Excellent 👍 what a great adventure there 👌 like the bit at the end where it shows where you have been , thanks very much enjoyed watching.. kind regards Glyn
I made exactly the same day trip in july. The tide had started moving out when I was rounding Fiaraidh and the conditions on the outside were much worse than I had expected. In the channel between Fiaraidh and Barra on the way back in, the incoming swell against the outgoing tide in the constricted channel developes a tide race. My paddling partner was quite shaken by the experience.
Its a nice day paddle, but such places always need to be treated with respect, as I'm sure you know. I was partly surprised by how much tidal speed there was in the channel, such features can be prone to this, but I'd not picked anything up on my tide information, but I had swell with tidal flow, so no tide race to deal with. I also had a fair bit of flow on the NE corner of Fuday ( not shown on the video as the camera wasn't on!) but i was expecting that and it was just on the point, so not an issue. Cheers..
Another very nice video! Do you also have that many jellyfish on the Scottish coast? The Swedish west coast has been very uncomfortable this summer. The water is getting too warm...
Thanks. Its only a shortt hop over at the closest point on Bara, about half a mile, so about 10 mins. To go round from that point and back is about 6 miles, so less than 2 hours
Hi, yea I wear a dry suit most of the time, with different undergarments depending how warm it is. I use a Trident dry suit, made in the North East of England, a great value for money lightweight suit, that will outlast most suits 2 to 3x the price... however, that`s just me ... many people will disagree🤣
Thank you for recording the trip, beautiful land and water, great to see it from the kayaking perspective.
Thank you 😁
Absolutely stunning, thanks for taking the time to make and publish video
Brilliant videos I’m jealous I can’t ever get around to planning a trip like this !

Thanks. We do have jellyfish, but not too many, nothing abnormal.
Nice video! Can you tell me how long roughly it takes to paddle out from Isle of Barra to fuday? Thanks
