I found the game to feel hollow, an amazing concept executed poorly. It only really caters to the hardcore grindy players and they would have kept playing the game regardless.
This is possibly one of the best reviews for a game I've ever seen. Unlike the other reviews by IGN and gameranx who didn't even get 10 plus hours in, you went through everything and detailed it beautifully. You sir, are a light in a very dark group. I had been eyeing this game for a long time and wanted to find an actual review, I couldn't until I found you. Subscribed.
This review of this game is the reason I subscribed to this channel. I had heard so many bads fro mthe major review industries about this game and that they didn't like it and was hesitant. After hearing your review and how well thought out and precise it was, it truely spoke to me that you really take great effort and pride in what you do and look at the game for what it is, not just what fits the narrative. Thank you so much and I look forward to watching further interesting game reviews by you. I bought this game because of your honest review, and LOVE it. Thank you so much and keep up the great work.
I Love This game. the last snowboarding game that I Loved was Amped for the original X-box. Steep brings back So Many memories of that game. Plus the enviroment and exploration in this game is amazing, I think that this game deserves more love as well. Good review of the game, only one that I seen so far that enjoyed the game.
Fantastic review for a fantastic game. Just like to add one thing though. At 8.27 you say "you never get to control the camera". I thought that was the case too and it was one of my few disappointments with Steep. BUT, you can. I discovered it by accident one day. If you hold L1 on PS4 then the right stick turns the camera. Not great if having to navigate difficult or stressful situations, but fantastic when casually exploring for getting more 'cinematic' action shots.
Great review. My only problem with the game(and it's very minor) is that flipping is switched from the right stick on sownboards to the left stick on skis. I would much rather have the snowbaord front and back flips(wildcat/tamedog) on the left stck just like the skis. Also switching trick safety: OFF was very important for me. The game seems to not be very good at recognizing if you can land a trick or not. It makes you 100% in control of your character.
Game is great to look at, and decent to play. The rag doll effect could use some work because excessively unnecessarily long tumbles are commonplace. Competitive events are practically all ad hoc, so some periodic "hosted" events around the mountain coordinated by the system or a player would be nice (sign ups, special prizes, side bets, spectators, etc.). Having avatars with varying special skills with progressive/regressive stats would add a lot of depth. Incorporating drafts into paragliding would be nice, and allowing select arcade-esque mid sport transitions (e.g. Wingsuit to board mid air) is a big missed opportunity. Apparel with stat modifiers is needed, just like changing my tire type in a racer. More camera control is needed because it's way too limited for a game that prides itself on the available views.. The game hardly feels tested for the finer aspects that add depth, so for a big discount it's a decent time sink but hardly feels like a game with excitable or ambitious goals.
Steep does not touch ssx for just pure fun, I still play ssx on my ps3 from time to time it's a great lil game. I wouldn't mind a new ssx on ps4 or even a remaster tbh.
He has categories for every detail..which does matter SHIT, in a game..this is NOT a techdemo its a GAME. "Particle Effects" "Lighting" ?! GAMEPLAY is the big one hear....ski through checkpoints, board through checkpoints, paraglide through checkpoints, wingsuit through checkpoints. Thats all there is and ever will be. You know what comes after going through checkpoints, to level up => MORE checkpoints. ty and have nice day
ya i wish he went more into detail with the gameplay. I don't care about graphics or particle affects, I want to know if the game is fun and has good replay value
Grillsen I have had a lot of fun playing this game. The controls are difficult to learn... this is not ssx. I find this game to be very rewarding and I personally keep coming back to do better.
you are the rare one who reviewed this game how it was supposed to be reviewed

Now what? DO you grind to beat other player's custom challenges or stop playing? Exactly.

“It’s ya boy (insert generic douchebag name) coming atcha with another video!”

I just hate how it's easy to bail and it's painful to wait for slow recovery.
The only proper Review of this game on UA-cam.
Great video! Very well edited, timed and spoken. Sub gained
Amazing video, you deserve a million subs.
A fantastic review that makes me wonder why you don’t have more subscribers
Fantastic video I thought it was professionally made! Good luck in the future :)

amazing review, you're the reason i finally decided to purchase this game and i gotta say i'm loving every minute of it. cheers
This comes up in my recommended every now and again even though I’ve watched it and im always shocked at the views it should be a lot more
Brilliant review and lovely narrative throughout. Have subsequently subscribed! Keep it up.
You're giving the mighty ACG a run for his money with this standard of review.

ACG uses the same boring template every game.
Thanks this is the best review ever! Helped a ton. Subscribed.👍👍
as its on sale now picked it up for the view, the location and the exploration... this review helped a lot in the decision :) Thanks!
thx for reviewing it properly

love this game. Awesome review.
Great job with this review dude 👏🏻
I would buy this game if it was just for the snow deformation alone

Good review man, I'll sub for future ones
This game reminds me of pilotwings on the 64. I recommend disabling the hud and commentator. Also set the playlist to chill

this is one of my favourite games.... just wish ubisoft doesn't abandon it...maybe a steep 2? if not then just make it offline 😊
Great review. Shame you didn't give the game a mark out of 10
Even though its free on ps4 this month, i still think I'd have more fun playing ssx on ps2.

I'm split between this and ori and the blind forest
If you ask me what hurt steep was an extremely high price tag for the type of game it was. I did enjoy the beta but I was put off by the price
You talk a lot of traveling, and I've never focused on it when I played this game. Maybe I've missed some fun parts...
You may have! It's worth doing and super fun!
0/10 Not enough explosions.
