Before I started watching Kyle I didn’t even know what opening up a hem meant. Kyle explains these things so well that even beginners understand.
You’ve got a gift for teaching my friend 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
lol...neither did I
It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
These little metal details are so intimidating. You’re a wizard.
Hey Kyle! I've been a builder for almost 20 years. I just completed my very first metal siding job. Thanks to a couple of pointers I got from you and your channel, it turned out BEAUTIFULLY!! Thanks buddy!
You know what makes a great Saturday is drinking my coffee and watching another great video from Greg. We all know Greg does all the work he just doesn’t like to show off 🤣🤣. Another great video guys are you all getting closer to picking a winner for the contest it’s been a minute.
Man, your attention to detail is impeccable! Those ZEE closures are called "End Dam" our company manufacturers them for all of our Standing Seam panels. Most customers only order them on prevailing wage jobs & weathertight projects. They are quite labor-intensive to manufacture and therefore cost much more than a typical ZEE trim.
What a first class job you did on the roof trimming. I especially liked the outer end of the ridge cap that you cut just perfectly to look just right. Thanks for the video.
I love how clean your work is Kyle and Greg. And really good pro tips
As always an amazing job.. I always love to see the attention to detail, even if you are the only one to ever know it exists.. That is pure skill & knowledge of your trade.. Thank you for sharing...
You both do a excellent job….doing the hip trim is so very important, and it looks fantastic!
I am pretty sure you are the best builder out there in your discipline.
Waiting and waiting for another clip from this project. So exciting. Wow.
You do incredibly good work! I love your channel! Every time you work on metal siding and roofing, I learn something new. I basically watch your channel to learn the tricks of the trade and your the boss at that but your door insulation since your not a finish carpenter sucks. I build homes from the ground up but it's difficult to learn all the tricks of each trade. I've learned many but am not a master at everything and neither are you but that's OK because we make the end result look good and are always striving for perfection and end up getting better and better through experience. Your clearly much better at metal than I am because you've done much more of it than I have. Now that I've gained the knowledge from your videos, I feel confident to do a great job on my next build like you do. Thanks for producing this great content.
I enjoy how defensive you are even while giving a complement
@@spudluver47 I guess I was on a rant.
The Installation from this Metal Roof is Gigantic Interesting! Your make it to Perfect, that it 100 %Waterproof. But Your too have a great Work to make. 💪👌👍
Greeting 🇦🇹
Even on a vacay getaway, RR Buildings is able to release the next episode. Interesting how we're creatures of habit so when the notice flashed that there was a new UA-cam video from RR Buildings my mind immediately thought I better jump on to get plugged into the live chat. Well today there is no live chat and so I said to myself, we're doing the next episode 'old school' ...no live chat although live chatting for RR Buildings has only been around for probably less than a year. C'mon Ty, keep your expectations in check. :)
My bad dude!!
What you do and show is perfect. Greetings from Poland
Kyle you and Craig do beautiful work. 😍 I love the way you explain everything. But you make it look way..... to easy. Lol keep it up.
Man the level of details is top of the line. Like the words of a famous architect. "There's devil in the details."
Awesome attention to details and yes those little things take the most time do you know what when you’re all done the product just looks amazing
Wonderful work ! Great attention to the details !!
Take a shot every time Kyle says double beaded butyl tape 🤣
Beat me to it! :)
Thumbs up Kyle & Greg! 👍😁
I do standing seam in fl been doing it for about 10 years now I’ve seen people try to use a chop saw skill saw I just use good ol Midwest snips I can probably cut 1k of z both hip and head I got a good system I 45 all my corners also
My company produces snap lock and for the pieces your calling z clips we have some pieces of flashing that are for your side and end walls. They are made to where you put them on first and then your roof panels will slide into them as you push them up from the eave end. The way you hem the eave side down to go over your roof edge you would do the same to the top end of your panel but you would bend the hem towards the top so it will prevent the water from working its way in
i work with zinc, lead and copper. we always make a upstand at the end, so we would need something seperate, the seam it selfs has a gate at the end..
