I watched about 20 other videos be for i found this one and they did not help at all. they even are the videos google suggested to me. this video get 10 stars from me thank you so much and keep making this videos you are a life saver man
liked you said at the end of the video this is a very clear and simple to try to understand, ive been looking and view so many video during this three past days and didnt not understand anything, till now your explanation and demonstration made me understand clearly relay, the must of relay, how to connect and much more, thanks for that ,that was the missing knowledge i was looking to start wiring my vintage motocycle, big thanks
Great video man i was struggling to understand the concept of a relay for the longest time. I pulled out a pen and paper and followed along and it just all clicked in my head! good video!
Thank you for the Video, Very helpful, have an 1985 Jeep and fan fuse burned out so bypassing everything. This is a simple an effective way to keep things working. Thank you.
Nice video, you speak nice and clear, not rushing.kept it simple.I wish I found this video earlier, when I was bypassing my radiator fans LOL.Great Job.:)
I spent the whole day buggering around with the relay wiring and couldn't get it right. 30 minutes after watching your video everything is working, thank you so much. this is a great video, so helpful.
All I can say is: THANK YOU!! We did it!!! I literally have been working on wiring my running markers to blink as turn signals as well, alllll day. I just could not figure it out and no one else had a clear cut explanation of HOW. Thank you so much, dude.
This has helped me immensely. Now I know what the hell 87A is for and Now I know why my battery drains on my Bobber. I've known I wired something wrong but wasn't sure why the Bat drain was ocuring. Thanks bro. Great job.
Thanks for the video. This was helpful and more clear than most. A discussion of wire guage and fuse size would be a good addition...something for normal aftermarket driving lights (altho I realize they will draw from 55W to about 130w per light).
Thanks for the video although I'm a little unsure about number 87 if you not running the relay from your ign switch or toggle switch , I have a elec cooling fan in my old 69 truck it came with a fan controller they did not include a relay in the fan it's power from the battery to a fuse then from the fuse to the controller , the fan is wired into the controller and when the probe reaches a set temp fan turns on . I know I can go battery to fuse then fuse out to 30 85 is grounded but since I'm not running a toggle or flip switch would I go 86 or 87 to the fan controller ? I see how the relay works like if I wanted to mount some cab lights on the roof or fog lights etc . The POS and neg of the fan go into the fan controller the power for the controller now is just right from the battery to the controller at idle at stop light it really puts a hurt on the alternator
It actually seems like the controller is a relay since 30 is the power the temp probe is 86 when it gets to temp desired it turns on triggering 87 we're the fans are connected to although if that's the case don't know why I have such power loss I'm also running a elec fuel pump only draws 4/5 amps
Great video, very clear and precise! One question for you though, if you don't want to wire the switch to the ignition or fuse block, where do you wire it to, back to the battery with another inline fuse?
i'm wiring a motorcycle amp. 2 pole switch on the handlebars a fuse box wire and a relay. want to play music when the bike engine is off. instead of the 2 light bulbs, i'm using the amp. where do the + - wires go from the amp. what wires go from the switch on the handlebars. can you draw a hookup for what i'm doing. thank you....jim from pa. dont worry, i test with a 12volt fan instead of the amp.
Never ceases to amaze........the intolerance, indeed ignorance of individuals who post rude, arrogant, mindless, moronic comments unnecessarily. This guy goes to the trouble of creating an informative video when he is clearly suffering from a malady, and the brain dead’s can only comment on his blocked nose. You Tube caters for everyone, amateurs and experts alike, used with caution and a little wisdom it frequently provides much needed assistance. An invaluable source of reference when faced with a problem but having to sift through the garbage for additional information is time consuming due to the keyboard warriors who enjoy the sound of their own voice no doubt, their right to exercise intolerance. The negative comments do nothing to encourage others to make a worthwhile instructional contribution on UA-cam.
Indeed, lets hope our comments do not dissuade others from making their contributions. Lets also hope those that do go on to put instructional videos on jootube do not make their videos when they are regurgitating their own mucus in the middle of a cold or flu.
I bought some relays from Amazon and they are numbered different that yours. They are just 1-2-3-4. I attached a pic. Could tell me the wiring for these pins? I also want to wire up a wig wag relay for some lights. The pins are marked L - X - and P. Is the P for power in and the L and X for each of the lights? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great videos. They are both helpful and entertaining.
Just this videos alone made me a subcriber... QUESTION? Can you wire the switch straight to the battery as a power source or would that be too much power and fry the switch?
I have a 2009 Jeep JK and purchased a horn harness with the relay and fuse set up. Watch their video on connection did not work. Change the ground to the wiring and also the switch and nothing. The horn harness is iJDMTOY (1) 12V Horn Wiring Harness Relay. Could their be any other reason why it does not work?
Edify, i am wiring some amp power steps to my jeep and was looking at getting power from dome light, so when i use my key remote it will also bring down steps and also be able to use when i remove doors. Any way i was looking at using relay 30 would be to dome light power; 85 ground; 87 to power steps and to switch to turn off would this work? Or do have have better suggestion? Thanks
Hi Does the AC clutch follow the same concept? The ac cluth fuse keeps blowing and am not sure where to start. I measure things i dont understand. I have ground at the ac clutch female connector but no power.
How can I wire in a air horn to use the factory steer wheel horn button? At the moment, it is wired in with the existing +/- wires from the factory horn. It honks intermittently!! NOT a constant blast to get someones attention!!
