Thank you so much, I really appreciated the list of works cited 🙏 You often cite works but sometimes I get so caught in what you are saying that I don’t write the title of a given book down, although some of them are recurring. This is very useful!

Endless works! 🙀👌. I took a class in college that explored all these. Philosophies, and what approach each took, which spurred the idea for the Instructor’s name for the class, I suppose. It was called, Faith, Reason and Imagination. Harmonia~~~~. Through the combination of All, we are complete - “The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of it’s Parts.” ☮️❤️🎼🎵🎶♾🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶♾♾♾

IMHO, the Freke and Gandy (Freak and Ganja? BE that as it may 😎) is very distorted. You must have a Salman or Copenhaver in one of your boxes 😁

I always though of the richness lost thinking about the fragments we have of many ancient philosophers, Heraclitus especially! Heidegger wrote a lot about him. We know so little about the ancient world. Thank you so much for this series 🙏

As I write this I am coming out of my first Saturn return, and I am in the process of reviewing and redefining my personal core values and identity, especially in light of the fact that I am trying to become a scientist AND I have always had deep curiousity and interest in astrology, philosophy, tarot and archetypes etc. So I am BEYOND excited for this series - thank you for putting this together! I love how you framed this first core belief of harmonia, of ordered cosmos. I actually found it very grounding and cohesive in my experience too, being myself suspended between the worlds of science and philosophy/esoteric studies. It does seem to be a pretty universal concept in much of human history and culture. I can't wait for the next episodes!!

Excellent points made here, not only for astrologers but for the journey of life in general. Confirmed for me, that I'm actually further along and rooted than I have myself credit for. Thank you for this series! Much love! 💚☮️

I have been on a philosophical binge lately examining the what and why of not only my own beliefs, but also various philosophical schools of thought. I found the timing of this to be interestingly synchronistic. Understanding the paradigm and roots of ancient astrology is something I am curious about. Looking forward to the rest of the series and thank you~

Very interesting indeed. I think it is in Aeon that Jung says astrology is the sum of the psychological knowledge of the ancient world. I do wish Tibetan astrology was more widely accessible, I think it would be a great adjunct to Vedic and Western. Thanks for this.

I love this and I’m looking forward to the series. I don’t know where else I would find this kind of content and I love UA-cam for that reason.. I really had to ask myself deeply if I believed that the cosmos was inherently well ordered based on beauty truth justice and goodness. I feel like I believe that the source of the cosmos ( and ultimately me ) is this, yes, absolutely, without a doubt, but that my mind in particular is chaotic and not we ordered.

I am learning so much from you. The way you blend the eastern, the western philosophies just seems to speak to me. The other thing I find so compelling is that you also come from such a strong Christian background. You have retained its spirit and expand on it in such a beautiful way. I look forward to this series.

Hi there, it's useful for me to dive in to thinking about of the layers of connection between things in an ordered universe. That things are not all "all one" without distinction, but that there is an underlying order that unites apparent opposites. As a transgender person, there is a lot of conversation in the gender studies field around the culturally perceived "opposition" between men and women. While this is generally believed to be ultimately untrue, the deeper truth of the matter is quite contested. Some people will see gender as an unlimited, ever-expanding personal conceptualization of being, whereas others will see it as a social consequence of material circumstances, which may have some wiggle room but is ultimately a system of distinctions. This is likely an unintended side effect of your talks, but my mind often goes to gender as a starting place for metabolizing new philosophical concepts. Looking forward to the next one, one amoung many, I'm sure it will be relevant as well. :)

Yes, it certainly helps if we give God only one name. I just wanted to show that it is difficult for us to imagine how great God is and that we cannot appoint this.
Many thanks for the interesting series that you will give. Also many tanks for the book titles.

I appreciate learning about eastern astrology, but also didn't the moors in Africa also practice astrology? I've learn so much about Greek and other European historical experience of astrology within your work these past two years I've followed you. I would love if you broke down more African or non-white centered aspects in your work. 😊

    • @Adam-Elenbaas

Horoscopic astrology didn't come from the African region of the world with the exception of Egypt (as far as I've studied). There were African forms of divination of course...but Horoscopic astrology is Hellenistic...with roots in Egypt, Babylon and Mesopotamia as well as India. Im not aware of any of the theoretical roots coming from anywhere else though when I talk about eastern and western astrology it would include many different races and ethnicities who practiced it in that region of the world. I see astrology as something coming from God and not from a culture or race...same for all true forms of divination or religion anywhere in the world (just my opinion of course). Each civilization and people make different contributions...they are all so beautiful!! Most people from this region of the world where horoscopic astrology began were also not "white Europeans."

    • @Adam-Elenbaas
      @Adam-Elenbaas  3 роки тому +8

Ps there is a good book you might enjoy by Nicholas Campion called Astrology and Cosmology in the World's Religions...there is a great section on the role of Egypt in the development of horoscopic astrology as well as different forms of astral omen divination in sub Saharan Africa. I could definitely do a talk on other forms of celestial divination from other parts of the world at some point...its just not a part of my focus as a Hellenistic astrologer whose focus is on Indian philosophy at this point...ten years ago my interest was in South American shamanism though...so you never know how things will shift! Lol

    1. Planets always remain in their orbit around the sun, in their own cycle. That is an order. It is not a static order. There is also a centripetal and centrifigual power that always strives for the balance.
    2. There is a subtle difference between religion and how man constructs this in his own human religion. As soon as you give God a name, you make “it/him” smaller.

    • @Adam-Elenbaas
