wow, just WOW. Great photography, professional editing, extraordinary narration and moving summation. Hands down, THE BEST travel video I have ever seen. Well done and thank you.❤️
I agree...wonderful summation...excellent presentation....this was a National Geographic quality documentary with a beautiful personal touch....thank you so much for sharing...."Keep on keepin on" as Starburst would say !!!

Thank you for making me cry. I also hiked the PCT this 2019 and you couldn't be more right. It is about the people you meet. I started the trail wanting to be alone and feeling like I'd probably never connect to anyone, boy was I wrong. I love my tramily and because of the mutual suffering we now have a bond that only others that have hiked a long distance trail can understand. Thank you for such a beautiful video.
@@slekdidwbfi8692 I had a long conversation with a keenly observant and studious repeat hiker. We were on trail north of Agua Dulce. He clued me in that those who actually do the distance from terminus to terminus are predominantly introverts by personality. But what happens when a bunch of introverts find themselves hiking, camping, and living amongst other similar personalities? There are certain dynamics that happen on the PCTs that cannot really be predicted, yet they predictably happen every hiking season. Sometimes expectations grease the wheels but the most wonderful developments are usually unexpected. Unofficial rule #1 is Hike You Own Hike. It cannot be overstated. ΟΡΘΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΌΣ ΕΛΕΓΧΟΣ monster it’s not necessarily groups on purpose. People just find each other and become friends. It’s crazy. I’ve met so many on the people on the trail. Shared so many tears with so many people; they were strangers at the time and are now close friends.

My name used to be Godspeed. I finished my thru hike of the AT just two months ago and it's irreversibly changed me more than I asked for. I'm just a kid, I hadn't even finished high school when I started and the sights I saw, people I met and things I did changed everything I though I had in my future. Everyone always asked about my why and I never had one, I just felt like there is no place for me in the world so why not be a misfit there instead of here. Now my hike is over and I'm living in a house with strangers i see every day. The feeling of not moving, smelling good and just the absence of a backpack is breaking my heart. I never thought I'd miss it at all and now it's all that I miss. I was on the fence about running away to hike the PCT but this video just pushed me off- I'll see you in april. GODSPEED.
This video introduced me to the PCT 3 years ago, I'll never forget that moment. Goosebumps every single time I watch this. Now this year '23 is my time to give it my all. Thank you Elina, for inspiring me!
I loved your video. It's been 10 years since I finished the PCT. At random moments a sudden memory hits me with full force. The feelings, the longing, it all returns. I'm so glad I did it before I got too old. Even 10 years later my feet are a wreck and I can barely walk. I intend to get out there again, though. I don't care how much it hurts. It hurt every day anyway. The PCT. The most bittersweet, painful/athletic/sorrowful/joyful thing I ever did.
stuff like this makes me realize how random our life is. I could've been born and live in another country and would've been probably live happily or worse off. We cant control where we are born, but at least we can experience life through the lens of surroundings. Im just happy i got to experience this to make me think how lucky i am to be alive now.

The single most amazing and inspiring film i have ever seen! I laughed , I cried, I clapped with joy, and a part of me felt a freedom that i've not felt for a very long time. Thank you!!
I've met hikers who only had one working arm, a hiker who had a prosthetic leg, a hiker who was 385 pounds body weight when he began, and even a hiker who was blind as a bat (trail name: DareDevil). Except for the young hikers, I rarely met a hiker who didn't have physical and or mental issues which added to the challenge. Yours truely is no exception, but I think the personal disabilities tend to be connected with the inspiration to put aside the final excuses and just go to it.

