    ✮ At the final stage of mastering your tracks, having the best tools is more important than ever. There's no 'fix it later', so the transparency and extraordinary sound quality of Weiss are priceless.
    The Compressor/Limiter completes the DS1-MK3 collection, based on the gold-standard algorithms of the digital hardware original. Adding modern visualizations and paring down the workflow, it focuses on the bread-and-butter compression, limiting, and expansion tasks you'll use on every song. Join George to check it out. ✮

    There is so much wasted real estate next to the parallel knob Which I highly suggest using for make up gain! I'm clicking back and forth for the most basic of functionality. Even better would be to have an auto-gain adjust feature like on the Tokyo Dawn Labs compressors as well.

    I don't get it, why would you hide the make up gain knob in the advanced menu? Would a user not always adjust the make up after adjusting threshold or ratio?

    Awsome bit of kit, can be used on individual tracks, buss etc. Studio One is an excellent Daw, gonna soon be THE Daw, however I am totally intrigued by the track Who are they, where may we download. I thank you. 😁

    I just tried the trial version. It's a very good compressor with precise control, however with some minor setbacks.
    The visual display is very accurate and helpful and the overall sound of the compressor is very nice.
    It does take a drastic amount of bass away from a signal but that's nothing new when dealing with compression.
    To compensate for bass loss, you can back off the mix and/or add a low-shelf boost post-compression.
    I will say the greatest flaw about this compressor is that the make-up gain is in the advanced window.
    Seems counter-intuitive to the "easy intuitive interface" Softube has created for all the other parameters.
    The limiter is not gain compensated; aka: unity gain.
    So when you increase the limiter just becomes louder which I see no practical use for except making things louder.
    And lastly the frequency section is difficult to control and not intuitive at all.
    When I want to drag the frequency range to the desired direction it has a finite range of what frequencies I can compress.
    The frequency range when increased or decreased is omnidirectional, meaning it equally expands on both sides of the spectrum instead of one.
    This is tedious when I'm trying to dial in the frequency range I desire.
    All-in-all, besides the price of this compressor, great sound and visuals but the interface and accuracy of the controls can be improved.

      agreed with almost everything. Especially with the "hidden Autogain" feature in the Adv section and i also find the Sc Filter super annoying and 0% intuitive to set. Also if you have "only" the Compressor for 300 bucks but not the Ds1 Mk3 suite , it does not even have simple HP option in the Filter section but only a BP (what you describe as "finite range") that is a pain in the butt to set.. However to the "Limiter not gain compensated" comment you made i dont fully understand what you mean. I own almost every high end plugin limiter and not one has a gain compensation. If your signal is below 0db the Limiter will make it "louder" when pushed. The more your signal is at 0 db already , the more it will sound "gain compensated" unless i miss something about what you mean.

    I have really problem to spot the difference on those example tracks. Maybe I am deaf, but maube too much of a compression on youtube video?

  • @saardean4481
    @saardean4481 3 роки тому

    I would find it so much better if Autogain compensation was on by default like in the Powair compressor. Much easier to hear what you are doing with the compression when you dont have volume jumps to confuse you.

    is anyone else hearing the distortion when the expander is used on the guitar? Is that because of the short release-time?

      I LOLed when I heard that. In fairness, I think “smooth transparent” was probably the word he was looking for. I don’t find the Weiss *totally* colorless, it imparts a subtle signature (at least when working full bandwidth). But “warmth” ain’t it 🙃

    Hi! How do you set ceiling? Is it possible? and How? Thanks

    • @SoftubeStudios
      @SoftubeStudios  6 років тому +3

      Hey Sabina,
      For serious mastering applications (and incidentally this was news to me when we were developing this product too) apparently setting a limiter ceiling is less advantageous than using an 'output trim' option, which is represented here by the far right red slider. The reason is that if you've got a carefully planned gain structure in your track (say the chorus is a little louder than the verse, for example) then bringing down the ceiling by even 1db affects the chorus more than the verse, and can damage the impact of that louder chorus.
      So for all these Weiss products, the limiter ceiling is fixed at 0 dB, and the output trim happens post-limiter.
      Hope that helps,
      /George

    The setup and Moderator are cool, but this demonstration could be so much better, I hardly hear any differences in the examples; no one I know is using this plug in in this methods or ways, what about Auto Gain and all the other great features..?? hmm.