I had to do exactly that for my car horn. What I did was to connect the fused 12v supply to terminals 30 and 86. Terminal 87 went to the accessory ( in my case, the horn ) and 85 was effectively switched by the horn button. When the horn button was not pressed, the power across 86 - 85 was not a complete circuit, so no power crossed between 30 and 87. When the ground was completed by the switch ( horn button ), the trigger circuit 86-85 was completed and this triggered power to cross from 30 to 87. It works fine.
Dear Mr : Can you Show Me How To Hook Up A Triple Color DRL Daytime Running Light To a 5-pin relay ..(White in daytime driving, Blue at night driving when width light is open yellow when making turn indicator light) .Thanks
sucks, i hear this then i read the other way,, 30 is output and 87 is in, or 30 is battery or 87 ,which is it??????????????? I been reading 87 is my hot power from battery, and 30 is output to amp etc,86 is my source in from radio stuff, trigger wire
Think of it as a double pole, single throw switch in relay form. That's my understanding. Basically, instead of having it be on/off, it's a choice between powering one or the other circuit. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi, I wired up some backup/aux lights before I saw the video and have done it as follows: # 30 to 12v bat. # 87 to lights (grounded) # 85 from reverse light wire # 86 to ground The lights come on when in reverse, in order to use them as auxiliary lights I added a switched wire to #87. I find the relay is isolated so no voltage other then terminal #87. I assume the only issue is that I am back feeding my switch when the back up lights are on, but too is on a relay so I haven't seen any issues. Is there anything I need to be concerned about?
I think you should have connected 30 to your aux/backup lamp(s). 87A to the positive wire for normal reverse lights. 87 to B+. And a switch as shown in this video. Caveat: make sure your aux lamps do not exceed the capacity of factory reverse light circuit.
Sorry I don't think you explained the operation of a relay at all. I think what would have been better was to provide a schematic of what goes on IN THE RELAY. What happens before and after is simple. How it get there is what happens in the relay. All is seems to me is you are showing two lines with power going to difference places - not explaining how that happens.
Thanks, the wiring diagram I have has a fused wire from the battery to the 87 terminal on the relay and the 30 terminal going directly to two passing lights (motorcycle).
Great job explaining ,who cares if you have the sniffles , You made it simple to understand
I watched about 20 other videos be for i found this one and they did not help at all. they even are the videos google suggested to me. this video get 10 stars from me thank you so much and keep making this videos you are a life saver man
Great video very simple followed the instructions and worked perfectly
liked you said at the end of the video this is a very clear and simple to try to understand, ive been looking and view so many video during this three past days and didnt not understand anything, till now your explanation and demonstration made me understand clearly relay, the must of relay, how to connect and much more, thanks for that ,that was the missing knowledge i was looking to start wiring my vintage motocycle, big thanks
Great video man i was struggling to understand the concept of a relay for the longest time. I pulled out a pen and paper and followed along and it just all clicked in my head! good video!
I second that !!! Thanks
Great job on video easy to understand really help me out
Best explanation of wiring a relay I've seen on UA-cam...thanks...made my day!
Thank you for the Video, Very helpful, have an 1985 Jeep and fan fuse burned out so bypassing everything. This is a simple an effective way to keep things working. Thank you.
Simple enough that I could understand it, thanks for taking the time!
Very informative....and I hope your cold got better!
Awesome. This subject has been confusing me forever.
U did a great job explaining. Thank you sir!!!
Very good video you explained the layout very well you now have made it so easy for me to understand thankyou so much
All I can say is: THANK YOU!! We did it!!! I literally have been working on wiring my running markers to blink as turn signals as well, alllll day. I just could not figure it out and no one else had a clear cut explanation of HOW. Thank you so much, dude.
Thanks for your great video, very easy to understand and got me going on my Lights!😀😀
great explanation 👌 great job , I'll try to hook up my vintage horn. thank you
This has helped me immensely. Now I know what the hell 87A is for and Now I know why my battery drains on my Bobber. I've known I wired something wrong but wasn't sure why the Bat drain was ocuring. Thanks bro. Great job.
A very good video. I just used it to wire a aquarium tank automatic top up switch, using a relay that came with no instructions. thank you very much
Thanks for the video. This was helpful and more clear than most. A discussion of wire guage and fuse size would be a good addition...something for normal aftermarket driving lights (altho I realize they will draw from 55W to about 130w per light).
Hi bro
Pls I have Ford focus 2004 model but dashboard battery light came and go.
Thanks a lot, your video helped me fix my wiring which was blowing up fuses.
cheers
Great video and thanks for taking the time to share.
Tq somuch Bro easy method simply diagram 👍👍👍👍👍👍
i bought an amp recently that had no remote wire. This solves that problem. thx. (:
Dj White
Thankyou, i now understand the relay and now makes sense to me.
Good video brother
thanks for sharing,I wired my cooling fan with a relay today works great thanks again!!!😁👍🏁💰
Great video man, cheers .
In my case it is the other way around, 87 instead 30 is connected to the battery, and everything works correctly.Thx for video.
If you ran pin 86 from the battery does it need to be fused?
Thanks, I think I get this now 100%. Most videos you need to know it before knowing what they are talking about, lol.
Great video, very clear and precise! One question for you though, if you don't want to wire the switch to the ignition or fuse block, where do you wire it to, back to the battery with another inline fuse?
It all depends on what and how you need it to work.
i'm wiring a motorcycle amp. 2 pole switch on the handlebars a fuse box wire and a relay. want to play music when the bike engine is off. instead of the 2 light bulbs, i'm using the amp. where do the + - wires go from the amp. what wires go from the switch on the handlebars. can you draw a hookup for what i'm doing. thank you....jim from pa. dont worry, i test with a 12volt fan instead of the amp.
great video keep up man
That was pretty damn good
Thanks for sharing
very simple explanation thanks for giving us knowledge 🤣