Near perfect work, as usual! Always remember, if you find a small hole in your work somewhere and you can't throw a chicken through it, caulk it! 🤣😂
For your “sealant” I’d recommend LEXEL. It is a clear adhesive caulking.
… I used lexel???
If I tried to work with that metal roofing as much as you do cutting and bending and all my knuckles would be bleeding all over the place. Looks great!
Artistry & Craftsmanship! 😍👍🏻👊🏻
Beautiful work
Gosh, the place is really looking like eye candy! Love watching the detail work. Kyle ... have you ever worked with any type of copper roof cladding?
Guys I gotta get y’all to Texas to build mine!
Thank you for the video
I leave the top of the z trim together and just cut out the bottom for the ribs. Makes it alot easier to snap on the trim
Details are on point.
I wonder if you could use a heavy duty papercutter and notch out part of the blade to cut your z flashing
Just curious what kind of screws you use to attach steel to the weather logic. Kind of look like lathe screws.
Wondering if you could make “walking boards” to run across the roof panels? Maybe 2x8 by 3/4 ply with spacer shims boards to bracket the raised snap on connections of the roof panels. Or more appropriate dimensions.
Why? For what?
Question we've all been waiting to ask....you find a lucky winner for that tool give-away! Asking for a friend!😎🤙
Nicely done.
Meticulous! That’s the word. Epic closing sound track and shots.
Yep
Yur showing me a lot….thanks!!
Hey instead of those z bars at the top of the sheets, what about measuring 1.5 inches down from the top of the sheets, then cutting the tops of the under/over laps off, then simply folding 1.5 inches up with folders, then hammering the top corners over so theres no cuts, no caulking needed in the top corners for wind to get in.
Hey Kyle,
Just curious. Im a plumber/roof plumber from Australia. How come you guys done slide your hip capping under your top capping, direction of flow makes more sense. Great video anyway!
When are you putting your wall metal above your roof on ?
This guy is why America is great, if it is great
Buen trabajo...saludos
Great work. More stabila pls.
Hey guys, great videos! My favorite build of yalls is the Diresta build. So much great info.
Question: I’m assuming since you built in NY that y’all travel and build all over the country? I have a bit of land and am interested in building a barndominium, but cannot find reputable companies in Texas that travel to my location.
Easier to move closer to qualified individuals, than ship them in. Certainly more cost effective.
very good job, how much do you charge per square???
detail,detail,detail!!!!
We SOOO NEEED to play a Butyl Tape drinking game to these.
Double beaded butyl tape**
Attention to detail. 👍
Blue tape scratch-prevention for the win
Another great video with informative content! Btw what is the song name at the end of the video?
Need some interior updates as well my fine Sir... please and thank you!! :P
Incredible
My roofing installer should have watched YOU video. They would have done the job the right way instead of the low quality work they did do! I did however learn what to tell them when they come out to repair their poor workmanship! Thanks!!!!!
VERY NICE!
Why do you use nails, instead of screws, for the flashing up against the wall?
Anyone know any updates on the giveaway? I’ve been looking out for some sort of update about everyday but haven’t seen anything
Do you have an approximate price of what this house cost to build?
are you using the M4 with the titanium head?
How long u take for finish that house I do 130 sqrs in 2 weeks 3 guys clip panels can u do it too quality job
This place is looking slick! Have you already done your 1M subs giveaway?
YOUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS TO BE ADMIRED!!.ON A BUILDING OF THIS SIZE FROM THE FOUNDATION ON UPWARDS IF YOU STARTED OFF BEING A EIGHT OF AN INCH OFF AND A QUARTER OF A INCH THERE WHEN YOU GET TO THE FINISHED HOUSE NOTHING WILL LIGN UP. I ADMIRE THE WORK THAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING. WELL DONE 👏 ✔ 👍.
Wow...It's like cutting hair. Precision.
Why does he screw the trim in some places and nail in others?