Elina, thanks to you, for the past month now i have been walking about 10km a day non-stop, and one day, i will accomplish my new dream of hiking the PCT. Thank for the great video -which i turned into 5 BG :P-, i shared it all over the place as "the best video on UA-cam".
Your pizza face/ trail magic clip made my spine tingle enough to want to do this trail. I actually live 3 miles from the Gifford Pinchot entrance in Washington. I am 33 years old and have just beaten colon cancer at stage 3B. I want to truly live. Separate myself from money, things, and even people. I think a solo through hike is best for me. Thank you for the inspiration.
I'm sorry about your mom. My dad was my coach, my hiking partner, and my hero. When I was in high school he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and it all went away. Stay strong and hike on. Thank you for sharing your story, friend. It is beautiful.
Wow, I’m speechless. This made me tear up. I did the trail this year and remember running into you guys, plus lots of other people in your video. This is the best video I’ve ever seen on the Pct. Thanks a lot for doing this.
Thank you so much. Isn't the trail insane in that way?! We're all having different day to day experiences in our own little bubbles, but also ALL ON THE SAME DAMN PATH experiencing the same thing.
I have a PCT version of the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" I wont share it all here, but here's a taste: "In the town where I was born, lived a man who hiked the hills...so we hiked up to the clouds, where we found the trailhead, and we started on this life of lots of walking, and little bread. "We all live on the Sunny PCT, The Rainy PCT, the Rocky PCT... Written on the PCT, June 2019 by Semper Gumby
This my 83rd time watching this on a low day and I am instantly feeling better. This is my fuel to get to next year for PCT 2022. Thank you for your art!
While I am still struggling to get the pics and video of my 2019 thru-hike of the AT into some kind of viewable shape, I am on the lookout for PCT-videos in preparation for my planned 2021 thru-hike there. I am totally amazed about what you published here. By FAR, the best, most thoughtful, well edited and photographed record of a thru-hike I have ever seen - and, believe me , I've seen many. Could not wait to show it to my girlfriend who is a director (professional photographer, 20 years of experience directing TV-shows, series, documentaries) for the biggest TV-Network here. She was completely surprised and her first reaction was: "There's no way, that this was not done by a professional!". She was full of praise and enjoyed seeing "It Is The People" just like me. You made our day, Elina. Thank you.
This is a National Geographic quality documentary about the PCT / Sierra Nevada hiking experience....excellent narration....beautiful summation of the true and beautiful experience including the emotional and forever bonds of a great trail family....thank you so much for an excellent post hike summation !!!
the amount of inspiration this video gives me is breathtaking. every time i watch it i’m filled with chills after every shot. my friends don’t get why i want to do this hike.. but after i made them watch this their minds changed
I’ve seen a million videos in my life but nothing that’s touched my heart like this. Your videos are the greatest passion piece I’ve ever seen, thus far. Elina, you are the quintessential representation of a heart within a heart…. And this documentary series just started! Finally, something I can look forward to since Game of Thrones ended. HAHA PS. I already know it. This is going to break me down into tears on the last episode.
I literally watched this a couple times already and refer to it all the time. Still when I rewatch this I start to cry after 20 seconds! So well made! Much love to you for that!
This was one of the best videos I've ever seen on the PCT! Beautiful scenery. Great narration. But most of all--it captured PEOPLE! (And all of it in about 16 minutes!) EPIC!!
Most beautiful thing in video is your face. Details of tiredness, happiness, dust, dirt, sand, hope, love, expectations, strength and weakness...your face in camera is pure life of PCT 👍
So true...it is so much the tramily that enhances a wonerful thru hike....or a fun floating trip....or even the bond made by trail volunteers on a month long trail maintenance crew....they all add to the joy while doing it....but the sadness comes when it ends...to possibly never bond like that again....thats why even we cry....the ones here that didnt experience it....the sadness is undeniable....thank you for sharing this Elina.
This is a fantastic travel DOC and representational metaphor for the the reason why most people seek out adventure. Weather it be downhill skateboarding, backpacking, surfing, sailing, road tripping, or adventure film making etc. Its about the people you meet, the places you seek and experiences you share. I truly enjoyed watching this film, made my day, and reinvigorates me to continue on my thesis/adventure doc project. Thank you Elina for bringing the STOKE to your story and sharing it with others.
By far the best PCT film I’ve ever watched. And I’ve watched so many. You’ve captured the trail, the experience, and yes … the people. I’ll watch this one again and again and again. Congratulations, this film is a masterpiece. From PCT ‘21, I’m Tags … my why … I hiked the PCT to tell my best friend Trooper’s story. 🐾💛✨ His collar and tags are still on my backpack.