hey fuck you man, that sniffling every few seconds is annoying, why not wait until you dont have sinus problem to make the video!

Can this use as signal flasher ?
How do you hook up air horns do you ground the switch on the dash using a relay????
pin 86 use the same amp draw regardless of relay amp size?
Just this videos alone made me a subcriber...
QUESTION? Can you wire the switch straight to the battery as a power source or would that be too much power and fry the switch?
Hi - I want to use a 220v 5pin halo switch to switch on an exhaust fan and I have a 12V relay - Possible
Any chance of you doing a video of wiring for an old Chevy? Tail lights and back up? My 64 Impala needs help.
Good explanation...
Nice vediO
Why haven’t you connect pin 86, my question is, what is pin 86 to be connected to.
That for hon the number 85 can the wiring go to battery four ground or on the body car thks
I have a 2009 Jeep JK and purchased a horn harness with the relay and fuse set up. Watch their video on connection did not work. Change the ground to the wiring and also the switch and nothing. The horn harness is iJDMTOY (1) 12V Horn Wiring Harness Relay.

for a fan with a high and a low setting with an on off on switch would i need a separate relay for high and low speed?
Hi
Does the AC clutch follow the same concept?
The ac cluth fuse keeps blowing and am not sure where to start. I measure things i dont understand.
I have ground at the ac clutch female connector but no power.
How can I wire in a air horn to use the factory steer wheel horn button? At the moment, it is wired in with the existing +/- wires from the factory horn. It honks intermittently!! NOT a constant blast to get someones attention!!
Make sense, Thanks buddy
How do I test the power windows relay that has 3 wires to it and is mounted on the firewall in my 1966 Thunderbird.?
HI, question: I have 210 watts LED light bar. What Amperes do I need for a luminated switch, relay, and fuse?? Thank u!
Example being just what kind of accessories would be the best thing to run with it
Good video sar
What is the best purpose of using 87 A4 I need a hand with this
Thanks.
Can i use 220 v supply on prong 30?
Thanks
How would I wire up something to interrupt the ground wire on temp switch
I had to do exactly that for my car horn. What I did was to connect the fused 12v supply to terminals 30 and 86. Terminal 87 went to the accessory ( in my case, the horn ) and 85 was effectively switched by the horn button. Where does the 2 wires or 3 wires from the switch go. 1 goes to 86 then the other goes to ignition. What about the 3rd
Slackerz Sincity 1 is a ground one is power and the other to the relay
If there is a third, it is ground for the light in the switch.
87A is just a middle man for 30 and 87? Why? What's the point?
👏👏👏👏👏
Nice

@@leoerickson7554 close, single pole double throw, actually.

Does using relays take strain off the altinator and battery
No.

Good video, but redo it when you don't have a cold. The snuffing a coughing is annoying.
Get treatment for sniffles!
i swear people explain as though they will be graded by an electrical engineer, basic is not his
sniffy nose !! OK video but blow your nose or wait until the cold is gone
NC NO.....
87 and 30 can be reversed

i lke it, but your nose distracts me.
Blow your nose,mate. It’s annoying.👍🏾
You coked up bro?