At 26:00 when you are about to add the "top" trim piece and you had to open up the hem and all that to do it, would it not be easier to take the bottom piece off, then slid the top piece all the way up? Then you could reslide the bottom piece up into the top piece. Full disclosure, I am NOT in anyway a metal worker or anything, just seemed like a relatively easy way to do it!! Love the attention to detail either way!!
Need to secure bottom
Piece then overlap otherwise bottom piece could slide down
@@RRBuildings ahhh. Could you not rivet the top piece to the bottom piece (underneath where it grabs the z-flashing) to prevent that? Or fit them, then bring both pieces down and rivet them off the roof? (and then slide the whole thing back on) I imagine with your experience that you are doing it the best way already, just throwing out ideas from my comfy office chair lmao
What caulking gun do you use?
What brand caulk gun is that?
What are the black straps/buckles over top of Kyle's shoes?
Those are cougar paw steel walkers, magnetic roofing boots
Are you installing the Image II metal roofing in this video? The link to MS doesn't work?
Yes the image II is metal sales snap lock panel with screw flange
Where can I buy the r&r pants
how do you guys get grip on such a slippery metal roof? we have a steel roof and i cant stand up without sliding down.
Magnetic cougar paws
cougar paws attract all the metal shavings and scratch the roof from my experience
Preciso la ultima la pegaron mal, debía quedar debajo de las verticales no por encima (limatesa).
Considering its now june, and hot, this was filmed quite a few months ago. Theyve prolly completed this build by now, and are on to the next project.
The compilation of videos were probably filmed four or five weeks ago.
Rookie question here Kyle but I noticed you never complete a cut with the snips. You always seem to have to break off the piece by hand. Why is that?
Under the hip cap won’t bees make a home as the bottom is not completely sealed.
you did't show how much you cut of on the Z clip ends for the tabs
You got to get sway from "z" clips. I haven't used "z" clip system in over 35 yrs now....c' mon boys step up
Looks like your wearing some kinda booties on your shoes to help with being able to walk on the roof. What are they called and were can a person get some at.
Those are called cougar paws. They're made for walking on roofs. They have one for shingle roofs with a foam pad and ones for metal roof with a magnet pad on bottom
New game, take a shot every time he says double beaded butyl tape
lol
Time to build something new.
Atas int. makes their own z flashings to cover 3 panel at a time. You can also order them for hips if you get your angle. I personally stack the closures tight, put a clamp or 2 on them and use a 20v dewalt bandaw to cut them.
Sounds like a hack job
What is on your boots?
Why not do the ridge cap top cut first, then slide up the 10-ft ridge cap?
Because I would have no way of fastening the lower hip and keep it from sliding down
@@RRBuildings I actually did a repair on one while I was power washing and they had rivets on one ridge cab and the other had a half inch Gap where it slid out.
@@RRBuildings Trying to understand, doesn't the crimp on the ridge cap hold it in place after positioning?
So why wouldn't putting the hip cap on first be a better idea? Use the sealer on the bottom of the sheets and pish it up into the channel. It seems like it would be a hell of alot easier, less cuts, less chance for water to creep up at every raised seam cause the base that the cap slides onto would be one piece.
What pants are those?
Easy money!
Why not cut the panels and upturn them 1in at top instead of a Z Closure, use a butyl caulking in the seams, it will last 50+ years when not exposed to sun?
12:31 wooooooooooowwwwww...outta sight outta mind I guess 🤣🤣
(sarcasm in case you're confused)
12:31 😂😂😂😂 bruhhhh
And like Graig said “we’ll put tape over it”. lol
No because for hips you would need different size z lengths.
I suppose custom ordering flashing length is out of the question? Sorry, just a viewer and have never done anything like this.
You didn't tap your hand on it while saying "it is not going anywhere." Next big storm, it's definitely going to F off hahaha...
I can tell you love saying "double beaded butyl tape". You say the full thing as many times as possible.
beautiful double-beaded butyl tape haha
I would have thought you would do the top section first so all you do then is slide the bottom half under it