Elina, What a beautiful film on the PCT! You are so right that everything is about the people and the relationships we have and make! I recently started going back to my roots of outdoors and hiking. I am an Eagle Scout for 8 years now and have not done much hiking as I had when I was in scouting! These types of films help push me further into hiking and finding my hiking group! Keep up the amazing filmmaking and storytelling! Andrew
This is beyond beautiful! Such a great and inspiring story, such a good choice of music, such a good message. You were able to verbally and visually capture what it feels like to get outside, break free and focus on the essentials: Experiencing and appreciating nature, learning to love the joy of adventure, spontaneity and discomfort ,finding inspiration and intention, embracing life - and sharing all of this with the people around you! Thank you Elina!
Wow, just wow. One of the most beautiful documents about a life adventure on PCT. You did it. Amazing camera work and narrative. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you sister.💚
I'm bawling my freakin eyes out. You captured the emotion and took me right back there. Thinking about trail life, being dirty, and my trail fam especially hard tonight from 4000 miles away. PCT, I can't wait to be with you again. Thanks so much for making me feel all the right emotions tonight, Tip Tap. I needed this. Thanks.
This video is the main reason I thru hiked the PCT. There was something about this video that inspired me the most compared to other PCT videos. Thank you so much Elina
Not only the video but the narration. also. This is a beautiful piece of art. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to document your travels and post the phenomenal production here
New subscriber! Elina, you are so so incredibly talented. The way you shot, edited and narrated your story is flawless. Thank you so much for putting the time and effort to share this with the world. Adam and I are huge fan of yours now and are excited to see the rest of your work xx T
It actually gave me goosebumps and all kinds of feelings at the same time ,happiness, laughter, cry, sadness etc ! The last couple of lines touched my soul ! More power to you ! ❤️
Our friend just started the PCT yesterday and we decided to binge this video and all your chapters. Truly incredible and inspiring! Thank you for sharing everything and helping us be even more excited for our friend on the trail. Keep filming and sharing your experiences - the world needs the positivity and more people like you.
This video made me fall in love with something I didn’t know existed. I’ve since become obsessed with the idea of one day hiking the PCT, and each day it drives me to make it a reality. Thank you for lighting something inside of me that had grown dim for far too long.
watched this several times now. You've done an incredible job Elina! the intro is amazing. The song choice and slow motion running and skipping. Its incredible. I'll be starting my PCT experience next year in early April. flights are booked and permit is approved. I can't wait. I hope I experience change and grow as a person (as you did). Thank you for the incredible production and see you on the trail one day. hike on! :)
One year ago I started thinking about how it would be nice to go somewhere for couple of months when I set the company on it’s own legs. Couple of hikes later and couple of hiking gear videos later I stumbled upon this shortdoc masterpiece and I knew instantly that this is what I was looking for. Pct in 2021!!! I guess, Thank You Elina!!!
I did it the same year ... never had the pleasure of crossing paths with you but I'm so glad you captured that one of a kind feeling here. Thank you Improv
I'm just getting into hiking and I've watched a heap of these. They have all inspired me but this one for some reason or another touched my sole. Life IS too short, enjoy the now and work out the rest later. You're a long time dead!
Wow. This was incredible. I've never seen anything that so beautifully and perfectly captures life on trial and the trials and joys that come with it. I hope you plan to enter it into film contests! So amazing, fantastic job.
Well done video. I thru hiked the PCT in 21 and again in 22 and your video is one of the main ones that I watched over and over to pump me up for the journey. I really watched it a lot while sitting in my B-Hut in Afghanistan and wondering what I was going to do next after spending eight years in that country. My two journeys were not as filled with all the laughter and family like you portrayed, since I chose to hike alone and stealth camp, but I did hook up with like minded people and formed a decent, yet spread out trail family. Anyhow, your video is one of the main ones which got inspired to try the PCT....Thanks...👍
Insanely beautiful video and words. My fiancé and I met talking about wanting to hike the AT and life keeps happening to prevent it -- which is ironic in its own way. We have now bought a 1965 motorhome and are restoring it though with the goal of traveling, hiking, and seeing as much of America as we can (which is what our YT channel is on) and this has made our hearts lighter but someday -- someday -- we vow to do this. Thank you for reminding us of the beauty of long-distance trails and thank you for refueling our desire to do this. L (and Andy)
I have watched this way too many times. Every time I'm filled with nostalgia for something I haven't even experienced. That's how good this film is.
Welp u saw the video so u just cant say u didnt experience it.

