I made an AMAZING Chiffon Rainbow Melt and Pour Soap: How did I do it?

  • One of my favorite techniques to use in melt & pour soap making is pouring very thin sheets of soap to achieve a variety of looks. How do I make them? How do I use them to get the looks I want? Watch my tutorial to find out the technique I created for making the look of Chiffon fabric in glycerin soap.
    Check out the Community Tab on my channel to see a similar look, but aiming for the look of Silk scarves. I may create a tutorial on this; let me know in the comments if that's something you'd like to see!

      Thank you for watching! That's a great question, and I forgot to mention it in the video. I'm spritzing with Rubbing Alcohol, for various reasons. You can spritz to rid the soap of bubbles before or after you pour, but I think in this case, you were seeing me spritz after the cut, which means I was enhancing the clarity a little for the camera. The camera does not always show the true clarity of a soap, so a little spritz while filming or taking pics helps.

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  Рік тому +1

      Great question! It helps the camera to show the clarity- otherwise it doesn't look as nice as in person. Also, I spritzed to help ease the soap out of the mold- a good trick if it's a little stuck.

    If you use the liquid blue soap dye, will it bleed into the other colors that are colored with the mica colorants?
    Btw, I LOVE your soaps. Just wish I had space in this Apt to make soap. I live with a pack rat who won't make space for me 😢

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  Рік тому

      Oh, no- that's sad! Hope that situation resolves for you and you get to return to making soap. That's a GREAT question- the amount of dye to balance a little yellow isn't enough to show if it bleeds. You really want to use the tiniest amount to start, sometimes I dip the very end of a toothpick and touch it down in the soap, because you don't want the soap to look blue, just to balance it. I've never had one turn any embeds blue. Thanks for watching! 🙂❤

    Terry they are so pretty how do you wrap those?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  10 місяців тому

      Thank you! Since I ended up cutting off the tops (giving it a "haircut" LOL) they were just bars and pretty easy to wrap with cling wrap. If I had left the floofies on top, I probably would have wrapped them in cling wrap, being gentle across the top, and then maybe very lightly hit the top with a short burst of the heat gun. Risky, I know. I've wrapped soaps with some fairly decorated tops- my drink soaps were the worst- but I just pulled the wrap as tight as I could while still being careful. I also made sure to spray them a few times with RA and let them dry out a little. Being in Florida, I have to wrap as air tight as possible and allowing them to dry out in front of a fan really helps. Great question! 🙂😘

    Do you know roughly how much clear base you used in this? They look so amazing!

      I'm guessing around 30-32 oz. My soap sheets were around 2 oz each, and my mold holds about 40 oz, but I also gave the soap a "haircut", which is why I gave a range. Good luck! 🙂❤

    This is so pretty! Why do you spray it after cutting? Do you wrap them in plastic?

    • @msTsoap

      Thank you! I spray with 91% rubbing alcohol for a couple of reasons: first, for the video, it helps to show off the clarity a little better and shows what it would look like in water while you're using it; second, it helps them to dry out a bit. I live in a humid climate and they can develop glycerin dew. It also helps to clean them. Thank you for watching and for the question! ❤🥰

      @@msTsoap thank you so much for replying. Do you also wrap them after or does the alcohol spray help eliminate the dew? I also live in a humid area, and I heard about the dew which is why people say they wrap them. I have had cold process soap before and people could smell them as they pass which would help them sell. But if they are , can’t smell them

      @@kourkiedekreator4365 if you live in a humid area, I highly recommend wrapping them, as they will sweat. Letting them air dry and spraying with RA as they dry will help with the dew, but I still have to wrap here in Florida. You might keep some scent strips on hand for test smelling, or consider having a bowl of scented salts if you're trying to attract by the smell. There are low sweat varieties but they are a bit cloudy, so if clarity is important they won't work well for that.

    Is there a way to make sure the mica I am buying will be credited to you?

      I'm sorry, I just saw this. If you use the link in my description, it's an affiliate link and should automatically give me credit. I haven't been doing this very long, so I'm hoping it all works that easily! Thank you SO much! 🙂❤

    How would you wrap these?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 місяців тому +1

      These come out as a basic rectangle shape, so I wrap them the same as any swirl bar: I use a basic plastic wrap. I tried using a plastic free wrap, but it just doesn't give an airtight seal. Living in Florida, it's just too humid not to completely seal. I have issues with the shrink wrap, and I honestly bought a great system that many of the professionals use. Part of my issues have to do with my back/neck and repetitive motion, and yes- believe it or not- my hand/eye coordination issues. I can create works of art- but you should see my handwriting!

    Where do I get the tool for beveling ?

    • @msTsoap
      @msTsoap  8 місяців тому +1

      I use a basic vegetable peeler and bought mine in a set of cheapo ones at the grocery or Dollar Tree- I can't remember because I looked both places. There is a fabulous beveling tool that I want to try but haven't looked for it yet. You can probably find it on The Dancing Soap Dish's channel, as she uses it in one of her videos. It looks like it gives you more control. When I find it, I'm sure I'll do a video on it! 😁