I have a PCT version of the Beatles "Yellow Submarine"
I wont share it all here, but here's a taste:
"In the town where I was born, lived a man who hiked the hills...so we hiked up to the clouds, where we found the trailhead, and we started on this life of lots of walking, and little bread.
"We all live on the Sunny PCT,
The Rainy PCT, the Rocky PCT...

Thank you for this beautiful gift ❤
wow, this totally made me cryyyy. I cant wait to hike this trail.
Same!
Thank you.
Wow, thank you so much for that Ray. That was a compliment and a half! 🙏💛
This is a National Geographic quality documentary about the PCT / Sierra Nevada hiking experience....excellent narration....beautiful summation of the true and beautiful experience including the emotional and forever bonds of a great trail family....thank you so much for an excellent post hike summation !!!
so beautiful ! thank you for this
Aww thank you :')
Awesome film, loved seeing White Pass, Spectacle lake etc again!
One day, I'm going to take time to be a trail angel.
My fav trail angels where those willing to help an off season (not hiking with the bubble) hiker like myself.
Still one of the best videos on the internet. Simply brilliant
the amount of inspiration this video gives me is breathtaking. every time i watch it i’m filled with chills after every shot. my friends don’t get why i want to do this hike.. but after i made them watch this their minds changed
This is how life should be celebrated. This is fantastic.
Saying we've watched a TON of PCT videos would be an understatement. This is already one of our all-time faves! Great job!
I’ve never cried so much watching people hike. This is so beautiful! Thank you for making this
I’ve seen a million videos in my life but nothing that’s touched my heart like this. Your videos are the greatest passion piece I’ve ever seen, thus far. Elina, you are the quintessential representation of a heart within a heart…. And this documentary series just started! Finally, something I can look forward to since Game of Thrones ended. HAHA
PS.
Aww thank you!
Most beautiful thing in video is your face. Details of tiredness, happiness, dust, dirt, sand, hope, love, expectations, strength and weakness...your face in camera is pure life of PCT 👍
You are a gifted filmaker. This had me all teary eyed. Good job!
One of the most beautiful films ever made
Elina, this was absolutely incredible and made me shed many tears. You captured your experience beautifully. Much love -Bookworm
Revitalizing and overflowing with life. I am crying from this film, this is amazing beyond words. Thank you for the inspiration.
Who's here rewatching this video for the ump-teenth time?
So true...it is so much the tramily that enhances a wonerful thru hike....or a fun floating trip....or even the bond made by trail volunteers on a month long trail maintenance crew....they all add to the joy while doing it....but the sadness comes when it ends...to possibly never bond like that again....thats why even we cry....the ones here that didnt experience it....the sadness is undeniable....thank you for sharing this Elina.
Hands down one of the best (if not Thee) hiker videos I've seen. You can feel the emotion the behind it, awesomely rare.
Thank you Elina for bringing the STOKE to your story and sharing it with others.
editing, narrating, photography, filming, story... epic!!
I love it!!
I got a little emotional - and I've never even done a thru hike. Thank you for this!
Elina,
What a beautiful film on the PCT!
WOW what a beautiful film, i have no suitable words to express how brilliant it is. Thank you for making it
Wow, just wow. One of the most beautiful documents about a life adventure on PCT.
You did it. Amazing camera work and narrative. I don’t know you but I’m proud of you sister.💚
Aww thank you so much 😭♥️
This film is so powerful and moving. I saw it first thing after waking up and I have tears rolling down my face!! Why you do this to us, so beautiful.
Thanks.
Awww thank you, I'm so glad you could connect with it, and be taken back to the magical life we lived out there. ALLTHEFEELZ 😭

@@semperintrepidus16 just saw this! Necktie, class of 2016 + 2017 ✌
This video is the main reason I thru hiked the PCT.
That was beautiful. The editing, the narration, the music, the scenes, the message. I love it.
Thank you for the incredible production and see you on the trail one day. hike on! :)
Oh man, thank you! Let go, and take it all in! I'm sure you will! Yesss, see you out there.
Hopec Coronavirus is gone
this brought me right back to the trail, and brought tears to my eyes!
well done, see you out there
-Mustang
I did it the same year ... never had the pleasure of crossing paths with you but I'm so glad you captured that one of a kind feeling here. Thank you

Very well done, Elina, I recognize a few of "The People". PCT 2019!!!
Months pass of rewatching this over and over and it still makes me feel wildly free. Can’t wait to walk in your footsteps next year! PCT 2024!!!
I'm just getting into hiking and I've watched a heap of these. They have all inspired me but this one for some reason or another touched my sole. Life IS too short, enjoy the now and work out the rest later. You're a long time dead!
I just love that i‘ve just spent 17 minutes of my life watching this video. It was just great
This made me cry! So beautifully composed. Congratulations on the PCT
This documentary is beautiful. Honestly I dont have words. So so beautiful is all I got
Wow. This was incredible. I've never seen anything that so beautifully and perfectly captures life on trial and the trials and joys that come with it. I hope you plan to enter it into film contests! So amazing, fantastic job.
It always feels impossible to convey when you get home to family and friends, so thank you so much :)

One of the better PCT videos.
Great people, great stories, great mountains. It reminded me of a movie. ," Wild" so much inspiration in here
Thankfully no junkies were on this trip.
@@THXx1138 yeah, i'm pretty sure, lots of fun..
